Some Mobile Phones are (connected over InfraRed) Standard Modems for Windows XP.
Is it possible to use the XDA as modem for the PC ? I've found a way to connect mobil to the Internet in Germany fur just 3 Cent/min, but there is no modem driver for the XDA ...
Only a Screen_Connect to the XDA (some tools offer this function) is possible to enhance the usability.
There's a way to use the XDA as a modem listed on this site. The method has a number of disadvantages, one being you need a serial cable.
http://xda-developers.com/modem
Otherwise, wait for newer ROMs (> 3.16 ?) that will probably incorporate both IR and serial modem capabilities.
Hi, this is probably a computer problem. Yet, I tried to install my xda as a modem as described at XDA-DEVELOPERS. When I got to the step where the serial port is chosen. THere is nothing to chose.
Any help?

Hiya Folks
I wonder if you could helpme with a bit of a problem, i have recently attempted to upgrade my XDA using the reccommended downloads from O2, this upgraded my ROM and the GSM part of the XDA. however when trying to get into my XDA it freezes, i can get into the bootloader but get a GSM error, am i able to flash the GSM, if so where can i get the flash and how would i carry this out. i have got into the GSM part of the bootloader and the GSM will not turn on. i have tried copying the GSM from a friends XDA only to find the message "please connect to RS232 and run PC monitor now" . O2 say pc monitor is a software package for checking the system, Not for use by the public,!! (send your XDA to us we want your hard earned cash) or can anyone direct me to a gsm rom download so i can flash my XDA.
Hope you can help
Cheers guys, you are truly more useful than the folks who we obviously look up to at O2!!!! Mind you this does not say much!!
Thanks again
Dave

I am looking for any CSC packages that can be flashed by CWM.
I have three identical SGSII phones, and have brought them all on holiday to Thailand. Two of them are working fine, but one cannot connect to the network. After some investigation, I have found that the one that does not work is actually not able to even see the network that the SIM card is issued by. It can see several others, but even when I put a SIM card from one of those, it still doesn't work (I took it to a shop and they had a few cards to test).
I have a few theories:
1) The CSC package is either incorrectly installed, or is not compatible with the networks here.
2) This is a variant of the i9100 that is not compatible with the networks here. However, it is using the same ROM file (Galnet MIUI 2.6.15) as the other two, and About Phone reports i9100 as the model and I can find no indication otherwise.
3) The phone (which was purchased from a second hand dealer in Australia) was reported as stolen in Thailand, and the local networks have blocked the phone's IMEI for connecting.
1 can be easily tested. Are there any CSC packages which can be flashed via CWM? If so, I can try those to see if that fixes it. I am reasonably sure that 2 is not the case, but I cannot rule it out. 3 I can only find out by lengthy investigation here, and I have no intention of going that far.
So, where could I find CWM flashable CSC packages?
Here. I'm sure searching Google or XDA will throw up other sources.
CWM versions?
The problem is that I am overseas and do not have access to a machine with Odin that I can trust to do a proper flash. I have used Odin before from a PC with improperly installed USB drivers. I got the yellow COM box, but the process did not complete and the phone was soft-bricked, causing me a lot of inconvenience.
So if I can flash the CSC via CWM that would be far easier for me. Are there CWM versions of these packages?
i was following the st flash tutorial. I can never get dfs to read my phone. when i click on ports or manager depending on version of dfs. I see my ports, one diag serial port and one modem port. when i try and connect to the daig serial port nothing shows up in dfs it just shows cps na in all the fields. when i try the modem port it flashes some info in a couple fields and thats it. I dont know whats going on? I dont have a samsung cable and im using a htc one. im thinking maybe that could be my problem even though i see the ports??? any help would be greatly appreciated. thank you
Samsung cable made no difference
in cdma workshop 2.7 i get phone does not answer
ok got it. had to change it from diag, null to hfk, diag.
i would delete but might be useful for somebody else
How do you figure the android's original firmware?
I have a Samsung Galaxy S III, i9300, the international version. I modified its firmware long time ago without backing up the original firmware.
Since Samsung has updated its devices with newer versions recently I have decided to go back to the original firmware so that I would be able to update my device via Samsung Kies but it keeps telling me since the firmware has been modified updates are not available for my phone.
I have access to MEID and IMEI numbers and probably some other numbers that are listed on the same page.
Is there a way for me to figure out what was the original firmware using those information? I purchased it on ebay and the seller is not listed anymore so there is no way for me to ask the seller.
Even with flashing a new rom, Samsung Kies still tells me that it won't update it because of firmware modification.
When I go online on SamMobile it is showing me different versions of i9300XALE8 or i9300ALEF but how do I figure which one was originally mine?
Thank you.
you can force kies to update your device. be advised that if you ever used a rom with an mg4 or mg2 modem or newer that you may not be able to connect to your mobile network after upgrading through kies. to force an upgrade you need to start kies with your phone not connected to your pc. next go to firmware upgrade and initialisation. enter your serial number and model number. put your phone in download mode and then connect to pc with usb cable . kies should then upgrade your phone to the latest firmware for your region. If you lose network connectivity or have an issue with imei. you may want to flash an mg4 or mg2 modem. this should get your network back.

It keeps asking for the model number which is: GT-I9300 and every time I enter it, it rejects it and says: "please check the serial name and enter it"

I purchased it via ebay as an international version. There is no way for me to figure what region it belongs to. The only thing that I remember is that when I got it, and started it, the default language was French which is being spoken in many countries.

You don't need the original for the device. You can just use the latest for your country / region.... then get updates locally.
