Orange has no plans for updating M1000 ! - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 ROM Development

I have asked the Danish Orange support line about future ROM updates.
The reply was clear and simple:
"We have no plans for any future updates to the SPV M1000 in the future, sorry"
Guess I have to go to a Dangaard or other ROM if I need an update to my version 1.52.
That being said, right now, after removing a number of items from the startup folder, I have few problems.

Michael

Hi michael,
It is possible to download a 1.66 version from Oranges homepage and install it on your SPV m1000, I did so yesterday.
At the bottom of this page is a link to the upgrade:
http://orange.dk/privat/telefoner/orange/spvm1000/

Michael

why not just use 2003se? i am with orange and everything works

Hi,
I would very much like to, but just started looking at the possibility, but haven't found out how to do it yet. I have downloade the appropriate files (i think), but I keep getting the wrong language code error. I suspect that I have to change the language code in the rom file, but have to find out how - do you know how to get the new image into a danish SPV m1000?

no idea really. i just double clicked on a file and it worked
is the english version no good to you?

ok
The english version is just fine for me, but this is also the version that I can't install. My current software is also english, but in order to be able to upgrade the sofware, the new software has to be properly signed (i.e., the language code has to fit my Danish Orange SPV m1000). I haven't found out how to circumvent this, but am looking in this forum for the solution, as I'm quite sure that it is here somewhere.

Orange software Version 2003SE
Hi Cookci
Where did you download it from of can you make it available?
Do you know if this version will work with 2 Bluetooh headset profile devices?
See my post

Hi where is the file that you clicked on available?

Well... that may be their official response
I have also been talking a bit to Orange in Denmark on some other topics, and ended up taling to one of the ppl. customer service never sends a call to.
We talked a bit about the 2003SE upgrade for Himalaya, and I told him that I had the ROM image for it.
He was extremely interested in this, and I have sent him a copy of it, with a very basic extended rom (only "official" software in it) for him to customize, he knew exactely what to do to make it "Orange" and had the proper tools for it (according to him)
Maybe I should give him a Buzz again and ask how far he is in getting a proper Orange Denmark image completed, or if he can leak any modifications needed to set up stuff like GPRS for the Orange DK network.
In the meantime, let me know if you want the base image i sent to him.

I've got a SPV M1000 with an Dutch Orange subscription. And the dutch helpdesk also sais it won't deliver an update; well, I needed to check orange.com for an update. It it's placed there, it will eventually arrive in holland (in how many years?)
I've upgraded my dutch SPV with the SIN image (after copying the original Ext_ROM); i got a language code error, but after a second try i didn't receive that error.
I used the SIN merged image for a couple of days but I notices some lag, it was a bit slower than usual. Then I unlocked the ext_rom again and copied the original ext_rom back, and gave it a hard reset. It worked like a charm after some 'OK'-pressing on the message that the application was designed for another OS version. But I got some old tools, old Caller ID, old camera application etc. Than I downloaded the complete set of the tools/application SIN merged into his image and took a couple of interesting tools and applications and put it back in my own Ext_Rom
My config.txt

The last three are the GPRS APN, MMS and network name patches for Orange. (In holland the phone will say Dutchtone instead of Orange).
You'll need OrangeNL_166171.CAB (1.7MB) to install the Orange tools (backup, homepage etc), but that one I haven't included due the lack of storage (ext_rom may not be larger than 16MB, and my rom takes 14.4MB)
So I haven't got the complete merged (best of both worlds) OS; but it works like a charm and Im loving it

Upload SE - Orange - Holland?
Kript.. any change you can upload that as an execute?
Having some operator problems of here..
Thanx!

Hoi,

The extROM has czech customisations in the ExtRom. Beware of that.

Yes,it is true.. Our Czech T-mobile released new official ROM with czech customization, ROM: 1.72.00 ExtROM: 1.72.176 and Radio: 1.17.00.

