Who realy cares about french speaking Qtek2020 endusers? - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 ROM Development

I'm sorry to say that nobody cares about them. neither wholesellers like dangaard in France or retailers who sell the Qtek2020 or similar products in their shops or through the internet;
Neither does Htc or Qtek itself as there is no easy way to lay your hands on newer rom upgrades, even on this forum. There are even more frequently rom available for WWE edition versions, but the french speaking community is always stucked with lower and less improved rom versions and the information regarding new releases is scarce compared to the info available for the wwe rom community, either branded or unbranded..
There are guys like Goztreh who are kind enough to host the mainly available versions, but we are still stucked with the 1.58 version as at least a 1.60 something french updated version should be widely available as Qtek2020 sold in France by the Fnac shops feature this new version.
Where can it be downloaded? No one knows, at least i don't... It is going to be even more difficult to upgrade unbranded versions as branded version are going , at last, to be released by Orange (SPVM100) and maybe other mobile network operators;
How when this will happen will it be possible to get unbranded firmware sets for unbranded Qtek users in France. Nobody seems even to care: looka t the number of still left unanswered posts from frenchies asking desperately for more up o date firmwares for their beloved machine.
If someone really cares, then
1/ First, answer this post
2/Tell alll frenchies where they can get from now on (dowload link) regularly updated french firmware versions for their machines
For the time being, nobody cares about french guys and girls who like me can english and love this language but would prefer not having to flash a WWE edition in order to be sure to stay reallly up to date for their firmware.
Proove me wrong and all french locutors will be happy and will no more feel neglected!!

ben on est pas rendu
Rien de neuf tu sais...c est pour cela que beaucoup d entre nous font les upgrade en anglais.
Et au fond, l utilisation n est pas plus difficille et tu est sur d etre a jour
Bonne chance

That's the harsh reality of life.
There are NO Danish or Norwegian ROM's at all.
Learn English, that is the international language, especially when you move into specialized devices like the XDA II.
The amount of testing needed to be done after a translation is probably too expensive. french, being one of the larger local languages often gets translation along with spanish first, but it will always be behind the source language.
If they come at all, smaller languages like Danish are in the third wave, often months after the International English versions.
Most people in Denmark just accept the fact that you have to use English if you want to be with the latest and greatest.
You can still write your mails and reports in your language of choice, only the menu items etc will be English.
Regards
Michael

French Rom
Thanks everybody for these first imputs; Luckily i can speak and write in english, so this is not a problem, but i want my consumer rights to be respected in this matter and i expect to get from Qtek (HTC) and Dangaard in France and... microsoft whose operating system is embedded in the machine proper and dependable service i'm entitled to. thats all !!
Arnaud

i dont care that much about a rom being in my language
but 2 things i would like to get is
1 that the letter recognizer would work with other chars then those typical letters like ae and oe and ....
2 maybe a dic in my language because when i am writing a sms it keep sugesting english words in the word compleating
2b come to think of it i do have a description how to make ones pocketpc use the dic files from normal word from the pc, they said if you did it wrong the pda would not be able to recognize any words at all but i'm confident that a hardreset would resolve this

Adhoc, I quite agree that you should be able to use all French characters - a keyboard with support for the French accents (was it egu and grave - forgive my spelling) etc. should be there - just as we have a third party keyboard with the Danish extra 3 letters.
Personally I don't even want a Danish ROM, knowing that well known terms will be translated into something obscure.
I don't want terms like GSM, Modem etc to be translated, that would only slow me down wondering searching for the right function.
I also realize that the French guard their language much more that we do, but I think in this case it is a hopeless uphill battle. English has been established as the international IT and business language and this is where development happens.
Imagine if all French wine bottles had to have their lables translated to local languages that would be a crime.
I don't feel that any consumer rights have been violated, I have never been promised a Danish ROM, only the functionality.
All this being said, I have not noticed any significant differences between ROM 1.62 and 1.66 at all.. The available fixes from this site had made my 1.52 working perfectly.
Happy Weekend
Michael

New ROM Version

On http://www.pocketpc-club.nl/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=23379&highlight=dangaard you can see that this user "basile" has gotten hold on a new 1.60.021 ROM Update from Dangaard Telecom, one of the distributors in Europe. It seems that they've seen in their logs that a lot of people were downloading it, and I didn't even get the chance to get a hold of it! So if someone has this version please upload it so everyone can experience the real 1.60 version

The old version T-mobile 1.60.006 rom update can still be downloaded @ http://www.xda-developers.com/incoming/rom160wwe/.
Did we already mention that this board now takes up to 50 MB attachments?

