attachments not syncing with activesync - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 ROM Development

Hi all,
I'm a newbie to this all but have updated my O2 with Sin's merged files. Well done, Sin! Excellent stuff. But I have one prblem that maybe someone can tell me how to fix:
When syncing the updated O2 with Microsoft Outlook 2003 on my PC (using the USB cradle), all mail attachments do not sync onto the O2 and a conflict message appears on Activesync against Inbox. If I move the e-mails from my (PC) Outlook Inbox folder to nother folder within Outlook, the conflicts message disappears. If I move the e-mails back into the Outlook Inbox folder, the conflct message returns.
Can anyone help me please?

open activesync
press tools
press options
click inbox
press settings
look if it's set to include file attachments

Hi Rudegar,
Yes, I had checked that and the "include file attachments" is checked.

Attachment not syncing or downloading
I deleted database pmailAttachs and it helps :

Can you tell me where is the file?
My problems is after selecting a file to attach, it prompted the error message I mentioned earlier that no files could be attached at all. The files cannot be viewed under your device's File Explorer. But if you explore your device from the PC, you'll see an additional folder called Databases where you cannot add/edit/delete. I had to download a tool called Pocket dbExplorer.

Thanks Zoran, will give it a try.

Hi Guys
Please can you let me know how you fixed this problem I am having the same issue with the same ROM I belive.
I have tried removing the attachment database and this did fix the sync issue but I still cannot open any attachments now :-(
Many thanks!

SMS backup-getting SMS Export tool (yorch.net) working?

HI together, :?
I`m new in this forum and found it because I have a issue I don`t get rid of. I have 2500 sms messages on my xda and want to sell it to get a new one. My problem is I don`t want to delete my whole sms messages as there are so many important one I can`t delete as I need them documented.
I installed now the SMS Export tool from yorch.net as I red in this forum here that I should be able to get this done with this tool.
Problem is that I´m not able to get it done successfully.
1. I downloaded the tool and installed it from my PC over Active Sync on my xda.
2. I can see the SMSExport.vce file in my root folder on my xda
3. I can see the VICERT.vce and Visual CE.unload file under /windows
Problem is now that I need asistance how I can use the tool now ?
1. If I start the VICERT.vce file I get the msg "Run VisualCE.exe to create a form"
2. If I run Visual CE.unload file as I don`t see a exe I get the msg that there is no application assigned to the file?
3. If I riun the SMSExport.vce file I get a programm called SMS Export Utility in front of me where I don`t know how to handle to get the sms messages on my local PC.
My aim is to read the sms messages on my local pc (word or txt file) and burn it as backup on a cd.
I would really appreciate any help as I spent hours already on this topic and I`m not smart enough to get it done.
Thanks in advance...
I faced the same problem, I've searched all over this forum, but until late, I used this software : Smart Phone Studio (http://smartdev.51.net/)
It lets you save all your SMS from phone to PC, and you can also save them on text files with nice formatting
You can also backup SMS from your device, and restore them from the PC at anytime you want!!!
ah I forgot to tell that it also works for XDAs, regardless of its name

Thanks for fast response ...
Do you have the program on your local machine to send it to me via email ? I`m not able to download the program as there is no version available at the moment ...
I'd appreciate a copy as well if possible.
Oops! its not available on the site & its not free anymore!!!!!
But don't worry, I will send u a copy of it when I come back home..
Ok, here is the file..
Simple steps to run it:
1. Change your PC date to March 2004.
2. Copy SPStudio.exe to your PC & run it.
3. Copy CommMan.exe to your pocket PC & run it.
4. Just click on the buttons at the left panel to access your SMS messages & use FILE menu to export/import messages.
Cheers
Thanks. I appreciate it.
Thhhhhhhhhhhhhhanks ... it is working. I really appreciate your time to help me. Just saved thousands of sms .... really cool. Have a great time.

