countdown timer on today screen - MDA, XDA, 1010 General

hey guys....
does anyone know of a piece of software that allows you to have a digital countdown timer on your today screen?
the reason i ask is beacuse i am going to carling rock festival and i thought it would be call if i had a day, hour, min, sec timer until it starts... im sad like that
any ideas?
thanks
jay

Yea, take a look at T-Day Counter by Marc Zimmermann.
Do a search for it at: http://www.handango.com/
<snip>
T-Day Counter s a Today screen applet that will show you the time remaining until configurable dates. It will count down the days up to your chosen setting. As soon as you're within the 24 hour range, T- Day Counter will change to hour mode and later to minutes. Once the deadline has passed, T- Day Counter will start counting the elapsed time.
The Plus! edition supports multiple events (up to 5), different icons, colorized items, four different display formats, customizable event descriptions, online help and multiple languages (English, German, Italian, Dutch, Spanish and French).

THANKS q-man
that is exactly what i wanted
jay

Have you seen the plus version of t-day counter anywhere?
Regards,
Tom

There's a countdown timer plugin example in the SDK.

wm6 spb time

hello, anyone else have issues with alarms not sounding when setup through spb time ?
the alarm is actually triggered, appears on screen - just no sound !
this has happened several days in a row with diff alarm sounds.
last night i set a normal windows mobile alarm and setup a spb time alarm for 1/2 hour later. They both fired but still no sound from the spb time alarm.
If you know the way around this, can you please post the answer.

SBP Time is not compatible with WM6. They do not list it as being compatible (as they do with some of their products) - see SPB Time Product Page. I have had this issue in the past on WM6 on the Uni and now steer clear of SPB Time except on WM5.
Same here, no sound
ah ok, thanks for pointing out the wm6 compatability issue.
thought it was just me the first couple of days..somehow sleeping through the alarm. when u press the dismis button it does play the sound for a second or two though..crazy.
anyway, at least spb_time displays the time ok as its name suggests it should

Actually, you may find it doesn't display the correct time. I found it is sometime a minute or so behind (as sometimes is the clock on the taskbar in WM6)!!!
Anyone have a suggestion for an alarm clock program with will work??
the standard wm6 alarms work fine, whilst u can use spb to display time on the today plugins
Have you tried the "Wakeup Tweak" (on the options page)?
Works fine for me here.

Interesting. I had the same problem with or without the tweak. I'm currently trying out Chronos by ActiveSync which is working well, but they don't have the nice Today plug-in like SPB time...
works fine here, no probs, wakeup tweak enabled
have never missed any alarm.
indeed, time lags a few seconds

I had a weird thought... I know I enabled wakeup tweak but it still didn't work. Now I'm thinking probably should have done a reset in between, otherwise did the tweak really install... Will try again and report back.
How is that possible. Mine also has no sound, whether the wake up tweak is enabled or disabled. Do you use wm06?
Applied tweak, reset, still no sounds.
hope the following will help. this is what i have done in my htc x7500
1. in spb time options, wake up tweak enabled.
2. spb time screensaver disabled
3. wm6 settings, sounds and notifications, check events (warnings, system events), programs notifications (alarms, reminders)
4. wm6 alarms all three disabled.
5. in wm6 power options, uncheck power off device if not used for xxx minutes, for both battery and ac power
6. in wm6 backlight options, do what you like.
then soft reset ( i do it after i make any changes)
hope it works now for you
however
i will make a video to show you it works and upload it to youtube, will be tonight though, still at work
i fact will make a video with all the settings i use. the latest version of spbtime worked
from day 1 i installed it with the dopod wm6 rom.
now i use pk2, which is based on the same rom
just give me some time, will be around midnight, local time, athens , greece
please give me feedback if with the above settings, the spb alarm workrd

With regards to step 5, won't this have a negative impact on battery life???

so far, battery lasts 3 days this way. you are certainly right that with the power off checked the battery life will increase dramatically, but for the sake of the spb alarm, this is how it works for my x7500.
have the settings i use in my x7500 solved the spb alarm problem?