(doesn't anyone have this version??)
I actually suspect that the new "Dangaard" Rom is not that interesting. The OS version offered in the package is 1.60.00, the Radio stack is 1.06.1, so both are the same as the T-Mobile upgrade. Only the extended Rom is different (1.60.21 instead of 1.60.06).
Aside from that, all non-qtek devices will encounter the Country ID error, thus preventing the upgrade.
Yes, but i have a Qtek 2020 DK ver. and i would really like that upgrade. I was thinking about writing to user "basile" in the other forum, but maybee some of you people speaking Dutch, could do that

I tried but "basile" isn't replying at all...
@ wiz : still, it's nice to have a version without all the t-mobile stuff in your extended rom.
@Roffa: I use the T-Mobile ROM without all the T-Mobile extensions. Simple, after a hard reset, soft reset it at the "3 seconds before customization" screen, customization will not take place anymore. After that, enable the Extended Rom and point and click only the cabs you wish to install .... In my XDA II the word T-Mobile can't even be found in the registry

Country error
Hello; for your info, not only non Qtek holders but also Qtek holders having upgraded before to the TmobileNL rom will encounter this error!!
Could someone looki into this and come up with something to get rid of the country error;
So far i tryed to flash two new rom versions on my simfree and not tied to any mobile network Qtek2020 (the new european one and the new imate one) and both had the device display the country error;
It seems that they only rom i could flash would be Tmobile's german rom because when i launch the installer the error message is not displayed and i'm offered to flash the Qtek2020.
As there is no support from Qtek at all, which is not the case for imate's owners, could someone help us definitely get rid of this annoying problem which will prove to be more and more annoying as to the lack of elementary support by Qtek for its customers.
Brgds, Arnaud
Hi Roffa and the rest:
Looks like the link to the 1.60 ROM version has been removed from the nl forum by the moderator (stripped down from basile user post).
Has anybody found that anywhere else? We the Qtek owners seem to be out of luck regarding support issues....
i found it

Is there really a difference between the 1.6 and the 1.6.xxx???
Are there any real significant changes???
Unable to upgrade
Sorry I tried, unable to upgrade get the country id error.
Currently running the 1.60 T-Mobile NL
But here is the content of the Extended ROM

Are anybody able to download the file from the www.ace-hellas.gr site ???
Yes, it is possible, just try again just now, I am able to download.
Dangaard Rom
Yes, per specific request of Dangaard we have removed the link to the download from our forum. Our website, and with us undoubtedly many other websites, depends on good relations with manufacturers and distributors, and we see no use in harming these good relations by making available rom upgrades that are meant for a limited beta-testing group prior to publication.
We do agree, however, that when branding an OEM product, whether it ends up as an i-Mate, a Qtek 2020 or an O2 XDA II for that matter, it deserves good and proper end-user support. In this, I explicitly do see an obligation for Dangaard, as they seem to be the sole (or one of the few) European distributor for the Qtek 2020, to provide support for the machine, and provide the end-user community with updates as an when they become available.
This, however, does not implicate the right to an upgrade when it has not been made publicly available yet. There often is a reason behind this, and frankly, it would not be the first time that I see an upgrade "leaked" that actually does more harm than good. (For instance, there IS an upgrade out there that very radically and permanently nukes the bluetooth stack of an XDA II, never to be fixed again. Would YOU want to run the risk of having your manufacturer tell you that your warranty is void because you put an update on your machine that you are not supposed to have, let alone put on your machine for instance because it’s not device or provider specific?
That is why whenever there’s an upgrade out there, it is best to leave it to the appointed people that test these roms, or the ultimately manufacturer, to decide when and how it becomes available. Until then, it is at your *own* risk that you apply these type of upgrades, and don’t come crying for help when something happens. I actually DO foresee a lot of problems with non-T-Mobile machines that have the first T-Mobile upgrade applied, which most likely will prevent reverting to the proper operator or machine specific update once it becomes available (we have been seeing quite a few “Error 120: Country ID error” messages lately).
There’s a nice saying in Dutch, “Bezint, eer ge begint”, that roughly translates into “Think, before you leap”, and that nicely applies to this situation. Hence, I’d suggest, rather than hunting down an illegal upgrade, we all are better off joining forces in addressing the distributor, in this case Dangaard, and request regular updates, or at least regular status updates on when an where which upgrade will become available.
PS: I too have willingly put my O2 XDA’s warranty on the line by applying the first T-Mobile rom upgrade. ;-)

Yes, it's gone, again......

I absolutly can admit (and understand) whatever YOUR policies are about YOUR web page posting, and your relationship with providers, but please, keep the moral speech for yourself.
We are supposed to know were we are, and be able to understand the implications of upgrades and misbehaved applications, so PLEASE, stop protecting us from ourselves. (or at least don't try to explain your censorship habits, just say you did because it's your policy, that is!)

