New ROM build and radio stack
There are two firmware components to the xda. The ROM which is the operating system plus built in applications, and the radio stack which controls the communication functionality of your xda.
Due to the integrated nature of the xda, O2 works with multiple vendors to create each new ROM/radio release. This takes time. Future xda ROM/radio releases planned for the UK this year will provide:
Improvements to the radio stack for smoother application and communication interfacing
GPRS modem capability
A smart menu to provide faster access to key applications such as email
Multi Media Messaging (MMS) capability
A new WAP browser
The next UK ROM/radio build will be available in March. It will be made available free of charge, downloadable from the 'xda software' section located at www.o2.co.uk/xda. Its contents will be confirmed on release.
Details of this announcement can be found at:

Hey XDA Developers...
Wouldnt it be great to get the source code for the radio stack and be able to reverse-engineer how the radio stack talks to the rest of the phone...
I am sure the key is the radio stack.

WoooW ) looking forward to march )
I hope they FINALY implement GPRS Class B. Having a GPRS Class C device as a primary phone drives me nuts!
Whats the difference between class C and Class B?
Gene
GPRS Class A allows simultaneous GPRS data transfer and a voice call without any interruption.
GPRS Class B allows you to stay online and receive a Call, but holds any data until you hang up. You don't have to reconnect after the call.
GPRS Class C drops data tranfer during voice call. You have to reconnect after the call (and you lose all connections you had).
For example ICQ recovers from a voice call easily on GPRS Class B device(if you speak for half a minute, not an hour). It just retries to send all data after the call (Well, in fact that's a feature of TCP stack).
XDA-based devices claim to have GPRS Class B capability, however they efectively have only Class C.
Roll on March
My birthday on MArch 12th,What a birthday pressent!!
I had my XDA since September so an update is well overdue....
With MMS on its way, maybe a work aroud for the lack of SDIO is on its way with a camera attachment....
In some aspects the lack of functionality on the XDA is laughable...
An old Erixsson T68i still looks apealling, sometimes... The Accesories available for this are un-believable. Camera, Radio, Mp3 Player, Laser pointer, Torch, etc... And has blue-toothe, not fair somedays!

My english
Seems like my english isn't flawless as well. Ah well........you've got the message
It's ETEN P60x ...
I was surf the net while the phone ring. I go ahead and answer the phone, it did take a couple of seconds to get the phone connected. There was a beep and I've noticed the GPRS signal was gone.
It is a bug or the xda was build like this? Is there any way to have both GPRS and phone up and running?
i never had that issue
maybe it's an operater issue or you use an old rom / radio stack
I and several others I've spoken to about it had a similar question. After some testing (and close reading of the O2 website) it turns out that this is 'as designed' behaviour. GPRS is "always on", but only while you are not making a GSM call. After your call finishes, the GPRS should automatically reconnect.
O2 cleverly glosses over the issue in its marketing materials by calling it "always on" just like that - in inverted commas - and explaining that you can be 'signed in to MSN Messenger all day' which is sort of true, in the sense that if you set up MSN Messenger to connect automatically (at considerable bandwidth cost!) it will reconnect when the GPRS connection is re-established after you complete a voice call.
This is my understanding anyway. If anyone knows more (or can reliably inform me that there is a ROM fix that will keep GPRS really always on, then I'm very keen to know...!
Greg.
BTW my ROM version was already the latest 3.20.06 ENG
Radio version 4.21.01
Here is what I just did.
I had GPRS enabled and try dialing a number. As soon as I got GSM connected, GPRS was no longer available and will not automatically reconnect.
Is there a setup for GPRS reconnection?
How do I go about the set my xda as GPRS always on?
Do I have to set my MSN Messenger to connect automatically in order to re-gain the automatically reconnection?
Thanx in advance.
Just went thru the FAQ's on myxda.com and here is what I've found.
12 . After finishing a phone call, sometimes I cannot use GPRS to surf the Internet? Is this correct?
Yes, GPRS needs to be re-connected if a phone call is made during a GPRS transaction.
21 . Can I make calls while surfing the net?
No, your gprs cannot be connected while a phone call is commencing.

