'Hard Resetting' of its own accord - MDA, XDA, 1010 General

In the last few days my XDA has been Hard Resetting while working in an application. Then when reconfiguring and performing a soft reset it actually performs a Hard Reset. Also occasionally after eventually managing to restore the config, the screen has shifted upwards by 7 pixels so the top of the telephone icon cannot be seen.
Has anyone experienced a similar problem; internal component failure, dodgy internal battery.
This product is under warranty and will probably have to return to the service centre unless a solution can be found

XDA II keeps hard reseting

Has anyone else experienced this ????
I have an O2 XDA II with 1.72 , 1.14, and for no apparent reason it just decides to turn itself off, needing me to remove the battery. Instead of starting normally, it hard resets itself :/
Any advice welcomed
Just had that happen twice. It didn't turn off though; it locked up hard. The soft reset button would leave it on a black screen. Once I removed and replaced the battery, it was hard reset. Both times it happened on airplanes, maybe it's allergic to them...
What softwares do you install to your XDA2??
if u installed Pocketplus, remove it...
it caused your XDA to be death...
No Pocket Plus in my case, don't like it. I have several programs that provide the same functions, but had not caused a problem in the past.
Do you have a link to some evidence of the Pocket Plus problem?
Hello,
I've got the same problem with a new one. Just sent it back for exchange.
The only software it might have caused problems is iStatus, which worked properly on my old xdaI before.
So however if you've installed this software as well this could be a solution ...
ciao
Hachtl
xda2 hard reset
Had the same prob. too, fixed it by getting rid ofpocket skype.
i seemed to have cured the problem. although i'm not sure which cured it.
The XDA seemed to start hard reseting around the time I :
a) bought a spare battery from PDAMAODS (1400mAh). Am now using the original again
b) upgraded the roms from
1.66WWE (now 1.72.00)
1.10 (now 1.17)
can't remember (now 1.72.126)
c) adjusting the power settings to turn the device off after <5 mins for both battery and external power
I now have have the power setting set to constantly on, have put in the original battery and cleared the ext rom of ALL programs, and it now works fine, although battery life is now crap, as to be expected.
Hope this helps ppl with similar problems :/
Only time that my MDA-II has to hard reset is when I set Bluetooth function on. Maybe there is a bug in Bluetooth

Self formating

Hi, a week ago i bought new phone. Huawei Ascend G300. Everything was fine for a week but yesterday suddenly the phone freeze and i had to pull out the battery. After switching the phone on a screen for factory reset appears. Four lines of errors come up and the phone self formated itself. (error reading data, reading cache etc..). So i set it up again but it happens again today...First it was while i play modern combat 2. Second time when i was just scrolling thorough screens. Anyone know what can do this or how to solve it? (already formated SD card and phone manualy - will see what happens).
Anyway heres hprof error file which was generates after the crash and self format. Please someone who can read it and analyze, can you tell me whats causing it?
Thnx
Anyone?
I can't help, but I've had the same issue (twice yesterday!) myself.
In my case, the common factors to both hard resets seemed to be:
1. I was using Google Navigation (actively in one case, and in the background in the other)
2. The phone was connected to a BT hands free device in the car
3. The phone was charging (via car charger)
Those factors may or may not be relevant, of course. I have had the phone for just under a week, and all my data is on a 16GB SanDisc MicroSD card.
My phone is unlocked, and I was using a Three UK SIM.
In the first case, the Navigation screen went blank and the phone was unresponsive and required a battery pull, after which it simply behaved like a new phone or one which had been deliberately wiped using the Factory data reset option. (I didn't see any errors when I started it up - I *think* I was watching it all the tone, but I can't be sure).
The second time (having just about recovered all my widgets, phone settings, etc.), I was listening to a podcast. The progress bar on the screen reset to zero (so presumably it had time to react to whatever the underlying issue was) and then became unresponsive and required a battery pull. This time when I restarted it, I got something like 6-8 lines of yellow errors on the boot screen (which I wasn't in a position to make a note of) and we were back to the initial startup screen.
I shall be returning it to Vodafone as unfit for (my) purpose / faulty.
Julie
I send it to service and today I'll get it back. This problem is caused by faulty motherboard. Huawei stated that if you have this issue, immediately go and change your phone for a new one.

