same place as most other things in this world of ours

in windows\startmenu\programs the shortcuts are located
if you look at the properties of those programs you have uninstalled you can see where the program is located and you can delete it yourself if you like
Thanks, it seemed to do the trick. By the way, I don't really know how to manage my memory. It seems to be getting used up rather quickly. Is there some way I can move certain programs to a storage card or something to free up memory but still have full function of the software? I'm new to this. Thanks
well when you install the programs it ask you if you want them to install at the default location (that is if you install them using activsync)
if you say no you get the option of installing them to your sdcard
if you want to try it with already installed programs you could try
to move them and change the target in the shortcut
just make sure you recall where you moved them from if it dont work
and you like to move them back to get them working again
After deleting the file I was having problems with from windows I now am getting an error message: Cannot execute/Windows/StartMenu/Programs/IRKeybd.exe
I deleted the file, I thought. How do I fix this. Its messing up my imate.
when do you get that error ?
because if you get it after a softreset there may be a shortcut to it in windows\startup
I get the error all the time. It will come up randomly. There are usually about 14 pop up windows notifying me of the error. I looked for a short cut but don't know if I'm looking in the right place.
i found this in the Kaiser Forum, i tried it and im loving it, for me a little easier and for me then user customization (uc), much more user friendly for me. restores all my settings, email setting, speed dials, i can select were to install cab automatically (storage or main), i can run it at anytime, not just at boot up

Works on my Touch Pro just fine. Indagroove has a ROM for the touch pro & the diamond that is sashimi compliant. Install the ROM, install sashimi, reboot & off you go!
ROMs don't need to be SASHIMI compliant. You set it up on your SD card and just launch it directly from there. It'll automatically set up anything you have configured. It' a brilliant service! And it deserves a link to the official site/thread, too:

Be sure to watch the videos - they show you exactly how to do your initial setup.
Any one has al ink to that app or can e-mail it to me?

Essential for me. I wouldn't flash as much as I do if it wasn't for that. I donated for that app.

Isn't this forbidden by the mod/owner?
Since I can't find Sashimi anywhere, is there an alternative stand-alone solution to CABs multi-installs?
I attached SASHIMI for you. I am using it for more than a year now and if/when you set it up for your taste you can automate almost everything after a new ROM flash
Or just try UC Net. It is better as Sashimi and works also on new ROM's.
Sashimi better than other customization systems
Though Sashimi stopped development I can say it is the best!!
I think people did not give time to understand the way its files work and thats why they prefer other systems that do the half work.
Other systems donot put folders or files in any device directory, they dont install mortscripts, they donot add whole files to documents folder they dont execute .reg files and makisu xml with email and wifi settings.
I wrote these lines just to tell that Bengalin did a clever brilliant job though it did not widely adapted from the phone communities.
Maybe, if people want to try it, I will write a tutorial for its basic functions and maybe Bengalin is going to come again with a new version.

The above mentioned program does all this you mentioned, plus creates automatically shortcuts individuallt or from whole folders just with a simple text file command, moves or deletes files etc etc. You can also create numbered folders with files, exes, mscrs, reg etc, which are processed one after the other. At the beginning you can choose what folders should be processed. The only thing i miss from Sashimi is the resume feature, but as it never fails during installation i really don't need it.

There is a resume feature in Sashimi. If the installation fails at some point and you restart the device and run sashimi again, then it asks you to resume or not.
Also there is no need for text file command for adding a shortcut. You just copy your tree in the root folder of auto sashimi and then the file or shortcut appears where you want it.For example, if you want to add a shortcut in start menu you copy the tree in auto sashimi root folder like this:Windows/Start Menu/Programs/Games/BubbleBreaker.lnk
But how you move or delete files?

