i had my first xda and was very happy to have one until this morning. i upgraded my 2002 to 2003 and setting it up for easy use.
while i was changing the phone settings i checked the 1900 north america network setting. and restarted my xda. untill then i cannot be able to use it as a phone because the network of my country is 900 europe.
i am trying to enter the phone settings but it doesnot respond.
can anybody help me to solve this problem? i am really locked right now...
Try to go to the GSM menu in the bootloader ... select the right band and soft reset ... you can get the GSM menu by pressing the Calendar button while in the bootloader mode.
Good luck ...
i am really very happy to have such an informative answer from you. but as i mentioned i am a new xda user and donnot have any idea of what the bootloader is.
can you please give me a detailed information of what i need to do?
all you need to know i suppose (know about getting in and out of the bootloader anyway )

Can you help ?
I've tried with force_cdma=1 (Select network is disabled) and force_cdma=0 (SIM unlock to use Phone). Please guide me to use Froyo/Gingerbread with GSM SIM.
My phone is a unlocked global phone which woks fine in (Verizon HTC Touch Pro2) WinMo 6.5/ Not sure how to make the network working with Android.
If you are GSM you definitely want to remove the force CDMA command completely.
And define 'NOT WORKING', does it freeze on boot? radio not work at all? etc.
Also what model is your phone?

Not working: Its not exactly not working. Its mobile network is not available. It says "Setup SIM unlock" or "Enter SIM PIN to use Phone".
My phone is from Verizon (CDMA). I was able to use the phone with a GSM SIM in WinMo. But the same SIM is not working under Android Froyo (I guess its 2.2, the latest stable android posted here)
My spec is attached below,
RHOD500 32M SS-BC
SPL-0.72.000
MicroP (LED) 0x0A
MicroP (KEY) 0x04
TURBO HW/TURBO SW
TP MFG DATA
512,520 805,846
805,196 217,194
219,846 Calibrated
Please revert if you need more details.
If it's asking for a SIM PIN, you need to disable PIN request on startup (do this in WinMo).
Pin unlock at startup is not available in Android. Yet.
Nope, it's not mobile phone's PIN unlock or security unlock. Its about SIM PIN to use the GSM SIM installed in the mobile can be used. It shows no network coverage (at the top next to battery status) or "No Service" (on the mobile phone unlock screen).
I'm able to use a GSM SIM in WinMo 6.5 without any issue. Because its an global unlocked mobile.
Lemme give a brief summary of the steps I've followed to setup Froyo/Gingerbread.
1) Downloaded the respective ROM (Froyo/Gingerbread)
2) Extracted and copied in to my microSD (8 gig) card (I've never formatted)
3) Copied the relevant (RHOD500/startup.txt) in to the same level as haret.exe. Modified the startup.txt/force_cdma=0 from force_cdma=1 (cos my phone is a Verizon or CDMA version - at least as per my understanding)
4) Selected haret.exe to load Android
5) After the bootup process is over, tried to explore the loaded Android. Everything else is working almost smooth (though with slight response delay) except the mobile network.
I'm now unable to make/receive calls or send/receive SMS or anything which requires mobile network. When I selected at Wireless Network/Mobile Networks, it shows some "Searching for mobile networks" and freezes. And when I tried to uncheck Location & Security/Setup SIM PIN/XYZ "not sure of the item, but something related to clear lock", the mobile was showing some "SIM PIN".
Note: Also I was unable to install any kitchen ROM or custom ROM, even can't HardSPL. I've attached my mobile spec from the special rainbow color screen (displayed when vol- + reset button pressed)
Hope I've briefed my issue completely. Please help me to resolve the issue. Many thanks in advance.

