SMS backup-getting SMS Export tool (yorch.net) working? - MDA, XDA, 1010 General

HI together, :?
I`m new in this forum and found it because I have a issue I don`t get rid of. I have 2500 sms messages on my xda and want to sell it to get a new one. My problem is I don`t want to delete my whole sms messages as there are so many important one I can`t delete as I need them documented.
I installed now the SMS Export tool from yorch.net as I red in this forum here that I should be able to get this done with this tool.
Problem is that I´m not able to get it done successfully.
1. I downloaded the tool and installed it from my PC over Active Sync on my xda.
2. I can see the SMSExport.vce file in my root folder on my xda
3. I can see the VICERT.vce and Visual CE.unload file under /windows
Problem is now that I need asistance how I can use the tool now ?
1. If I start the VICERT.vce file I get the msg "Run VisualCE.exe to create a form"
2. If I run Visual CE.unload file as I don`t see a exe I get the msg that there is no application assigned to the file?
3. If I riun the SMSExport.vce file I get a programm called SMS Export Utility in front of me where I don`t know how to handle to get the sms messages on my local PC.
My aim is to read the sms messages on my local pc (word or txt file) and burn it as backup on a cd.
I would really appreciate any help as I spent hours already on this topic and I`m not smart enough to get it done.
Thanks in advance...

I faced the same problem, I've searched all over this forum, but until late, I used this software : Smart Phone Studio (http://smartdev.51.net/)
It lets you save all your SMS from phone to PC, and you can also save them on text files with nice formatting
You can also backup SMS from your device, and restore them from the PC at anytime you want!!!

ah I forgot to tell that it also works for XDAs, regardless of its name

Thanks for fast response ...
Do you have the program on your local machine to send it to me via email ? I`m not able to download the program as there is no version available at the moment ...

I'd appreciate a copy as well if possible.

Oops! its not available on the site & its not free anymore!!!!!
But don't worry, I will send u a copy of it when I come back home..

Ok, here is the file..
Simple steps to run it:
1. Change your PC date to March 2004.
2. Copy SPStudio.exe to your PC & run it.
3. Copy CommMan.exe to your pocket PC & run it.
4. Just click on the buttons at the left panel to access your SMS messages & use FILE menu to export/import messages.
Cheers

Thanks. I appreciate it.

Thhhhhhhhhhhhhhanks ... it is working. I really appreciate your time to help me. Just saved thousands of sms .... really cool. Have a great time.
Cu Mic

You are most welcome guys
I've recently found a software which synchronizes you SMS with MS Outlook! SMS Sync for Outlook:
http://www.v2r-advanced.com/SMSSync.html
I wonder why Microsoft does not support synchronize SMS with ActiveSync, much like emails :?

I've found a new software which transforms your SMS messages into emails, which then can be easily synchronized with the PC
http://www.geocities.com/tomgrek/
anyone tested it ????

download source for spstudio (expiring by april 2004)
after some browsing the web i have found an alternative download source for the famous spstudio:
http://www.coolsmartphone.com/cooldownloads/SPStudio.zip
you probably have to register at coolsmartphone.com (its for free) before you are allowed to download files.
also consider the hints given above (setting back the date of your pc to march 2004 etc.) for getting the tool working.
enjoy

help...
i am also desperately trying to backup valuable sms. unfortunately i need to back them up since i need to reset my device cause active sync is no longer working ..BIG PROBLEM...i cannot use any of the above tools without active sync.
any ideas how i can get the sms off my MDA without active sync???
thanks
woody

Since your active sync is not working, you can try to backup your files to SD card (use Sprite Backup or anything else to do so) and then you can hard reset your device safely..

Make sure it is the latest version of sprite backup, that software caused nightmares for me, after restoring I could not recieve or send sms so please be sure you get the latest fixed version.

but how can i use sprite backup if i cannot install the software ? no acitve sync, no new installations...

if you can find it as a cab file you can copy it to your sdcard and run it from your xda

SMS Sync Outlook
Hello, Regarding the SMS Sync Outlook...one of the requirements was having Outlook 2003. I still use Outlook 2002, does it matter? Don't really want to upgrade to 2003 yet as there might still be some bugs. Any thoughts anyone?
Thanks,
Bree :?:

Hi Bree (Kabayan?)
I am using Outlook 2003 for several months and as of this moment no problems or bugs yet.

attachments not syncing with activesync

Hi all,
I'm a newbie to this all but have updated my O2 with Sin's merged files. Well done, Sin! Excellent stuff. But I have one prblem that maybe someone can tell me how to fix:
When syncing the updated O2 with Microsoft Outlook 2003 on my PC (using the USB cradle), all mail attachments do not sync onto the O2 and a conflict message appears on Activesync against Inbox. If I move the e-mails from my (PC) Outlook Inbox folder to nother folder within Outlook, the conflicts message disappears. If I move the e-mails back into the Outlook Inbox folder, the conflct message returns.
Can anyone help me please?
open activesync
press tools
press options
click inbox
press settings
look if it's set to include file attachments
Hi Rudegar,
Yes, I had checked that and the "include file attachments" is checked.
Attachment not syncing or downloading
I deleted database pmailAttachs and it helps :

Can you tell me where is the file?
My problems is after selecting a file to attach, it prompted the error message I mentioned earlier that no files could be attached at all. The files cannot be viewed under your device's File Explorer. But if you explore your device from the PC, you'll see an additional folder called Databases where you cannot add/edit/delete. I had to download a tool called Pocket dbExplorer.