Let's pretend I'm new to windows mobile. (I am). Can anyone tell me HOW I get to these HKEY directories that everything is edited in. If anyone could give me a step-by-step instruction on how to install or modify anything at all in the phone, I would greatly appreciate it.
Please start the steps right after the 'Turn on phone' step, as I am fairly confident I have that under control. Every time I've asked this question on other forums I just get links to different forums with no helpful information below a certain level of expertise. I have never coded or done anything other than drag and drop folders, etc so a dumbed down version of how to start and I can learn from there. Anything! PLEASE!!! I hate having this amazing machine and not being able to utilize it.
oh, Touch Pro, sprint
First you need to install a registry editor. The two most used are PHM (free http://www.phm.lu/Products/PocketPC/RegEdit/) or Resco Explorer (paid http://www.resco.net/pocketpc/explorer/). I prefer Resco, but everyone has their own pref.
And installation, you fire it up and simply navigate it to your registry. Pretty straightforward.
I downloaded the free one but it isn't showing up in my phone. I navigated to its folder on my pc and everything seems to be zipped. when I unzip the file extensions are *.001 and I can't open or access them. am I doing something wrong ?
also, if anyone can explain to me how to install .net framework ?

i assume you need the new 3.5 .net compact framework.
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...49-3c6b-42f1-9fd9-0041345b3385&displaylang=en
You simply download and install the file on your computer (not your mobile device). This file will install the framework on your computer and will activate the add/remove programs on the sync center, so the next time you connect your touch pro it will ask to install the program. Then you just follow any instructions displayed on your touch pro for final installation and you're set to go!
here's on .Net http://www.fuzemobility.com/?p=470
It has an extra app to choose a default .Net.
There's also a Tips and Tricks section and a walk through for TouchFlo3D at fuzemobility.com that you may want to try.
I can relate to this problem.