Thanks for that.

[Q] Where is the Broadcom chip located? (Have I been burned by my repair shop?)

I just received my Note back from a repair shop to have the screen replaced. Since receiving it back, wifi and bluetooth will not turn on at all. I can switch both to the "on" position, but after about six seconds they will switch back to "off," with no message at all.
I had been runny JellyBeans, so I did everything the boards recommended, i.e. rebooting, remove battery, flash back to stock, factory reset. Nothing thus far has worked.
As a Jewish New Yorker, I'm inclined to want to complain to the repair shop that they may have caused this. As a geek and someone who has worked in the service industry, I'm inclined to want to figure out what's true and what's not before I make any claims
I'm hypothesizing that the Broadcom 4334 chip was either 1) damaged when I originally dropped the phone face-down, or 2) knocked out of place/removed by the repair shop
Attached are pics of my motherboard. I do not see any chips that say "BCM 4334,"- is that what I should be looking for? I cannot locate online a description or schematic that shows the chip's location.
Thanks!

[Q] Irulu AL101: No Sound, Dicky Auto-Rotate

Irulu AL101: No Sound, Dicky Auto-Rotate
Greetings.
I had reached a point of near Android-Nirvana with my non-phone 10” off brand (but still pretty nifty) tablet: all of its/my issues had been resolved or accommodated and “we” were actually approaching something akin to productivity. Then, of course, things went bad. Perhaps you can help?
The tablet in question:
Model Number: IRULU AL101
(Currently selling for ~$120 with combo USB keyboard/case & shipping included on ebay, though I bought mine months ago)
Android Version: 4.0.4
Baseband Version: 1.5rc4
Kernel Version: 3.0.8+, Nov 5, 2012
Build Number: crane_al101-eng4.0.4 IMM76D, 20121113 test-keys
The problems:
Auto-Rotate acting oddly.
No sound.
Note: I normally use the tablet in a noisy industrial environment while wearing ear plugs, so I can’t be sure if the sound stopped working the same time the auto-rotate stopped working properly. Earlier this April, I went on a trip and used my tablet as an Internet clock radio, so I KNOW the sound and I THINK the auto-rotate were both working properly then.
The no sound problem is, of course, self explanatory. The auto-rotate problem requires some explanation.
a. When I switch auto-rotate on, auto-rotate switches on. Excellent.
b. When I rotate the tablet, the screen rotates properly. Excellent.
c. If I suspend the tablet (short press on the power switch), the tablet suspend. Excellent.
d. If I turn the tablet back on, the tablet turns on. I am greeted with the tablet locked screen, which rotates properly. Excellent.
e. If I unlock the device, the screen instantly rotates back to the normal landscape position, and the screen will not rotate again. Not excellent.
f. If I inspect the settings, I discover that auto-rotate has become unchecked.
I have done everything a clueless newbie with a computer running a slipshod OS supported by crappie/nonexistent documentation might (e.g., reboot; remove apps; “factory reset”, etc.), but, other than wasting my time and engendering in myself a deep longing for ZDS DOS & CP/M-86, I have accomplished nothing.
Other than taking myself and my tablet to one of Google’s campi and immolating us both in protest, can anyone suggest anything?
Thanks in advance.
MD
Did you ever solve this problem with this tablet? Mine just started doing it. The only other thing I noticed is that the sound will start up if the screen is off, but only once it starts a new music track. Also video playback problems at the same time. I just wondered if you were able to.solve your issue without a factory reset or with a reset. Thankyou for your time.
Dear Bert,
I’m sorry (for both of us), but I never did solve the problem. I went as far as trying to reinitialize the tablet, but the feature that back’s up and restores the firmware (or whatever it’s called) doesn’t work on any Irulu tablet I’ve ever tried (which is two or three).
I eventually just bought another one (and a few spares). I certainly can’t prove anything, but I think installing an app might have corrupted it. I have treated my new tablet like a Windoze computer — i.e., I’ve tried to avoid installing software that can be done without — and thus far all is okay with the replacement unit.
If you have any success, do report back when you have a chance.
Good luck!
MD
Well I have the firmware tools from the board manufacturer, I had recovered this unit from being bricked before. Anyway I loaded a full fresh firmware flash for it formatting the system partition as well. The problem still persists. At the moment my current working theory is power issues internally. For some reason when the screen turns off the sound will return. So I in hooked the backlight and got some static over the speakers. Its almost as if the power is being drained from the sound processor and the tilt sensor causing them to stop functioning. It could also be an issue similar to the trod on xboxes, solder joints under CPU coming undone because of heat. No heatsink or heat spreader on these units. If I can't figure anything else out I may try reflowing the solder. The person this tablet came from lost all paperwork that came with it otherwise I would return it.
If you want recovery mode instructions, firmware and firmware tools let me know. Most of the info I found to help me get that unit back online before was in Chinese. Also Hecate what you do install app wise. These tablets are "rooted" with full system access. Easy to mess up the basic software. These tools should work with all of the irulu tablets. Worst case I do have access to the firmware archive and can get the firmware you might need.
Sorry for rambling here, I have ADHD can you tell.

