Just had o2 XDAii unlocked and have lost all my o2 goodies - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 ROM Development

Sorry for probably being a typical newbie but I have just had my o2 XDAii unlocked which works great but I have lost all of my o2 goodies like camera/mms/sms/wap/profiles etc. Can anyone point me in the right direction with regards to restoring these. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks. :?

Unlocking shouldnt do that, if you remove the battery it should put it back to factory settings.

Thanks for the reply. It was unlocked for me by a friend (mobile shop owner) not using software from here. I have tried the battery but still no joy. Any ideas how I can get all my o2 features back? Cheers

ok, have you tried pushing the stylus in the reset hole at the base of the xda2 while holding down the power switch, this is a hard reset so you will lose all your data unless you backup first.

You am de man!!!!!
I have had an Ipaq for 2 years and never thought of doing a hard reset......Doh!
Cheers mate and thanks for the quick responses.
I am once again a happy xdaii user.
Ps. What are the best upgrades to perform on this machine cause I am just getting my head around all this firmware/radio version stuff :?:

Personally I am waiting for the O2 official upgrade. I dont wish to knacker my new machine just yet.

re unlocked xda2
if your phone has gone back to factory standard... as in ... useless... goto storage and find the file backup. its hidden somewhere.... double click that and the xda2 ought to return to normal with all functionality.
chris

lost all my functionality after hard reset
I did a hard reset on my xda 2 and have lost the camera, mms and most of the great things on the xda2. I tried to find that backup file but with no luck.
Please can someone help me get this thing functioning properly.
Thanks

Soft Reset from Bootloader/WM2003 and it Hard Reset my Qtek

Hello All,
Something freaky just happend. I was reading a thread about how someone was unable to access his Bootloader after a WM 2003 install and decided to go into Bootloader mode. No problems there, so I did a soft reset to get out of Bootloader mode and Boom! 'Tap here to set up your device' displayed amid the 'Bliss' background.
I had to setup the device from scratch. Luckily not all that much loss of software and I only lost one appointment which I still remember. Can you guys with WM 2003 try it and let me know your results? Please backup your data first!
Thanks
Yep same thing here! i tried it fater upgrading and its just like i did a hard reset...
:?
Same here!
BTW I'm using a US T-Mobile PPCPE.

XDA GSM error after upgrading to WM2003

Hi all,
i've got a slight problem with my XDA. After updating to WM 2003 (4.00.16) my GSM (3.23) seens to be broken...
It woked for a while and then out of nowhere. My XDA now wont boot. Th good news is that i can go into the bootloader.
What can i do now? Where can i get a good WM2002 image to put onto my SD Card? I'd appreciate any help!!!
Dear Fabi,
I know it might not be the suitable question, but could you plz tell the exact steps you did that led you to this situation. This is to allow you to get precise help, and to be a learned lesson for the rest of us, coz I was about to upgrade from 3.25 to 4.00.16 but prefered to ask first.
Don't worry, the guys here are way clever and I 'm sure you will get the help very soon ... TKR
Nooo problem. I was about to Sync my XDA via USB Cradle and noticed that my backlight was turned off. Also my Phone was searching for a Network (now I know why... ). So I thought it might be good to reset that thing..... *aghhhrrrr* That was a big mistake. After the reset I saw the boot screen and the backlight blinking twice. That was all. My Bootloader (5.15) says "GSM Error"... now I'm without Mobile Phone for a while :?
so in other words, 4.00.16 was OK but you screwed up the XDA by just doing a reset while the backlight was off ?? ... I 'm afraid I don't get it :?

Confirming you used the SD card method to upgrade, right!
Also what radio band is or was your XDA set to before the upgrade?
HTH
No I didn't use SD Card to update my XDA. I used The ROM-Kitchen to generate a exe and updated over USB cradle.
Im running my MDA (i don't have a XDA ) on a german GSM 1800. Eplus. It was always set to this option and I never even tried to change it.
@biso007:
I screwed my MDA because I did a reset. Thats right. But I had some backlight issues in the past few days after upgrading. The backlight sometimes turned off and there was no chance to get it back on... only a reset. I first thought the proplem occured again yesterday but then i saw that my MDA was looking for network. After resetting the GSM part was dead....!
So back to my problem. I now ordered a SD Card Reader/writer. Is it possible to resore my system via XDArit and a backup? Can someone provide me a working 2002 backup from boot, OS and GSM part? Or can I do this by myself. I really appreciate your help!! Thanks a lot.
Ok I see!
Do this then press the green phone button, tools, Options, Band
and post whats listed.
and yes its possible to restore your system via XDArit and a backup.
As far a the 2002 PPCPE ROM goes you should be able to download it from T-Mobile, so visit their web site and search their MDA upgrade/download section.