And the ROM 1.72.777 is cooking from this Czech T-mobile official ROM update..
I also noticed that the versions history of this ExtRom is not completely clear.
It has numerous files that have the same name as the QTek 1.72.601 rom, but the contents is completely different.
Would be handy if the creator of this ExtRom supplied some extra info.
@xp: Could you upload (or supply a link) the 1.72.776 official T-Mobile CZ ExtRom, or maybe the whole upgrade?
They are cooked ROM
Hi, these ROMs are "nonofficial" (meaning not released by T-M) "official" updates (meaning - our Czech cellphone service providers are not releasing official updates, so somebody have to do it in behalf of them)...
URL http://mda.epot.cz is MDA2 Wiki page in Czech, that I'm editor (and cook/provider of these updates)... The page you posted is the list of released updates by companies (with download links) or by service company flashed to devices...
As I said, these ROMs are cooked using OS ROM from QTek 1.72.601, Radio ROM 1.17 is from this forum and ExtROM is cooked on basis of last update flashed by service company for T-M (1.72.176). This ROMs are destined for Czech users of T-M MDA2 or Eurotel CZ DataPhone II (originaly QTek 2020, only branded), so there is a TMDCustomize.CAB which makes customizations for T-M CZ and installs Language Extender (localization SW) in Czech language and with czech keyboard (same for Eurotel with ETCustomize.CAB)...
And ad to names of cabs in ExtROM, you can name it as you want, right?
BTW It's working! I have it in my DataPhone II...
Official T-Mo 1.72.176 ROM?
Great! Thank for the info bro..
So, it means that there's official T-Mo (CZ) 1.72.176 ROM out there? If there is can you guys give us direct link for download, or can you guys upload it here...
Thanks!
No, this update (1.72.176) is flashed only by service provider directly to your device and you have to pay for it...
We try to boycot this approach to all Czech Himalaya users...
Really? That kind of greedy huh! SE maybe worth to pay for.

Beecher,
Thanks for the info.
I just found some curious things.
As I am cooking / distributing my owm ext roms too, I would very much like all details of any rom to be able to make a good judgement.
The filename i mentioned is the same as is used in other (earlier) releases. It is a good habit to only leave the name the same IF the contents is the same. (part of being able to do releasemanagement).
That all. But now I know thats enough for me.
Great site btw!!!
Pity I dont read czech though. . . .
Isnt just releasing that 1.72.776 release on the net the best boycot????

Why? We paid our repair service in price of the device...
There is something strange if look around, O2, QTek, i-mate, T-Mobile (not Czech one) are releasing their own updates for free on Internet, but our cellphone service providers not (OK, at the worst case I will go to repair service comapny to flash new version of ROMs)...
OTH I think there won't be a lot of differences between flashing FE (First Edition) and SE, so we can cook our own ExtROMs on basis of current updates and using our knowledge to fit all our needs...
My assumption is main "dramatic" change will be in nk.nbf file (OS ROM), maybe Radio ROM, ExtROM will stay as is but with just only new versions of all included software (prepared for SE and Landscape mode)...
So I think we can use all techniques we know, if somebody one day posts to xda-dev forums message: "It's here!"

Yeah, I think I see the point... But I'm taking names how they come to me... Regardless of it, when I'm releasing new update I'm changing the version (first was 1.72.666, now it's 1.72.777) and you have to keep on mind, my "sandbox" is smaller then yours, if you are releasing something more universal...

seems they have not used the extra time to create a better ExtROM . . .

The upgrade from 1.60 ROm should be step forward, you're right. (if your original was T-Mo Operator NL)
Blackberry stuff is not included on Official 1.72.190 (T-Mo)
Hope this help...
Battery Life Issues After Upgrade
Prior to 1.72 ROM (was using 1.60) my battery life bar on the Today screen would read between 5:50 and 6:08 after a FULL charge.
After 1.72 ROM upgrade my battery life has shown between 3:57 and 4:50 at most after a FULL charge.
I thought battery life was supposed to be improved. Can anyone offer insight?
Thanks.

best Tytn rom?

hi al
i read the new tytn rom thread, including all aditional CID stuff.
question is- what's the best rom for a tytn?
i got my tytn today, and i see there are alot of english roms. which is the most stable one? which should i flash on my device?
thanks!
Simon
Your best bet might be to wait for the new official TyTN ROM. Now that the Cingular 8525 has shipped, it's my hope that HTC will rededicate its resources to supporting its own flagship product (but where have we heard that one before...).
If you're in a hurry, see my signature for a combination that's working very well...
i'm confused now...
there's a big thread here titled "new HTC TyTn rom" isnt that an official htc rom?

There's nothing really "new" about it. It seems to have all the same bugs and problems as the old one.
Personally, I am using the Cingular 1.34 rom on my TyTN, with a customized Extended Rom, which is mostly made of up the original TyTN extended rom, and a bunch of patches and tweaks from Cingular and Dopod ext roms.

Just curious, why did you go with the Cingular ROM? Also, what did you use from the Dopod Ext. ROM?
I'm using the TyTN as delivered, with a couple of Cingular Ext ROM bits... Working very well so far.
Which cabs are you using from the Cingular ExtROM?

I personally installed:
CAB: \Extended_ROM\MT_PC_Hermes_GenericLight_REG_060609.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\MT_Shortcut-MMS-Hermes.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\C_HSDPA_Wirelss_Modem_Stall.cab
CAB: \Extended_ROM\T_mm1lib_DLL.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\PP_PIE_Default.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\SMS_Setting_07Jun06.CAB
However, the only thing I really noticed was the Wireless Modem one. It obviously installs a somewhat useful program. The others, I'm not so sure. I still had to manually enter data network and MMS settings.
I did try the remaining CABs initially. They're worthless, just shortcuts to get XpressMail, GoodLink and TeleNav. All of which can be had from web pages directly. No need to install shortcuts.

