I was surf the net while the phone ring. I go ahead and answer the phone, it did take a couple of seconds to get the phone connected. There was a beep and I've noticed the GPRS signal was gone.
It is a bug or the xda was build like this? Is there any way to have both GPRS and phone up and running?
i never had that issue
maybe it's an operater issue or you use an old rom / radio stack
I and several others I've spoken to about it had a similar question. After some testing (and close reading of the O2 website) it turns out that this is 'as designed' behaviour. GPRS is "always on", but only while you are not making a GSM call. After your call finishes, the GPRS should automatically reconnect.
O2 cleverly glosses over the issue in its marketing materials by calling it "always on" just like that - in inverted commas - and explaining that you can be 'signed in to MSN Messenger all day' which is sort of true, in the sense that if you set up MSN Messenger to connect automatically (at considerable bandwidth cost!) it will reconnect when the GPRS connection is re-established after you complete a voice call.
This is my understanding anyway. If anyone knows more (or can reliably inform me that there is a ROM fix that will keep GPRS really always on, then I'm very keen to know...!
Greg.
BTW my ROM version was already the latest 3.20.06 ENG
Radio version 4.21.01
Here is what I just did.
I had GPRS enabled and try dialing a number. As soon as I got GSM connected, GPRS was no longer available and will not automatically reconnect.
Is there a setup for GPRS reconnection?
How do I go about the set my xda as GPRS always on?
Do I have to set my MSN Messenger to connect automatically in order to re-gain the automatically reconnection?
Thanx in advance.
Just went thru the FAQ's on myxda.com and here is what I've found.
12 . After finishing a phone call, sometimes I cannot use GPRS to surf the Internet? Is this correct?
Yes, GPRS needs to be re-connected if a phone call is made during a GPRS transaction.
21 . Can I make calls while surfing the net?
No, your gprs cannot be connected while a phone call is commencing.

Type in GPRS for the keywords.
Hello,
I installed then new ROM 2.11.255.1 on an English TyTN. Now it shows a specific icon when it's connected thru GPRS, EDGE, 3G or HSDPA, and it's cool.
Well, I noticed that when it's connected to data network and it shows the H icon of HSDPA, any attempt to make a phone call fails.
The issue appears also if the device is connected but it's not transmitting or receiving data.
Disconnecting the data connection fixes the problem, making me able to make phone calls again, but this is not a workaround when Direct Push is enabled, because when I disconnect the data connection it tries to immediately reconnect...
Does anybody has the same issue?
My provider is Telecom Italia Mobile.
Thanks!
Hi!
I have the same issue! this is extremely annoying, and sofar i dont know any workaround then to turn off push and disconnect the data session. In hoping the official WM6 rom with its upgrades will take care of this issue...
In Holland a similar problem was found by several users. It turned out to be a problem of the service provider (KPN), some problems with their hardware. The issue should be fixed later this year. You should check if more customers of the service provider have the same issues, as it might not be your phone or rom version that causes the problems.
Depends of you network ...its nothing related with your phone or radio version. Just disable hspda.
please how do i enable cell broadcast on this phone? i cant seem to locate the feature anywhere.
i need it because my home network gives good discounts on cell broadcast for calls
Hey guys. I have a slight problem on my phone. If I lose service on my phone it won't automatically reconnect to the network. I have to go into my mobile network settings and have the phone search for the network and than click on the network for it to connect. Its not a network issue its a phone issue and I was wondering if anyone knows of a good app, paid or free that will do this automatically for me because if I'm not paying attention and I lose service it just says no service until I do the steps above.
Thanks!
Just what the title says. My phone tells callers that I'm not accepting calls and when I attempt to make calls it simply refuses to do so or displayed a "call ended" message without ever dialing the other person. Everything else works fine and I can even make voice calls if I use duo mode instead of mobile. I can also receive calls if the caller uses duo mode.
Have been through everything except an actual reset. Unable to do that since the phone was a hand-me-down and I don't know the PIN. I've about reached the point where I do a hard reset manually but I hate to lose my data. Does anyone have anything I could try to either bypass or recover the PIN or something I could use to get mobile mode to work again?
Your sure you have service? If you do, do you have credit? Both of those would prevent you making calls. You can still use Duo if your on WiFi or you have a data only service. If you are showing that your connected to the network and you are certain you have minutes in your plan or credit available then you will need to call your network provider so they can see if there's any network issues preventing your calls. Check the network operators status page to see if there's issues in your area.
@Nofsdad
It appears that when using a Galaxy S9+ with ATT service the phone is unable to do VoLTE
The way that I was able to have internet on the phone and voice calling was to go into the APN and set the Network Mode to 3G/2G (auto connect)
That fixed it for me. Still pissed off that I can't use LTE but oh well it will work until I upgrade the phone.

Hello, I have an unlocked s9 that is going through a similar issue in not being able to make or receive calls. Can you let me know how you got the APN settings for 3G/2G? Going to APN settings I only see the nxgenphone setting open and active, which I heard was for LTE.
Also, can you let me know what setting it has to be in the 4636 mobile network settings in order to restore data? Thanks
