using t-mobile MDA as modem on a mac - MDA, XDA, 1010 General

hi dear developers,
i am wondering how i could get my MDA to work as a modem on the OS X mac. i tried nearly everything, with no result. the only thing that leads at least to reaction on the pocket PC was:
- using wireless modem in IR mode
- using a IR adapter to get from my g4 Powerbook to the MDA
- using a "generic" GPRS modem driver from ross http://www.taniwha.org.uk/
- the red/green wireless modem pixels on the MDA blink but i get an error telliong me the modem does not work propperly.
i think its about the driver - is there anyone out there whos capable to hack a driver that tells "wireless modem" the right stuff to connect?
or is there a modem driver for os X that works with the solution provided by xda-developers (actualy i am a little afraid to modify my rom)
any feedback would be highly appricated - snull

GSM, GPRS Laptop SX56 Modem

I am new to this forum and think it is great!!
My question (after searching the forum) is how do I get my SX56 to act as a modem either in GSM mode or GPRS mode? I have a serial cable and I tried the steps for putting the SX56 in Bootloader mode but no luck.
I dialed using a laptop running Windows XP Professional and the screen changes on the SX56 but it still will not dial.
What I would like to do is using the serial cable or IR from my Windows XP laptop use the GPRS connection to the internet.
Can anyone help?
Thanks - Julian
If you can live not having the latest ROM edition, you could install ROM 3.17.03 and use the included 'wmodem.exe' application, which lets you use the device as a modem without needing to put it in bootloader mode (putting it in bootloader mode has a number of disadvantages, such as high battery drain and the disruption of the system clock).
Can I restore my old ROM image if I do not like the new one?

Yes. If the new one happens to be 4.00.10 or 4.00.16 you need to go via the 'bootloader mode' and using an SD-card, otherwise you can just use 'Programme A'. Either way: Get the XDAtools, and you'll be all set up.

HELP!! Wireless modem GONE after flash!

I just flashed the ROM to the 2.06 (or whatever) version of the Hermes that has PTT. But the Wireless Modem program is GONE! I don't know if they took it out, or just haven't implemented it yet. Everything else seems to be there; it's this sole program that's missing. How do I get it back??
Old "wireless modem" has been replaced by "Internet Sharing" on newer (AKU 3.3) roms.
How do I access this internet sharing? Does it have the same features?
It seems that I shouldn't have used SPB Backup...I guess there's no way around re-installing everything. Thanks for the heads up.

I am in the similar situation. How to use "Internet Sharing" to make the 8525 as a wireless modem for my notebook? Thanks.
Missing wireless mondem and no internet sharing
I am also missing the wireless modem icon under connections after upgrading my firmware, i also cannot find internet sharing.
I am still using WM5
Can anyone help?
Cingular's response to Internet Sharing
I just had a conversation with Cingular's tier 2 support on the Internet Sharing issue. He claims that you need to subscribe to their $59.99 internet package and not the $39.99 PDA package andsomehow magically things will work . . .
I am attempting to connect to an XP Pro acer laptop and the lapto does not recognize the handset as a modem when the internet sharing is 'connected' and I cannot find a driver that works.
The phone is new but I had to update it to the new Cingular ROM because it came with the old one that had the Wireless Modem app not the new Internet Sharing.
There has got to be a way around this . . . .!

Tnx, but I rebooted the 8525 and the XP Pro Laptop, then everything seemed to work. There was actually no setup required. Instead of working like my 8125 where there was a connect step, it sets up as a simple data connection automatically. The onlything i see is the phone connecting to GPRS when you hit connect! I hate cockpit trouble . . .

I have a question..
How can i connect my Startrek with my Motorola w385 Jefferson. This is to use my unlimited data plan that i have with motorola (Iusacell, Mexico).

Any comments or suggest?
Maybe changing the ROM. But i have other issue.. My USB connection are dead. The port are dead and i can not change the ROM.. Maybe flashing with microSD ?...

Thanks Man.. But i did not explain very well..
The thing that are dead is not my USB's Ports (In my laptop or PC), in fact it is my USB 12-Pin Connector (In my cellphone), at this moment i have a external battery charger for keep using this amazing device and i can not send to repair this because is too much money (It's more cheaper buy another phone)...
So, it is the reason that i asked after if with the MicroSD maybe change the ROM. Any suggest again?. I appreciate that.
Thanks.

What ROM are you using now? There are some official ROMs that have Bluetooth DUN that could be flashed from µSD. The original Cingular 3125, for example. I can't say whether it would connect properly to your device, though.
You have checked that your phone doesn't already have it, correct? In the 3125, it was located in the Accessories folder and called "Wireless Modem".
Startrek BT DUN.. and Flashing Micro SD card.

FOR EXPERT: ActiveSync/SD flashing don't work: Hardware Issue??

I bought a HTC Touch Dual (Niki100-20keys) on internet. My home, notebook, office PCs don't recognize it.
This is the original sw configuration:
bootloader: SPL-1.16.000 (CPLD-4)
ROM: 1.31.831.11 (date:11/01/07)
RADIO: 1.58.16.27
OS: windows mobile 6 professional
THE BATTERY RECHARGES WHEN CONNECTED VIA USB.
After searching this forum and talking via PM with some moderators, I flashed WWE official ROM, trying to solve the USB issue. I used the SD-way and it worked fine. Now I have:
bootloader: SPL-1.22.000 (CPLD-4)
ROM: 2.16.831.3 (date:28/11/08)
RADIO: 1.65.29.22
OS: windows mobile 6.1 professional
But the ActiveSync don't work and the SD flashing don't work anymore.
THE BATTERY STILL RECHARGES WHEN CONNECTED VIA USB.
I tried every procedure described in this forum (searched for 3 weeks and tested), but I can't see the phone from PC (also MTTY doesn't recognize it on any COM/Usb port).
It seem to be a Hardware Issue (also according to HTC On-line Technical Service).
Anyone can help me? Is there a test I can do to verify if really USB data transfer channel is broken?? Shoul I try to change USB miniport on the board??
Thanks in Advance