Problems New Dutch TyTn ROM

To all, After I had a small problem after upgrading my TyTn with a new Dutch ROM, I had a very disturbing responce. It seems that HTC int doesn't support this new ROM, and it is a own initiative of a dutch distributer. This distributer falsly use official logo's of Htc on his site, in a way that dutch consumers consider this as a officiel site. Legal steps are taken by Htc int against this. There will be a official upgrade available within a few weeks, on the international site. The problem what arised with me was with Spb GPRS, which wouldn't install due to a problem in the ROM. The original ROM is not available, so we must wait till the new one. No further problems so far, but a very strange story. It was told to me by a dutch, and an English representor of Htc int.
Cheers for sharing that info.
We shall look forward to a new ROM soon then!

Strange. I would have expected the Dutch distributor (which, incidentally, is Dangaard Telecom, a large European distributor) to remove the updates from their website. HTC usually does not waste time around that.
The updates however are still available.

Polish ROM needed.

Is there any way to change language to Polish in Iolite`s english WM 6.1 ? Or does anybody have Iolite with Polish language. If so, please make a dump and post it. I`m looking for a polish ver. of WM 6.1 for Iolite and no results at all. Maybe there`s no polish wm 6.1 but if so, is there any update for T4242 to change language, or maybe some language pack ? Please help.
there's no polish ROM, only sunny soft interwrite multilang for iolite t4242
How is swine flu treated
The new swine flu virus is sensitive to the antiviral drugs Tamiflu and Relenza. The CDC recommends those drugs to prevent or treat swine flu; the drugs are most effective when taken within 48 hours of the start of flu symptoms. But not everyone needs those drugs; many of the first people in the U.S. with lab-confirmed swine flu recovered without treatment. The Department of Homeland Security has released 25% of its stockpile of Tamiflu and Relenza to states. Health officials have asked people not to hoard Tamiflu or Relenza.------------------------------------------------------lingerie wholesalesexy lingerie

[Q] SGSII Localisation - is there any

Hi,
I live in Finland but I will be in Switzerland for a while. I found out that I could get the phone quite a lot cheaper from here.
I have never owned an Android phone before. I am interested in the localisation this phone (might) have, ie. how easy it is to change for example the keyboards to support the Scandinavian alphabet. What about the UI in general? Is there some other things that should be taken into account?
Thanks for your answers.

no that wouldnt be a problem, if the phone don't have the Finnish language you could install morelocale2 found on the market
or probably pretty soon flash it with a Finnish software.
but since i 90% of the time buy my phones here in Sweden from Swedish retailers i haven't used the method myself

I'm pretty sure that all Android 2.3 phones allow you to select from any of the available languages upon set up.

AT&T Languages vs Rogers Languages

Hey all, looking into buying my wife a Lumia. She's Finnish, and therefore prefers Nokia phones, however, the last time she went to buy a Nokia, of the ones available at the time, none in the US had Finnish as a selectable language. She called Nokia Finland directly on this, and pretty much cursed them up a storm for half an hour about how a Finn, living in the US, can't get Finnish, on a phone made by a Finnish company. She was pretty pissed.
So, she got the iPhone, because it had Finnish as an option. It's not that she doesn't speak and understand English, she just wants her phone in her native language. That was 5 years ago.
Well, it's about time to upgrade again, and while we were looking at the iPhone again, I'm also looking at the Lumia's. Only problem is, I cannot find, anywhere, a list of the languages available in the standard AT&T US Firmwares. It's not published anywhere that I can find.
I have read that the selection is 'limited' and that Rogers has 'all of them, including polish', but that doesn't tell me which ones are in either.
Mainly, I would like to know if Finnish is available in the AT&T US Firmware, and if not, is it available in the Rogers? And how complicated is reflashing it from the former, to the latter. Never owned a windows phone before, but I'm not a stranger to jailbreaking iPhones or rooting/unlocking/etc Androids. Just haven't had hands on a windows phone yet.
If anyone has just a plain list of all the Languages available in the different firmwares, I think that would work out best for everyone. Barring that, if you have one of these phones, can you just post what languages are available in your version? Thanks
Just checked my ATT 920 and Finnish isn't listed. Sorry. Perhaps a call to Nokia to see if there is a language pack.

Thanks for the feedback Demon Fox. ( you're talking about att version right?)
I had the 900 and I sold it for that reason, No Arabic Keyboard input even after the so called 7.8 update( the UI not important for me ). Many people were talking about language packs but no actual "tutorial" or even a hint on how to extract or merge the language packs with a current WP OS.
