mabye i remember wrong, but i think there was a device called "presenter to go" that was built for that purpose.

XDA _rocks.. if only i had a xda 11..

Maybe not exactly what you are after, but you can replicate WinCE video on a win32 screen using VirtualCE. http://www.bitbanksoftware.com/VirtualCE.html

Exclusively for Xda II
bummer...

Backpack
it may be not really " exclusive" for the backpack. I am trying to get some more information on the product and learn Pin assignment, driver and dll relationship so I can retrofit it to the XDAs and get WiFi connectivity without an SDIO card.
This also entails the video output connection.

Margi presenter to go works with Ipaq and others but needs a cf or pcmcia slot, this then gives DV or VGA/XDA out according to cable set.

Could you keep me updated on what you learn on this?
Thusfar I have failed to find any solution for the XDA :\
Only SD extensions where for the palm, weird enough...

to ronin:
Hi. I am posting this from Portugal. This is my first visit to this forum. I use a similar Portuguese forum and I posted the following some time ago:
Is there any way of accessing a Wi-Fi with a Qtek 1010? (I don't know if you name it this way but it is a XDA).
The answers I got were disappointing because I was told that what I wanted was not possible, since Qtek does not support I/O cards.
So my question to you is: Do you think it will be possible to do what I want (i.e. access Wi-Fi with my Qtek)?
Thanks in advance

XDA as Lap top replacement ?

Does any body knows if the XDA can access like a usb harddisk ?
Because I'd like to use it as a file server for digital camera. Unfortunately
most digicams need special driver to transmit information via usb cable.
They simulate a hard drive. Does any body knows in wich way connection is possible ?
Thank you !
Julius
No
Julius,
XDA is an USB slave device so it can't 'access' a disk, ..., etc.
If you would have browsed this web you would have found:

It's not to flame you but you could save yourself some time by spending some time on searching this website

XDA Developers, or people that hve managed to take this site to a new frontier. I think that something is cropping up time and time again. Which can be looked at in one of two ways..
1. Peoples lack of effort to look around the forums to find what they want.
2. Lack of a search engine, in order for things to be easily found.
If opttion 2 could be solved, I think that this will please a lot fo people. It also stems well for the future. When this site gets a thousand posts a day..
Martin
http://xda-developers.com/phpBB/search.php
But I'll agree we need to put more effort in telling newbies where stuff is.
I guess both are ok...
being a newbie I like the search function but I started using it first at my third (or later?) visit. I guess newbies are (out of my own experience ):
- new to XDA lingo
- eager to ask something and act before thinking
Maybe a solution is to have:
- new users
- guests
- .... ???
... enter the search screen BEFORE they ever get to the 'new post' screen and kinda sorta force them to do something with search before they type in their question. It will at least let them look further than hitting that post/reply button that seems to be more present than the other screens.
I don't think the search screen has to be improved. It works very well according to my standards (if that counts)

Dear,
Follow my link to original developers of WM2003SE here http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=14373
HTH
Man, I am so insecure of which rom to use after all the zillion editions that surface each day, that I am afraid of using a buggy one. Better wait for a stable confirmed image, I guess.
Why not combine your own?
I use 2.06WWE (mysteryman) as found in the other posts, kept it as is, only exchanging the radio stack to 1.18 (picked up from 2.02)
I find it pretty stable, only has some trouble getting avantgo to work properly...
Problem of combining is that i don't have time to get that much into it, i'm afraid. My normal working hours are so hard that i hardly have time to sleep, so I'd like to get a working edition that is just plug'n'play as it's so nicely put by M$
Can you post your setupfile ?
If you dont have enough time, dont upgrade. Sounds like your to busy to worry about things like phones. Use 2 cups and some string instead. ROM upgrade your carrier pigeon, they are also more reliable.
I'd recommend you wait until a proper upgrade comes out from your phone provider.
The upgrades (especically SIN v3.5) do work well and don't take a whole load of time to install, but you can have problems.
I guess the questions should be, is there a Rom Kitchen
version of WM2003SE?
The Kitchens are the best way to cook up a custom rom with or without your desired ingredients.
Also, is there an XDA I version of WM2003SE?
I just upgraded and it work like dream! I also got the widcomm 1.4.x to work perfectly with my superduper version which was bundled with my norwegian BT dongle. No problem with that "license" message either. Anyone need that package, let me know and I can post it.
Also, syncing with Async using BT works superb too.
NB! My stringphone is already upgraded ;-)
widcomm issue
Hi!
How did ou get past the "license" message? Could you post it?

