m1000 rom? - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 ROM Development

Hey guys,
I just got my XDA II and I would like to try the Orange m1000 rom.
Is there anybody that does have an UK version of the Orange m1000 rom?
Thanks
Panja

The ROM i refer to in my previous post on the Danish Orange ROM is entirely in English - except for a GPRS default setting pointing to a Danish gateway. You can easily change that.
It can be downloaded freely from Orange in Denmark.

Michael

Alas NOPE!
It can't ('out of the box/from the download') be used to update an O2 XDA2 though, because it fails the country check instantly.
As I just tried exactly these things when you posted earlier this morning mate (UK time).
I tried to run the M1000 Denmark (english language) ROM update, on my UK O2 XDA2 today.
It fails straightaway - "Invalid Country".
Not sure if you can hack it or something to allow this, but it's certainly not something I would know how to do, or feel confident trying.

have you tried chancing your country in the local settings before the upgrade ?
you could always change it back

Thanks for the replies guys!!
So what do I need to do to upgrade to the m1000 rom?
Cheers
Panja

if you can get around the country thing then you need
a cradle and the upgrade exe file

Rudegar,
No mate - the country code issue has nothing to do with user set values/user defined regional settings.
It is something hardcoded into the device ROM to identify its country.
It can't be user changed.
It is a hardware check made when starting a ROM Upgrade.
Pity though.

what if you change the exe file to zip and take out the nbf file ?
and install it bootloaderwise ?
would it not work then ?

Er, run that by me in Swahili, as English just lost me...
Nah, seriously mate, I have a basic idea of what that means, but can you be more gentle with me and give me more details?

well if the exe file is an install file
then it's really a selfunpacking zip file
and if you change it from
WHATEVERNAME.exe to WHATEVERNAME.zip
you can unzip the nbf file from inside the zip
and you can use the xdatools to flash the nbf file to a sd card
and upgrade your device from the bootloader
at least thats how you do it on the xda1

Some interesting things on the T-Mobile 1.60 update software

I tried the T-Mobile 1.60 rom on my O2 xda2.
It works perfectly with my xda2.
However, I found some interest thing on the new rom upgrade process
1. It seems XDA2 (or HTC Himalaya) use one single program for RAIDO / Extended Rom / OS Rom update. It seems Radio upgrade failure may no longer case device failure, because the RADIO upgrade process is same as OS upgrade process, and not required to copy the whole software into the RAM to upgrade.
2. Sinces some of us (and my XDA2) report that the exteneded rom is READ ONLY, but the upgrade program can update the extended rom. That means the Exteneded rom is not REALLY read only, but somewhere locked it. More funny is , it is seems the Main OS rom is not controlling the exteneded rom is locked or not, because after I updated the extended rom, it is still locked.
3. If O2 XDA2 can use T-Mobile MDA2 update, it seems the upgrade software no longer check the header of the device (At lease this version won't). I think we can use it to change device's language. However I don't know how to dump the rom in .nbf format, is that possible to convert the nb1 format to nbf format?
Thanks.
Hi killercheung...
where are you find the 1.60 rom ?
and the radio what version is ?
Can you put it in my ftp pls ?
it's always on
ftp://dgmatic.com
user: xda
pass: xda
port: 21
...like this we can have it all
Thanks in advance

I asked here for you, hopefully it will be available for everyone soon:

killercheung, thanks for that... I'm still deciding whether to apply the new rom to my UK XDA II.... is the language of the rom netherlands? or can I have it all in english as it is with the normal O2 rom?
Do we lose anything from the o2 rom/extended rom ?
I'm wondering if O2 do bring an upgrade out if we'll be able to still use it if we've tried this t-mobile 1.60 rom.... hmmmmm
hmmm decisions decisions... do you think its much better than the current o2 rom?
Now that I have moved to the 1.60 rom, I must say there's ONE thing I DO miss ....
My O2 BUBBLES ARE GONE FROM MY ASIAN O2.
(I obviously knew this could happen, but thought I'd made a backup of my extended ROM (I DID, but I accidentally tossed it a few days ago) . Who would be so kind as to send me a copy of the O2.cab file from the extended rom, so that I can put the bubbles back into my dialer ...)

