Hi
I just installed my 1.72 Italian Rom and i see that there is a lot of stuff missing (videoMMS, the ClearView applications and much more...)
I would like to go back to the english rom but the phone now gives me the typical "Language ID" problem and, as i am not a genius with this things, i would like to know
1) is it possible to install just the missing applications, and if yes, can you redirectme on where to download .cab files for them ?
2) Is there an easier way to get rid of the Language problem ?
Thank you guys
Barabba
Could you tell me which English ROM you want to go to?
Is it a language problem or a country code problem.
If you have the other upgrades where you want the cabs from, you can extract them with ER2003Edit.
- I think DCS's solution http://wiki.xda-developers.com/wiki/HimalayaRomFlashing has helped most people with country codes.
- Haven't tried but according to the author of ER2003Edit, you can change the operator of the upgrade with ER2003Edit to the one you have now on your xdaII and it shouldn't give country code errors anymore.
- There is a HIMAUpgradeUT.exe around which doesn't verify the country code, but I haven't tried it. and it doesn't always work, or gives you problems with your next update. I don't know much of this, but i thought i should mention it.
Maybe read http://wiki.xda-developers.com/wiki/HimalayaRomkitchen about composing your own upgrade out of several upgrades.
Also O2UK has a kind of test in the setups of extra progs, to test if it's really an O2 1.72 . Again I don't know much about this but i thought i should mention it. Edsub is/was trying to get around this.
thank you for your help,
i solved the problem, for the moment, downloading the
Extended_ROM_1[1].72.184GER_One_AT.zip
from another post in this forum.. it was holding the cab files for the missing applications...
Damn... i really don't like this Italian Version (i am used to the english texts.... and the translation is poor)...

Hey guys,
I just got my XDA II and I would like to try the Orange m1000 rom.
Is there anybody that does have an UK version of the Orange m1000 rom?
Thanks
Panja
The ROM i refer to in my previous post on the Danish Orange ROM is entirely in English - except for a GPRS default setting pointing to a Danish gateway. You can easily change that.
It can be downloaded freely from Orange in Denmark.

Alas NOPE!
It can't ('out of the box/from the download') be used to update an O2 XDA2 though, because it fails the country check instantly.
As I just tried exactly these things when you posted earlier this morning mate (UK time).
I tried to run the M1000 Denmark (english language) ROM update, on my UK O2 XDA2 today.
It fails straightaway - "Invalid Country".
Not sure if you can hack it or something to allow this, but it's certainly not something I would know how to do, or feel confident trying.
have you tried chancing your country in the local settings before the upgrade ?
you could always change it back
Thanks for the replies guys!!
So what do I need to do to upgrade to the m1000 rom?
Cheers
Panja
if you can get around the country thing then you need
a cradle and the upgrade exe file
Rudegar,
No mate - the country code issue has nothing to do with user set values/user defined regional settings.
It is something hardcoded into the device ROM to identify its country.
It can't be user changed.
It is a hardware check made when starting a ROM Upgrade.
Pity though.
what if you change the exe file to zip and take out the nbf file ?
and install it bootloaderwise ?
would it not work then ?
Er, run that by me in Swahili, as English just lost me...
Nah, seriously mate, I have a basic idea of what that means, but can you be more gentle with me and give me more details?
well if the exe file is an install file
then it's really a selfunpacking zip file
and if you change it from
WHATEVERNAME.exe to WHATEVERNAME.zip
you can unzip the nbf file from inside the zip
and you can use the xdatools to flash the nbf file to a sd card
and upgrade your device from the bootloader
at least thats how you do it on the xda1
I bought some days ago the MDAII for 550€ without SIMLook.
For me the MDA Software is very boring and am missing the features of the XDAII Software.
So my question is...
is it possible to (Software-)Upgrade a MDAII to a XDAII with the Tools wich I can find at this page?
Sorry, I'm a newbie...
and many thnx for the responses!
Quick answer 'Yes'
Slightly longer answer, take the Update from the O2 website, use ER2003 Edit to change the country ID to T-Mobile, then flash away.
I had Dutch T-Mobile...then O2... now custom O2 (removed all O2 custom stuff and got rid of MMS as I dont use it etc etc).
While it is technically possible... if you are a newbie and don't have much experience, I can just recommend: DON'T DO IT... these hacking programs can also lead to complete loss of a working device!