Thanks Zoran, will give it a try.

I have tried removing the attachment database and this did fix the sync issue but I still cannot open any attachments now :-(
Many thanks!

TalkBox - how to get voice messages from iphone to pc
In order to copy voice messages created by talkbox app from your iOS device all you have to do is to gain access to your device file system with any free software (I used iExplorer ). acess your device and you will see at the root file system the directory User->Applications and there all you application data is stored - one of them is TalkBox (you will recognize it by enter every folder and check for the folder that finish with '.app' or see the icon of the application inside it). all the messages are in [talkbox-folder-id]->Documents->Audio at caf files (Core Audio Format). export it easily with your software to your pc. Cheers and Good Luck !

Getting contacts out of PIMBACKUP via WM emulator

OK.. so I've managed to install microsoft WM6 emulator on my PC and managed to get PIMBACKUP installed and my contacts restored on it. However, in order to get all these contact back out.. I'm going to need to back them up on the emulated device.
What program can I use in WM6 that I can also import the details into Android please? (I.e. no point using PIM Backup, because it doesn't have an Android program so thats out... what other programs please?)
UPDATE: Actually I managed to suss a solution out. I went here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=734044 and followed the instructions Imported the resulting CSV file into GMAIL (doing that at present).
BTW.. when using EXCEL, when selecting columns with tel numbers in.. make sure you pick the column as 'text' otherwise it will screw your numbers up (Like dropping the zero's from the front, and thinking it's an integer etc...)

Transfer iPhone Backup to S3 with Kies?

Hi,
i want to transfer my sms and contacts to the s3 with kies. After chosing my newly created and not encrypted itunes backup off the iphone in Kies i get always the following error : "The backup information could not be read. Please choose a valid backup file."
Latest Kies Version and S3 Firmware Version. Can someone tell me how to fix this?
No, but you might want to change the thread to a question, I though this was a tutorial!
You need a Phone to Phone Data Transfer software, have anyone use this:
URL= recovery-iphone.com/phone-to-phone-data-transfer.html
This MobileTrans is a powerful phone to phone data transfer tool lets you seamlessly copy data between Android, Symbian and iOS phones. With one click, you can directly transfer data between two phones,no matter Android phone (HTC, Samsung, etc.), Symbian phone (Nokia, Motorola, etc.) or iOS phone (iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, etc). You can selectively transfer data between any two of them without data loss. Moreover, Directly transfer from one phone to another, no need of any transfer stop during the process.
Sync contacts with Gmail and send yourself texts? Think you can only sync music with kies?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
For sms messages transfer, a program called iPhone SMS + MMS to Android Transfer from backuptrans may help. google it.

Nope, very buggy and bad program.
I managed to get my sms to the phone with another program though.
see this guide: http://faked.org/isms2droid/
iPhone SMS to Android Converter
Step 1: How to find your iPhone SMS database
Jailbreakers: You can either follow the "iTunes Users" instructions, or install OpenSSH via Cydia and use something like scp, WinSCP or Fugu to copy "/var/Mobile/Library/SMS/sms.db" to your desktop.
iTunes Users: If you have a recent backup of your iPhone, or haven't received any new SMS you'd like to move to your Android phone since the last backup, you can skip the first step:
make a backup in iTunes (right-click your iPhone icon in the left pane)
depending on your operating system, go to the folder
Windows 7/Vista: "C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\"
Windows XP: "C:\Documents and Settings\[USERNAME]\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\"
Mac OS X: "~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/"
Linux: "/itunes/?/you're/kidding/me/right/?" (seriously, i have no idea if that's ever gonna happen)
if there's more than one folder in there, look for the one which doesn't have a timestamp (-YYYYMMDD-HHMMSS) at the end, and open it
copy the file "3d0d7e5fb2ce288813306e4d4636395e047a3d28" to your desktop
older iTunes versions may use the extensions ".mddata" or ".mdbakup"
on Mac OS X Lion the file doesn't have any file extension
optional: rename "3d0d7e5fb2ce288813306e4d4636395e047a3d28" to "sms.db", if you're a neat-freak
Step 2: Use iSMS2droid
Option 1) Get iSMS2droid on the Android Market
Step 3: Import your messages on Android
If you used Option 1 (the App):
Install SMS Backup & Restore (Android Market Link) to your Android phone, launch it, tap on "Restore", select "iSMS2droid.xml", done!

[Q] How to backup all conversation from my Windows Phone using an android emulator?

Need : Periodically backup all the messages of all my conversation on Whatsapp on my Lumia Windows Phone.
What I do now : Open whatsapp in my phone and export all possible meesages using the inbuilt option.
Issues with this : Lumia Windows Phone allows only that last 'n' no. of lines to be sent as mail (around 500 lines). So, in effect I cannot have a complete backup.
One possible option I felt :
Install Whatsapp on Bluestacks.
Get a copy of all messages I get on my Windows phone, on to my bluestacks
Access the database on bluetstacks using a file manager and retrieve the entire database at the end of each month.
There are many issues that might happen with this
Since whatsapp wont allow to get a copy of all messages, I will have to trick whatsapp to think both the devices are the same. I read somewhere that whatsapp does this check using the mac address. So I tried changing the mac address of bluestack to match my windows phone (it did not work)
I am in a mess now. I dont know how to proceed.
What is your suggestion as to how I can approach this issue? Please help.
