Subject: fax modem
From: XDA-developers
Date: 16 Dec, 2002 14:30:32
The modem is a fax modem, if you use through the bootloader (see
http://xda-developers.com/m
odem ). From the device, it should (we haven't done any
tests) behave as a fax modem through TAPI.
There is ommercial fax software available for Pocket PC, we
currently do not know if these packages must use AT commands or
can go through TAPI.
Talking to the modem directly from Pocket PC without TAPI in the
way remains an interesting topic.
Subject: Correction: TAPI says "no fax"
From: XDA developers
Date: 19 Dec, 2002 22:54:15
We just checked, and TAPI does not know about fax capabilities
of the modem, even though the GSM part seems to be a fax modem.
We'll keep you posted.

Just got off the phone with KSE Software. They would like people
to wait and not download what's offered at the deep link above.
The software needs a special DLL, which one is dependent on
whether it's an O2 XDA or T-Mobile MDA. They are working on a
page describing everything, and will report as soon as things
are ready for general download.
The demo at the link above, indeed, does not work as it
is.

1. Yes. I believe it has several days of backup once the

unfortunately the process is neither simple nor clean.

So there are a lot of different ROM's out there...official, unofficial, hacks, etc. on every thread.
Does anybody want to compile a list/chart of what versions are floating around and what versions their Himalayas are running( have run, if you've upgraded) and does it work for them? Maybe we can eventually get a db together with all the different ones out there to share. I have a few( none applied though).
For example:
Me I-mate PPC PE( fill in your version XDAII, MDAII, Qtek2020, etc)
Rom version:1.03.00USA
Rom Date:9/24/03
Radio Version: 1.05.12
Protocol version:1337.12
ExtROM version: 1.03.20
Language: English
Official? :yes
Upgraded? : no
Works for you: for now.
Or add their $0.02 and other categories to compile a list.
I-mate PPC PE
Rom version:1.52.00WWE
Rom Date:10/23/03
Radio Version: 1.06.01
Protocol version:1337.16
ExtROM version: 1.52.83
Language: English
Official :Yes
Upgraded : Yes
Works for you: Upgrade worked, but having bad battery life and signal problems ever since...
Hey hachepe, since you have the original ROMs still, could you backup them up off of your device, (OS, Radio, Ext, etc..). I'm thinking of downgrading.... (here some links on how, though I've never done it)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=4557&highlight=bootloader+command
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=4608
Thanks
I went from the official Imate rom that came with it to the official 1.52 version. Unit is faster, NO BATTERY PROBLEMS, or low signal problems, fixes for the (+) problem in the inbox program , msn messenger update , mms fix , Bluetooth profile fix for BT headset, much better signal, quick radio off mode. No issues VERY glad I updated.
Qtek 2020
Qtek 2020, went from an old US rom to the Tmobile 1.60 then to the new Qtek Rom from Dangaard after struggeling with the country id error:
Version: 1.60.00WWE
Date: 12.03.03
Radio version: 1.06.01
Protocol: 1337.16
ExtRom: 1.60.21
I like the Qtek rom better since it doesn't include the predefined setup of MMS an so on...

MDA II, upgraded the original German ROM (don't know the version number, I think 1.30) to the T-Mobile 1.60 NL (non official version). MDA is now in English, can't compare since I upgraded immediatly after purchase. Waiting with the Dangaard 1.60 upgrade.
Here is my config...
Qtek 2020
Rom version:1.52.00FRA
Rom Date:10/23/03
Radio Version: 1.05.12
Protocol version:1337.16
ExtROM version: 1.52.02
Language: French

Waiting for French upgrade... or perhaps might migrate to english ROM if no French version planified.

Subject: Qtek 2020 Support?
Importance: High
Hi,
I recently bought a QTek 2020 from a French online retailer (CDiscount).
This is a great device. Unfortunately, I can't find any kind of online
support for this device... Indeed, several HTC distributors (for instance
those that distribute XDA II or i-Mate - which are the same devices than
QTek 2020) are offering online support for their device (ROM update,
Software update, etc.).
What about QTek 2020 support? There is no area dedicated to QTek 2020 on
your web site. Moreover, your web site is unintelligible for foreigners...
Could you please give me a way to get the same kind of services than you
competitors?
Thanks in advance for your answer and Happy New Year!

