Upgrade => Problems with GPS - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 ROM Development

Hi,
I have a problem wtih my HPC and would like to c if anyone can help.
Problem description:
After Upgrading the Rom from I-Mate's webpage to 1.66WWE the GSM phone has serious problems (seems very week).
I purchased my phone in the middle east and it had an older ROM version (Am not sure but it probably was 1.52 I am sure the radio was older than 1.10 but not sure which version I suspect it was 1.03.
When I first arrived here in the US it was working fine with AT&T cingular and T-mobile. Reasonable reception and stability.
Then I stupidly decided to upgrade the roms from i-mate's webpage and I started facing problems. Now the phone either can't find the network or sees a very very week signal.
More annoyingly when It tried to downgrade it to the older version on imate's webpage it refused to downgrade the radio version and kept it at 1.10.00.
My questions:
1. Any idea where I can find an older version of the radio rom s/w so I can get my GSM phone working?
2. Any ideas what I can do to upgrade to the 1.66WWE and the 1.10 radio and still have them work here in the US?
as it is now my settings are:
ROM version 1.52.00WWE (was 1.66 for while)
ROM date 10/29/03
Radio version 1.10.00
protocol version 1.337.18
ExtROM: 1.52.114
HELP!

Version 1.72 seriously discussed

Can anyone share with us information on version 1.72 for XDA2: features, benefits, pros, cons... ?
Is worth upgrading from O2 1.60 ?
thanks
There are allready many threads on this.
But to conclude:
If you don't have any issues with your current version: stay with it.
You might consider 1.72 (the Qtek or iMate versions, NOT the T-Mobile beta) especially when:
1. You need certain Bluetooth options (ie serial port protocol) and don't want to mess around with hacks or extra 'tools'
2. Battery life is important
For me these points were enough to DO the upgrade (coming from 1.63 T-Mobile NL). And very happy with it.
Keep in mind that (unless you find a 1.72 from your own operator) you will have quite some work with getting all the customisations right.
One of these days I will post a good working set (no issues in a month holiday!!) of customisations to be used as a an extended rom for T-Mobile NL
i'm currently using the T-Mobile ROM v1.72WWE had no problem with it. the batt life was improved noticeably. I was using the O2 ROM v1.66WWE
as for my bluetooth i'm using the widcomm BT-PPC/PE v1.0.0 build 1400. no problems with it except that it turns off whenever i set my phone to standby mode.
downlaod
i have a qtek 2020 with rom 1.66 and it is doing a lot of problem which version is better and where can i download it
1.72 ROM Editing the Connectivity
Hi, I am v happy with the 1.72 ROM... I have successfully added my local GPRS setting for my operator.
but ... I can't edit my ISP GPRS settings.
In the select network, edit My ISP, the existing connections doesn't show up to allow me to edit the settings. No exisiting connection to "tap" on!?

1.72 ROM
i have 'salad rom' with asian flavour(Included 'auto configuration' & 'o2 connect) and happy with it.
rom 1.72WWE, radio 1.17, ext.rom 1.72.900 (main rom by Qteq, radio by T-mobile, ext.rom by edsubsoft).
untill now ;
phone, gprs, activesync, run program, MS BT stack, sms, mms ........are running well. (maybe i am lucky with it)
keep to my salad untill SE come out.
---------------
many thanks to [Krueger] Dr. Stein, mamaich, itsme, edsub...
you are great man.
Most of the post regarding ROM Salads and customizations are beyond what I wish to perform on my device. To dat I have only loaded T-Mobile ROM upgrades that required nothing more than loading them automatically. I currently have the T-Mobile U7K Beta on my MDA II.
Can someone please explain the following:
1. Is there another T-Mobile 1.72 WWE available that I can load, non-beta?
2. I see other Custom ROMs on this site that state T-Mobile. Can I simply load those automatically or will I have to get into country ID, .nbf files, etc?

Official T-Mobile
Hi. Gratefuled
maybe this can help you : :?: :?:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=11169
ajong,
Thanks for the link. I have looked at that page/thread, but I think what I want is still not available.
I'm looking for an official T-Mobile 1.72 ROM, si I can get rid of the 1.72 Beta, or I'm looking for someone's custom ROM that I can load just like I could an official one. In other wors the custom I suppose would be ok, but I do not want to mess around with opeing the ROM and disecting and changing certain settings. Like I say, it just may not be out there.