Hi,
I'm a Newbie too, but why should he change the country ID to T-Mobile, if he has a Sim UNlocked handy it should work anyway ... or is it not that way ???
Because if he fails with the procedure and ends up with an unworkable device he will have to go to his vendor who might ask some questions and maybe even reject doing anything about it... is it really worth is?
OK that's the reason, it makes sense ...
thank you

I also have the MDA II, with current 1.60.36 ROM. I liked the 1.60 better.
I'm not sure why you would think O2s ROM is so much more exciting I'm not sure. Besides a different today screen I doubt there is that much difference, except for stability. In fact I was very close to upgrading to O2 1.60.50 myself, but decided to wait for T-Mobile to come out with their next upgrade, which I would think should be soon, because it has been awhile since their last poorly put together upgrade.
As long as you are willing to take the risk of a voided warranty, go for it.
The place to get the upgrade, from t_mobile to O2 is right in this forum index. Look for User-MDKIA. This fellow that put this together I believe knows what he is doing and because of the way he has developed the upgrade I do not believe you need to be concerned about the Country ID error.
Good luck.http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=7278&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=25

Because in my case I had to, gave Country ID error when I tried to put the O2 ROM on my T-Mobile unit.
Dont know why people worry about doing it, as long as you follow instructions its dead simple... unless you are editing the ROM (ie removing bits) you cant really go wrong! Even if you do edit the ROM you still cant really go wrong if you read whats on this site!
Even if you **** up completely as long as you can get to the bootloader you can always flash it back to how it was...
its not rocket science...
I wantet to flash the O2 ROM to the MDAII because I have a O2 SIM Card. Some Options like the Homezone Statusviewer or the O2 Active profiles are very useful.
But... If it's so easy as described... It should be no problem to reconvert a MDAII with XDAII ROM back to MDAII ROM (for example if I want to sell it) or not?
thnx for all these useful informations.
;-)
Hey m8!
Check here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=8205
Itsme made a tutorial for upgrading roms.
I don't know your problem... it's really easy as hell.
Just use Er2003edit, it takes care for everything!!!
Here you can edit the header information with a drop down menu.
If you currently have a MDA2 simply change the header info in the three ROM-files from O2 to TMOBILE, then run the upgrade.
You cannot do something wrong, the upgrade tool will not start at all if not everything is right, and even then still the bootloader is available.
I haven't heared so far of a trashed XDA2 device ;-)
By the way... think of making your own Ext-rom ;-)

Investigate the threads refering to Er2003edit, I think they explain pretty good what it is all about.
In the end it is simple drag 'n drop with programs you like to have after hardreset (or don't have). When finished update the config.txt file which handles the install process, note not to use programmes which execute a softreset after install.
Look at this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=7196&highlight=
here is a lot optimized stuff for the ext-rom.

Agree. I think setting the timer on my VCR is more complex!
Even if it all goes completely wrong you should still have access to the bootloader... so you can just flash it again...
settings o2 rom (germany)
Hi,
I'm using a MDA II (T-Mobile) and a O2 card.
I'm interessted in umgrading to a O2 rom but I'm afraid of loosing warranty. I'm not afraid that something should be wrong by flashing the o2-rom to my xda II but I have 2 years warranty left and in that time some other things may happend to my system that I must use the warranty.
So I need the O2 settings of the O2 rom to use MMS, WAP, GPRS,... Which file of the O2 rom have stored these settings?
There are a lot of files in that rom, what are these all for?
I coppied allready the homezone tool which works fine on my XDA II (don't start automatically - coppied to autostart but don't start , only manual start works - somone a sollutions for that?).
Does anyone know for what all the programs in my startfolder are for? There are a lot of entried which will fast system... But I don't want to find it out by trieing....
Does anyone knows a good simulation for the XDA II to test software. I dont' want to put all on my life system and delete again. I thing the regestry will grows bigger and bigger....

I have the 2.20.07CHS ROM installed but I found some strange folders and the font letters are outside the display (in some screens).
Anyone have the 2.20.07 WWE?
I can't find it...
It exists??? :?
Anyone have the same problems I reported?
 <Sorry for my poor english!>
RE
Your version is translated from Chinese. Due to the fact that its NOT 100% translated you'll get those strange looking folders/boxes/fonts which are actually in Chinese if you've a Chinese software installed to see them.

Ya! I know that. But I don't like it this way.
There are a 2.20WWE?
Is better to downgrade?
Someone can tell me, please?
There are (or not) a Himalaya 2.20WWE ROM?
Now, ROM 2.20 WWE does not exist.
It doesn't occur in this time.
Still wait for some operator to release it.
So, what the best WWE ROM?
2.02t or 2.06?
I like the Media Player 10 but I hate that chinese characters appearing all the time.
why dont you try the 2k5.. it does have the wm10 and got alot of changes (*better in my opinion, still have some bugs on hardware/soft) but its only minor for me..
make a try..
WM2005 experience
I have tryed the WM2005 but seems to me that is a buggy OS.
Don't you think?
Don't try with 2k5, that's will not satify or you try.
hmm.. not for my experience.. my 2k5 is loaded with programs... and works brilliant.
sad part, i must keep stopping all programs manualy using Running Programs all the time.:-(
 I will try again!
WM2005 need some tunning, right? :?
Something about the ROM.
MSN Messenger.
Synchronization issues by USB.
Anything else?
It is possible to fix those problem by a patch.
those "strange folders" are "Start menu", "Startup", "Favourate" and "Program" in \windows
You can change those folder to its english name however you must find them in registry and change them too.
some registry need to be translated such as :
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ConnMgr\Destinations]
you can guss they are "Internet settings" from "Internet ??" etc
Issue of font size can be fixed in
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\FontLink\SystemLink]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\GDI\SYSFNT]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\GDI\V1\FontAlias]
However i doubt there is anyone still interested in this version.
I dislike some bugs of it which I don't know solution.
such as taping connection icon will lead to hang up if flight mode is on.
I like some program in this CHS extrom such as battery indicator and that flight game.
2.20 ROM
I am just wondering, does anyone know where to find the 2.20 ROM file? Either in Chinese or English?
latest wm2003se rom
My cousin just bought an Acer PDA with the wm2003se 2.20.07 wwe. How can the rom be extracted from the pda. If that can be done I may be able to post it here.