Guillaume

To Guillaume:
You hit the point! Every retailer has to provide support for Qtek?
This is totally unfair. However, to be honest, Dangaard people is allowing the download of Qtek specific ROM without much of a question... for now.
I accepted an exchange from i-mate to Qtek, because my seller (Expansys) was sold out on I-mate, and claimed the device was the same (it is in fact) but no statement was made about support.
my config:
Qtek 2020
Originally 1.03.00 USA upgraded to T mobile ROM 1.60.00 WWE
ROM date 12/03/03
Radio version 1.06.01
Protocol version 1337.16
Ext ROM Version 1.60.06
Fortunately no problems about country ID, although I'm dealing with some minor bugs:¿Maybe another data base on ROM version specific problems?
1.- T-mobile 1.60, looks much faster than my Qtek original one (phone being the best part) although some minor bugs are there, some old, some new.
2.- I had to hard reset the machine more often to get rid of some bugs, the most annoying being The menu text font changing itself to white without apparent reason. Depending of your background theme, it becomes unreadable (T-mobile theme for instance) Seems related to trying new themes.
3.- PC message about USB port unrecognized.
4.- Refusal to sync notes. (This is my most recent one)
5.- My recurrent and permanent bug: week view on calendar (7 days, monday first) if today happens to be Sunday, every tap on the "go to today" button takes me to the NEXT week. Can anyone confirm this is PPC 2003 or XDAII/ROM specific? (Just change the date to the next sunday and tell me please)
6.- Both Brightness settings set themselves to ZERO, while working on the PDA. This is an awfull one, I thought I've lost my XDAII backlight! Until I found my way to the menu and settings, I wasn't able to recover the backlight. Try to do that on a poor light environment WITHOUT any backlight, (blaming the manufacturer and guessing who would fix it altogether) and you'll know what I'm talking about.
7.- And my final wish: When the BT Handsfree profile for my carkit?
:?:

2. Had also probs with changing themes.
3. I installed the most recent ActiveSync version from the Microsoft site, even before I connected the MDA II for the first time, so no probs with that.
4. Works fine here.
5. Tried this out, no prob, works fine.
6. Unknown problem here.
I do have problems with ActiveSync locking up from time to time. Then I have to kill it with taskmanager and restart it.
Hope this helps,

Works for you: yes with modification
Major problem with Qtek 1.60.21 (original 1.60.21 ExtRom). XDA2 will soft reset when a wav file is opened via file explorer. In one occassion it froze completely and cannot be revived by soft reset. Only after hard reset and removing the battery the XDA came back (for a while the PDA did'nt respond even to hard resets).
After extended ROM was re-flashed using moded custom Tmobile/O2 extrom, the wav file problem disappeared. Plus I was able to get the SPB GPRS monitor and my precious O2 bubbles.
PS: I used RPC's hexediting method to modify Thariman's custom ms_.nbf
and the GPRS "auto off"?
I had the original O2 1.03 and upgraded to Tmobile 1.6
Now the GPRS turns itself off after every use. very annoying.
I understand different versions have this set differently,
or anyone knows a reg key?!
which version should I get (English) to solve this?

THANKS FOR THE INFO!
Just moved to Dangaard ROM. Seems to go far better, although bugs seem to be the "essence" of XDA Software.
BTW with item 5, would you mind set for a moment Regional language to Spanish (Traditional sort) and make a try on the "sunday" bug. I've been unable to get rid of this, and it's my 3th ROM! My last shot is this is related to Language. (Note: week view on calendar, 7 days week, monday first, and today is Sunday... tap takes you to Monday next week!

Too many ROM's
Hi All,
I'm in Oz and when I tired to download the latest version of the WM6 for Atom Life the only file listed was this:
Xda_Atom_Life_WM6_WWE_RC2140907B2.exe (Flash.dio dated 15th May 07)
Reading through the XDA forums I managed to fine this one:
Xda_Atom_Life_WM6_WWE_RC2150507B1.exe (Flash.dio dated 19th Sept 07)
and now there was a new posting in XDA for this one:
Xda_Atom_Life_WM6_WWE_RC2170507B2.exe (Flash.dio Dated 17th May 07)
Can anyone shed some more information on the progress on these ROM's
I'm in the process of stripping a ROM to the bear bones for speed and somewhere to start for developers, but there is no point if I don't have the latest ROM to start with.

EDIT: Dates of dump files updated. If you go by the Flash.DIO file date, the ROM C2150507B1 is the latest. More Odd stuff...