Er, people. When you say that Widcomm software is installed and working for you, can you also post what type of Bluetooth dongle/USB adapter you are using?
I think the license issue arises from the fact that Widcomm forced each BT dongle/USB adapter vendor to hardcode the device ID into a btsec.dll file issued with the Widcomm BT installation files.
If you have the software from someone, and you are using the same type of BT dongle/USB adapter as that guy, then you are in luck, coz the license is the same.
I had 2 dongles, one a generic CSR device and another Belkin one. Both comes with their version of Widcomm software, and the software wouldn't cross-interact with both devices because of the license issue.
What a DIM comm idea!

Bluetooth GPS - Which one?

Hi altogether,
I want to buy a bluetooth GPS Mouse to use with my Wizard.
Actually I ogle with the CMJ-1000.
Has someone experiences with this one or can recommend me another one?
Should be not that expensive.
I want to use it in the car, while biking and walking/hiking.
Thanks in advance.

Search just a little please... this is a thread just a few down from your new one... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=295300 I personally have given up on recommending accessories as someone will always have a new/better/different suggestion. Read the thread, you'll see some ideas. Let us know what you end up doing so others can benefit.

Sorry, but I read this thread before I posted this one ;-). First, the thread is quite old and did not contain the information I am looking for.
Perhaps I didn't specify my question good enough. "This device xy works fine for me" doesn't help me, because I don't know the needs of the user who is posting.
Perhaps someone who knows, could give some information, which Specs are needed/recommended/needless to different usages.

Well... just about any BT GPS receiver will work, so look for the form factor that suits your needs. Buy a receiver that has at least a SiRF III chip. Here is a site that has a bunch of receivers http://www.usglobalsat.com/ I use the BT359, I drive, I walk, I use it biking but not while I am riding (electronics, biking, death...all too related ) Someone else suggested the iBlue 737 as seen here http://www.gpspassion.com/fr/articles.asp?id=175&page=5
Something you'll have to decide is whether you want data logging. That is useful if you are using the receiver without a live BT-phone connection.
Mostly you need to think about what mode you are going to use it in most frequently. For me, its the car (where I have power so I can overclock the phone), but I do use it elsewhere but it just "depends".

PS you could have added to the old thread and it would have "become new again".
just thought I'd give an update
BT-359 with TomTom 7 works absolutely perfect on WM 6.1 ROM

irDA on the Hermes -

Forgive me if this subject has been covered, I've not been able to find much on this and I'm fairly new to all this having just aquired a Hermes recently.
One of the things I did hope to do with this (amongst many other things of course) is to use this device as a remote control. I have a number of devices that would become unusable if their remotes were to die and so creating a dbase of all those obscure remotes has been worthwhile using my ipaq to date.
Currently I've tested a couple of pieces of software which work but it appears that the infra red signal is pretty weak, particularly when comparing it to my iPaq 2210 running Nevo. It's far too weak to really be of that much use.
Anyway before I give up on this path I thought I'd try to find out if anyone else has found this to be as weak as I have and more to the point, would a radio or ROM upgrade help or is this down to the hardware that HTC used for the irDA?
It is in general that most PDA's have a 'weak' IrDA submitter. HP is really an exception. I also missed this powerful Irda when I switched one day ... !
A ROM upgrade won't change this.
You might be better off by buying a UNIVERSAL REMOTE CONTROL for your devices. Even your HERMES might be happy and last a bit longer.

Ok thanks for the information. I was kind of expecting this to be the case. I might have to hang on to the HP, it works a treat. It's a shame though.
I'll concentrate on finding out about the rest of the stuff I need to resolve like the gps problems as Tomtom is one of the priorities.

Tv output?

Does anybody know if a mini usb to tv out cable will work on g1? I don't know much about these cables and would like to know if the cable will work by just simply plugging it in. Or if additional software would be required.
Any info would be a great help as I hope to use 1 of these cables for a tv streaming app.

Sorry, about duplicated Thread about the G1 TV out that was already post before, but this website below fuel my curiosity and probably was misleading about the ability to broadcast video. Thought maybe HTC created a cable that enable many HTC device that don't have the TV-out to a capable function and I know it more in the hardware, but the software/drivers support too. It also seem it more supported in a Winmo OS device then Andriod OS.

To make it clear once more, there's no TVout on G1 (a.k.a HTC Dream).
The physical connection to the signals of the chipset is missing and additionally there's not software to support this part of hardware.
HTC devices with TVout feature, deliver the dedicated signals on some of the pins at the extUSB connector.
The adaptor you pointed at, is a simple cable with some passive elements inside (e.g. filter) to attach to extUSB connector and match it to the input of the TV set.
Best regards,
scholbert
