Notes missing? - MDA, XDA, 1010 General

I upgraded to the latest official ROM on the o2 site (3.17.03) and now my notes are missing. Anyone know why?

RE: Notes missing
I had the same problem. It is there in \windows\notes.exe (or something) so you just have to make a link in \windows\start menu\programs\ for it. I did this while browsing the XDA with my PC, same as making any other shortcut (right click and drag from 1->2).
Hope that helps

identifying received sms

Hi guys, I am very proud of my new xda, however I could not identify who sent me the sms messages since it does not show the senders names unlike other mobile phones, we cant search by phone numbers too I live in the Philippines where sms is part of our lives! Please help me Thanks in advance
Download the cab-file from the following link, copy it onto your XDA and execute (doubble-click) it. That's all
http://www.mywirelessoffice.com/xda/sms_fix.cab
there is a free utility from paragon software to show names on sms, however it works only for the list view && received sms
take a look at penreader.com, it's lying there somewhere
ROKO: is it the same? mine is called sms_names.ppc.arm.cab I think, does it fix sent items etc...?

I don't know. You could compare the two by looking into the cab files using WinZip. I wouldn't worry too much about it, there are more way's of doing the same thing.

That's funny, I was wondering why I was getting more traffic on that site lately...
The copy I have may not be the most current, though it does seem to work fine. It was not an official release. I can't recall the URL for the official release, but I know you can find it in Google.

Hi, I've followed this subject word for word, but my XDA keeps telling me theres no file associated with the three files you get when you unzip the downloaded file?? can you help?

AWSOME new software for wm5/wm6 phones (FREE)

hey guys i just stumbled into a nice new(launched 1-1-08) program called Pointui it's a skin program for wm5 & wm6 phones. i am running it right now on my wing and i love the damn thing. but don't take my word for it check out what JASON CHEN from Gismondo had to say about it :http://gizmodo.com/339835/pointui-s...it-usable-best-wm-skin-app-ever?autoplay=true . btw guys i am in now way whatsoever affiliated to whoever made the program, i've learned so many things about my wing from this site that i just wanted to give everyone a heads up. again the program it totally free with absolutley no hoops to jump through.
btw the program has to be installed through activesync ( just so u know) also the link to the website it at the bottom of the review.
and here the homepage:
http://www.pointui.com/
and the .cab for installing
Very nice indeed, I used it for 3/4 days and got sick of
the non-costumizable look. I subscribed to their forum,
a LOT of people want it to be costumizable, so I
think i'll wait for the next release.
I quote from PoitUI Forum:
The Dutchman said:
-Today screen Plug-in, just can't miss batteryStatus, quicklaunch and WLM.
-Graphic costomizer of course
-Inversing the up/down sliding
-At the right top, a CLOSE button when running an app
-When pressing e.g. WiFi in top, then activating it.
-Removal of Operator name
-when one want's to go to programs-->games (or whatever secondary
or third or fourth folder) not having to press (select) it, but slide on it to
the left to go to its content
But after all, KUDO'S 8)

There is one problem for all these today-good-lokking-interface-programms = they are working with windows apps.
but like pointui - all is finally redirected to the crappy winmobile software - when wiritng sms or anything else.
comming there, can be very nice - cube, pointui, spbmobile shell --> but at the end we stop there where we could get by
-->
pressing - start-programms-messaging
Help me...

There is no .exe (and there is no cake).
To install a .cab file on your device you just copy the .cab on the device and then run the .cab.
got it

I tried this out yesterday, it's pretty neat. My only 2 complaints are a lack of task manager and it eats up A LOT of battery. I uninstalled it.

I already do that without this....... "APP" lol.
Save m.google.com/voice to your IE bookmarks, then, if you're using manila add a quick link under the Browser tab.
one tap ('cause we ain't really clicking anything here) will get you directly to your GV inbox via Opera 9.5.
I've been really looking for a real GV app, and the closest your can get right now (IMO) is iDialer.

does this delete the existing outlook email accounts ?
That's what I wonder too, also it would be great to know how it works on 6.1, I've read a few posts in other forums and it seems it runs fine on 6.1 but why have microsoft blocked it for 6.1 and only given 6.5 users the option to download it... There must be a reason behind it...
I'll give it a whirl on install on a 6.1 emulator.

Did the beta change anything for anyone in outlook? supposed to enable "conversation view", but not on my Touch Pro 2 with WM 6.5?
It didn't change anything with Outlook at all. Just installed 2010 versions of Word, Excel, oneNote and PPT, as well as Sharepoint Workspace Mobile (which doesn't launch for me).
can this be installed in Storage Card? or is it better to install it in main memory?

What is Share Point Workspace? Clicking on it does not open anything for me.
OEM made but toolbar icons gone
Just cooked my first ROM with neokit and used ervius package creator to make OEMs.. If I install Office 2010 from a cab all is fine (except sharepoint doesnt open, no change to outlook, but word, excel and powerpoint work fine), my problem is if I make it an OEM, Neokit tells me there is a problem with GDIplus.dll and mcf.dll because they're folders.. so I went to the folders and manually added the 2 files and removed them from the OEM, now it imports fine into Neokit.. but after flashing, there are no icons on the toolbars in Word etc, the toolbar is there and items are selectable but the icons are completely blank.. What am I doing wrong? Im new to cooking.. perhaps someone can upload their OEM in English for me to try please
Edit: Solved it.. I think the problem was my kitchen was having trouble replacing the old GDIplus.dll and mcf.dll files but I think I removed some other files accidentally also the first time
I can`t install in the external memory from my diamond the programm only wanna install into the main memory someone know why this is happen?
It appears that the new Powerpoint and Sharepoint are not compatible with WM6.1 - 'not a valid PocketPC application'. Excel and Word are running fine...
I ran dependency walker and it seems GPSVC.dll and IESHIMS.dll are missing from my ROM so that may be why Powerpoint and Sharepoint do not work.
works cool. i had the office mobile that came with the new ROm in put in. what difference does this one have ? the waorkspace thingy didnt work on mine. any reasons for that ?

Polaris Office Can't Create New Documents

After the ICS update, I noticed that my polaris office's new file/new folder buttons are now gone. I can still open files but i can't create new ones. Does anyone else have this problem?

ME too....only, I didn't realize that we were supposed to be able to create docs....thought only read them
It is clearly a bug. I have found a simple workaround. Start Polaris, then find any Polaris-compatible document in your storage (I use a small PDF file) and open it. Press "back" to close. Now the button to open a new document magically appears at the top.
