does anyone has "caller2picture" ?
I have the trial version and I want to buy the full one, but on "pocket gear" I've seen a post of a user that bought the full version but he's still unable to assign more then 3 pictures.
Can I thrust them and buy the software or do I have to forget it ?

I've used the trial version with more or less success, especially displaying a chimpanzee picture when my collegues tried to phone me :lol:
I've got the full version and it works fine. I've got about 10 pictures assigned to contacts.

I have to agree with XDA developer Peter Poelman
come on xcahnge - $14 is not a lot for software... that is damned useful...
and entertaining, and intuitive. Instead of moaning why not just develop your own version of the software and distribute it as freeware?
I mean if it cost several hundred pounds and you used it three times you'd have cause to grumble.
Dont forget that programmers have mouths to feed - and being a software developer is as worthy a job as a train driver or electrician.

I am none of these by the way, but I know plenty of programmers!
Dont forget that we need people like this to develop apps for our phones to make them "far more functional" than our friends nokias, or motorolas are.

this is a great site and i normally log in daily i used to have a nokia communicator but the xda is a lot more usefull and the only real website for the xda is my-symbian.com and that started a bit like this site but turned very quickly into a forum for selling software and not really intrested in the people or the product it would be s ahame for this to happen here there is loads of free software out there try downloading bear share and you will get loads of games. anyway keep up the good work on the website.

I only wanted to be able to select different ringtones... caller2picture adds its bloatware crap and removes another useful feature <sending an sms from the contacts> (or has nobody noticed?)

It is useless, because it is generated depending on number on your Register screen. And that one is probably calculated from your name/or other unique parameters of you xda.

Anyone got similar problem. The pictures aren't showing themselves regularly and consistently. They pop up many times less than they don't. Suggest anything, guys? :?

The program does work with my ppc2003. Anyway, you have to remove your sd card before the installation since the system will automatically install the software to sd card even you choose to install on the default location. The Picture2Caller does have some bugs when installed to ppc 2003. That is the software fails to work with all contacts. Anyway, if you feel ok with this, go ahead. Cheers

Tried installing it again withot the SD card, still does not work. What happens is, it does not retrieve the contact's name, and phone numbers.

no pc ones do not work, but there are some out there that you can use on the xda, theres a fish one, a matrix one and two others i know about.

I hope you mean for the time whilst dockin/ charging. I've also seen a picture viewer type, ie picture frame XDA. There are numerous others out there. But whilst my XDA is in its cradle, its normally ignored..
There are also animated today screens out there. Just like any of the other colour mobile phones, but a lot better!! I used one that was a game of solitaire for a while.
I bet you thought it was a simple question, one answer "go here" never happens!!

Ok when i use my xda to make phonecalls i get this ugly (understatement) blue telephone screen with big white area to enter a telephone nummer etc
How do i change this skin? or are there better replacement programs for it??

there is one program capable of doing just that, but i'm afraid you'll have to search the net for it the site http://www.yorch.net normally has it available but his site is currently down.
just keep looking you may find other links on this xda-developers, just try to search. i think i remember seeing a program on pocketpcfreeware - a french site.

I got the software and the serial number for it as well. :idea: The software works like a charm. I have tried it on both PPC 2002 and WM 2003. I use the xda 1(does not work with XDA-2) and the range is limited to 6 feet but the fuctionality of the software more than covers for the range limitation. I've tried to different ones a while back and they never worked. The plan was to flick the channels while pretending to update my diary! Confuse the hell out of someone!
The people at pdawin are working on some sort of program for the xda 2. it will be out soon. I hope.
yeah people say that the ir in the xda2 is not an default ir like the one on xda1 so it dont work with the remote programs but since ir is ir it should be possible to make one which works on xda2
but that dont solve the issue i had with the xda1 as a remote which was that it's max range was 30cm which dont make it all that remote

I have tried VITO Remote for IR Emote Control and VITO Oscilloscope to display IR waveforms and neither works on the imate/XDAII - the developer is still working on it

As far as I can tell there'll never be a working tv remote software for the xda 2. Though it might be possible to use any other if u replaced the actual IR hardware itself.... anyone had any thoughts on this?

I don't know about changing the hardware. Lots of warranty problems and personally i don't want to take the risk for a 5ft range remote control. But it would be fun to try it on a damaged unit though.

I totally respect your opinion but having said that the software should be available to people. You know once it happened that i wanted to download something and had to make a donation for it I was ready and then tried to do it but paypal didn't work I contacted the author and he never replied so i looked for some cracks and finally got them.

I opened his "jokes" from my work PC and received notification of a virus. I didn't particularly want to "lighten up" at that point.
I'm all for the infamous "I'm watching GAY PORN" flash joke, perhaps that would have been a better idea. I just hope I don't get questioned why I received a virus from our internal networks dept. I work for a BIG American IT company and they take these things very seriously.

My virusscanner dident detect anything so it wasnt so harmfull afterall....
Some crapy virusscanners will detect things that arnt even a real virus......

i have mcafee corperate ed. newest 1 out there.
but after all its possible that the virusscanner is set to high so it detect even hoaxes... even ones that doesnt do any harm...
so thats possible..
