INFARED REMOTE - MDA, XDA, 1010 General

IS MY INFARED ON MY XDA NOT STRONG ENOUGH A PEICE OF SOFTWHERE NEEDED OR IS JUST THAT THE INFARED IS TO WEEK ON THE XDA TO BE USED AS AN INFARED REMOTE CONTROLL. I HAVE INSTALLED A REMOTE SOFTARE WHICH DID WORK BUT IT ONLY WORKED WHEN THE XDA WAS NEXT TO THE TV. IS THERE A WAY TO BOOST THE INFARED.
THANK YOU, ANY REPLIES APPRICIATED[/b][/u][/code]

Wassup!
It seems that XDA IrDA receiver is similiar to the new generation of notebook receivers (combo of Serial IrDA (SIR) and Fast IrDA (FIR)). The major disadvantage of the new IrDA technology is our problem, i.e. they can not be used to transmit beams to home appliances and receive beams from them.

The XDA infrared works as TV (etc) remote. It is just that the signal is too weak. So you will have to hold the XDA close to the appliance. It defeats the purpose of using a remote really.

yes but the links i gave should amplify the ir signal with the external box and give it a longer range but with an addon and size inc then imho it pretty much defeat the purpos of making things easier

XDA Bluetooth Adaptor ??????

Hi,
Ive got an xda and love this pda/phone, ive read about the xda 2 and it looks great, but im wondering what people here think of the Jabra BT200 Bluetooth Headset for XDA ?????? does anyone have any experience of this http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/product/1842.htm ??
As its around 99.00 pounds and will make the xda bluetooth !!!!!! so im in 2 minds to get this and not worry about the xda 2.
I would appreiciate anyones comments
Many Thx
well
well I had the jabra blue tooth handsfree, but I returned it. Problem I had with it is the big old dongle thingie that you had to plug into the phone and have hanging off the phone.
I also found that you could not answer the phone with just the jabra handsfree, you had to press the talk button on the phone.
I think the actual blue tooth version, working with the XDA II will be more in line with my expectations of what a wireless hands free should be and do.
Its a pity that the adaptor didnt give full bluetooth capability for gps etc, the dongle wouldnt bother me in the car, I think they make the point in their advert that the fone can be left in your desk and you just wear the headset, it certainly isnt a practical design to carry about.
I got mine from http://www.expansys.com/ for £75+vat
I keep my XDA on the beltclip and put the dongle in my pocket.
The dongle thingy can be a pain, but in the main I prefer the Jabra to a mess a tangled wires and I can use it on my cordless landline phone at work so I can walk around the office handsfree.
The Jabra BT200 headset will answer & end calls direct from the headset itself. This is how I have mine setup. The instructions on how to do so are in the Jabra manual.

Sony Bluetooth Transmitter and Receiver

Hi. Can I use my Hero with Sony HWS-BTA2W Bluetooth Transmitter and Receiver? I want to stream music with Gmote from my Desktop and play on my HiFi. Is it possible?
I bought one from Ebay for about £30.
It DOES work but I found it to be too unreliable for regular use.
The connection often drops if line of sight is interrupted, ie if someone walks in between and it often takes several tries to make a connection.
This is with less than 8 feet between sofa and receiver.
B
That is bad. Are there anybody who uses yamaha yba-10?
Bluetooth should work fine as long as sender and receiver are in the same room. I think somebody dumped his broken bt receiver on ebay ;-)
A2DP is good quality, but if you have a high-quality stereo you'll still hear the difference between wire and wireless...
The OP should also clarify whether he wants to stream from his desktop or from the hero. Unless he uses the hero as his desktop, which I doubt.

It was definitely unused and sealed in original packing, just wanted to share the fact it does not work well with my Hero! I have since found some online reviews where similar problems are highlighted.
Sound quality when working is OK but as Volker says not as good as wires!

[REQ] Turn FM radio around? (FM transmitter)

The thunderbolt has an fm radio reciever (requires headphone wire to use as Antennae). I can't find the data sheets, but on previous htc phones, the fm receiver hardware has transmit capabilities as well.
I want an app to turn on radio transmitting, so I can listen to pandora, music, last.fm, etc over my car radio.
This thread looks promising, but is over my head. help?

