Is there any side effects with this ? Removing proxies ips doesn't sound good.

I'd like to know that too. And you can always go back and re add the proxies right?
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA App

No side effects. Does not affect mms or anything else. If you are concerned just right down both up addresses and put them back in if you end up having problems. I have been using for about 5 hours now and no problems. Even called sprint to see if data usage had skyrocketed and they said looked all normal

No sense for a repost.....

Just tried making it more visible to us 3d owners. Easier to see when its posted in a thread. That's all

Obviously you never developed something helpfull for the community.
He didn't post original link... Or give credit to the person who found this "trick" originally..
And then he asked people to thank him....
It's not what he did wrong... It's the principle... And he fixed it so stop running your mouth like you have done anything ever in your life important to help the dev community, besides asking for ETA's
And yelling "help help I flashed this ROM and now my phone won't turn on"

Not to sound ungrateful or anything but isn't this the same trick we had for the original Evo to get better 3G & streaming? Except deleting everything you replaced then with "0.0.0.0" or something like that?
Sent from my Rootless :-( ....but still pretty awesome Evo 3D using XDA Premium App

Yep. I think this was a resolution to evolution users. I didn't have one but reading the forums, this seems to be true.

what do we consider slow
my speed test on evo 3d on 3g is
450 kb/sec download
320 kb/sec upload
and on 4g it was:
5 mb/sec dl
600 kb/sec upload
its not fast i think, but how bad is it!

Before doing what is posted above I was getting Max 150kbps on 3g now getting about 1800kbps..... I'm in Chicago right now and pulling about 8mbps on 4g

I been doing this since last year for my EVO. It was also one of the first things I did on my evo3d.

Sprint hates giving out MSL code
Just tried calling Sprint to obtain my MSL code and they gave me a hard time stating they cannot give me this since I am still under contract.
I asked them to refer to the contract (since I had mine on hand) to point to where it specifically states the MSL code is not able to be given out. I was then transferred to the manager who said the same thing about being under contract. I again countered with the statement as to where in the contract does it not allow me to receive this code. I was placed on hold for about 3 minutes and when the manager came back he said he will be sending an email to his managers for their decision since he is doesn't have the executive decision to give me this.
What a hassle. I have to wait for 2 days until I (maybe) get this code. SMH

Either call back and try again but change your "social engineering technique" or go to the original post and get the MSL yourself.

I had no problem at all. All I said was I was having very slow internet speeds and my connection was flaky. I said I wanted to reset my data and if I can have my MSL to do so. Lady said no problem and gave me the code.

[MOD] VZW 3g hotspot app for froyo leak

How to use the 3g hotspot app for free
I looked and looked and didnt find this anywhere except for eclair and just got done doing mine a little bit ago as the steps are different now.
You used to be able to select dial up mode in wireless settings but now if you have the new froyo leak. Now you dial **usbui and change usb mode to modem. Plug in to pc fire up qpst add port once you see phone select start clients/service programming. next click read from phone, password should be typed in already as 000000. scroll over to m.ip and select the active profile, should be profile 0 and change tethered nai to [email protected] the phone will reboot and your good to go start tethering with apmode. Some may choose to reenter the usb modem settings and change it back to pda(the first step) but i do not see it as neccessary. If this has been posted by someone else already feel free to delete and if in wrong catagory feel free to move.
Just remember these steps are for FROYO leak anly not for eclair users although they may work for that also just dont have an eclair phone to test on.
I have done this for a long time and never encoured any charges although i am not liable for any problems you may come across, ive never had any. As long as your not seeing the verizon webpage when you access web via your phone then your set.
Any questions feel free to ask but i may just tell you to google it.

There is supposedly monitoring built into dl30 that allows verizon to track tethering
..that's why theres the warning in the original leak

Why can't that file just be removed from the ROM? Would it cause the rom to just not work at all?
Forgive me for probably not using the correct terminology but does the mobile hotspot app handle tethering the same as say the wifi tether app? I just wonder if one sets off the flag to verizon where the other wouldn't.