Cirgular rom seems to have fixed the following for me:
1) Camera doesn't crash or take black/blank pictures at random times
2) TCPMP player actually works, or at least the audio part of it does (on original TyTN rom audio skips like crazy)
3) WiFi connection seems to be much more stable (I had an issue at one point where WiFi would attempt to connect, and the WAP point would immediately dissapear. WAP worked fine on other devices.)
This is what is in my Extended ROM (P.S. I had to use fit4cat to unhide and unlock my extended rom, then copy all these files in, along with a modded config.txt file, and hard-reset)
From HTC TyTN 1.18.255.106 ExtROM WWE
CAB: \Extended_ROM\PP_ExtVersion.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\P_Generic_UI.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\PP_3-AP-Patch.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\MT_PC_Hermes_Qtek_WWE_060621.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\VT_Engine_23818_ext.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\PP_ace-certs.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\MP_mHub_060630.CAB
(I don't use MMS so removed that cab)
From Dopod 838 Pro ROM 1.30.707.4 ExtROM
CAB: \Extended_ROM\P_wifi_fix.CAB
And from Cingular 8525 1.34.502.1 ExtROM WWE
CAB: \Extended_ROM\C_HSDPA_Wirelss_Modem_Stall.cab
Oh yeah, also, before flashing, I installed the SIM & CID unlocker to make my device SuperCID, and afterwards installed the TyTN original skin (found in Wiki under Hermes Dialers), and the PTT button patch that lets me use it again. Here in US I can't use the front camera for anything phone-related, so I'm not worried abuot loosing it in my dialer. It DOES work with CoolCamera, though, so the drivers for it ARE included in the Cingular rom.
So what exactly does this do:
From Dopod 838 Pro ROM 1.30.707.4 ExtROM
CAB: \Extended_ROM\P_wifi_fix.CAB

I installed it for shiggles... haven't noticed anything yet. Think I may give the Cingular ROM a shot tomorrow to see what they did with it and see if I can get a little better radio performance on their network. Going to go pick up a real 3G SIM tomorrow too.
Do you know what each of the CAB files install. I'm wondering if I need any of them.
Thanks

Any specifics on the radio and rom dates / numbers?
Cheers,
Arne
ROM: 1.30.707.4 (08/22/06)
Radio: 1.20.31.10
Protocol: 32.52.7020.00H
SPL-1.06
No big deal -- South Africa HTC ROM with Radio 1.18 and SPL 1.09 is quicker.
I'm switching back to the HTC SA ROM and wait for AKU3.X...
SuperCID rulz...
Cheers

After hard reset then allowing it to run auto install, this rom will install a 3 email (push mail) software on your phone. I have deleted mine so no pics sorry
thanks for that,
is the ext.rom on the ftp server ready for download? or can yu attach it here?
Cheers
I just logged into the Dopod site and can't see any new ROM listed. The patch for Telstra 3G is listed under "System Update" and nothing else.
I figured out problem, my account is registered to Australia - not Singapore.
I think the ROM been tk out......can't even find it on the website..
I've run this ROM for three days now -- no problems to speak of. I still think the South Africa HTC ROM is more polished. Yes, it has been removed from the dopod (singapore) website -- maybe moved to dopod Australia/New Zealand? Would make more sense.
It's now in the upload section on the FTP site -- will PM Pof to move it and create a download link on the wiki.
Cheers

Reports say that the Bluetooth on/off bug is fixed and the problem with PocketPlus Battery Bar in the SA ROM is fixed, how about this ROM?
Guys/Girls this was the release ROM from two months ago... no changes... This does not include the Telstra 850Mhz fix. That needs to be applied after... Anyone wanting the ExtROM it is in the WIKI... I extracted it a month ago...

The newer rom (11/2006) post in the subject has been removed by Dopod. Thus the Dopod website now only shows the ones from Aug (08/2006)..
Rapidshare link
Here is Rapidshare link to the newest Dopod 838 ROM (11/2006) AUS
http://rapidshare.com/files/5924708/HER_DopodAsia_AUS_1.30.707.4_1.20.31.10_WWE_Ship.exe.html
the file your uploading is still the Ship Rom which is dated two months ago and does not fix the Telstra 850Mhz issue.
I just got four Dopod 838Pro's delivered today (from Vodafone) and they have the same EXTENDED ROM as the one I got several weeks ago from a local reseller.
Same ROM details as well, compared to ROM mentioned in thread.