I don't see any attachment?
So just double check the SIM PIN is totally cleared in WINMO.
What kernel and rootfs are you using?
Also, are you using the default RIL or highlandsun's?
I meant the attached detail as,
RHOD500 32M SS-BC
SPL-0.72.000
MicroP (LED) 0x0A
MicroP (KEY) 0x04
TURBO HW/TURBO SW
TP MFG DATA
512,520 805,846
805,196 217,194
219,846 Calibrated
I'm not a very technical person. Please let me know the steps I need to follow to answer your queries.
1) How to totally clear SIM PIN in WINMO?
2) How to find the Kernel n rootfs version? I've downloaded the "Froyo Complete build - Stable" version from XDA HTC TP2 Android Forum.
3) I donno how to find whether I'm using Default RIL or Highlandsun's one??

This is a very technical process - running Android on a WinMo phone isn't exactly "easily done". Hopefully when it gets more stable, it will get easier to install - but at this stage, there's a lot of things being tested, and you really need to learn your way around the system if you expect to be able to use it - or troubleshoot it.
With that said, if you haven't downloaded a test RIL and mounted it, then I'd say you're using the stock one . If you didn't change anything with the bundle, you're also using the stock rootfs from 2/24.
Disabling the SIM PIN is a WinMo problem - I'm not quite sure how to disable it, I don't use WinMo sorry . If you're not a very technical person, it might be best to stick to WinMo - the phone was after all designed for it. Android may never run flawlessly on our phones, even when NAND flashing has stabilized. So perhaps play with Android, have some fun with it - but don't use it full time if you're not willing to accept the issues.

That's great.
But I'm using an unlocked WinMo. But I've checked with my Service provider. Its nothing to do with the SIM PIN it seems. Its just the default 4 digit (for example 0000) should be entered. But that didn't solved my issue.
I guess its something to do with the device lock, 'm not sure. Cos I was unable to install any customer ROM or even HardSPL. The device easily switches to Airplane mode. But not able to access any mobile network. That's the main problem. Prob.ly if I continue using Android, I mite be able to find out some issues. But using Android that too in my TP2 is really cool (though slightly slower). But I'm stuck with mobile network connectivity issue.
I've seen few threads about "No service" or Airplane mode issues. But I was unable to find a proper solution which could work for me.
Not sure whether it would give any clue, I'm using a i5 win7 64-bit laptop.
I guess I got the solution. I've found the network to "Global" under WinMo. Changed to "GSM Only" and reboot Android. And now I'm able to see all the networks.... Wow!!!!! What a relief now.... Thanks for all you support in this matter

Heh, awesome. I need to remember these little tricks that trip people up .
Something to note: There is clearly something odd about your device. A SIM lock of any sort should not affect your ability to install HardSPL.
Of interest - what radio version are you running? Most people who flash ROMs update their radios too, you might be running an old radio firmware that behaves differently from those most other users have in use.

Yeah even I can sense there's something odd. That's why I've attached the complete environment (PC n Mob) I was using for flashing. Please refer to post #3 in this thread where I've attached the details which you can use for your analysis and suggest me how can I flash my WinMo ROM?
When I tried the ROM/update from Verizon (MR1,2,3), it worked w.o any issue. But when I tried with any customer ROM, I was stuck @ 0% with the error "262" or "260" (I don't remember the error codes, but I guess this can give some idea).
Might be able to get a unique type of CDMA TP2!!! lol.......... ;o)
What does the device say in bootloader mode? (Edit: Saw your third post and that looks like a stock SPL.)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=425922
Error 262 implies that you didn't actually flash HardSPL. What happened when you tried to flash HardSPL as per http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=578660 ?
What's your radio ROM version?

