transferring file - MDA, XDA, 1010 General

I want to connect to my desktop PC and transfer files to and from the XDA with USB and without using activesync. Is it possible?

I think it cannot work without activesync and usb.
You need an intranet connection to your device to put files on it.
The best way for you is to buy a cardreader and a memory card.

is there any method to put the xda in a intranet without any optional accessories?

[Q] acess usb port

Can i hook usb external hd to the vibrant port & access file in that hd. I tried but not working. Does any one know any app or device can be hooked to it to access hd file plz let me know. I just moved from rim to android.
Have you tried downloading the samsung drivers?
I do not think you can do this, the phone would have to support usb host mode, and I do not think it does ..
Why not just take your sd card out, put it in a PC, and copy files to it from a PC?
Or just mount your phone on the PC and copy files?
hook up your HD to computer, share it on network, start AllShare app pn phone..

Set up "adhoc" wifi to access SD Card

Here's how you can access your memory card via wifi even when your phone isn't connected to any routers. It is some form of "adhoc" connection.
On your phone, install "File Expert" from market this allows you to access your files via HTTP or FTP
On your PC, you can use Filezilla or any FTP transfer prog. HTTP is also fine.
Turn on wifi tethering on your phone and connect your laptop to it.
Open File Expert and use either FTP or HTTP and follow the config instructions tadah!
This came about when I needed to access my memory card while I was out without a usb cable and bluetooth transferring a large file took waaaay too long
If your phone supports FTP transfer you can also transfer between phones using this method.
Enjoy!
Awesome!!! Thanx!

Files Transfer

I've taken pictures with the S3 and it's stored in internal memory, how do I transfer the pictures to my computer without using Samsung Kies?
Connect using usb. You should be able to access both sd cards from my computer.
Card for external, Phone for internal.

ACtually you don't need KIES at all, and in my opinion, you shouldn`t even have it installed.
In order for xcly's suggestion to work (which is the proper method, btw), you need to have the drivers for the phone installed.
There are 2 ways to get that:
1) Uninstall KIES. It will ask you if you want to leave the drivers installed. Do so.
2) If completely uninstallaed KIES & drivers or never installed them, you can install the drivers only package from here:
http://developer.samsung.com/android/tools-sdks/Samsung-Andorid-USB-Driver-for-Windows
With these drivers you'll be able to connect the phone to the computer using the USB cable and use Windows Explorer to copy files to/from the phone easily.
Another much slower choice is to use Bluetooth.

[q] mtp not detecting

There is a strange problem since I bought my gs3.. It never recognized MTP. whenever i connect phone to pc via the usb provided with the box, it only displays charging but not any usb detection, even my pc won't connect any device, as if nothing is connected. My pc recognize it in download mode. But as soon as the rom boots up the usb connection no longer exist and hence no selection menu in notification bar comes. Currently running paranoid android 3.10
I want to transfer big files to my sd card but can't and every time i have to eject sd card connect to another phone and then transfer files.
Please help.
Use airdroid, No need for a usb connection

Using a external usb hdd?

Hello dear people.
I have a M8S II and I've hooked up an external usb hdd to it. Since we cannot root it yet, I have few questions.
Is there any chance to use samba on it without root? My goal would be to transfer all movies to hdd, but to be able to copy it as well when I download something new.
At this point, I cannot write to it? Any reason besides android limitations? Tried connecting with es file explorer to my pc and to copy it to the external hdd, but I cannot write to it.
Thank you all in advance for your help.
Best regards,