That would be pretty cool if it was possible
I do this now but I use a cord out the headphone jack and input into the car radio aux jack.
But it would be great to drop the cord.

If your car has an audio input that is a MUCH better solution, using the FM transmitter will just be a massive drop in quality and be susceptible to interference.
Either way though, this would be nice to have in a pinch, and for people who don't have inputs
i dont see this happening. even though he circuitry is similar between a receiver and transmitter, there is still other things that come into play as in how and what the actual circuitry attached to. Somebody is blowing smoke up your ass.

No ones doing any smoke blowing. I'm simply aware of the fact that on datasheets for previous Qualcomm chips they include terms like FM transmitting. I'm aware of circuitry requirements, but given the implementation of fm recieving via headphone cable antannae, and the transmitter being integrated into the same (Qualcomm MSM8655) chip, it seems logical that all the hardware is there, we just need to figure out the software part of this. IF the hardware isn't there, I'd imagine it to be as simple as routing power to the right pin.
I've been hunting for the Qualcomm MSM8655 datasheet for a while now, can't find it. Anyone know where a copy is?
Don't rain on my parade!
I believe this would violate FCC regulations somehow ?!

Nothing wrong with someone owning an fm transmitter. An unregulated one though might be an issue.

The general rule of thumb with FM transmissions Is that if you aren't bothering anyone enough to complain, then USUALLY you are fine.
Sent from my ThunderBolt using XDA App
Well i did have an fm transmitted that worked really well even came with a little remote I got it at family dollar for like $10 but the heat in the car killed it I think because it doesn't work any more This idea was good because usually transmitters have to be recharged or they have crappy batteries that don't last so having it in the same device rather then a separate one is way handy if it's possible!

What Bluetooth are you using?

So.... I'm in the market for a new Bluetooth and wanted to get some REAL user feedback of what everyone is using and what are their pros and cons are of the Bluetooth you are using.
What I'm looking for is a Bluetooth that can take advantage of Androids voice commands thru the Bluetooth with out touching the phone (i.e. Call xxx, navigate to... Listen to.. Send text to...)
Also I have seen and been reading that some Bluetooth manufactures are releasing their own apps in the market. which enhance the Bluetooth experience with text to speech, and ability to respond to text thru the Bluetooth.
Also would like to know what sound quality is, how well music streams, voice and call quality(on both ends) and distance away from phone(how far you can go) and talk time.
There is one Bluetooth I have been looking into, and it is the motorola HX550 that sprint has.. It has moto speak app (which will read your text to you and you can respond to text thru the Bluetooth and has a range of 300 feet.
So please let me know what your pros and cons are...
Thank you for your input...

I have the Jawbone Icon and I'm very happy with it. I upgraded to it from the Jawbone 2, which I still have and it still works perfect as well. With the Icon you can listen to music and audio from movies/videos on your phone. All you have to do is sync it with Jawbone's website and update out to the latest software. The company, Aliph, constantly has software updates and apps on the Jawbone website so you can keep your headset up to date with the latest features. I've never had a Bluetooth headset before that had those kind if features, its really nice.

I have the hx550 and am happy with it. I listen to music all day at work through it. Motospeak works pretty accurately and you can customize the fit for you easily.

I don't use it a ton but I have some cheap LG model someone gave me as a gift, nothing remarkable about the earpiece itself... The car dock/speaker it comes with is pretty neat tho, it comes with a basic windshield cradle with two suction cups and it has photovoltaic cells on the outward facing side... So I drop the earpiece into that car speaker/solar charger and I never need to worry about charging it.
Kind of gimmicky since the batteries on these things last a while, but since I don't use it a lot and my car didn't have BT it's particularly convenient. I use a separate Kensington kit for BT music streaming in the car tho, the remote on that LiquidAux kit is something I haven't seen elsewhere.

