Hi mates,
I'm trying to access my Hotmail account through MSN page but I keep getting this error msg
"Your Web browser options are currently set to disable cookies. To use .NET Passport, you must enable cookies."
I'm sure it's enabled coz it's working with other sites. Any other people encountered this problem or it's something wrong on my device ?
problems with web access to Hotmail
Ga Day mate!
Odds are you have, but I thought I would check...
Have you checked the box "Allow cookies" Under the Advanced Tab for Internet Explorer?
That is the only thing I can think of.. oh and I clean out my temp folders often and blow away all the cookies just as often...
Hope that helps...
Laters.
yeah it's enabled .. I even made sure to switch it on directly from the registry ... no luck :? ... I 'm sure it's working coz whenever I access this forum from the XDA I 'm already logged on ... it's not a big deal, but it's annoying
what if you are connected to messenger ?
it's passport related aswell maybe being connected to it would help ?
I tried that either ... no luck so far :?
I think I 'll have to spend some time with the cookies directory to see if there is a file that was attributed to hidden or read-only by mistake.
I had this (previously seemed to work OK) but suspect the MSN redirector service is not correctly spotting mobile clients, so:
CHANGE YOUR INITIAL/HOME PAGE TO MOBILE.MSN.COM and go from there
It worked!! ... brilliant tip

Me and my collegue are the happy owners of a pair of xdaII units, but.........
I'm getting tired of having to put the units into the cradle everytime we have to sync our calenders etc. Especially because were not neccessarily next to a computer all the time.
Can't this be done directly via BT or IR?
Hope you can help.............
No one????
never heard about syncing with anything but a computer
Neither have I, but perhaps someone could help ???
I think it maybe because active sync is a clinet-server aplication not client-client aplication
Ok. But isn't there somehow to get over this? Isn't it possible to install some kind of server on one of the devices?
Really no one, that could help ????
sure it could be don
but if it will be don depend on
demand
i dont think it's a small task to program it if it's not don yet
being that activesync protocol have alot of overhead which would have to be handled too like explore device and other such things
so programming it would be alot of work
and why if it dont exist already could be that
i believe 99% of people have 1 pda which they sync with 1 pc with outlook
and if 2 people have to share tasks, contacts and such
their outlook connect to a exchange server and handle it that way
pda is personal so i dont think that many people want to sync their personal stuff with somebody else's personal digital assistant
if you are looking for pointers as how you can make it your self
i sugest the developing and hacking it forum
since this upgrading forum really is more related to
upgrading the rom
and your post would often get pushed down the page so people cant see it pretty fast so if somebody did know something they would never see your post
if u use WM5 magneto, just copy pim file from root to other PDA...
That will not work!!! Then I'll erase the new contacts from the unit, the pim file gets transferred to.
OK. I've app unlocked my phone as per post 188 here -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=372717 (Thanks Erofich) and now when I try and install my server certificate I no longer get the message that my I don't have permission but I don't get the message saying it's been installed either (nothing seems to happen) and I still get a cert error when I try and sync. Any ideas?
Thanks
If you have changed the 1017 policy to 144, then it should allow it.
You dont get a confirmation message on installation though. So check settings, security, certificates, root certificates to make sure it has gone into the right place.
If its there and you get the error then the cert doesnt match the server...
Thanks. The cert is there.
It is the same cert I have been using successfully on my Ameo (where you do get a confirmation message) so I'm now stumped
Its definitely in the root certs?
I would start at the beginning and double check server name and sync settings on device.
Its definitely in the root certs.
The name on the cert is the server name I connect to and everything 'seems' fine, but I still get 0x80072F0D invalid cert.
I downloaded the cert from my certsrv and have double checked my ActiveSync settings and confirmed the server name, user name, password and domain.
Anything else I can check?
Thanks
Hmmm... as long as you are using the FQDN for the server, then there is no reason for it not to work.
I wonder if you delete the partnership and recreate it (now the certificate is installed) it might help?
Deleted the account and tried again. Still no joy. And I am using the FQDN.
I'm hopefully going to update to WM6 over the w/e so will try again then.
Thanks for your help.
Ah... I thought you might have already done the WM6 thing. It does resolve some issues like this.
I just flashed an 8500 to WM6 this week using the guides here and it went fine (as did exchange syncing).
Well...
Just upgraded to WM6 and still the same problem
Do you have access to the server itself? Or is it a work/hosted server?
If its your own server, you could try a fresh cert export (just in case yours is in the wrong format) by opening up an MMC and Add a SnapIn - Certificates, select Local Machine. In the Personal Folder, export the Root trusted cert that you are using for your SSL. Export it in the DEP x.509 cert format. Copy it to your PPC and
click on it to install it.
OK - went to server and my FQDN was in my root certs 3 times!
I exported all 3 and imported to phone and it's now happily syncing away.
Many thanks for all your help and your clear instruction s on how to export my certs. So simple even I could follow them.
Now running WM6 AKU 0.5 - pity you can't get it in English but I can understand American.
Thanks again for all your help.
Superb news.
Most people have problems with just one certificate!
That's what I like about this site - not only are people amaisingly helpful, but they seem genuinely pleased when a problem gets resolved
Thanks again
Hi folks,
sorry for being late, i think I can point you to the right direction:
As per Daniel Melanchton (german MVP for Mobile Devices), you need two certificates. One ist the cert for the server and one is the root cert. The root cert is needed for the mobile device checks also the origin of your cert (in german called "Zertifzierungstelle" e.g. Thawte). There's a perfect documentation floating around in the web, but it's only in available in german (called ex2k3_clientzugriff_1.wmv). He shows how to set up your mobile device and how to get the certs by exporting them from internet explorer using outlook web access.
Best regards,
tsfnet

