Do a soft reboot by inserting the tip of the stylus into the left hole (which is larger than the hard reset button that has the battery symbol next to it) located on the bottom of the XDA. Cheers!

You have to press the two softkey buttons at the same time, which are just above the "windows" and "OK" button in the front pad, and at the same time reset with stylus. Repeat the process and let us know

Recently I am having problems with my phone, and am wondering if it is a software or hardware problem.
I have tried loading the TNT4 rom & WS5SE roms (this is a g4), and there is no change (im on the Tnt4 one now).
The touchscreen works okay, but the soft key buttons do not. The right bottom one is okay, the left one triggers the right one, the send button show the letters "uytga" on the phone screen when i press them, the end button shows "mn" or something, the camera button works perfect, the comm manager button is the same as the voice button (even when i map it with a program it says "button 4").
It even happens on the soft keys on the keyboard when i slide it out.
Also I used Start-sSPL to put the roms on. Is there a way I can get the OEM one back on or fix the button problem?
Any help will be appreciated.
plz reply me asap
What is "HTC ST 21A"?
Edit:
OK. I found that is Hurricane device. My SPV C550 has ST21A writen to...
I think this is the internal model name from HTC. You should find it on the various stickers glued in the battery compartment. I have replaced housing (no stickers) - so cannot tell right away. If I remember right that code is written on the one in the miniSD slot. Not sure if ST21A is Hurricane.
Hardreset is identical for all anyway:
- press L+R softkey (and keep pressed)
- switch on the device
- keep pressing the L+R keys
- wait until message appears "do you want to..."
- release L+R softkeys
- press green button to confirm

seems like Qtek 8080
Hi
I have a problem with my XP; suddenly my softkeys have become a lot less responsive. It's the menu key in particular; the back key is the most responsive (a slight tap will do), the home key is ok but you need to press a bit harder and with the whole thumb and not just the fingertip) while I have to repeatedly hit the menu key for it to work. I did go for a run with my phone in my hand, after which I wiped the phone with a damp tissue, so I don't know if that was the perspiration or the water or whatever that affected the softkeys. I am aware that I can get softkeys through rooting but if I can't solve this I want to send it back to the shop so I don't want to root just yet.
Its always good if u just slide ur finger a bit instead of just touching them on soft keys.....

Thanks for your reply but that doesn't work for me for the Menu key. It's even worse than before now
PS if it's any significance the menu key doesn't light up as brightly as the others.
I have a nasty problem. driving me NUTS and now I figured it out (but not a solution)
I would be typing away on my note II and BAM bunch of too fast to see menu's and I am somewhere else or something else happens. SO annoying.
I FINALLY figured out WHY its happening
the edges of my palms (thumb joint on my hand) are "PRESSING" into the corner of the screen when I type randomly
so my left hand would touch the "menu" capacitive button (this is why I love hard buttons) and I tap the keys so fast that the menu appears and before I even notice it I had tapped the screen 2 or 3 more times taping random menu options etc..
or worse my right hand touch the back button and POOF on a different screen OR the keyboard goes away and I tap a "link" that was under where the keyboard was etc..
SO anyway to fix this? app hack mod to keep this from happening?
maybe make it so I have to multi tap those keys (IF the keyboard is on screen) within a certain time span for it to register?
so 2 or 3 rapid "taps" otherwise it ignores those 2 buttons being pressed (but only when the keyboard is open) ??
thanks!