I have a Alltel HTC Touch Pro. The software that came with it does not work with Vista. I googled active sync for Vista, I got links to Windows Mobile Device Center. I installed that onto my desktop. It syncs my phone to my desktop, but only shows my device memory and the storage card. I have installed downloaded and installed net.frame. When I downloaded Advanced Config Tool and draged and drop (also copied & pasted) into the device memory and tried to click the cab. file it only shows that it will go to the c: drive on my desktop. I do not see anything showing for the windows on my device. Hopefully someone can post some useful infomation about this. Yes I did use search, that lead me here. There are lots of complete noobs. Before we can add useful information for others. ( like showing off the really cool function of these new phones we have to be able to use them ourselves. Thanks for any help.
Here's some tips that might help you:
When plugging your Touch Pro into your PC via USB, you should be prompted on the Touch Pro whether you want to connect as "ActiveSync" or "Disk Drive". You should click "ActiveSync" for installing applications.
If you are using your desktop PC and download an application for your Touch Pro, it will typically be .exe or .cab. The .exe files are intended to run on your desktop PC first, and will then trigger an installation to your Touch Pro through ActiveSync (Windows XP) or Windows Mobile Device Center (Windows Vista).
If the file is a .cab, it is intended to run on your Touch Pro directly and will install the program. To move a .cab to your Touch Pro, you use the explore feature in ActiveSync (or similar feature in Mobile Device Center), and drag and drop. (Alternatively, you can download .cab files directly onto your phone from the source website using the Opera web browser). Once the .cab is on your Touch Pro, you use the file explorer program on your phone to naviagte to the file and then execute it.
When you install programs onto your TouchPro, a dialogue appears on the phone to walk you through the installation. To save your phone's shared memory, you can install programs to your memory card. Unfortunately, some applications work best when installed onto the phone versus installing them onto the memory card.
Hope that helps
Thank you very much for your reply. I'll give this another try. I had the Alltel HTV Touch Flo awhile back and was running XP on the desktop. If I remember correctly, I saw my device in the tree layout with the software running XP. I gave the Touch Flo to a family member and got a BlackBerry Curve. Wanted to go back to a windows platform for the versitilty of programs. I know everything has a learning curve to it. With lots of reading and study, trial and error, and help from generous people here. Noobs like myself can get a lot more use and enjoyment from their devices. Each new version that comes out is getting faster, more powerful, and has more features. Others see these things that we have and want one. It would be helpful if we could help them to see all the possibilities that are there. The I Phone gets a lot of attention with commercials and has opened up for new apps being developed. There are as many, if not more apps for widows. We just have to learn to implement them with our device. I know I did not start this thread, but others can see the original posters title and understand their, and my question. Thanks again to the reply, and to anyone else who comes up with more help for the noobs.
I did this basic setup for my woot acquired GTAB. The primary reason was to keep the stock ROM but get the fully functional Android Market. I wanted to give these instructions out to real newbies who may want to do the bare minimum to keep their TAB up and running with all apps and without doing a flash with custom ROM. I wanted to include a more step by step for people who are less tech savvy so please bear with the details if you are a tech guy.
1. Get the Over The Air update to update to 3588. The OTA push happens automatically if you have connectivity (wifi is setup). You can also check it via the updates app that should have come with the stock ROM.
2. Download the enhancement pack - TnT Enhancement Pack v3.1.4b file from http://www.megaupload.com/?d=74HGJNEL to your desktop or laptop. The file name should be TnT_Enhancement_3389_v3_1_4b.rar
3. Try opening the file using winzip or any zip program. If it doesn't install winrar version available at http://www.win-rar.com/download.html.
4. Extract contents to a local folder on your computer using the zip/ winrar program. It has files update.zip, a recover folder that contains a command file
5. Connect your TAB to the computer with the min-usb cable and activate the usb transfer (I think it comes up with that option)
6. GTAB should show up as another drive in your system. With windows explorer browse this drive to locate the "sdcard" folder.
7. Copy the update.zip and recover (containing command file) folder from the location you extracted on your computer (step 4) into the sdcard folder identified on step 6.
8. Power off
9. Power on by pressing and holding the volume + button and the power button simultaneously.
10. The TAB should show a open box screen in a few seconds and after some time should turn back on to the main screen with new apps installed. You should see the market apps icon as well
11. Do the market fix remedy to see all applications in the market by steps below. I added an alternate market fix (if you don't see all apps)
a) Run market
b) Open settings->applications->system applications
c) Force close Google Services Framework, then Force Close Market
d Go back to Google Services Framework, then clear data
e) Run market and confirm you get an error
f) Reboot
g) Wait 2 minutes and try Market to get all applications
h) If this doesn't work, look at the directions again and make sure you follow them exactly
Alternate market fix Steps - I haven't tested this but looks like a few extra steps (You need Titanium Backup installed and have opened Market and surfed around a bit. Thanks to blackjaguar who pointed to this)
1. Settings->Applications->System applications->Market then Clear Cache (if any) then Force Stop
2. Go back one and then Google Services Framework then clear data then Force Stop
3. Go to home and open Titanium Backup
4. Select Backup/Restore tab
5. Select Google Services Framework
6. Select Wipe Data
7. Go to home and open market (it will error and close)
8. Reboot your tablet
9. Open Market and you will have full market
The above steps are detailed in another thread

I just got my gtab from woot and basically wanted the same thing you did: the stock gtab plus the market. I followed your directions after spending the last week reading the massive amounts of posts on this forum. The only thing I did differently was installing CWM between steps 1 and 2, and repartitioning to the recommended 2048/0. It seemed like most people end up having to do that at some point. Your market fix however, didn't work at all for me. There's another fix posted by tsm26 that worked great for me. Its slightly different:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12563333&postcount=4400
The only app I still can't find in the market is Firefox, but luckily its available from ftp.mozilla.org.
EDIT: Just got the acore process problem, and had no contacts or /data/data folder at all. Used this fix and the problem is gone. Looks like it works for TnT Enhanced as well:

I am going to update this with alternate market fix for anyone who is interested. Thanks.
Step 6 confused?
Just received my gtab and following your steps to install this upgrade, however after connecting gtab to laptop I see 4 folders at the root of "E:" when browsing through windows. I assume that "E:" is the sdcard directory and these folders are located in it. The folders I can see in this directory under the windows "E:" drive are - .android_secure, Android, DCIM & LOST.DIR. However if I browse to the "sdcard" folder using the file explorer on my gtab I don't see the .android_secure folder, but do see a folder called "update.zip", that I don't see when browsing the "E:" drive in windows. Now I am really confused? Do I delete or rename the "update.zip" directory currently residing in the "sdcard" directory on the gtab and then copy over the recover and update.zip folders that I just downloaded?
My tap ui version is 1.1-3389.
Are there any suggestions?
I think you need to disable the USB sharing and you will see the files.
This worked like a charm. I decided not to root and mod, at least for now, so getting the market is great. I didn't show the sdcard directory, but I had update and an empty recovery directory, so I just replaced them (after copying the old update.zip). It wiped out the photos and videos apps on my main screen, but I found some interesting replacements. And the market fix worked great too.
But I still can't find Words With Friends... Just checked the market from my laptop and it thinks it's not compatible with my device. Oh well.
I followed the instructions to the T and the market wont work... someone please help!!!!!
The first set of instructions did not work for me, but the alternate set did work. I now appear to have a full market. Awesome!
Just for the record, I am running the stock ROM updated to the latest VS release.
EDIT: Whoops, spoke too soon. No apps will download from the Market. When I try to download a free app, I get a "Starting download..." message but that's it. I'm also doing this at work... I think port 5228 might be blocked. Is this the reason? I will attempt from home tonight...
Help!

I've gotten to this point, but how long is some time, it has never turned back on to the main screen and now really won't boot at all, just goes to a blank screen and sit there.
Any ideas? Any help would be appreciated! Hope I haven't done something terribly wrong!
Spoke too soon?
Maybe I spoke too soon. Doing the market fix got me a lot more on the market, but there's still a lot of apps that I can't get. So many devs put their apps in market and nowhere else. Don't they realize that this is not itunes? (BTW, I've hit web sites that send me to itunes to download their apps...) How many other devices has google not approved for the market and are stuck like this? Even Firefox is undownloadable on my Android. Is that really the market fix or should I be able to access more?
So frustrating, but finally something seems to work
OK, new theory. Apparently I had to do the market fix twice. I also followed the video on this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9817939&postcount=17
That's not the gtab, so it looks a little different in the menus, but the steps still worked. I guess it threw in an extra step of clearing cache on market and force stopping it before stopping google services framework. Well, Firefox doesn't show up in market, but so far everything else does. Now I have to try to remember everything I've been trying to download.
I had to do the Market fix twice, but that was no sweat.
Perfect, gunajay; thank you very much for your concise directions.

Everything is working great using this Enhancement Pack and Market Fix. My question is whether my gTab is still considered stock with these changes? The forum messages about the new firmware update all caution against applying it if you are running an alternate firmware from 3588. I don't know if I am under the Enhancement Pack and Market Fix scenario or not.

Hello all, found this post and as a complete newbie I was excited to see what the GTAB could be transformed into. Not quite ready for custom ROMS so I figured I'd start with Clockworkmod and trying to install the standard android market.
Problem is when I hook up my gtab I don't see an "sdcard" folder... Anybody have any ideas why that would be? How do I work around it?
I have the following folders:
.android_secure
Android
clockworkmod
DCIM
download
kindle
LOST.DIR
Master
Music
Photos
recovery
Videos
update.rar
Thanks in advance for your help!
Will this work with 4349?
Does anyone know if gunajay's instructions will work with with Stock 4349 and Market?

Hello Forum,
Usually when you tap a link or document for the first time on a new device, you are presented with an list giving you the option to make one of the apps on the device the default app to open the link or document from now on.
In my case I just get a generic Android system error with a "report" button.
I solved the opening a link problem by using the option in Firefox to make it the default app.
However, for documents and anything else that may come my way, will crash instead of getting the familiar menu option mentioned above.
Any ideas, please?
Possibly an option that is turned on or off in system?
This is a stock ROM direct from Xiaomi. MIUI 10.1 Stable.
Thanks in advance.
I am using Solid Explorer file manager, there's such menu like you mentioned.