My MDA does not boot anymore! I can't get into windows and i can't sync anymore! I have the Radiostack and the 2002 image fram the T-Mobile Website but the image ist a NK.nbf. AFAIK XDArit needs *.nb1 Files? I also noticed that it seems not possible to write the GSM Part to the phone via XDArit.
Hiya Folks
I wonder if you could helpme with a bit of a problem, i have recently attempted to upgrade my XDA using the reccommended downloads from O2, this upgraded my ROM and the GSM part of the XDA. however when trying to get into my XDA it freezes, i can get into the bootloader but get a GSM error, am i able to flash the GSM, if so where can i get the flash and how would i carry this out. i have got into the GSM part of the bootloader and the GSM will not turn on. i have tried copying the GSM from a friends XDA only to find the message "please connect to RS232 and run PC monitor now"
Hope you can help
Cheers guys, you are truly more useful than the folks who we obviously look up to at O2!!!! Mind you this does not say much!!
Thanks again
Dave

O2 Asia ROM Release

O2 now have release an official update for all the Asia O2 user, you can download from O2 official website now. 1.60WWE and Java.
Do you have the exact URL. O2's site is NOT the most user friendly site to search for stuff. Thanks
You must go to the www.myxda.com then login then you can download the update. before that you must registed with O2 on the website then only you can login. I have update and work perfectly. Radio version 1.08 and the extended ROM 1.06.
Sorry man for sounding so thick, I did login, but for the life of me, I still could not locate where the file is. Perhaps I'm just blind
Thanks
Sorry got it. It's after you login, there's an arrow to the right of the screen. Click that and presto it's there. Gosh, I swear I didn't see that earlier.
can some one post the file here pleaseeee.... , i got my xda in hong kong i can't download the english version for O2 ASIA.
thanks in advance
Thanks very much Terence
I am a registered user but O2 didn't send me any notification to upgrade the ROM. May be they are worried about the internet traffic.
Anyway, thanks!!!
Cheers
nevermind, i got the file already thanks for the info anyway
I got the english upgrade, where can I upload it?
Moreover, anyone got the chinese version?
This is a real disappointment as some of us are already using the 1.60 (ExtROM 1.60.23) with Radio Version 1.80 and we're still facing the GSM problems like network dead with no notification ... etc. And this official release of ExtROM 1.60.44 seems to have the same Radio version, I guess the GSM problems are still not completely solved yet. And of course, no mentioning of bluetooth OBEX profile or handsfree profiel ?
Dear all,
Does anyone know how to backup the SMS database and restore after a hard reset? Thanks.
You can use Sprite Bakcup to backup SMS messages.
here it is .
Mates, this upgrade brought me close to a heart attack... started it and everything ran fine for 5 minutes... then it just stopped, informed me that the process died and asked me to perform a soft reset... since that didn't work anymore (obviously the delete of the current ROM already did something)... I stood there wondering... even a hard reset didn't do any good and just showed me some text on the screen...
After probably 12 cigarettes in 5 minutes, a restart of the PC and another hard reset at the XDAII which also left me with just the text message I tried it again... running now for about 30 minutes and being half through step 2 "Upgrading ROM image"... keep my fingers crossed...
Chris,
Reading the previous post and the revision history on the sprite website does not give me the confidence. Most report that after a restore the SMS is rendered incapable of receiving message. I have one chance to backup before hard reset upon upgrading the firmware. So I can't just take that risk. Thanks.
Regards,
Kueh.
Mine took about 60 minutes to install.
Everything seems fine, apart from the MMS composer will not load up, perhaps because I copied my old 'My Documents' folder back to the newly imaged Xda II.

Dave
If you have upgraded the O2 Asian ROM, can you please post its ExtROM version?
My friend has upgraded it but he said his ExtROM is still 1.60.23 and not 1.60.44 as claimed.
I am having 1.60.23 as well, that's why I am holding my horse as I see no difference or improvement from my current ROM.

new xda2 rom update from o2

please help, ive upgraded the rom from the o2 website and it has lost all the O2 software on the phone (which may not be a bad thing) but it has lost all the pre installed connection settings for the internet.
any ideas how to solve this or reset it back to its original rom settings
cheers guys
dazza
A hard reset should restore the settings, I dont understand why the settings are missing, did it go through the auto configuration routine where you choose your country and gsm/gprs prepay etc.?
Hi Dazza,
Mine did the same. I just have "USB v1.01" on the screen whilst it's in its USB cradle. If I take it out it displays "Serial v1.01". Pushing the Hard Reset buttons, and even removing the Battery just results in the same display.
Have you resolved it yet please?
Desperately yours,
Andy
It's mean you have fail to upgrade your Xda II ROM. Anda the ROM have been formated. You can put the Xda in the cradle, and run the original ROm 1.60.44. Good luck!

Unlocking and moving from ATT to Cingular with my SX56

Here's whats happening as I'm trying to get my ATT SX56 to work with Cingular so you can learn from my mistakes...
First thing, backed the whole thing up to my SD. (I'm not a dumb as I look. I can't be...)
Next step was running XDAunlock. That didn't work.
Next, I installed SE ROM 1.2 to unlock and that went fine. (I also installed a number of other ROMS while I was experimenting.)
Then I decided to install WM2003 to move on. I put in my Cingular sim but I can't get the phone to work.
Thinking I must have lost a setting or something, I tried to reimage from the SD but WM2003 will not recognize my backup file to restore from. (It's no big deal since I have all my data synced but I had some nice little games I don't want to loose. Any ideas on recovering this?)
I'm thinking that playing musical might have messed with the radio stack somehow so I decide to try the RSU Version 6.24.20 upgrade. I moved the files to /windows but fired off the utility before I moved it. I paniced and turned the machine off but now it doesn't do anything but show the initial screen and the ROM version.
I'm planning on trying the "Recover from GSM Error" process to fix it. Will that work or am I screwed?
Big thanks to you all for getting me this far! This is a great platform and I'm glad to see so much interest!
IT'S ALIVE!!!!
It works! I finally got my SX 56 over to Cingular. Running the RSU 6.24 did the trick.
Thanks to all who have helped and thanks to all the other newbies who posted all my questions before I had to!
