in windows\startmenu\programs the shortcuts are located
if you look at the properties of those programs you have uninstalled you can see where the program is located and you can delete it yourself if you like
Thanks, it seemed to do the trick. By the way, I don't really know how to manage my memory. It seems to be getting used up rather quickly. Is there some way I can move certain programs to a storage card or something to free up memory but still have full function of the software? I'm new to this. Thanks
well when you install the programs it ask you if you want them to install at the default location (that is if you install them using activsync)
if you say no you get the option of installing them to your sdcard
if you want to try it with already installed programs you could try
to move them and change the target in the shortcut
just make sure you recall where you moved them from if it dont work
and you like to move them back to get them working again
After deleting the file I was having problems with from windows I now am getting an error message: Cannot execute/Windows/StartMenu/Programs/IRKeybd.exe
I deleted the file, I thought. How do I fix this. Its messing up my imate.
when do you get that error ?
because if you get it after a softreset there may be a shortcut to it in windows\startup
I get the error all the time. It will come up randomly. There are usually about 14 pop up windows notifying me of the error. I looked for a short cut but don't know if I'm looking in the right place.

The file "xx" cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate...
I keep getting this error whenever I try to open a couple applications, like Navizon, HTC Home Customizer, MS Live Search, and a lot more (but googlemaps and a few work just fine). Anyways I flashed to a DCD 3.0.1 rom I cooked... I added a few apps from the titan kitchen by copying the OEM folders into the DCD OEM folder and it all went pretty fine....
has anyone ever encountered these errors? I think I'm gonna have to cook a clean rom with just the basics and have to install everything one by one again unless someone knows what to do..
I had the exact same problem.
you didn't include the .NET framework in your build.
re-cook with that option selected, and those apps will work.

Did this ever get resolved? I am having the same issue with Garmin and I know I have .net installed
if you are installing to a memory card, try installing to main memory... that worked for me with MusicID
Bump having this issue helpplease
trying to install or try some different Radio cabs I keep getting this error few other programs as well fairly new so I am pretty confused. oh this is is on My Kaiser Tilt though was hoping not to have to start a whole new thread.
getting the same error message
i keep getting the following error message
"The file 'xx' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring this file."
every time i do a soft reset all my installed programs get like this, and i have to reinstall them for them to work. This only happens to the applications i've installed on my own, not the ones that come with the phone.
if there is anyone out there who has a solution, please let me know.

SOLUTION!!!
Most of the cases this is not a CERTIFICATE problem-
if you go to your file explorer and look for the PROGRAM FILES directory you will be surprise -
actually this happens when you install cabs on the storage card - those apps write temp files all the time - so when you take out your SD card - those apps continue writing this temp files -
in the bottom line = go to your device and rename the FOLDER storage card to storage old -
now you will see the icon for your SD CARD next to the name STORAGE CARD 2-
the last thing is to remove the SD CARD an re insert it again - now you will see that it return to its original name (STORAGE CARD) .
enjoy
Thank you mate, same problem here solved with your help

I m not able to rename the storage card to storage old pls help and i m getting the same error message with uzard web browser.

I want to be able to access this app to use it as a level. Want to move it to the Start Menu so I can make a Quick Link out of it. I copied AccelerometerCalibrator.exe from Windows to Start Menu and I get a link, but it does not run the program. Runs from the settings/system menu. No other new processes running with it. Anyone know how to do this? Is there another file that needs to be moved as well?
Yea, please. I'd like to see an answer to this, too...

Hi,
Try creating a shortcut as per this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=645916
The G Sensor calibrator is mentioned 7 or 8 from the top in the first post.
Thanks for the tip!
I had created a link to the G-sensor but was wondering why it would not run by itself. I had not seen that thread with all of the link data. Thanks again for the tip!
I did this just by holding on the icon and selecting Move to Top.
I don't know if this is old news already, but got a sudden urge to get G-Sensor easier place to access. And made it today by copying AccelerometerCalibrator.exe from Windows to Start Menu/Programs as a shortcut. Now it can be found under start menu in UI.
Try this