Dear Bert,
Thanks for the feedback.
At the time this problem appeared, I made some fairly extensive efforts to restore the tablet, which included obtaining the Chinese utility which is supposed to reformat the tablets internal memory and reinstall the operating system. I confess that I can’t recall all the details of what I did, except that my efforts resulted in a broad and impressive variety of failures.
I think I might still have the software/etc. lying about, so I don’t need to avail myself of your very generous offer. Thanks anyway!
Fortunately, other than this issue, I’ve had no trouble with the tablets (the original or its replacement) whatsoever.
Cordially,
MD

Honor 10 reboot randomly

Hi, I have a problem with a Honor 10.
Since August it started to restart randomly, I just replaced the battery and I just did two factory reset but the problem continues to manifest even in the configuration screen.
I would exclude the faulty power button, since before rebooting it usually froze on the activity I was performing.
Any ideas?
Thank you!
Test power button with ohm meter.
It was doing this after the reset with just it's factory load? No 3rd party apps loaded?
Try reflashing firmware.
Maybe be a mobo failure.

I really don't think is the power button because it reboot even in idle on the table, and i saw that if i put it on charge it reboot instantly.
I have this problem even in the configuration screens after the factory reset, indeed i've must configured two or three times because of that.
I'll try to reflash the firmware, then i'll wait for a new battery i ordered a month ago.
If it will be still broken i guess is a mobo failure.
I have a question: i didn't flashed a smartphone before, and i was asking myself if this reboot problem can mess up with flashing, bricking the phone. Can it be possible?

Yeah if it interrupts the flash that won't end well...
If you can return it, do so... otherwise...
Before you go flashing nuts try to determine if it's a hardware issue. Check ribbon cable connectors... and that switch.
Firmware shouldn't become corrupted unless there's a flash memory failure or it was a bad flash to begin with.
Does it not do this is safe mode? 3rd party app if so.
If it does it when in the boot menu it's likely hardware.
If so it may be just a failed battery. Try with charger connected to see if this alters the behavior.
If you don't feel comfortable repairing it, let a good tech do it for you. I always remember my first mechanical alarm clock disassembly... it didn't go well

