Hi,
Some times, you pass a place which GSM signal is lost. I would like to see my pocket pc notifies me when the GSM signal lost/came back. Is there any way in the pocket pc setting to do that? Do you know any software has this feature?
Thanks
Yeah very intresting idea i support his request too if its feasible...
Until now, no one is able to an answer it. :!:

Hi,
I have switched aa sim in my XDA, worked with it for a day and then hardreseted the device. Since then, the phone doesn't work! It seems there is no reception (an exclemation mark near the antana icon) and the SIM manager does not load as well.
I'm with WM2003 4.00.01, Radio 4.21.00.
Did anyone ever experianced something like that?

Stefan
My SIM card have no PIN number, and in any way where can I inout it?
The phone app just pops up empty, buty I can't make any calls - it seems it's only trying to dial (cought up in "Dailing...").
It's really kind of starnge - as if it does not recognize my SIM.

it is dtrange that several poeple has the same problem, makes you wonder that the fault is not in the hardware.
PLEASE HELP - anyone.
PLEASE....?
Hello All,
Thanks to everyone who makes this site such a terrific resource. Can anyone tell me what the icon on the attached jpg means? I can't find it in any manual and it appears regularly. :? The icon identified by the red arrow didn't appear on the ROM that came with the phone from TMobile, or at least I never saw it for the year prior to changing ROMs.
T-Mobile USA refuses to enhance their ROM with the wireless modem feature so I got a cooked ROM from http://lumpistefan.dyndns.org/ (excellent site btw) and now I'm using the wireless modem feature to my hearts content with a ROM from o2.
Many thanks!
Looks like a missed call icon to me.
Thanks, but I don't think that's it
I get the phone icon with the exclamation point whenever I miss a call. I thought at one time it might be a missed call icon, but it doesn't appear when I call my cell from another line and don't answer. I don't see any connection between this icon and any particular event. It seems to occur completely at random. :?
I think this icon means the radio has just been turned is off and it appears normally as the device starts up after a soft reset and only appears for a couple of seconds as the device loads the radio and finds a connection. I think it's supposed to indicate that you can't make a voice call at this moment.
do you have IACallerID installed? thats the icon that shows when it starts up i think
BINGO! Thanks dabtran!
I just spent the last two hours researching this and came across the Caller ID 1.0 for Pocket PC help file in the windows directory. The very first paragraph describes a not ready icon that will appear. I've played with the photo contacts a bit, but I found it a pain. Anyway, I went back to the photo contacts and added a photo to a contact and an icon like the one I posted showed up only without the 'x'. Then I knew where the icon was coming from. I was just logging on to post my findings when I saw your post. Thanks for confirming my suspicions. :-D
at times callerID get closed down and restarts when that happen that icon is displayed