This is my first post, so apologies if this is in the wrong place or has been asked before (I have searched and found some answers, but none of these worked)
Basically, last night whenever I tried to use an application on my HTC HD2 I was getting the following error message:
"The file xxx cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one if its components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring this file."
In searching for the solution, a lot of people are saying that I need to edit the reistry. (Specifiaclly HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Policies\Policies DWord = 0000101a - Change value from 0 to 1)
I have tried downloading the recommended registry editors on the forums (Resco Explorer etc.) but am unable to install because the "program is from an unknown publisher." I click yes to get pass this initial message, like I always have done in the past, and the following is displayed:
Installation was unseccessful. The program or setting cannot be installed beacause it is not digitally signed with a trusted certificate."
I have also tried using a program recommended called CeRegistryEditor and using my PC via ActiveSync to edit the registry, but am getting an error message "Access Denied!".
Does anybody know any other way of editing the registry? Am I actually doing the right thing? Are there any security settings that I need to disable to allow CeReistryEditor to edit the registry?
This is really bugging me, I have only been without my apps for about 12 hours throughout the night but it is hard to live without them!! I REALLY don't want to perform a hard reset and will do anything to avoid this!
When I get this I just remove evertyhing to do with it on the phone and re download it (the cab file usually) and it seems to work.
thanks for your reply. I have tried this but when I try and reinstall I am getting the message: Installation was unseccessful. The program or setting cannot be installed beacause it is not digitally signed with a trusted certificate.
I think that the security settings have been changed, but I cant see how to change them with editing the registry which I am struggling to do
Can I ask what app you are trying to install? Or is it any app?
Multiple Apps that were running OK yesterday, but not today. I think it is all the apps that I have downloaded from Omarket.... Omarket isnt working either!
Hi,
Any luck on this. I m also facing similar issue after installing Android on my HD2.
I have the exact same issue after running Android from SD card. No application (non-stock ones) are working anymore. Like 3rd party certificates are being blocked or something...
For everyone with this problem, download Mobile Registry Editor and connect your phone to your PC via USB, then start the Editor and go to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Policies\Policies" and search for the DWord "0000101a" and change the decimal to "1", that will fix your problem. This problem happens to me if I "reboot" while in Android instead of turning the phone completely off and then back on.
Edit: Added link to download.
As a side note, I always did this to mine while running Windows Mobile, then booted Android after fixing the registry.
and when this is not possible
Hi,

Hi,
I also have the same issue after loading android from the sd-card. I have also re-installed the stock rom and the problem still persists. Im also unable to install any reg editors as keep getting the "not signed with a trusted certificate".
I read that a cooked rom may be a solution around this but I liked the set up I had and wanted to keep my original rom so any other suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks
Lee
Exactly the same problem.
Non-stock programs not working after failed boot of android from SD card, and I'm unable to change any registry entries either. Practically I'm locked out of my phone, just the basic functions working. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
if forget where I originally found this link (its on xda some place)
http://www.internet-tools.co.uk/blog/wp-content/uploads/2008/11/sda_unlock.zip
but run this first and you no longer get the access denied when using the mobile registry editor , hope it helps.
I have the same problem, just remove the program that was not working, pull out your memory card , then delete the files in the sd card except the application installer, hard reset your phone, and remember to go to SETTINGS-UPDATES&FEEDBACK-ERROR REPORTING-DISABLE ERROR REPORTING, and turn off your phone, put in the memory card and turn your phone on and install the application one by one, the application installed will work as normal, Good Luck, remember to back up your data before hard reset

I have been using S740 for mainly GPS and I was wondering, is there any way to edit the applications that open up at start up?
I have Garmin Mobile XT for this phone so when ever I switch on my phone, I want this application to startup immediately.
I have searched google on how to but it couldn't help me. All I know is that I will have to play a bit with the registry in order to do that. I have Resco explorer with me so anyone can help me out?
Thanks
Application to edit startup : http://www.fewbits.com/startmgr/
You can just use any kind of file explorer and add Garmin's shortcut at the "startup" folder ( \Windows\StartUp )....
The best file explorer I can suggest you is "TotalCommander" : http://www.ghisler.com/smartphone.htm
Good luck
Thanks for the reply, sasiskas. I will try this out tomorrow and post how it performs
Great software, Startup Manager works great. I could add my program easily. Thanks again. But I am facing one problem. The SMS/MMS Window pops up after I switch on my phone. How do I remove that? And also I don't use a sim card for this phone so I also get a notification for SIM Failure at start-up. How do I remove that too?
"tmail.exe" is responsible for your sms/mms window...Try to find it using the program I told you...check everywere(when in the program press "menu"-startup/services/user notification)
As for the sim Failure I don't know...probably you will find it if you look in "menu-user notifications" in the program.
If you can't find anything there...then try downloading SKTools and go to "maintenance-windows startup"
Thanks again, sasiskas. But my ActiveSync says now failed to connect. Due to this I'm unable to install SKTools