I already have battery issues. I tried everything but step 5, with no success. Apparently that is the key. I have gone back to Chronos, which isn't quite as nice but at least it works without a battery drain...
wgary, just to let you know that with the official htc rom wm6 (europe) and without any tweaks (apart from the spb tweak in its options), spb functions normally.
could it be an issue of dopod rom? do not know...
or maybe the use of other programs may interact with spb time?
just a thought... have you tried the wm6 fix sound? just in case? ( look for it in pk 2 thread)
this is really weird stuff man...

sorry for not uploading the video on time, had little time and probs with pc
will do so as soon as possible
Please try updating your version of SPB Time to the latest version. I did some forum spelunking and found that they had a new version that fixed this problem. My friend and I just tried it on our Tytns and it worked for both of us... even with the phone in standby!
Good luck.

[Q] ICS: How does the custom Vibration pattern in SMS work?

Hi guys today I found out that one can set a custom vibration pattern in the SMS Settings.
Clicking that option brings up a line with "0,1200" written on it. I tried to edit it to "0,1200,1,700" and also to "0,500,0,300,0700" but it did not change the pattern at all - in both cases it just staid a long single vibration.
So whats the trick, could somebody explain that to me?
Thanks
The pattern is:
Code:
"init,vibrate,sleep,vibrate,sleep......."
Set init to 0 to start immediately.
vibrate and sleep given in milliseconds.
ahh thanks. i noted that description above although the german translation was so bad i couldnt understand
So... you need an example?
Basically, the first number is always 0, the next one is a time to vibrate, then the next a time to not vibrate, then a time to vibrate again etc.
So to vibrate 2 times for half a second each, with half a second in between, you'd use something like this:
Code:
0, 500, 500, 500, 500
Think that's right, maybe that will translate to German better? (probably not, but it's worth a try)
thanks. i got that by now

Looking for alert/notification application

I always use alarm app which come in Android. But to set an alarm, we need to enter the date and time.
I'm looking for not that kind of application. I'm looking for a range time alert application. Let's say I'm cooking right now, I want to check it again in 5 minutes, I'll set alert for 5 minutes. If I'm doing laundry right now, let's say washing machine will finish after 15 minutes, I'll set the alert for 15 minutes. I'm browsing internet right now, my TV Show will start in 10 minutes, I'll set alert time in 10 minutes...
It's fast notification I'm looking for. Just set the how many 5 minutes/hours you want to be notify. Is there an app for that purpose? Thanks.
Try AlarmDroid its simple the best for me.

Good, but not as I expected to be. Still working same as default alarm/clock.
I want alarm for a fast situation such as " let me know after 5 minutes" etc. Then key in 5 minutes.
No need to recalculate time such as default method such as "now 7:47, let me know/Alarm after 45 minute...calculate...err...what time is it?...err...7:47-8:00=13 min, 45min-13min=32min... okay, key in Alarm at 8:32 at today date, let's see...12/012/2012..." Whalaa.... I hate this situation.
Just type Alarm Clock or Alarm in PlayStore and pick the best.

I did test a lot before posting into this thread. They all working in the same fashion way, the different only the interface.
At least if there is alarm that shows time range from current time by scrolling, that would be enough. Of course by key in is better.

Has someone updated ? impessions?
Yep, i have but not been in activities to proove improovements... ???
I have installed as well. No workouts yet. I have seen an extra menu item in run extra settings that is called virtual rabbit. I guess it is a ghost runner to keep you in pace. Interstellar watchface looks nice.
I can not understand what "real-time track in the real-time track page lock screen under outdoor sports" refers to.