It reboots even in safe mode!
It would seem a hardware problem, possible that I bought a new battery already damaged?
It’s been a few hours since it works good after charging it to 100%, it seems that it starts to reboot towards 50%.
I wanted to flash it also because before doing the factory reset, it automatically installed some "stock" apps by itself, I refer to some games that Honor automatically installs at each factory reset, every time I uninstalled them, after some restart they reinstalled themselves.
It was a weird issue but looks like fixed with the factory reset, so now i only have the reboot issue.
I am so desperate that I would like to try the battery of my Honor 10 (the one with problems is that of my girlfriend), I would not buy another battery since I have to be delivered the one I ordered from a month.
It may be the battery, they can fail at any time.
It's rare for new ones to fail but it happens.
Use a firewall to block auto updates or installs.
Karma Firewall works well but its valuable logging feature doesn't work on Android 10 and higher, but it still will block apps.
Update: I just bought another battery and the problem persist.
Now im sure is not the battery so i will flash it very soon no matter what.
I have been having the same problem as you guys have since last Christmas (2020), when my phone was 18 months old.
I switched phone and gave the Honor 10 to my wife for Coin Master and the problem persisted.
However, two months ago the battery started to swell and surprisingly the problem went away completely for about a month. But as it swelled to the extent of pushing out the screen the problem returned a month ago.
Thinking it was possibly a battery/battery connection related issue, I changed to a new Pisen battery last night. Sadly, the rebooting continued but only for 2-3 times today.
So it is probably an issue with the board itself.

The battery failure may have damaged the mobo or perhaps it was preexisting.
Check ribbon connector pins for damage. Look around for visible solder cracks. Try pressing gently on the mobo with a pencil eraser with device powered on to try to find the area. Check ribbon cables too by gently moving them.
One of the most likely places for a failed solder joint are the BGA chipsets. The many solder pads are under the chipset, inaccessible.
Press gently on them to try and verify this. A hot air station (and skillset to use it) is the only way to repair this type of failure.
Any battery swelling is a failure, replace it asap.

As I said, battery has been replaced with a brand new one. Therefore the swelling issue is fixed.
Don't have the skill set to use a hot air gun or to solder so this is it for me.
Quite disappointed by the QC of Huawei as this was my first Huawei phone. I have been using Xiaomi since my first smartphone and never had an issue like this before.

My point was a mobo failure is generally a game over event.
I run strictly Samsung's as I like their UI and have become familiar with them. Of course in 2-3 years that could change if Samsung keeps dropping the ball.

I understand.
That said, Huawei did replace the MBs for out of warranty customers in mainland China as a good will gesture.
Too bad that policy did not extend outside of China.

Maybe see if they'll discount a mobo for you.
Not free but it might sweeten the deal.
Or write it off and move on.
All my Samsung's have been long lived with replacement batteries being the only repairs.
Another reason I like them.
In my case it was sort of dumb luck especially when choosing the first Note 10+. In this case they did live up to their hype.
The S4+ lasted over 5 years and still boots up.
I had the random reboots going on for weeks even at night, also bootloops sometimes .
I tried a lot of stuff but i got my phone going again for 2 weeks now without any reboots.
It might be just pure luck but this is what i did last time:
Did a complete reset of the Phone ( everything gone )
I changed simcard to other simslot (i think this made the difference, atleast for my phone)
No apps from Meta (You dont want any of their **** anyway )
ill keep you posted

Yay!

Hey guys, it seems that I solved the problem by bringing the phone to a Huawei service center, they performed an "operation on the motherboard".
Actually they changed the battery with an "original" one for 60€ (the one I had replaced cost 10€ ), then when the problem obviously came back they did the repair on the mobo at no extra cost.
I guess it went well.

Did you had any reboots after the motherboard change?
I got the same issue with my Honor 10. Tried every trick that I could think of, but nothing seems to help.
What I noticed, that sometimes when it restarts it does get very hot in the area near the camera. (not sure exactly what component it's there but it's something on the motherboard)
I'm thinking if it worth doing this motherboard change. (as it seems to be a design/component issue if there are so many that have this problem)

No, no reboot at all, but I noticed later that they rolled back to Android 8.0, so I’m thinking that they didn’t fix the motherboard, but they actually found a workaround by downgrading the OS.
I’m afraid to try to upgrade to Android 10.0 for this reason, I don’t even know if I can do it considering the new Huawei policy of flashing and stuff, but my girlfriend is ok with that so I let it go.
I can confirm that even now, on each task (TikTok scrolling for example), it gets very very hot in that point near the camera, my perfectly still working Honor 10 instead does it only on intensive use of the camera.
I hope this information can help you with your Honor 10, I suggest you go back to an older version of Android if possible just for troubleshooting.
If it persists, the motherboard is probably faulty and you need to replace it, I guess...
