Hello,
I'm kinda new to this and was wondering is there a app that would save my user data and restore it after a data wipe when updating or changing ROM's
Thanks
I recommend Titanium Backup, saved me a lot of time when switching between ROMs.
Hi,
I accidently posted this question in the general section, but i think it is more appropriate here. I am running the 07/18 cm7 rom, and after a seemingly random amount of time (anywhere from instantly to 24 hours) after a reflash, or nandroid restore all my apps begin to force close, generally starting with gapps. once the apps start FC there is really no recourse but to restore the phone or try to reflash. i have tried wiping the cache and dalvik, both individually and together, as well as fixing permissions, but none of these options resolves the problem. I have also tried installing all my apps via the market to see if it was titanium backup corrupting backups, but again the phone started crashing. For the life of me i cannot figure this out and i was hoping that someone smarter than i could lend some insight.
Thanks
Same here
I'm actually getting the same problem! I have no idea what the problem is. At first it started with Gapps FC-ing, and now pretty much no apps I have work. Even my Gizmodo app, which is really just a link to the Gizmodo website.
Any ideas?
I tried rebooting .. It works for a little while then the problem continues.
Not sure if your cases are similar to mine.
I made nandroid backup for CM7 and flashed Vanilla GB with wiping dalvik/cache, but without wiping data.
Without wiping data, VGB showed continuous error messages related to foce closing...
Again wiping all three fixed that issue. So wiping data may be necessary.
After restoring my old data with nandroid (data only), it happened again.
I reallized that nandroid restoring was really painful with CM7 or VGB.
My final solution which worked fine was Titanium Backup for restoring old data rather than nandroid.
Nandroid backup is working fine when converting all system, for instance, from CM7 to VGB or vice versa, with wiping data.
Even in this case, you have to restore contacts and calendar separately to SD card using export option.
Nandroid or even Titanium Backup didn't recover my contacts under CM7 or VGB environments.
Hope to help you.
You should always, always wipe data, cache, and dalvik vm cache between flashes, especially if going between roms that utilize different file systems. Otherwise it will be fc city. To fix yours, back up your apps with Titanium, boot into CWM and wipe data/cache/dalvik, reflash ROM and gapps, then boot up and restore only user apps
(not system apps).
So I screwed up and lost the passphrase for TB encryption. I have a good working nandroid backup with all the apps+data that I would want to use for my next rom flash. The problem is when I go to TB and disable encryption on my good backup it doesnt allow me to restore the data when I flash a new rom. My question is is there a way to completely remove TB and all of it's app data so that I can start from scratch with TB in order to good unencrypted backups of my apps+data without completely formatting my sd card? Otherwise I'm stuck on my current rom setup.
Thanks!
Does anyone have an idea of what i can do?
i did the exact same think will update you if i find anything
I flashed the newest AOKP build (Galaxy Nexus Toro), and was getting the error process.android.process.acore has stopped working error. As found on a thread here, I cleared data for Contacts and Contacts Storage. This appeared to work.
I then attempted to restore the data for those two apps from Titanium Backup Pro. Now, when I attempt to open Dialer, it crashes immediately, and if I go to attempt delete the data for Contacts apps again, they aren't even in the list. They are also not in the list for Titanium Backup's backed up data either, mysteriously.
I've wiped Dalvik and tried re-flashing, but am not sure what to do beyond that. Can I fix this without factory reset and/or losing all data?

Hi all !
I need your help because I'm really desperate.
My phone was working fine but I had some error with Handcent application.
I decided to restore a previous nandroid backup (that I had previously successfully restored) but now I've got an "error while restoring data" after a long time working.
Tried to do 3 wipes (data factory, cache, Dalivk), but same issue.
Tried with some other backups, same issue.
I'm really lost....
Is there any way to get me out of this ? :crying:
My phone is now unusable.
When I run the phone after restoring faultly, it asked me my google account, as if it was the first time I was running the phone, and not all applications are installed.
When I try to install missing applications with Google Play, I've got an error, and no way to restore from Titanium Backup, no error but freezes.
Please HELP !
Flash your firmware using Odin or recovery, if the backup is corrupt then it can't be fixed.
Thanks, but this backup was OK last time I've restored it, and I had the same issue with some other recent backups.
It appears that the size was too big, over 2,5GB.
I've restored from a 2,41GB backup and it has worked.
The mistery is why I was able to restore from this backup one time, and now does not work anymore...