State of the nation: Bluetooth and ROM upgrades

I've been off the forum for a long while.
Could somebody update me on where we stand on ROM/Operator ROM versions and is it yet possible to install a REAL Bluetooth stack (i.e. one that supports a handsfree profile and passes car microphone into the XDA for voice recognition).
I have an XDA2 with an identity crisis (had a sexchange and now masquerades as an M1000 on Orange).
BTW I currently use a T610 with my Parrot car kit. What an outstanding implementation of Bluetooth services!! XDA developers could do worse than write a T610 emulator ....
The current rom version is:
OS 1.72.00WWE
Radio 1.17.00
ExtROM:
O2 1.72.181 / 1.72.187 (UK based, difference: one is with other without Blackberry)
T-Mobile 1.72.190 (NL based)
iMate 1.72.126
QTek 1.72.601
I would go for the O2 or T-Mobile ones, but: There are many customisations available (like my own 1.72.903 T-Mobile based) with many extras that might suit your wishes.
Read the sticky post from dcs to fix & prevent upgrade errors to avaoi Identity crises.
The current ExtROM version of the imate is 1.72.800.
How (and why..) can I upgrade the Radio version to 1.17 (my current is 1.14.
@amir : you could replace radio.nbf from your upgrade with another 1.17 out of some recent update.
Just watch the country code.
and do not try to update radio alone. just reupdate with existing OS rom, new radio rom and existing EXtrom
About the why I'm not so sure. I don't recall the benefits of 1.17 against 1.14. maybe you could do a search.
Only rom part that can be left out with a rom update is the ExtROM.
You MUST upgrade Radio & OS at the same time as a minimum.
The ExtROM can also be updated via the ExtRom Tools (which is less dangerous than flashing.
Have loaded all the latest updates available but original BT problems still remain. I have a Nokia CK-1W car kit which has always refused to work though I did get some success using the Pocket Bluetools stack ( incoming calls only ). Don't know of any other solutions for BT right now ???
Well I have the T-Mobile 1.72 ROM already (with Orange 1.66 ExtROM) and the Bluetooth is still rubbish.
Oh well, one day!!
PS Pocket PC tools looked promising for a while but I couldn't get it to work with Parrot. Have there been any updates since April?
Cheer
BT is working just fine (thanks god ).
I am pairing daily with GPS receiver & BT headset, no problems at all.
I just upgrded my ExtROM, with official update from iMate, I think I'll skip updating the radio, since I see no known reason for that.
BTW, I just heard a rumor saying ROM 1.77 for the iMate, will on the air within 1-2 weeks.
The update contains radio 1.17
Get the 2.02.t1WWE Windows 2003SE upgrade which is available on this site from DCS.
I recently upgraded my device and it now works with my Nokia CARK-1W bluetooth car kit. I have tried every upgrade available up until this one for a fix without any joy so I am rather please with the results !!
Incidentally, performace on my XDAII has improved over the last ROM.

Simple upgrade questions

Hi,
I have a T-Mobile Hermes 300
It has Telstra's software on it for Australia (from the previous owner)
It has the following installed:
IPL of 1.01
SPL of 1.06
Rom Version: 1.31.305.2
Radio Version: 1.20.31.10
Protocol Version: 32.52.7020.00H
ExtROM Version: 1.31.305.103
I am interested in upgrading just the Radio firmware to the latest revision available on here, is this possible without installing other firmware such as the OS?
I was planning on installing that Anti Brick SPL software before considering to upgrade it, is this the correct course of action? then just install the Radio firmware?
Will I loose the Telstra software? or can I use 3G even without it?
If I could continue to use 3G with Telstra in Australia and worldwide I'd be even happier!
Thanks!
Alex
You don't need the cusomtized Telstra software to use their 3G network. All you need is your device (assuming it is unlocked from TMobile) and your SIM card for Telstra.
I read some post around here specifically about Telstra. May want to search before you do anything - try to google forum search for Telstra 3G upgrade or something like that.
Thanks for that, I had a check and nothing really specific came up with google.
So all seems good on that frontier.
Now just need an answer on the Radio firmware part!
EDIT!!
Install HardSPL first (guide)
then install the new radio (guide)

Calls Recieving pb after upgrade to WM6 !

