U can use file explorer with system acces (es file explorer is what I use). App is in system/app folder and it's easy to extract it and push in your ROMs system. I'm not sure if it will work though

Hi again,
I just tried the option with flashing the old htc fm radio app into the system/app folder. From what I've seen it doesn't work.
I extracted the apk from a previous backup with the stock 4.0.3 rom. I didn't find any additional libs or anything but after rebooting the app didn't show up.
Also on a AOSP Rom as CM10.2 it is not very likely to get a HTC/Sense app running. Therefore I looked around and found another option: thr Spirit FM app
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1059296
But here as well I wasn't lucky and didn't get any positive results...
If anybody has better luck or experience with the Spirit FM let me know, I'd be happy to have a simple FM radio back

[REQUEST] Need the default Radio app

Hi! I am currently using an unofficial port of CM7 on my O1. I downloaded from this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=946354
However, the radio app in this ROM is not pretty good, it won't scan channels and the quality is bad as well. While fiddling with Titanium Backup, I deleted the default app!
I was trying to find the default radio app but couldn't find it. Can someone please help me with installation of the default radio app for O1? I would like to go for the original radio that came with 2.2 since that was perfect for me.
Guys please help me!!
It will not work on CM7. Extract it from the CM7 build.
OK. Well, can you tell me or guide me to some threads which can tell me how to go about it? Or is there any other app that I can use to tune into local radio? Please help me with this.
Download the build that you've flashed and open it with winrar or winzip. Navigate in it to apps and search for the radio app. I think it is called FM.apk. After this, push it via ADB or copy it with root explorer to /system/app.
Don't forget to change permissions.
P.S: also copy FM.odex and change permissions.

Thanks for the info badeaioan. But can you please direct me to any posts which can guide me regarding pushing files using adb? I tried using Ghost Commander but couldn't get it to copy files into the /system/app folder since it is giving me a -Read-only File System error. Can I use Terminal Emulator? If yes, how??? I am not a developer that's why I am asking so many questions.
Froyo FM Radio app needed
I'm with the same problem, I had 2.2 Froyo on my O1, and today upgraded to Cyanogenmod 7 port, Gingerbread 2.3.3 witch came with an FM radio app tha does not suit my needs, incluing turnig bluetooth on without needing it...
I'm no debveloper either so I would like some instructions in changing radio app.
Thanks
Same problem here

I do not understand what these instruction are for. Wouldn't the procedure reinstall the rom radio app we do not like? It is too late, am I missing anything? If so, sorry

Hey guys. Copy the file to /system/app/ with the root explorer change the permissions (rw-r--r--) and reboot.
Working on 2.2 with devoid.franco.
Try it and leave your comment.
2.2 Radio app wont work with CM7, Radio app "hacked" by Mik has some problems, if you cant live with CM7 radio app, then I suggest for you to go back to any 2.2.x ROM.
Previous instructions were just for reinstalling CM7 radio app
EDIT: Try this one, see if you like it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1071312

I +1 somanshmittal.
I love the FM radioapp by from LG. Is there any way to work it in CM7.2 !
yes please
The Radio on froyo 2.2 was indeed much better than Cyanogen Mod7.2 . It had 12 channels, as opposed to 6 channels. and auto scan as well. Can someone suggest me how to get a better Radio App than the one on CM7 ?
You would have to buy spirit fm unlocked else try to hack on your own. There is no way yet to make it work. Also as mentioned previously on this forum fm and Bluetooth are on same chip. So turning on one will start the other
Sent from my LG-P500 using xda app-developers app
Since FM & BT are on same chip (H/W), whichever rom u use, it turns on both, only the BT icon is not enabled in default FM

I backed up just in case, but anyone have any suggestions to make these work? I'm using Neutrino 2.1p.

unzip the file, pull out the apk, then move it from your sd card using root explorer to system/apps, change mount r/o to mount r/w, replace the old apk. set permissions to owner: read write; group: read; others: read. Then mount as r/o. close out and reboot. should work.

Stock FM radio app for ICS 4.0.4?

Hi all. I installed hydrogen.ics with ics 4.0.4 and everywhere I looked for, nobody was able to restore the original FM radio tuner app that comes with the official ics 4.0.3 from Samsung.
Is there a place somebody can point me to so I can download a backed up or compiled apk of this app?
Or if I'm asking for an impossible, could you guys please explain me why this is not possible? I find hard that having the original app from the official rom nobody could have taken it and packed it into an apk for easier installation, but I'm surely missing some or several points.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Cesar.

I think that the radio app that comes with stock Samsung ICS is dependent on the TouchWiz framework. So it won't work on am AOSP or AOKP ROM.
Try Spirit FM Radio from the Play Store.
Spirit fm radio from the play store works as the stock radio used to.
Just make you sure you go in settings - audio - and choose galaxy s2 test

Thanks for the replies, people. I knew about the Spirit FM Radio app. That was the only one I found on my previous research and that was also the reason of my post, because I wonder how was that there's only one app for this, when it's something so basic on so many phones.
I'll stick to ctomgee's answer regarding that the stock app might be dependant on TouchWiz framework (I guess the TW framework can't be used in any custom rom either, right?)
Thanks again.
Regards.

[Q] how to replace htc apps with google AOSP apps (calendar and contacts)

Hello, I am having some issues with the HTC apps for calendar and contacts and was thinking I could try installing the Google AOSP apps for the respective ones to see if things improve.
I was thinking to take them from the most recent CM10 build from Sept 18th.
When I look under system/app folder I see both the app (calender and contacts.apk), however for each there is also a file with ... provider.apk for each.
Do I need to copy both?
Do I need to "install" both and set persmissions for both?
If someone could walk me through specifically what to do and in what order that would be great.
Thanks very much for any assistance that can be provided.

thanks but how do I know which one will work with my phone and ROM?
Is it just based on the android OS version and not specific phone and ROM version?
For example I am on an ICS Energy ROM for an HTC Amaze.
Would I just take the CM 9 version (201204029)?
I presume I can flash it from my 4ext recovery?
Will it just install all GAPPS and leave my current calender and contacts app there as well?
Can or should I remove them or just leave them?
Thanks for your help and suggestion.

Not sure how AOSP apps will work with a SENSE rom, only have xp installing on a CM rom. So, make backup in 4ext (of existing rom) just in case installing 'em screws things up.

hmmm...
I tried already a few of them and it's quite strange that installation fails... do fm radio applications (non-streaming) require any extra things beyond the apk file??
any help please? One of the few apps on google play says it only works with motorloa, so I guess there is a dependency on the model/brrand thus not just any radio app will work. And why should not work with the stock one? (which is just fine for me)
If anybody knows of an fm radio that works with galaxy ace s5830i please let me know!