It will break wifi if you remove the module. It ties into dhd.ko, the wifi driver.
Play nice everybody
Just got off the phone with Verizon. Been using the 3g hotspots for several days now tethered more then a gig so and I called and just asked if I was being billed for the hotspots app and they said there is nothing on my account about it that I've never had it and I would never be charged for it unless I actually signed up by changing my plan. So I'm gonna keep using mine. If anything changes I will let everyone know but I personally believe it is safe to use. I think that moniters for when you hit the 5 gig mark on your data then they start to throttle it. But this is just my opinion. But I think its a good one.;-)
Not to mention I've been using it for a pretty long while on eclair before froyo.
In fact I'm tethering right now to my gtab.
I have a couple problems with that.
First, if you admitted it, your account was likely flagged.
Second, VZW reps change their stories each time you call.
The monitor wasn't in place on eclair.

Does the same thing hold true if you wanted to use WiFi Tether for Root Users? Maybe this has already been answered, but I'm just looking for confirmation. TIA...

If it's any consolation, VZW doesn't have a flagging system, at least not one the frontline reps can access, so mentioning it on a call won't flag you. And the reason the stories change each time you call is because you might get a guy that's adept at what he does on the first call, then the next call you might get an outsourced moron from AFNI, and the next time get a person taking their first week of calls....
When you call, they are going to the features list, and looking for the feature called "Mobile Broadband Hotspot 2GB $20". Upon seeing it is not there, that is what they tell you.
What you NEED is a tech rep (like myself) to go into the back-side of the billing system or the switch, and check your records there. The switch will tell me if something is 'off' about your data, like if a rate limit has been added. The billing system will tell me if there are DUN (dial up networking) connections being reported. But, in all likelihood, the groups doing any kind of monitoring are **NOT** the folks taking your calls. They work in the switches or corporate, and their goings-on are a mystery to us that do take your calls. So, they could be minutely tracking each byte and I, as a tenured Tech rep, wouldn't have the foggiest idea what they were doing.
Just to share with you how 'in the loop' we in the call centers are kept, I had an engineer call me last week complaining that his test device couldn't authenticate phone calls. I asked for the number, and it pulls up a device listed as "Test Device 7". I asked for the make/model of the phone, and he tells me, "I can't tell you that, it's unreleased and classified". I then tell him, without even a brand, I can't create a new authentication key and give him steps to program it into the phone. He still wouldn't tell me anything, so I told him to seek help with the person that gave him the top secret phone and hope they can do my job too.
if the op wants to disregard the warnings and tether...then by all means tether...but theres a reason monitoring was put into froyo...and i cant imagine it was for our benefit...so meh

I didnt admit it i told them a family member had my phone and when i got it back the hotspot app was on my homescreen and wasnt for sure what they did with it. Besides even if they do charge me which i doubt they will its only gonna be 30 bucks. I can handle that to let everyone else know what really happens. But its just like people worryjng about sending back rooted phones with changes for warrenty replacements. I just wipe my numbers out and send it rooted boot animation changed everything even a custom rom and theme one time. They dont pay attention to the phones. They get them plug them in and flash them to stock. Just mt two cents. When i recieve my feb bill ill let you know whether or not i get charged anythjng for tethering.

I think I remember something about sprint family tracker. You could check that out, but I think your gps has to have been on.
Depending on how smart the person that picked it up is, you may be able to install a tracking app from the Market from your computer and find it(as long as they haven't logged out of your account). You may be surprised. I would retrace my steps and see if anyone turned it in. Since it is a Saturday night I would assume that most likely you left it at a restaurant or bar. I would go back to each one of them(once they open) and see if someone turned it in. If not, you will have to report it stolen and get a new one through TEP if you have it. I always, ALWAYS carry TEP on my phones. It's a lot easier to come up with $100 deductible then to come up with $600 to buy one outright.
Ok. I'm sober now drinking my coffee.
I had a beer pong table set out on my lawn (I own a lot of land and am going to be combing it today) but I know its not there. I got in the car with somebody to get cigs (with baggy sweat pants on) at the local convenient store. I went back to the store (piss drunk) and asked the two girls if they've seen it and nada ****ING thing (its not in either of the two vehicles either)
I've called and texted my phone a million times (I have to slow down or my battery will die). I do have the $100 dollar insurance but am bummed out about the new hboot.
What's the name of the app that tracks it and how do I install it to my phone from either my tabs or PC?
Thanks guys.
Edit... I just read what I wrote..... I may still be a little drunk. Hiccup. Hope that all made sense.