You are most welcome guys
I've recently found a software which synchronizes you SMS with MS Outlook! SMS Sync for Outlook:
http://www.v2r-advanced.com/SMSSync.html
I wonder why Microsoft does not support synchronize SMS with ActiveSync, much like emails :?
I've found a new software which transforms your SMS messages into emails, which then can be easily synchronized with the PC
http://www.geocities.com/tomgrek/
anyone tested it ????
download source for spstudio (expiring by april 2004)
after some browsing the web i have found an alternative download source for the famous spstudio:
http://www.coolsmartphone.com/cooldownloads/SPStudio.zip
you probably have to register at coolsmartphone.com (its for free) before you are allowed to download files.
also consider the hints given above (setting back the date of your pc to march 2004 etc.) for getting the tool working.

help...
i am also desperately trying to backup valuable sms. unfortunately i need to back them up since i need to reset my device cause active sync is no longer working ..BIG PROBLEM...i cannot use any of the above tools without active sync.
any ideas how i can get the sms off my MDA without active sync???
thanks
woody
Since your active sync is not working, you can try to backup your files to SD card (use Sprite Backup or anything else to do so) and then you can hard reset your device safely..
Make sure it is the latest version of sprite backup, that software caused nightmares for me, after restoring I could not recieve or send sms so please be sure you get the latest fixed version.

if you can find it as a cab file you can copy it to your sdcard and run it from your xda
SMS Sync Outlook
Hello, Regarding the SMS Sync Outlook...one of the requirements was having Outlook 2003. I still use Outlook 2002, does it matter? Don't really want to upgrade to 2003 yet as there might still be some bugs. Any thoughts anyone?
Thanks,

Hi Bree (Kabayan?)
I am using Outlook 2003 for several months and as of this moment no problems or bugs yet.

emails on MicroDrive?

Hi Guys, I have a problem with making my Athena WM6 sync emails on the MicroDrive instead of the Storage.
I checked the box on the Massenger but doesn't seem to change anything, regardless of restarts and changing the subfolders to sync (takes ages). Anyone delt with this already?
thnx in advance
Hi, the mail client don´t let you change the destination of the mails only the attachments but I have tried to redirect them to the microdrive and it did not work.
I found this place
http://www.tleone.com/windows-mobil...ve-email-and-attachments-to-storage-card.html
I followed the instructions there and I could redirect the mails and the attachments to the memory card, I haven´t tried yet to send them to the microdrive but I guess that we only must change the path to aim to the microdrive instead to the storage card.

Exporting Contacts from Windows Mobile to Android (Without Outlook or Google Sync)

This tip can be found in various parts of this forum, but I'm putting it here so that it can be more easily located.
The easiest way to move your contacts from Windows Mobile to Android (or just to Google in general):
While Booted into Windows Mobile:
Download "Dotfred's PimBackup" (see below), it's a ZIP file, extract the one file in the ZIP to your storage card. If you can't unzip from your phone, do this step on a PC.
http://www.dotfred.net/PIM/PPCPimBackupV2.8_wm2005.zip
Launch the application. Select the action "Backup" (should be default). Uncheck everything but "Contacts" then hit "Next > >"
Uncheck everything but "Create temp files in memory", hit "Next > >" (very important, don't screw this part up!)
Once the backup has completed, hit "Exit" on the bottom-left
Now connect the phone to your PC (or remove the SD card and put it in an adapter) in order to access the file PimBackup created:
Look for a new file called "PIMBackup_xxxxxxxx.pib" (the 'x's will be numbers representing the date of the backup)
Rename that file, changing the extension from ".pib" to ".zip", and open the ZIP file
Extract the file "contacts_xxxxxxxx.csc" to somewhere on your computer, and change the extension from ".csc" to ".csv"
From here you can import the contacts into Google, but I *highly* suggest taking the time to perform a few extra steps to clean up the data a little bit.
Importing into Google

More Cleaning of the Data
You should open your CSV file in either Microsoft Excel, or OpenOffice.org Calc. The CSV is semicolon delimited, meaning you can't just straight up open these files and work with them, instead you have to perform a couple extra steps in either one:
Microsoft Excel
http://www.online-tech-tips.com/cool-websites/importing-delimited-files-in-excel/
OpenOffice.org Calc
On open of the CSV, check the "semicolon" box, uncheck all the rest.