Hi Killercheung,
You've missed out something ... the EXE file can be unzipped (using Winrar) ... you will then see the same upgrade.exe files, nbf files (3 of them) ... you can then deleted the ms_.nbf so that only the CORE ROM and RADIO is updated, and keep all O2 EXTENDED_ROM content untouch.
You can also use the same method to upgrade to Chinese ...

Good news about the T-Mobile ROM. I don't know what they have fixed/patched, but my O2 XDA II ROM never bothered to disconnect the GPRS connection after having spent some time online, not after surfing, not after checking e-mail. Mind you the T-moblile ROM doesn't either, except ....... when checking e-mail, which in my eyes is quite important.
So now I can go back to have my XDA check my e-mail once per hour, knowing that it will disconnect automatically.
(And Satria, thanks for sending me my bubbles

Hi,
Just one question. Did any of you that make the update testet with the bluetooth GPS?

For NBF, you can use XDAtools to capture the Chinese ROM, I did once with the English ROM and the file size is exactly the same as the one in 1.60 update. So there should have no missing bytes in the saved file.
For the EXTENDED_ROM, no idea how to save in NBF format ..
I have installed the update but TomTom doesnt see the serial ports 4/5.
@axbl
Hi, What do you think about the update? It´s mutch better than before?
You say "TomTom doesnt see the serial ports 4/5."
Have you installd Towa solution?

yikes...... did that happen on the old rom as well or did gprs stay connected on the original rom?
I hate the way gprs disconnects on devices.. it's supposed to be always on, and I'd really prefer if it stayed on during suspend etc so that MSN could stay connected, notifying me when I got a message....
Email checking likewise, I'd prefer gprs remained always connected and it'd check email in the background whether off or on, notifying me when it got a new mail.
I can't check the behaviour of my xda II since Im on "roaming" at the moment in another country so no gprs
but can anyone say for sure which way the old vs new rom work in this regard?
I did some research on the upgrade process, and fileformats:

XDA II Languages

I have a new O2 German and I want to change the lenaguage to English.
Please, how to do this?
It is possible to load MDA English ROM to German XDA?
Try this:
Works only for upgrade from O2 (any version) to Dangaard (Qtek) 1.60
1. Download the Dangaard ROM image @ http://goztreh.free.fr/eng.exe
2. Extract this file with Winzip to a new folder
3. Extract the attached file to the same folder
4. Start the conversion and upgrade by double-clicking convert.bat
Grtz,
Jos
do not do the dangard one
do the dutch upgrade, is perfect, you will find it here on the web, its from t-mobile nl. and everything is in english. super super quality. I hear of problems with the dangard one. Second reason for doiing the duth/english one is its perfect for further upgrades, no country problems
forgot to tell you
I have an german mda, and did the english upgrade, went back to german, and back to english, no problemo
How to do this?
I made all you said and nothing happen in XDA
I had extracted 2 files to a new folder, execute convert, accept in the black screen, an one of the files in PC were deleted.
And I can detec any change in my XDA., How to know it?
And after, what I need to do to change the language?
Did you first download the English rom from the site mentioned?
If you download it, you get a file called eng.exe.
You have to extract this file with Winzip in a new folder (make sure you have Winzip installed, right-click on the file eng.zip and choose Winzip->Extract to folder...
This should give you 6 files.
Extract the file "Upgrade O2 to DANG16021.zip" to the same folder.
Go to this folder and doubleclick convert.bat.
You get some messages of the ROM being converted, and the upgrade process starts.
What you are doing is putting a new English ROM in the XDA.
The old one is overwritten and all data is lost. So make a copy of the My Documents folder of your XDA (a backup is useless, since you can't do a restore on the new version from an older one).
Grtz,
Jos
Problems upgrqading
Thanks to Jos for the detailed information.
I did all you say, execute CONVERT with the 6 files in the same directory, the box CHECKING THE INFORMATION IN YOUR POCKET PC.... starts, but after lon time I receive the message ERROR 101: CONNECTION ERROR.
The xda is connected and working the activeSync Without problems, but the software says is disconnected!
Make shure the XDA is connected directly to your PC. Don't use an USB hub.
Once you ran CONVERT, you don't need it anymore. Just run HimaUpgradeUt.exe directly.
GER to ITA
I have a new MDA2 German and I want to change the lenaguage to Italian.
Please, how to do this?
You need to get an Italian ROM, but I have no idea where to find it.
And please, just post to one discussion and not to three with the same question...
Connection settings
Ok, I have connected directley the USB port.
It is necessary to have ActiveSync installed? And running?
How to set the xda? Any special mode (bootloader, etc)?
I have active sync installed. Just insert the XDA, wait until the sync is finished and run HimaUpgradeUt.exe.
Thanks
Thanks JOS for posting,
I have the same problem.
I have Just received an O2 XDA from Germany in German Language...I'll do your suggestion...
My question is: wich differents between O2 XDAII Rom Version 4.20.1081 and the Dangaard (Qtek) 1.60 you suggest ?
Thanks in advance.
Francesco
and 2° question...
There will be problems or incompatibility installing Daangard Qteq 1.60 on The O2 XDAII with the future Downloads Xda II ROM upgrade
coming in early 2004.
http://www.xda-2.co.uk/downloads/xda2_upgrade.html
Thank you.
Francesco
then you can just backup the rom you have before updating
and then change back to the back'd up rom before you update to the later rom
Great!!!
It worked fine...!!!
In 40 minutes I have got my new english rom image...
Thank you Jos.
Francesco
Can anybody help a poor newbie MDA II user?
Hi everybody! I'm from Italy. Yesterday evening i finally received the MDA II from Germany. It has equipped with:
ROM VERSION: 1.60.00GER
RADIO VERSION: 1.06.01
EXTROM VERSION: 1.60.07
As i can't speak nor understand german language quite well, i started to improve my knowledge in how to change German to English idiom from several days. I downloaded from the forum the ROM version from NL (RUU16006WWE_T-mobile_NL) that should use the english language. By the way... an italian ROM version doesn't exist...? I don't want to do mistakes that could compromize the life of my MDA II, so please, please, please, give me a hand teaching me how to start the upgrading (i.e. before the upgrading, have i to put the MDA II on its cradle and connect to the PC, etc, etc...).
Forgive me, i'm quite less than a newbie  but i learn quickly!
Many thanks to everybody who will help me... and to whole community of course: you are the best!

Missing stuff in the italian 1.72 rom

Hi
I just installed my 1.72 Italian Rom and i see that there is a lot of stuff missing (videoMMS, the ClearView applications and much more...)
I would like to go back to the english rom but the phone now gives me the typical "Language ID" problem and, as i am not a genius with this things, i would like to know
1) is it possible to install just the missing applications, and if yes, can you redirectme on where to download .cab files for them ?
2) Is there an easier way to get rid of the Language problem ?
Thank you guys
Barabba
Could you tell me which English ROM you want to go to?
Is it a language problem or a country code problem.
If you have the other upgrades where you want the cabs from, you can extract them with ER2003Edit.
- I think DCS's solution http://wiki.xda-developers.com/wiki/HimalayaRomFlashing has helped most people with country codes.
- Haven't tried but according to the author of ER2003Edit, you can change the operator of the upgrade with ER2003Edit to the one you have now on your xdaII and it shouldn't give country code errors anymore.
- There is a HIMAUpgradeUT.exe around which doesn't verify the country code, but I haven't tried it. and it doesn't always work, or gives you problems with your next update. I don't know much of this, but i thought i should mention it.
Maybe read http://wiki.xda-developers.com/wiki/HimalayaRomkitchen about composing your own upgrade out of several upgrades.
Also O2UK has a kind of test in the setups of extra progs, to test if it's really an O2 1.72 . Again I don't know much about this but i thought i should mention it. Edsub is/was trying to get around this.
thank you for your help,
i solved the problem, for the moment, downloading the
Extended_ROM_1[1].72.184GER_One_AT.zip
from another post in this forum.. it was holding the cab files for the missing applications...
Damn... i really don't like this Italian Version (i am used to the english texts.... and the translation is poor)...