Type in GPRS for the keywords.
I live in the UK and use T-Mobile as MY phones’ service and Data provider.
I have recently purchased a HTC P4600 aka The Fuze or Raph110
Unlocked but “at&t branded”.
friends has said that The Fuze is the American Equivalent version of the UK HTC touch Pro So as you know the Fuze has a USA Configuration. I don’t know that much about Opera Mobile but my guess is that it wont work in the UK. When I request to open a Opera Media page I get a Error Message HTTP gateway timed out etc. On my request T-Mobile Sent me an Automatic Configuration Text to my phone and eventually I Got connected - once connected I accessed Internet Explorer successfully so I knows the phones IE works in the UK. But now it don’t. I get a: “Cannot Connect Bubble” To change your connection settings tap Settings Settings and I do wonder why the Data settings have changed although I had put my T-Mobile sim card in another phone to test some functions I also Uninstalled the Built in “Proxy4CWS.cab” thing but when I read up a little about it I reinstalled it which helped a bit. I have also tried to connect and setup the built in Windows messenger But I get a Media Net Error message It seems as though Opera Media, Media Net, Messenger, Yahoo and IM needs the Media Net connections modem settings which seems to be hard fixed to a USA Configuration, they are not consulting the systems custom settings set by me the User;
which would be: T-Mobile Inter.

to help aid this diagnostic I had deleted all the other connections Modems Namely
Media Nets, AT&T ISP, My Work ISP, My ISP but when I customised The Media Net’s I had a better response from messenger but not a complete connection The phone is also turning the Data Connection off randomly which is probably a product of me trying to find my way around this problem. Please Note I do have a successful Connection using T-Mobiles 3G Network. The phones Email Connection wizard works so well and I receive my Emails as I should. Along with Syncing Outlook through Active Syn 4.5. That Function seems to request the protocols I need it to be requesting. Being that the phone is a World Phone “at&t branded” Im expecting that I can iron out the Issues here for successful use in the united kingdom

Hey, i'm in the uk also, while i haven't encountered your specific problem i'll share what i know! I have used a few different roms some that are designed for the AT&t network, alot have a cab which is "Remove Hidden Proxy" maybe is this hidden proxy stuffing you up? worth a look, I do as you have and edit the MEdia net connection for my network Vodafone, but the settings vodafone send me never work so i enter them in manually found on http://www.filesaveas.com/gprs.html
I'm sure you've tried that, you could also try flashing a new Rom from here I am using RRE 5.8 RC2 and is Fast Stable and Reliable, it has everything Pre loaded exept Opera which is easy to find. Make sure you Hard SPL first though and follow Flashing your first Rom instructions for Rapheal,
Also just had a thought try a cab called Diamond Tweak in it you can enable /disable network connections and various other stuff that might be of help! i hope that helps some, let me know
just one extra thing you may be better posting this in Rapheal General as this part of the forum is for Rom development, I know its sort of a rom issue but you'll get a more positive response I think!! Safe.
hi there
im currently using a Raphael on the T-Mobile network, and as said by osrix25, removing the proxy tends to work.
also, why havent you flashed a custom rom yet?!!!! get flashing dude! any of the custom roms are miles better than the stock roms
search for 'connection wizard', its a program which does just that, sets up your connection for you after you select teh country and network!
good luck!
Hi,
I'm also on T-mobile (contract). Custom ROM - Cheers NRG
like previous posters, unchecking proxy works for me.
I get no problems with the settings you have in your post.
Maybe try another ROM?
Hi everyone
While calling can't use internet in mobile ..
When i use 3g or 4g network then i am able to use internet while calling
But when i use 2g network with gsm setting . i can't use Internet while call
Reply with solution guys thanks .
There is no solution. 2g doesn't support simultaneous voice and data. It is just a limit in the tech. Nothing you can do.

I dug up some info here
EDGE (and GPRS) are capable of supporting simultaneous voice and data ONLY if it is a Class C device.
Most phones these days are Class B (such as iPhone).
Class B support voice calls while in data mode (data disconnects when a call comes in) and data is "attached" while the phone is idle. Some Class B devices are configured so that the data takes priority (iPhone). Thus an iPhone will not take a call when an active edge data transfer is ongoing..it goes to voicemail.
Class A devices are either in data mode or voice mode (but never both).
The priority of voice vs data is set by the carrier, so perhaps what you describe is that you have a Class C device and some towers are configured differently from others.
Don't forget too that sometimes things like web pages are cached on the device, so what 'looks like' data transfer is just loading from cache, or things like updating an email inbox happens a long time after the actual email data has been transferred to the device.

Ok
That means my device is class B or A
So i cant use both at same time .
Right?
Hi Guys,
1. I am NOT an expert as to how VoLTE works in the back end.
VoLTE is the use of LTE to carry voice calls, as opposed to falling back onto 3G / 2G to carry the voice call. Advantages include, lower connection time, wideband audio, etc.
I've recently spent some time changing the CID and firmaware on my HTC 10 to one that is region specific to enable VoLTE on my handset.
It appears the way Apple implements carrier settings means that different carrier settings can be delivered to any iPhone, but it appears Android is currently managing this differently, as OEMs are creating variants of the software to cater for each region/carrier's variations.
What this means for me is, even if I purchase an unlocked device, if it isnt from my region, I will likely have to do extensive modification to enable VoLTE.
Does anyone know if Android N manages VoLTE differently? What's el-Goog thingking here?