If ur using a rhod with a Sim, just go under menu in the contact tab in winmo and save to sim. Then import from xdandroid. I've seen a lot of tuts saying remove you sim before booting xdandroid, but I never have and it get connectivity. Maybe its becuz I'm on tmobile. I dunno. But I hope this help
Sent from my MSM using XDA App
T-Mobile TP2 Froyo 2.21
trying this right now, I havent, done the "Clean up " steps, but it seems that only the contacts that have Photo Contacts or specialized ringtones from WinMo are the ones that have a lot of this:
0x3c,0x00,0x48,0x00,0x54,0x00,0x43,0x00,0x44,0x00,0x61,0x00,0x74,0x00
showing up in the notes. but other than that, I could live without doing the clean up... I tried doing the cleanup with Excel, but it wasnt working.
Thanks a lot though, this helped a great amount

I don't know, Honestly I followed http://www.google.com/support/mobile/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=138636. Activesync did it's thing and when I reset into Android I had all my contacts.
having the contacts is one thing but does it import them with pics ?
export as vcards
'vcard expert' is a windows mobile app that can backup your contacts and their pics as vcards. This format is recognised by different vendors so can easily transfer your contacts to other platforms such as android.
is it possible to import contact to Android without sync to google server (gmail)?
I don't really want google to save my family and friends contact information
There is also Funambol
Not tried it myself but it claims to sync PIM data across multiple platforms inc WM and Android. I believe it's free for something like 90 days
Deleted message.
Can sms's (messages) be exported the same way 2...i mean using pimbackup...or there is some other method...i moved from Touch pro 2 to Htc desire loving it
after - saved for changes - what i do.. can u explain it

Import contacts from vcf file

I have exported multiple contacts successfully in to one single vcf file. If copy this via WebDAV to my share, the file is copyed. But when I now try to import this vcf, only one contact is imported. If i open this vcf with a editor on the device, it shows only obe contact.
Do I rename the file to contacts.vcf.txt and open this in the same editor on the device, i have multiple contacts inside. If i rename it back to contacts.vcf, its again only one contact inside.
What's going on here and how can I import successfully a vcf file with multiple contacts inside?

Vcards have special formats, maybe your formatting isn't correct after adding seperate contacts to one file?
It should look like this(2 contacts within that file):
BEGIN:VCARD
VERSION:2.1
N:john;doe;;;
FN:John doe
TEL;CELL:1234567
END:VCARD
BEGIN:VCARD
VERSION:2.1
N:john;doe2;;;
FN:John doe2
TEL;CELL:123456789
END:VCARD
The problem seems to be the transfer of the file. If I use Google Drive as a backup, the file stays intact. I will test a other WebDAV server and see afterwards if there the same problem exists. If not, I try to change my server setting.
The file itself is created by Google contacts, I assume, that it writes a correct structure.
UPDATE: I have made some more test's. The file upload seems to be work correctly. If i upload the file to the server, the file is saved there with the correct content. I could open it on the shell with "cat contacts.vcf" and see, that all entry's and contacts are there. However, if I open the file via a browser or other WebDAV client via GET, the file seems to be broken. I have only one entry. Additionally, before this "conversion" the file started with:
BEGIN:VCARD
VERSION:2.1
...
Click to collapse
But now i have it look like:
BEGIN:VCARD
VERSION:3.0
...

Not at all, that i have only one contact, i now have vCard version 3 instead of 2.1. I'm sure this is a server side issue. But i have no idea how to fix this.

Strange that your webdav modifies the content of a file
As workaround you can zip the file.
Yes, really strange. I use Nginx for the webserver and SabreDAV for DAV. I now know that the problem comes from SabreDAV and not Nginx. If i use pure Nginx WebDAV, the transfer works without any problem in both directions.
To bad, that development of SabreDAV is stalled since last year. Maybe I found a fix for SabreDAV and can make a pull request in their GIT repository.

I use nginx too, but with nextcloud and it's own dav access. No problems here.
Hmm last time as i have played with NextCloud it uses SabreDAV 3.2.2 as the base for its DAV operations. But it was terrible slow against a pure SabreDAV installation on the same hardware. I wonder if it uses actually also SabreDAV or maybe they have made some modifications? And you say, you can upload such a export and download it again without getting the vcard converted to a single vcard? we live in a strange world...
Meanwhile is have disabled WebDAV and use Nginx WebDAV on the same url/path as a workaround. This works great and is a little bit faster than SabreDAV/WebDAV other the PHP stack. But maybe we can get a fix by SabreDAV itself. The behaviour is accepted as a bug.

Sure, Sabredav is included in nextcloud but I think it is they develop it independently from its source. I can upload vcf like the format I mentioned before. If I download them again from nextcloud contacts they are changed a little bit:
BEGIN:VCARD
VERSION:4.0
PRODID:+//IDN bitfire.at//DAVdroid/1.11-ose ez-vcard/0.10.3
UID: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
...
...
REV:20180422T201525Z
END:VCARD
But I have no problems to import them again. So android uses an older vcf format than nextcloud/carddav.