Ext. ROM and Hebrew

got the extended ROM files of Orange IL HTC Tytn. These are the files included :
CAB: \Extended_ROM\MT_Shortcut-MMS-Hermes.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\PP_ExtVersion.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\P_Generic_UI.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\PP_3-AP-Patch.CAB

CAB: \Extended_ROM\Today.cab
CAB: \Extended_ROM\Connection.cab
CAB: \Extended_ROM\HebCert.cab
CAB: \Extended_ROM\13969_1_HebrewTyTN.cab
CAB: \Extended_ROM\Operator.cab
Did someone ever tried to run the files and get working Hebrew at the end ?
I have Imate JasJam . The Ext. Rom is of HTC Tytn can any damage might happen ? Please advice.
Dotan!
If you provide the files I can install them on a WM6 emulator and see what happens, then I could truy it on my own Hermes which is running LVSW edition of WM6
I think the files I need are:
CAB: \Extended_ROM\HebCert.cab
CAB: \Extended_ROM\13969_1_HebrewTyTN.cab
I have been myself looking for the External ROM of one of the Israeli Hermeses but without any luck, Untill now that is I hope....
Thanx
files that you requsted
Dear friend , all the files you requested can be found here :
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Uploads/Hermes/HTC_TyTN_ExtRom_Orange-Israel-Hebrew_1.18.255.112.zip
Please return with good news
Dear Dotan,
I have tried also to intall WM6, the problem that the Hebrew version installed by eyron supports only WM2005.
And the version istalled is an OEM CAB version without any registration.
Eyron do provide a working BETA version, but you have to register as a trial for a week or purchase it - 300 shekels
The only thing to do is to wait and hope that when Orange offer an upgrade to WM6 it will without any additional cost.
Hope i have answered your quostion.
Dotan.
Dotan!
I have just tryed to install it on an WM Emulator WM5 & WM6 but in both cases it showed Hebrew backwards and it kept on telling me that the software was illegaly installed.
Further it is not Eiron but PDAC (or is it the same?) Strange though... On WM6 it installed succesfully so I presume it is compatible with WM6. Can you see if there is somekind reg key tha tha to be installed?? I also installed the HebrewCert.cab hoping that that would solve the problem but Alais
Let me know if you have any ideas.

Orange = PDAC Hebrew. Cellcom = Eyron.
=============
Saar
i tried it as well on black shadow
the hebrew installed ok, and i didnt get a message it was illegal, though it seems to be a non hardware keyboard version, becasue the keyboard tab is missing....
Saar, have you got access to a cellcom EXT ROM for us ??
i'd appreciate it as well. especially the intetnet and mms cabs
guys
PDAC uses an IMEI check, it will always install but only on the TyTN PDAC will authenticate and run.
I know of one test I trust(on a jasjam) - PDAC was not authenticated, you can try.
on WM6 - you`ll need to use the Enabled mode(English UI), I also recommend removing all MUI files(040d.mui) from the windows folder.
the best heb currently for jasjam/tytn is eyron's older beta(not the new one!)
I really think this thread should be on the "freak" forum and not here...

Nope and I was stupid enough to delete mine while upgrading to WM6.
This is a call for Cellcom IL JJ users with the ability to mount/copy/rapidshare JJ Ext. rom for community benefit. I think that most that can, hang out here anyway (and not elsewhere)....
i agree with Saar on that one
anyways, i'd really aprreciate the Cellcom JJ ext. rom if anyone can help with it...

Plonter!
My Thanks are HUGE!!!! I am going to test it on an emulator first...
Let you all know what and how
I beleive we need this cab: Default_MUI-Cellcom-27
but what is the Default_TelmapNav.cab? some kind of navigation sofware?? With or without MAPS? anybody ?
the best thing in these ExtRom is the mms setting
thanx
OK....
On the Emulator it did not work and told me that the version is unregistered. BUT the good news is that there was nothing said about incompatibility with WM6 so I assume that the Cellcom OEM version is compatible with WM6. So now who has the guts to test it on aWM6 or WM5 machine and see if the registration is Required or not?? I think the prog sees that this is no HERMES device and that is why it keeps asking to register. I would try it out myself on my MDA VARIO II with LVSW's WM6 on it but tomorrow is again the week starting and I can not afford to Cripple my device....
How can I use this rom? All I need is to be able to read hebrew on the internet with the english WM6 rom. I would like to leave the english interface for my Hermes. I'd try the Orange ExtROM on my Cingular 8525, but I could read the hebrew from left to right only. What should I do to make it work with the internet? (without pay any $ or shekels)
thanks for any info

I did try it on the black 2.5 rom couple weeks ago. it was working with no problems. I just couldn't change it to read from right to left and like you said it state version is unregistered.
Is there any way to install the 040d files that will let me read the hebrew on the internet?