Looking for "ORIGINAL ORANGE UK ROM - M3100"

All,

If you flash with this All Connections/GPRS/ etc dont work, have tied setting up the comms settings from info available on the web.... no luck.
Only option is to reinstate the original ROM, anyone know were I can download this. Orange site has no link....

is it here?

Nope.... this is the Romanian ROM, need UK ROM ...
I Manage To Get My Orange Settings To Work On Any Rom.
Just Follow These Instructions. Hope They Help Their Not Formatted Just Copied And Pasted Of The Web.

As far as I know, only the Romanian one is available.
I'm using the Romanian Orange ROM in the UK on my M3100 (believe it or not, it's the only one I've tried where everything works perfectly - if a little slower than I'd like).
I've got a T-Mobile SIM in mine, and to get the data connections working I had to remove all of the preinstalled Orange connections from the Settings menu, then I used a registry editor to delete all the remaining Orange connection bits which I think were in "HKCU\Comm\RasBook".
Once you've done that, try entering the Orange UK settings manually (as provided by mousey), and it should work?
Also Orange UK Have Never Released An Update To Their Shipped Roms So That Means Theres No Upgrade Tool And Therfore You Won't Be Able To Flash Your Device With A UK Orange Rom.
Cheers
This is the same for a UK tmobile rom...there is no offical release so you will not be able to roll back to your shipping uk rom.

this should be the UK ROM:
http://rapidshare.com/files/17338987/HER_ORRO_123702_1060400_WWE_SHIP.exe
Recently I had to return a Hermes to Orange and I used the components from this to restore my device to their OS etc.
if for whatever reason that turns out not to be the UK one (it should) then I have it on my computer and can send it to you somehow.

I've finally managed to get WM6 on my 3100
However took the opportunity to dump the rom I was using before hand just in case...
This rom was the rom the phone was shipped with (UK SPV m3100), however I had used pof's v2 unlocker when I first got it to unlock it, would this have modified to rom in anyway? Or just the radio rom?
So I have a (what I believe to be) a UK m3100, I have a Part02.raw (written with no errors) if anyone would like to reconstruct it.

New Orange France Rom for SPV 3100

Hi everybody,
Some of us were expecting this for a long time, here it is:

Well, it disappeared now, but I succeed loading it before...
If it doesn't come back within a few days, can someone tell me how to put it somewhere in the wiki?
It's a 2.11.73.1 rom...

Impossible to update.
My M3100 is Super CID and the Orange update utility tells me that it can't communicate with the phone and to check the cable ( my phone is in Bootloader mode).
Any solution ?
Extract the NBH and upgrade using the latest CustomRUU.
How am I supposed to do that ?
Sorry, but I'm a beginner in upgrading ;-)
1. Open The .exe With Winrar.
2. Extract The .nbh File To A Folder On Your Computer.
3. Download The Latest CustomRUU And Place It In The Same Folder As Your .nbh File.
4. Run The CustomRUU.
5. Follow The Steps To Upgrade Your Phone

Thanks a lot !
It's working now.
Edge icon is now available with this new ROM !
Radio Rom version?
Can someone who's installed this Rom confirm the radio rom version. The Wiki says 1.38.00.01, which I'm guessing may be a typo and should perhaps be 1.38.00.10. Having been messing around with all of the available radio roms and seeing all of the different comments from people about the same roms, it seems likely that different radios work best on different networks, so I'm curious about which one Orange France has chosen to ship - I want to check out how it works in the UK on Orange.
