Factory Reset - MDA, XDA, 1010 General

Hi
Is there a way to 'factory reset' the XDA so that it wipes off all contacts etc. i.e. like its straight from factory.

You just have to stick twice in the little hole down under the Headsetplugin.
This makes a hard reset and all data except from the Rom are cleared....

Rooted Factory Reset

I've got a question I can't find an answer to.
I'm rooted and running the Vanilla ROM, and I'd like to change my primary gmail account on my phone.
Factory Reset seems like the only method, what happens when you factory reset after being rooted?
Can I do a Nand backup of my existing set-up, Factory Reset > reset my mail gmail > restory Nand?
Just curious what will happen if a factory reset is done while running a rooted ROM.
Thanks in advance.
Why not just do a data wipe from the bootloader and then reflash the rom?
Factory reset will reset the phone to where you were when you first loaded the villian rom...so you can put in a different g-mail account but then you will have to set up everything else too...if you do a nand backup before and then restore from your nand it will restore with the current g-mail account that you have on there when you make a backup and not the new one you switched too so if you want to switch your g-mail account you will have to reload all your apps and settings yourself. hope that made sense lol...
Makes perfect sense, thanks greatly.
I figured data wipe would probably be the same thing as factory reset.
No sure if I'm going to do this or not, but I do appreciate the input, and quick response.
Have you tried going into 'Menu > Settings > Accounts & Sync' from your home screen? Then select Google, and remove account, and then add the new one.
Oh, BTW... Hi everyone. Been lurking for a bit, because I have little to offer. But alot to learn. But I will offer when I think I have something worthwhile.
Yep, tried that first actually, unfortunately google/Verizon/my phone, won't allow you to remove the primary account by just deleting it.
Clear data / reflash worked fine though, I'm now set-up with my new gmail account as primary.
Wouldn't really recommend this if you have a ton of paid apps though. Lucky for me I've been cleaning house and getting this rom set up so I'm at minimal apps right now. I did have to repurchase my not-free apps, but that's cool as I only had maybe $10 worth at the most, and half of those I don't even use any longer. I sure theres a way to re-connect your paid apps, but not a huge deal for me.
Thanks again for everyones help,
And welcome chaoss13!

Phone soft reset

Hi all, does anybody knows how to reset phone without doing like factory reset. My understanding if I do factory reset I will loose unroot and phone will go to the original state. I am just giving X10 to my wife and I want to remove my email with all contacts and all other info, so she can use hers. Basically, when she gets it, she has to register her email id to use Market and rest of apps and get her contacts, so nothing would be mine, but keeps all apps and look same. Any ideas?

System Restore Shortcut... Help confirm

Confirmed with Pics. I formatted my tablet just for all of you
I have found a quick way to do a complete system wipe using anycut.
If you go into activity, then scroll down and select settings. It is the third one (there are seven settings options). After placing the shortcut on the screen if you click on it, it crashes your device and causes it to do a data wipe.
I hope this saves you all a lot of time.

Could someone please confirm if this works on your nook tablet and also which setting option you selected. I am not sure which one I had selected but one of them does the trick.
Hopefully this helps people save time.

I found the same. It was the 3rd settings option. I don't think it did a factory restore though: just a reset. I also remember seeing the words "problem authenticating, reseting" or some such

From what I could tell, it wipes all the data to factory and de-registers the device.
When I did it, it reset the entire nook and reset to factory.
This way just erases your user content and de-registers the device, it doesn't do a complete system restore, as it left my Hacker's Keyboard installed and Amazon Video still saw my device as being rooted.
Removed keyboard for me. strange.

Live Wallpapers rest to default background after reboot?

Just got a new Amaze and every time I reset the device the default wallpaper comes back. Doesn't matter which Live wallpaper I choose.
Any ideas?
First question...have you done all the updates?
Second a little more info about your device will help.
I say since its new format your microSD,
And do a factory reset, do all the updates, and see how that works.
What happens when you just set a regular pic as your walpaper?
Also what do you mean by reset?
Are you talking reboot or factory reset as I mentioned?
A factory reset will always set you up with the default wallpaper.

I have a HTC Amaze, Energy ROM, stock Kernel. All updates completed.
Regular pics, no problem.
No, I just mean reboot.

What to do...toss the phone?

My phone has been hacked into and it seems they can enter whenever. I was given a Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000m by a friend, and it's running Froyo 2.2 and the hardware is that of windows (NOW), not my doing. Would an upgrade get rid of those who switch my settings during the night. Should I put a different operating system in...most of this being as clear as mud to me! I can't even download apps without them knowing and they would just join the rest of the grayed out ones. I am beginning to think how far would a Galaxy S skip as I toss it across the river.
Any suggestions would be of help as to what to do about this dilemma.
Have you done a factory reset? I would definitely suggest doing that. If you're rooted I'd make a backup and factory reset. See if that clears up your problem. Also once you have done a factory reset change your passwords to your email (Gmail etc ..) accounts. Whatever you do don't change your passwords until after you've done a factory reset because it may lock you out otherwise for 72 hours.

Let me know how that goes. Factory reset usually takes away any type of spyware on a device if something's been installed.

Thank you, I have done a factory reset, used *#*#7780#*#*, and *2767*3855# many a time with no luck. Whoever it is put a small package in my phone and I only have half the features available. I have tried to erase the ram but get caught. As far as passwords they got into my GMail through GSuite and I have 2 step verification on it using printed out codes. I've notified Google.

I'd do a factory reset in stock recovery.
I believe you can get into stock recovery by pressing volume up, power and home buttons all at the same time then release em all when it reboots. Should get you to stock recovery. I dont use dialer codes. I've been messing with phone's since HTC Evo and Galaxy S2 days. I've never had a virus that a factory reset didn't wipe out. (And a change of my passwords and security checkup.)
Remember if someone logs into your gmail account it will have your phone model as the device that logged in but it's NOT.
I always delete all recognized devices too...
Hope that helps. If so please hit the thanks button as I'm trying to be able to make posts on here and can't till I have 10, not on certain threads anyway.... Lmao.
I hope you solve this issue though.
