XDA and Bluetooth? - MDA, XDA, 1010 General

Hi,
how can I use bluetooth with the XDA? And where can I get the required hardware?
Thanks :?:

all bluetooth devices i know of need SDIO and xda1 dont support that
i've seen no way for the xda1 to get bluetooth but i suppose it would be possible to do using the connector in the button and make a dongle which would route the bluetooth over the seriel port
but i doubt the market is big enough for anybody to make such a device which can only be used by a product which are being fased out

xda and bluetooth

Hi,
Anyone know how to connect bluetooth to
O2 XDA? Thanks.
Bluetooth usb adaptor F8T001
Use bluetooth usb adaptor F8T001.
The XDA can only be hooked up as USB slave. Meaning it can only talk to a computer, not to peripherals, such as bluetooth adapters.
What?
That BlueTooth adapter is for adding Bluetooth to a computer with a USB port. That is the Belkin adapter.
That wont work.
IF someone has seen something... Id like to know... but as far as I know its not possible considering the SD slot does not support SD/IO and a serial implementation would be bulky. Furthermore the USB sync connection does not offer USB host which is what is needed to use USB devices. To my knowledge there is only one or two Pocket PCs that have this. The toshiba and one of the Cassiopeias.
BeDammit
YellowTab... the ressurection of BeOS
long usb sync connection
No bluetooth on Xda.
Only option is to use a very long usb sync connection?
bluetooth with usb port?
Hi,
Anyone know if there is such thing as a bluetooth with usb port?
Thank you.
Yes, but it would not help you since the device can only talk to USB-equipped computers, not to USB devices. To use BDSM terminology, it's a 'slave' and not a 'master', and doesn't like reverse roleplay.
I am lost here
I just dont understand why there is no way to use bluetooth on Xda
since you can use a usb sync cable or infrared to synchronised the
xda & desktop pc. Can there be a blue tooth unit at the end of the
usb sync cable that hook up to xda to received the signal from the bluetooth adaptor that connect to the desktop pc usb port. I thought
it is like just cutting the usb sync cable and using sort of wireless
medium to joint their ends. I understand a little bit about xda being a slave device etc but dont understand the part that you cannot use
sort of connections or adaptors etc to transmit signal? Maybe those
guys from bluetooth,SIG, will look into this area. So far as I know
they only have bluetooth to connect pc to printer and keyboard.
Seems like they say something like the OS of xda will not accept
bluetooth etc.. Hope you experts can enlightened me. Thank you.
Yeah, no problem! Go stick a Blutooth adapter on the end of a USB cable........then come back and let us know when you have paired the two devices up.
Hi everybody,
I´m new in here, so please forgive me when I'm asking stupid questions or anything
several things I found out so far :
first of all, of course there is a difference between a USB host and a USB device, as BeDammit pointed out correctly above. To use USB devices, the XDA would need host function instead of its built-in USB slave used for synchronisation. Generally speaking, there are just a few devices offering both host and slave function, since there are only a few USB chips offering both (for the developers: Philips has just launched some new of these chips).
For PDAs with Compact Flash, there is a new solution, which you can check out here : http://www.ratocsystems.com/english/products/subpages/cfu1u.html
(If they'd only had a SD version... :? )
Nevertheless, a synchronisation via bluetooth should still be possible since xda would only be a slave. There are some guys here in Germany offering Bluetooth Headsets via ebay, article number is 3329163765. On this auction's site they say : "don`t keep telling us your xda has no bluetooth; we know that. Therefore you will be delivered an additional bluetooth adaptor " (sic!)
I have not gone further to this so far, for actually I don't have my xda yet... 8) , but maybe this helped you a little further...
<half an hour later : >
I got it ! I got it ! It's made by Toshiba, but compatible. Check it out here :

Interesting
Anyone care to look more closely into this product and give us some feedback? Unfortunately I don't have the skills to do such a thing.
Cheers!
XDAs do not support SDIO cards, only SD memory cards...
(And doing a search in older messages would have revealed this same answer, only about 50 times...)
I have heaRD THAT o2 MAY BE RELEASING AN xda with triband and 64Mb ROM c/w bluetooth. A dealer told me but no word on the net. The XDA 64i apparently.
Anyone else heard that?
E-Ten P700
Yes, I got a reply from the supplier E-Ten who told
me The new device with bluetooth will be call E-Ten P700.
It is similar to O2xda just like their older version P600 series
but this one will have bluetooth. Their P610 has wifi 802.11b.
But the new P700 will only be release Q3. Most probably O2xda
new release might be around the same time. Cheers

GPS on the XDA?

