pda camera as a codebar scanner - MDA, XDA, 1010 General

I've been said the XDAII (TSM500 in Spain) camera is also able to function as a barcode scanner with some specific software. Can Anybody tell me whether this is possible and which is the programmes I would need for this purpose??

Barcode scanner...

Is there some "lightweight" barcode scanner version that could be adapted to use with XDA/MDA? There are allready some web services like price-check, but other applications of XDA with barcode scanner would be interesting too. Another idea: could it be possible to get the built-in IR to scan barcodes?
Thanks.
Don't know for sure, but it would seem very unlikely: the IR led probably isn't focused enough, and the paper vs. printing ink characteristics at the IR wavelength used probably varies widely with differen paper, ink and printing technologies.
Maybe not impossible, but it would probably take a huge amount of processing power and have a very high fail rate compared to focused visible light solutions.
You could use one of these to gateway between barcodes and IRDA.

Infrared control over TVs etc. ?

I seem to remeber someone mentioning before that the IR port on the XDA II is to weak for this, but does anyone know if it's possible to control the TV/CD Player etc. with it?
Thanks,

noviiremote
The best sw for xda2 is noviiremote 2.1 (download trial version from novii.com).
Operative range is within 2 meters for almost all tv to remote;something more for sony cd player in my experience.
Noviiremote has a wonderful learning section to load your own original remote (if not already included in the list); otherwise you can try to find it (ie if your original remote is broken) in its forum.
Remember to check the box for receiving all incoming beams in setting/connection before launch the sw.

Titan + Redfly = Cool, except video help needed

Hey everyone,
I got a Redfly and it is pretty cool on most applications, even over bluetooth stuff runs good. The problem comes when I try to run Garmin XT or Tom Tom I get errors saying the program will not support the resolution, but Yahoo Maps works great. I guess I was surprised that the individual programs handle video res and not the OS. Anyone know how I can fix it ????
Cool, never heard of it until now.
The applications do detect the resolution so they can use the proper skin... The apps adjust and use the appropriate skin images for portrait and landscape.. also there are the square screen smart phones. On my dell Axim x50v I have trouble with some applications because they do not support VGA. So this is expected.
Did you search the knowledgebase on their site?
I would assume that the redfly would be capable of running in a magnified version of the native res for compatibility.. if not, you will have many applications that will have problems.
I got a chuckle out of this message on their site.
"Please read all the safety information in this guide before using the REDFLY to avoid injury."
There is no video capability. Program compatibility is hit or miss. No drivers for the Diamond yet.
Anyone know where in Garmin Mobile XT the video driver is ?
Maybe if I knew which file controlled that I could make it work ??

[Q] Question about the camera

this may need to be in development. I want to know how or why when hooked up via the tv out function and launch the camera I get a not supported feature?? is there another app that will allow that or a developer that can solve my issue. I want to set the phone down and see what the camera sees on my tv.. any solutions would be great.

[Q] Looking for a Price Scanner app

Hello everyone, Do you know any price scanner app for Galaxy Nexus? It should work like those PC softwares in grocery store scanners. However, instead of a separate scanner and a scanner software it will be on an app and then uses an android camera phone to scan and then records the scanned products per transaction then tabulate it in an excel file in a computer (possibly needs a bluetooth or USB to connect to a computer). It should also able to record new bar codes for new products. Is there any similar scanner available here?

Im looking for an app which functions like those scanners found in grocery store cashiers. It should function like that but the recorded scan should be saved on a laptop or pc not in an android phone. It should be somewhat a replacement to the scanners found in cashiers.
Are there any available apps like that?
Bump post.