hey even i get this icon quiet often................. was very curious bout it . but i found out wat it is. wenever ur network in goes off in the sense ur network strenght will show 100 % but it just cuts off for a few seconds and ive noticed if u click on it it just vanishes.so du nworry.its just the network problem. it wont affect ur calls since it lasts for a very small amoutn of time .
My XDA 1 phone has stopped working - no signal - can't phone - or internet or anything. It still connects to the emergency police number though - everything else works fine on the XDA. (It has ppc mobile 2002 on it.) Any ideas how to fix it?
Does this sometimes happen?
Is it the end of my device?
I have used the SIM card from my "non-working" xda1 in another phone and it works. I have used a SIM card from another phone which I know works, in my ."non-working" xda1 and it won't work .
I have set my xda1 to manual configeration, and it finds networks, it says available networks: KPN and Libertel, (I am in Holland). So I guess there must be a signal to and from my xda1. (Is that right?)
It doesn't give "telfort" as an available network. which is my simcard network. The xda1 says it is o2 uk all the time. Is it possible it still thinks I'm in the Uk and doesn't switch over to Dutch networks?
I'm in over my head with this...what should I do?.
I live in Holland - it worked fine. I took it to England - it worked fine - it switched over to the English phone networks etc. I bought it back to Holland and it stopped working!
I have just had a message on my xda1 saying: "unable to read settings from the net work."
The little mushroom icon at the top of screen never changes. There is no activity there.. . which I guess means there is no signal.
Does this mean the phone part of my xda1 is broken? If so, can it be mended?
a lot of questions I know!
Go to settings/phone and choose "network", when your required network shows choose it. It should do this automatically if "auto" is chosen.
I have the same Problem with my XDA1 and auto/manual configuration does not solve the problem. My SIM Card works with other mobil phones, too.
I upgraded the phone with the new o2 Radiostack, but still no change.
I tried the SpecialEdition Rom, bis the auto configuration did not work, so I got no signal, because I was not abel to set the phone to o2_de-loop.
Then, I upgraded the Windows to the new version available at o2. Sitll no change.
So, I'm going to disassamble the phone to check some soldering. I think this is some king of contactproblem, because sometimes - after serval resets - the XDA comes up with a working phone! But this only works until the next time I need to press the reset button.
You may have any ideas?
Greetings,
Timo
I'm not able to disassamble the Wallaby
The XDA must be closed with some kind of clip and I don't want to damage the hull of this beautyful and smooth device...
Greetings...
First, let me say that searching XDA-DEV with google is not an easy task.
Anyhow, I'm having this issue of phone calls being dropped after 2 to 5 minutes of talking. Signal is strong, bluetooth or no bluetooth. Uninstalled apps that recently got installed and the problem still persist. Is there a system log of phone calls, etc that can help me troubleshoot this issue ?
I have X7501 running original stuff.
Thanks

I would say it was almost certainly the fault of your network, a simple trick to test would be to go into the phone properties then into band and lock the band onto the old 2G signal instead of the fancy new 3G type and see what happens
PS do you really have an FM radio on your phone, does it use the Headphones as an aerial or does it just work !! is there any chance you can upload a screen shot of the radio app !
thanks in advance !
My Truesmart comes in on Wednesday and I'm thinking about grabbing a data sim and using this for calls, anyone know if it works?

is working fine
Hi, I installed Phonnix Lite because I#m very curious and still want to have a companion app.
Have to install Phonnix on both devices, Smartphone as host, TS as client. I actived it, for call and SMS forwarding.
Unfortunately, you get no direct message displayed on TS, but you get al logbook an there all call and SMS activities are logged. But you need a SIM card in both devices.
Also you get an E-Mail notification for incoming calls and SMS.
Not really a functioning compananion app, but for free ists a nice gimmick. The advantage is: no pairing and connection via bluetooth necessary and you get the notifications even when you forgot your smartphone at home or you are aout of bluetooth range.
Thx for the tip.
Maybe the pro version is a little more comfortable.
Hope this helps, you, guy.

You rock! Thanks so much.
I guess I just need to find a good way to get data in this thing to check for sure. I wish I could put it on my mobile share.

tested it for a while.... its extremly draining the battery. In thelite version for free its necessary to reconnect with your email data, longest time is 12 hours. not funny to type the data on the TS keyboard.
If you want to have a permanent connection, you have to buy the pro version
will think over it if there is no companion app or oui 2.1 with companion integrated in the next 2 weeks.
I also tried tablet talk but is not functining coz of bluetooth issue on the TS
EDIT:
I installed the pro version for about $ 2,50. Now I have a connection between smartphone and Truesmart. When there is an incoming call on the phone, the TS also is ringing. Nothing else happens, you cant accept or reject the call, but that is a big step to a companion app.
So I get my calls and SMS displayed in the Phonnix logbook, and the TS rings.
So I understand it right, there is no BT connection necessary. For the time the TS is connected with the internet, it will ring at an incoming call on the phone even when this is turned off.
There are some time restrictions for the phone as a host device, but now, logged to my gmail account on the TS as client is permanent.
Very, very nice & smooth....
I will test it for some days and if anybody is interested in my experiences, I will post.
Hi there! Great stuff!
I'm the developer of Phonnix and I'm very much interested on getting some feedback.
I didn't really tried in on smartwatches so I'm don't even know if it works or not but the idea is quite appealing
Did you try the latest version lately? Lots of improvements there!
Looking forward to hear your feedback!
Cheers,
Paulo