what did you edit?
If you go to communication manager-connection there is an option that allows your device to work as a flash drive..do that and then move the sktools.cab file to your device and then from the device execute it.
Does anyone know how to stop the Auto-Run prompt to install drivers whenever you connect a Rezound to a PC? I've already attempted to install the drivers several times. The first time, after installing, the app said I needed to subscribe to additional VZW services, which I declined. But, I was still prompted again. Every subsequent time I allowed the install to run, the installer would hang at some point.
Down load HTC SYNC from the net to your pc and install it on your pc. After installation, uninstall HTC SYNC from the pc. The drivers will be left behind and your pc will stop asking.

I have HTC Sync on my computer now, and I use it. Won't removing it prevent me from sync'ing Outlook with my Rezound?
It is that Verizon virtual drive that pops up in addition to the HTC Storage drive (Internal phone "SD" memory) and the SD Card (External SD Card memory.)
Most every custom ROM around here deletes that thing as part of eliminating Verizon's bloatware; I would suggest deleting the files inside the virtual drive and see if that helps prevent any Autorun of the files. There is probably a tool or guide around here for removing that on the stock ROM.
Edit: Nevermind this technique, as OP said it is a disc image and files cannot be deleted as such.
Go in and rename cdrom.iso I believe it is to .bak, the problem will stop.
There are posts about it, I did it so long ago, one of the first things I did when we got root.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk 2
Because it's setup like a CD-ROM, you cannot simply delete the files, nor can you rename or edit them. I would've simple renamed or edited the Autorun.inf had it been that simple.
Where might one find that .ISO you referred to? I tried looking at the internal and external "storage" spots, but to no avail. This stuff is so irritating; if I don't dismiss that window every time, my CPU on my PC goes into overdrive, kind of like when you leave a dialog box open without answering it.

The file is located at \system\etc\cdrom.iso from root; you can't access that normally so you will need to be rooted in order to delete it manually. There was a bloatware tool that used a temp root exploit on the original firmware of the phone, but the OTA update broke that temp root method. Since the OTA, you must unlock the bootloader to obtain root access.
Assuming you may not want to root your phone just yet around here, so this may be worth a shot. It is a workaround if you are on Windows 7, culled this from a web search so I can't vouch for it, but with that said:
1. Installed the VZ Media Manager. After installation, ran the program once and cancelled all of the updates etc. that it wants to do.
As soon as you plug in the phone, it tries to start the media manager program with verizon.exe but no longer goes to the web site telling you to install the software.
2. Renamed C:\Program Files\Verizon V CAST Media Manager\verizon.exe to verizon.exx
3. Used a scripting program to create a new .exe file named verizon.exe that does nothing but a meaningless set command. ("set noverizon=") and put the .exe file in the programs folder shown above.
Now when I plug in the phone, nothing happens except the Windows run option box comes up - no prompts for anything Verizon. The verizon.exe program still runs, but it does nothing and you never see it.
You could always rename verizon.exe verizon2.exe if you really want to ever run the program.

Just tried this and it seems to be resolving my issues with the popup. However I installed the VMM (Verizon Media Manager) Mode Selector but had not installed vcast yet. Use [Windows Key] + R to invoke the Run dialog. Type in "msconfig" and hit enter. Select the Startup tab. Find the VMM Mode Selector entry and unclick it.

Option 1 sound like the smart way to go. Problem is, for me, the program does not install to begin with, so I have no such folder on my C: drive. I even checked my installed programs in Control Panel to be sure. What a PITA!
On another note, looks like I now have even bigger fish to fry. See here:

What really sucks is that I finally resolved all my multiple e-mail account issues, and everything, only to find I will now have to setup a new phone all over again!