The name of the app is Plan B. It's by the same company as Lookout.
Here's what it says on their website: "Lookout has an app called Plan B which can locate your phone after you've lost it. The phone needs to be powered on and have a network and data connection. Just go to the online Android Market (http://market.android.com), log into your Android Market account, and install the app to your missing phone. If you are able to install the app and it runs, you will begin to get emails to the Gmail account that you have registered with the Android market with location information."
I also read after you install it, you have to send a text that says "locate." I've even read where someone didn't start getting the emails til the next day. The phone had died, but then the person who had it recharged it!
Oh, yeah. After you install the app to your phone, install Lookout to your tablet, just in case. Not only can you do the locate thing, but Lookout also examines any app you download for malware.
Hope this helps. Keep us posted.

You can log into the market from your computer and have it install plan b on your phone remotely . The phone of course has to be on and your gmail account still linked on the phone. Plan b is for when you have already lost your phone and didn't have a tracking app installed. I just installed the sprint tep app that does the same thing as lookout for for free(I'm guessing you need to have tep for it to work?) That won't help now(plan b is your best shot) but it will help in the future if you ever misplace your phone

Hotspot hack..?

Looking through the menus on the ##778 on the rezound I noticed what was used on the incredible to "hack" into the hotspot capabilities of it. Can we use this for the rezound? as follows..
1. dial ##778 call.
2. edit view - enter password 000000
3. go to security sub menu
and here is where I'm a bit unsure and want to get some insight before trying it out....
4. S.IP DUNN User name
on the incredible for this step you enter [email protected]
on the LTE phones it should be (as it's duplicated above as your ppp user id
[email protected] OR would we stull use [email protected] and have access to this on 3G only?
Would this get us the bypass we need, or is this verification handled onboard with the SIM card?
Just thinking out loud here guys, all input welcome!
I would say try it and post your results

It was a promotional thing, but seems to have stuck to some accounts. One of my accounts still has it, not sure why. I pay for the unlimited hotspot as I am an employee, and I am not much for stealing, but not the line I am speaking of. Not sure what the rhyme or reason is, probably would remove it when changing devices so if you stick with devices that use regular 4G sim cards and not micro sims I would bet it will stick around until its audited off.
that's interesting that the promotion stuck to some accounts . I don't really think of it like stealing I suppose except in the sense that I'm taking advantage of an app Verizon included to be paid for *shrug*. Since I use an app like PDAnet or something else anyways it's not THAT big of a deal. It's just a lot easier to turn on tether and sit down at my computer, or ANY computer. rather than download an app on every pc I would use it on and physically plug in the phone everytime.. not that it would last more than an hour tethered without being plugged up or anything.
anyhow, so as of this point we're at VZ's whim for tethering?

What has Google bought for you?-NFC

Made my first purchase today using NFC and it was smooth as silk and I can see myself using this a lot.And i was shocked to actually see how many NFC enabled retailers are out there. There is an app that tells you all the retailers around you that support Pay Pass, here's the link. http://tinyurl.com/PayPass
Google has bought me with the provided $10 upon enabling Wallet:
1:Mountain Dew(1)
2:Snicker Bar(1)
3:Wrigley Double-mint Gum(2)
Total= $5.58 ($4.42 remaining)
Thank you google
Visited local 7-11
2 packs of BBQ sunflower seeds ($.99 each)
And java monster.
$4.98 remaining. Thanks google!

I've attempted two purchases so far, and for some reason it doesn't work. I get a message saying sent, then I get a message saying check with the clerk to make sure the transaction has processed and it doesn't go through. Kinda disappointed, so far.