i don't think that acer has windows mobile 2003 se PHONE EDITION and nobody can take rom from one device to another (not even from alpine to himalaya) so it would be useless
i'm staying with wm2k5

That's it! I'm trying WM5 again (since two weeks ago).
ROM 1.60a is great and I recommend it to everybody.
This version just lacking one thing: a 32MB permanent storage (it have 2x16MB now).
I upgrade my Dopod566 (Hurricane) with T-mobile SDA software, but I didn't like it, so I reflash the system to Dopod566. The problem is there's T-Mobile splash in the starting, and I didn't like it.
So would anyone tell me how to get rid of the T-mobile splash from my Smartphone? Many thanks!
I have the t-mobile sda2 and i also dislike the screens, but what i did manage was to find 'RJV RegTweaks UI', this is a real simple regtweaker only for a few settings. It did manage to change part of my shutdown screenS, but my startupscreen(s) remain the same. Since you're original is a different phone, maybe you can search the registry (be carefull not to erase anything, stay alert, hype on caffeine or something what works 4u) for t-mobile startup/shutdown screens. It should be easy to find?
But i've added the regtweaker, not a regeditor, i don't have it here at work.
Dopod566 you say?? Do you have any screenshots? And how stable is it? I haven't heard of this rom before... And maybe you've read my other post... I want another rom, more stable rom
Let us know if you succeeded in getting the screens to bugger off, it is valuable information
Dopod566 is the one version of Hurricane sold in Chinese. The stability can be accepted, but can only display Chinese and English can in this version. Actually, I'm finding 2005 version.

So, let me see if i understand you correctly...
This rom you have is standard in chinese and can be set to english? Or is it english and can be set to chinese? If the last is true, i'd like the rom, i think, because my chinese isn't so great
And have you found a wm2005 version? Or are you searching for one?
Because i definately need to update my rom, but can't find any suitable roms for my hurricane. Only the SDA 2 and a .nbf for an 'orange' c550, but i don't know how to flash my phone with a .nbf file yet...
Hey guys,
I bought a Dopod s300 about 3 weeks ago, and I wanted to get the games that you get off the site, and the new roms, and manuals. But because my phone is registered in Taiwan, it will only accept my serial number on the Taiwan webpage. But the problem here is that I dont understand a word of what it says.
So please can someone forward me to a site that has that software on it, or send me it. Thanks for listening.
Cheers...
I recommend you do the CID unlock and flash either some Cingular or European ROM. I believe you can get the pdf manual too because its the same.
U will only miss their extras - games... But I hope you can find it at different places.
If you'd like to, send me a PM and I can register you at their site.
Download the Dopod ROM and the additional software at the following direct links:
http://www.dopodasia.com/download/RUU_1.32.707.0_DOPODWWE_Ship.exe
http://www.dopodasia.com/download/S300_2577.zip
Enjoy!
Thanks alot guys, you have all been of great help!
sorry im bothering you guys again.
Is it better to flash a cingular rom on my device?
I mean what extras does it give?
Cheers!
I prefer Cingular ROM because it has the latest AKU with this features:
- better handling with SMS and contacts on sim (vCard)
- possibility to "save as" an email attachement or downloaded file
- better iframe support in IE
- AJAX
- internet sharing insteed of modem
- ...
But some people report the ringer is not so loud, the reception and the signal quality may not be so good as with the original ROM - but I had no problems.
is there a tutorial somewhere that goes through the steps of CID unlocking, and flashing the rom?

There is a sticky post as the first entry in this forum to detail the CID unlocking. I still wonder how you missed this. You can post there, if you need any help. You may also like to look at the FAQ section in the XDA-Wiki page for startrek to have better idea. It's at http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_StrTrk.
Flashing different ROM after CID unlocking is in no way different from the original ROM flashing procedure. Simple double clicking on the ROM installer will do.
Thanks. Dont know how I missed it must nead some glasses or something
Cheers!