Greetings,
Yesterday i upgraded my Hermes to WM6 from HTC website, everything went fine, but since i cannot recieve any calls but can call and everything else is fine, i'm new in this but here are more details:
Rom version : 3.54.256.2
Rom date : 07/06/07
Radio version : 1.47.00.10
Protocole version : 32.80.7020.20H
Ext. rom version : 3.54.256.103
I live in France and using Bouygues Telecom, i read on a french forum that the problem might be this radio version with Bouygues Telecom.
Are there any from France that have resolved this problem? is it easy to change the rom? and is there any guide on this great forum to learn how to do that?
thank you for your help!
Curious Jack
You can change just the Radio ROM part. What was your old radio version?
Here is the Radio Upgrade Only Wiki:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_ExtractedRadioRoms
Unfortunally i did not check it out before upgrading to WM6, and i just installed version 1.50.00.00 and nothing has changed, i can call but when i'm called or it rings busy or its straight to answering box.
thanks!
Curios Jack
Hi,
if like me you are in France with Bouygues Telecom, here are the original versions (as I was looking for switching to WM6 and now I'm asking myself some questions...)
ROM : 1.18.256.2
Radio : 1.03.03.10
Protocol : 32.34.7010.01H
I hope it will help you get back to a working phone...
Regards
Try installing radio version 1.40.30.00.
I have a similar problem on the network I am currently on with radio 1.41.00.10 and any version higher so far.
I can summarize the problem I faced as follows - if there is a data connection active, then the phone will not be able to receive an incoming voice call, unless the caller keeps trying maybe like 5 to 10 times.
The network I am on now is DTAC in Thailand, using EDGE for data.
Once I downgraded to 1.40.30.00, even with an active data connection, the incoming voice call still came through.

I had a same problem after uprgaded my Vario II to WM06 HTC ROM. I could send/receive msg and call out, but not received any call
I tried these combination:
- Upgraded to WM06 HTC ROM and keep the original radio version (1.48): wouldn't work
- Upgraded radio version to 1.50: wouldn't work
Solution:
- Downgraded radio version to 1.41. My device fine now
My network:
- Vodafone New Zealand
Hope it help
Thanks for sharing ...
I solved my problem by downgrading one by one the first one that worked is the 1.41.00.10 so i will try it and see ...
What a relief ....
thanks again
CJ
thanks xupcua and glad to read that it works for you Curious Jack.
I think I'll wait this weekend before upgrading, I need my phone for work
Thanks to all for their help. Great job !
update done and all working good (at least for now...)
I've tried all radio versions from 1.51. The only one which works is 1.41. With others, no incoming calls.
Well, it definitely seems to be a Bouygues issue, as I am in the same situation.
Back with 1.41, I can call and receive calls, but no internet access ! Are you in the same case ?
Olpetit
Internet access through GPRS is working good.
Can't try Wifi as my Linksys wifi router just died 2 weeks ago and I'm back with a wired only Netgear router.
I will go and get a new Wifi router on saturday. I'll post my results then.

Hi guys,
I have installed radio rom 1.40 : the gsm works fine, Edge gprs too, but now i have wifi connection problem, its impossible to get connected ... i discovered that if i put the gsm off the wifi is connecting, but not with the gsm on
I dont know if its a radio rom problem or something else ...
CJ
hum if that's true I think I'll go back to radio 1.03 which was the radio I had when I bought my TyTn... and with which Wifi was working pretty good
Edit : I succeeded in connecting me to a neighbor wifi router (with his agreement). I was able to download GoogleMaps for mobile, load a few bitmaps, check my mail. All this with GSM on.
It may not be a radio relative problem. It needs more testing but my neighbor's wife said it was too late to continue

upgrading to wm6 but keeping wm5 radio version?

i just got my htc replaced because i corrupted my hermes when i upgraded the radio. i was wondering if i upgrade everything except for the radio (ie: schaps) will it still grab the signal 110% of the time?

radio version: 1.40.30.00
htc hermes // att wireless