Cant add Visa cards? thought I seen somewhere you could
Totally forgot to try out the NFC at Jack on Sunday, or dinner could've been on Google! dang...
So now I'm checking around in the search app, and it turns out The Microsoft Store accepts paypass. Hehe, Wish I had an excuse to go in and buy something with my NFC Android Phone. That would be so epically awesome. "Your phones can't do that?"
LOL!

You can add money to the Google card from a visa

Did anyone find it odd when you used your phone to pay instead of a card? I know I would be a bit suspicous or confused by it if I were the cashier. I still need to find some place that I can use googles money at.

When you get the message saying "check with clerk to make sure transaction has processed" it will also say "or tap again to complete". Just tap the phone to the pay pass again and it will say "sent" for the second time and then the transaction will be complete.

I am looking forward to trying it, and I know that I will find it odd. I hope it works and there isn't an issue. I hate little commotions.
I'm hoping the whole "Unsupported device" message since I rooted is just a notice. I am showing that I have a balance of $10.

Question? Do I need to log onto the app to use the Wallet or can I just place my phone (as long as it is turned on) up to the terminal?
The directions in the wallet are very vague.

If you have a pin lock then yes it'll ask you to type it in. My steps I took yesterday were, turn on screen, scan, it opens app then says scan again to send. Scan again, all done. Or receive that damn message like I also did and just scan again. All done.

Good god, I went to 7-11 and bought a couple stuff fine with it. Then I went to CVS to try it and I mar sure I had enough money to pay for it and it didn't work. I held it up to the terminal and it did nothing at all.... Any ideas? It was the same kind of terminal thing that was at 7-11

I think some stores that have the paypass machine, don't actually have the machine hooked up to work with it.
If it does nothing at all, I'd imagine thats the case. It wasn't setup on their end.

Tether without root

Looks like the same method to get tether/hotspot without rooting that works for S6 also works for S7. Just like the S6 thread in which /u/KennyG123 pointed out a working solution originally for Note 4 by /u/MasterTentacles, here is the solution that also works for S7:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4-sprint/general/lollipop-hotspot-root-flashing-t3048163
Similar to last time, since there is no root involved, knox isn't tripped and samsung pay still works. Similar to before, you still need MSL and need to re-apply the above settings with any major software update.

If you get your phone activated in a store, and are on an Easy Pay plan, they normally will not give you your MSL because the phone is "not yours" yet.
As soon as you get the phone, the next day, get into a chat with support and ask for a copy of the manual activation steps. This should give you the MSL as well. You might have to coach them into what you want. They tried to point me to the web activation, then to a semi manual activation, then the full manual one.

The reboot method still works after the update...
Reboot phone,
As soon as is possible navigate to and turn hotspot,
it usually works on 1st try,
if you get 'no data connection', quickly turn off and turn on hotspot again.
if you get 'not subscribed to this service', start at reboot again.
This is not my find,
it is from other GS7 hotspot thread.

I have yet to find a way around it. There is a new update out. I have not installed it yet, still waiting to see the reports on what it changes.
For now, I can confirm that turning your phone off and then on, and activating hot spot immediately let's you turn it on.
The latest update improved Voice over WiFi, which I need to be better for work, so I'm sadly going to be the guinea pig for this update. I'll report back soon on whether or not it locks out the previously mentioned working option.

Scratch that; it detects you don't have the subscription after a moment even before the update.
Reboot method
I did do the update and reboot method still works for s7 sprint..... just play ps4 rainbow six siege 8 good rounds and didnt glitch....psb gamer tag Y2JVO69
How did you get it to work
Reboot your phone. As soon as you can unlock it open the hot spot settings and turn it on. Then connect something to it right away.

This is correct! Follow this YouTube video and it'll work for you to. Just verified on my unlocked GS7.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-oXrIrdGcS0
It's not perfect or consistent for me, I had to reboot it a couple of times to get it to work more than a few seconds but the second time it stayed on for several minutes! I went to test the internet and it was working as you would expect. This is awesome!