I also noticed that and was wondering what the difference with pace alerts were. Both should notify you when you go outside a predefined pace, I guess.
Not done much since installing but the continuous heart rate appears to be more responsive when I move and thus my HR increases.
Previously I could go for a brisk walk and it wouldn't notice any change on the watch.
Fingers crossed its fixed.
On new watchface, there is a tiny heart on top. Does anybody get his/her heartrate shown on that watchface?
I do not think it shows heart rate. I have the eternal moment watchface which is showing HR data. Anyway I did not seem much changes, just the new watchface and the virtual rabbit. The update is mostly bug fixing which is a good thing. Still I am missing a cardio and yoga activity type.

I've just installed the update. Watchface looks nice.
But I don't know how to use Virtual rabbit and Real-time track.
Waiting for other's feedbacks.

Hi
I also saw a heart on top but there's no HR number. Is it simply a symbol?
To me prototype source will always be the best watch face but the new face is a nice addition.
Haven't noticed much new stuff, the UI seems more fluid but that just might be a placebo.
I hope the next update they make an effort to fix the pretty terrible step counting.
Tested it with a bit of cycling back from work. One thing I noticed is it no longer vibrates when auto-pause switches on and off.
As others said, HR seemed responsive and accurate (but that couldn't mean anything, since it was pretty much accurate when cycling previously as well). Will test it tomorrow morning with some trail running and, fingers crossed, I hope to see some good changes
Edit: Also, I noticed the bug with synchronizing rides to strava showing up as runs has been fixed.
Well, i don't know if it's a bug with the new firmware - but it does not sync the sleep datas anymore. I have the datas from last night on my phone but not synced with the Amazfi app....
I have also updated yesterday, continuous heartrate seems much more reliable now. Tested several times, finger on wrist and counting, real heartrate 58 watch stated 59, real 76 watch 76, 87/88 and so on, before update the watch sometimes measured a heartrate of 40 when it really was at 80 or 90 and it was always approx. 10-15 beats to low. Now it seems to be useable.
[email protected]: Sleep was tracked correctly last nigth but I had some cases (2 or 3 in half a year) when sleep was not recognized for no reason so it could be an issue not depending on this update. Sometimes sleep data were correct on watch but simply didn't show up in app, after several syncs sleep data suddenly appeared.
Edit: Steps are also more accurate now, watch starts counting now after 10 steps not 30 like before so short walks to the fridge are recognized now.

You now can see your location on the lock screen if you have chosen to follow an imported GPX track. Really cool now.

Tap to wake .............still problem, not solved
You type twice and not working??

Seem still bad and not usable. Little test :
- Garmin F3 : 543 steps
- Stratos : 275 steps
so Stratos count almost half steps. I think it have still 1/3 real steps because Garmin count only after 10 steps.
So daily steps count with stratos still totally wrong
"Time to stand up, you've been sitting for a while" alerts seem broken now. Granted, they still only occurred while sitting, but I think I went to the fridge to get a beer 3-4 minutes ago, and now it says I've been sitting for a long time Maybe now it does not count small movements like short strolls, only longer ones.

App req: Timer with progress notifications

Hello,
I am looking for a very basic timer actually, but still I haven't found one which can do what I need.
Please does anyone know of such an app already existing, or would anyone create it for me ?
Requirements:
- Countdown for a selectable number of minutes.
- Selectable pre timeout notifications
+ Number of notifications before timeout 2 or more
+ Selectable time before timeout for each one
+ Selectable sound or preferably vibration pattern for each pre warning
- The remaining time must always display the main duration, i.e never shift to interval between 2 warnings, like most interval timers do.
- Would like last minute to have warn every 10 seconds, and then every second for the last 10 seconds. This can be met by an option to have this, or there just being enough selectable pre warnings.
Optional design wish:
- A thick ring along the outer side of the screen representing the full countdown, but with different colours from start to first warning, and from each warning to the next or just markers for each event.
This old watch actually had my most of this:
Warn every 5 min
Warn every 10. Sec of last min
Warn every sec of last minute