Hi all,
First of all, I want to say thanks for all the help and knowledge I've found on this website - it's amazing.
I've come to you because my sister bought an i5500 from a girl who was on the Telus network in Canada. My sister is on SaskTel, and I believed I would be able to unlock it after looking at xda-dev for some time. After several hours of rooting and attempting unlock, I finally got the BML5 file and opened it in hex editor. After several more hours, I managed to locate my SIM unlock code - 01234567 (Which I find odd, by the way).
Anyway, my sister has since gotten a SIM card from SaskTel and when we insert it, no SIM code prompt appears. I then tried it with my Fido card, and it did the exact same thing - the phone acts as though there isn't any SIM card in. It does, however, state that there's no signal.
Does this mean that the phone is already unlocked? If it is unlocked, I don't know how it happened - the girl that originally owned the phone never hacked the phone or anything. If it is unlocked, why won't my Fido SIM card, or my sister's SaskTel SIM card work?
The other issue I've been having is that the phone will suddenly turn off every 5 or 10 minutes. Could it have happened when I rooted the phone? I used SuperOneClick to do it, then command prompt to pull the img file to my laptop. Did I partially brick it?
Thank you so much for any help you guys can give me; I'd like to think of myself as fairly technically apt, but at the moment, I'm completely at a loss as to how to fix this.
Again, thanks.
---------
EDIT: Found some new info: Whenever the phone restarts, the date, time, and time zone are all reset back to standard. Does this mean that the battery is shot? The phone is less than a year old...
useful thread
Well I don't know about the rebooting, but what I recommend you read this thread,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1335548
specially the last part, which states:
Most custom roms that tries to remove blur break the subsidy lock interface (sim unlock screen doesn't show on them). If you flash other rom and subsidy unlock screen doesn't pop when you insert foreign sim, you will need to flash back stock ROM in order to unlock. So the easyest way for those of you running a Custom ROM, just do a nandroid backup using CWM, flash Stock ROM, unlock your phone then restore your backup.

Thanks for this. I used that link to root and get the code for the phone, but now I'm confused with the lack of PIN unlocking screen. Does that mean that I'm going to have to backup/flash with stock ROM? I'm totally fine with flashing it back to stock if it's not, in fact, I've looked for a stock ROM in case that was the issue. Since it's a Canadian model though, (GT-I5500M) I can't find any. There's a list somewhere on XDA with all the I5500 ROMs, but it says that there aren't any from Canada. Options? Ideas?
Thanks again for the help.
Anyone with any other ideas? Right now I'm trying to decide whether or not we should just sell the phone and get a new one, so any advice/help would be appreciated so much.

Thanks, I did, but there isn't anything for Canada on there. A new problem just cropped up: the WiFi won't turn on. So, even if I wanted to flash it with an official firmware, I don't think I could - I have to use the market to download an app to flash, right?
U can use Odin..

Hi guys,
Hope someone can help me out on this.
I have unlook and s-off my htc evo 3d to upgrade the firmware (to 11.77.3504.00P_11.25.3504.06_M from official release 3.28.707).
However, after I have done the upgrade, my phone no longer have 3g data any more (still can make phone calls and connect to wifi), no matter what rom I flash into.
Anyone had similar problems before?
Thank you

Two things.
1. do ##DATA# and enter edit mode, enter MSL and select profile. Click menu/reset profile. Phone will reboot and do a handsfree activation. THat should solve it.
2. If it doesn't work, call sprint and have them reprovision your phone.

As i know, CDMA bands is LOCKED to Verizon.
Only the GSM bands are UNLOCKED .
Connect stock DNA to PC , pull fresh wmodem drivers installer out of its virtual cd , install em , dial ##3424# and youll have a diag port . Then you can upload any prl with qpst, dfs , workshop and so on.

Thanks littlebo,
OK, I went to IRC, asked the question multiple times, and finally got an answer from quite drunken cerjam1 who did try to help when not calling me names
According to him, it could be a PRL issue (I had to google it).
My question now is : Is PRL included in a ROM or is it lower in the architecture? Right now, I have Nos M7 rom installed, the VZW version. Would installing the GSM version, or another rom, fix it?
Otherwise, can anyone give me some hints on how to change the PRL to have Fido there?
Thanks,
Simo
I was wondering where my post disappeared. I suppose a mod moved it here. I added a little quote from the original post for some context.
Also, since the last post, I installed UKN DNA 1.3.0. Still the same problem.
Also FYI, I had already searched the forums and found this post. Unfortunately, after the ##3424#, I get USSD code running... followed by Connection problem or invalid MMI code.
I do have the right drivers and can communicate with the phone using ADB.