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone knows of any tutorials/read-ups available for setting up GPS for the XDA?
I'm aware of the software available ( Tom Tom etc) but am unsure if I need further equipment/cables etc.
I don't want to hook up to the car, just to be used handheld as I roam the streets! (Errrrrr....!)
Thanks for any info, in advance.
Midi :?
(UK, XDA I)
http://www.tomtom.com/products/products.php?ID=31&Language=1
this tomtom2 support xda and comes with anything maybe apart from all maps
deleted
well it will when tomtom make their new software update
and i think he's talking about xda1
and the link i gave is not for the bluetooth version
You might it find it very ungainly, the xda needs a cable device which also needs power, so I think you need to look for a different solution unless you are willing to carry the gps, cable, power source, xda etc. For in car it is fine, any questions about gps with xda I will do my best to answer.

PLEASE HELP, complete newbie need help with gps setup.

Hello I have just purchased an 02 xda not the 2 or anything just the xda. The reason behind buying it was to have a cheap sat nav kit as I'm not very rich unfortunately.
However, I dont have the first clue as to how to set it up, the guy gave me tom tom 3 on an mmc card. Said I need a gps receiver or something like that. I am willing to buy one but dont know which one and why and whats compatible.
Also someone else said I can run it off gprs but after reading up that doesnt seem to be very accurate so want to go gps. Do I need a gps antenna? Not sure what that is but told I need it if I dont have one.
Could someone please run me through the procedure of how to set it up as a sat nav. I'm more than happy just to use it as tom tom 3, but want to know what additional kit do I need.
Thanks.
Imran
Hi
Dig more on internet about that. You'll find step-by-steps.
First thing you need is a GPS receiver (cable or bluetooth one).
Just ask the seller if it works with XDA I. (Cable connector).
As far as I know XDA I has bluetooth ? You can but bluetooth GPS then (more expensive, but wireless and works with any BT palmtop for sure).
The rest of configuration is easy and is describes in TomTom help or/and GPS manual.
Good luck.
Hello, thanks for the reply. Did do some advice and done some digging about, so now where I stand is, I have ordered a gps receiver with the correct cable for my XDa. It surprisingly doesnt have bluetooth so couldnt get the bluetooth receiver.
Have got tom tom 5 navigation software, now should be ready to go.
Imran
Hope you have ordered a splitter cable, as the receiver needs power supply. TomTom Navigator 5 will work fine on a XDA I. Use only a headset when you'r on a motorbike, it is sufficient for navigation.

bluetooth to IR

does anyone know if this device would work with the TP2 ?
http://www.engadget.com/2008/03/28/ir2bt-infrared-to-bluetooth-converter-now-on-sale-ps3-owners-re/
so that we can use it as a universal remote (I would prefer putting that down on a table somewhere and having my phone as a remote than to buy an expensive stand-alone remote).
thanks!
ps. I know my signature shows that I don't have a tp2 yet... still waiting for the CDMA version

That device is showing to be an IR to bluetooth, not the other way around, so it wouldn't work for what you want it to do.

It is an IR remote software/hardware solution but does not use bluetooth

FM transmitter Driver and app

Hi to all.
Exist a FM transmitter app (not bluetooth, transmit with chip radio) for android? If not, it's possible do a reverse engineering of radio driver of x10 mini pro to transmit FM waves on Radio Car???
I don`t thonk so. Probably phone dont`t have fm-antenna for transmission.
The headphones work as fm-antenna!
What an intriguing idea. I don't think there's any existing app's for it out there though. You may have to make it yourself..
Searching on google, i have find only bluetooth transmitter... I don't have a lot of knowledge for make a reverse engineering for the driver, but i ask this at the developers/members of this forum if want to develop.
Thanks!

It is recieving antenna. I think transmitting antenna won`t wired at all.
look at this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1001117&highlight=fm+transmitter
So is not possible???
No. The FM-module in the phone is a receiver, and you need a transmitter...
Ok! Then i buy a FM transmitter on ebay!