They're pretty great for listening to music and phone calls.
Lg hbs-700
got these LG bt headphones and they rock. U have to go check it out, search Google
I had them working two rooms away or 60 feet no problem
Great for stereo sound, phone calls, listening to books, and bt commands
LG HBS-700
I've been using the Motorola S10-HD headset for a few months now and like it a lot. The mics isn't as good as on a dedicated talk only headset like the jawbone (which I also own but always seem to misplace) but its durability and multi function use as a stereo headset when needed works perfect for my needs.
Far as the specifics you mention, I've been clear across my house and still had a great connection while listening to music. As far as function, it seems to do everything my jawbone does in terms of using the voice dialing and music player controls but I haven't figured out a way to send a text message via the headset, that would be handy.
Just ordered the jabra sport Bluetooth yesterday. Well update post when they arrive in a couple of days

How are the voice commands does the Bluetooth get what you are saying must of the time or do you have to repeat yourself?
Any for replying to text?

I haven't tested the range too much. I left it in the backroom of my store and walked outside and it lost connection. Straight line distance at most 20 feet but lots of metal, electronics and concrete that could harm signal transmission

I have the Motorola finiti, which I love. It actually goes in the ear instead of the ones that have the big speaker that goes against the ear canal. Those require you to use the over the ear thingy, whereas this one doesn't because it goes in the canal. If you wear glasses, as I do, or don't want to wear the "thingy" all the time, I'd look at something like the finiti.
When it comes to voice dial, It's hit or miss, more often than not it fails to make the correct call or even one at all. I get a lot of "no result try again" or "calling John on mobile" when I clearly said something completely different like call Galaxy 1.

hey guy, don't be a noob.
"bluetooth" is just the radio technology being used so when you say which bluetooth we are using, it sounds really silly. What want to say is which bluetooth headset everyone is using.

Everybody that has read and responded to this thread knew exactly what was meant, as did you. Yes, it could have been worded differently, but there is no need for this post. Besides there's different Bluetooth devices, not just the headset, there's in car speaker, earpiece, headphones, even a car radio. So calling them all just plain Bluetooth is standard for most people and everyone understands it.
While we're correcting people your sentence should have been "What YOU want to say is: Which Bluetooth headset IS everyone using?"

[Q]Photon Compatible Stereo Receiver??

Hi Everyone
So I'm looking to move out of the stone age and get a receiver unit for my car that has BT and some other bells and whistles if not too costly. My first problem is that when I look on manufacturers' websites, none of them have the MoPho on their compatibility lists. Maybe it's just an oversight, I don't know.
Does anyone out there have a stereo in their car that rocks the Photon? I'm open to suggestions. I see some are out that even have more Android control. Not sure what I'm looking for overall, but I definitely can't stomach becoming an Apple Fanboy. Thanks guys.
Mine is just a basic Sony receiver with BT, USB, and aux port and it works with the photon just fine. On the box it says it was for iphone /iPod and nowhere on the site, manual, or box does it say anything about android or photon. It was on sell at best buy for like 80 bucks from 110.

I just bought and installed a JVC with built-in Bluetooth, and it works great. Can control Pandora through the receiver, and can skip tracks in Google Play Music through the receiver. It also rings through the speakers and shows the caller's number on the receiver's display. I have yet to find anything it says it can do that turns out not to be compatible with the Photon. It was $139.99 on Crutchfield, and they threw in all the installation materials for free (dash kit, wiring harness, antenna adapter, and instructions). Best Buy wanted to charge me WAY too much for all that and installation, so I told them to screw off and did it myself.
Just as others said, any with BT built in should be ok. I didnt want to spend 160 though. I got a jvc w/ front usb and aux. And ipod controller for 90. Im cool with it.

Pioneer AVH-P5200BT DVD Player with Cardock (that I dont use most of the time) Works PERFECT with voice dialing, receiving calls. My only initial problem, I got it installed at BestBuy and it's illegal in PA to drive and watch DVD unless Parking Brake is applied. Quick trip to the hood....The rear player works with it too!!!
This is a tough call if you ask me. The screen is up when I use radio, to make calls, ect. How do you know, expecially if I tilt up some, what I'm doing?
Oh, originally $700.00 but I got off e-bay for $310.00.