Just a small correction
Daniel has never been MVP for mobile devices. He was MVP for Exchange Server and is now working for MS.
Bye
OK - so which one of you two is going to translate ex2k3_clientzugriff_1.wmv into English for us?
äääähhhhmmmmm,
i'll try to provide a pdf with screenshots and explanation if this would help. But this will take some time as i am in heavy business at the moment due to changing our erp-software at work.
He actually got it working about three days ago.

yep, i know, but it could be helpful for other users, couldn't it ?
I just love people tributing to this forum AFTER solving their problem and not just "hey, it works now, perfect, thanks and bye forever" (maybe that's too hard, i know a lot of users do contribute a lot and spend a lot of time after solving their problem).
We need to understand why it works now. Do you know the difference between a cert and a root cert ? If you know it, you don't run into the same problem. That's why i will provide a simple pdf about installing the needed certs on your mobile device for acceesing an exchange server with ssl.
up to now I used 'https://mail.domain.com' for outlook exchange mail but last week due to upgrades OWA access has been changed to 'https://mail.domain.com:12345/'. Surprisingly, when I tried to modify this on my HD2, the phone just ignores ':12345' so I cannot access mail. Can't find a solution. Anybody out there had the same problem and solved it? thanks.
Get them to change it back to 443
I can't guarantee it will work but you can make the change stick by editing the registry directly. Search your registry for mail.domain.com and add the port number there. I know it saves the data and it shows up in my Outlook Mail settings. I know it stops my mail from synching. I am not, however, going to change the port number on my exchange server to see it it will actually synch...
tks guys
cant do that xaccers.
AA, what you say sounds good. Whereabouts could that registry be? Im not so used to messing up with registries. Any info will help
Just search the registry for your mail.domain.com, it's the only entry.
just did it and now the number sticks but still wont work. I t just says 'connecting..' but does not. same as before
That's interesting. It sees the change and tries to use it but is unable to parse the difference.
For those not understanding the issue the ":12345" after the https://mail.mydomain.com is changing the port that the https protocol uses from the usual 443 to 12345. Normally, his HD2 requests service from the 443 port on his Exchange server and it works fine. His admin has changed the service port on the Exchange server to 12345 probably as a means of "hiding" his server, (security by anonymity isn't very good security btw). The unfortunate thing is the his HD2 is unaware of the ability to specify a different port in a URL so it attempts to create a connection to the literal URL instead of changing the service port in the request itself. DOH!
Sorry to tell you this mate, but it's a known issue that you can't change the port number that is used by exchange services in windows mobile. I'm guessing that you have web access with the owa.website so you're stuck with using that.
just made my day. sad to hear that.
have been searching for days now and could not find the answer, so that's it.
not even htc hotline nor my administrator, who told me that before changing the owa access they had tested with iphones and other with android and working perfectly. so now I have a brand new hd2 and have to access my mail via owa which I guess you will agree with me that is a bit messy/slow. nobody has heard of any update by changing rom or else??

I've actually got the latest official ROM on my phone and there's still no extra settings anywhere that allow you to specify a port.
thanks John and have you heard anything abt the possibility of android on this phone?

The beauty of Android is that you can dump the system apps (such as the default email app) and just download a new one from the market.
The email app that I use is the one that was supplied with HTC Sense, and that doesn't seem to have anywhere to enter a port number, but it may work with the port number specified in the server URL - I don't know.
Do some reading up and see if you can find an Android email app that allows you to use a custom port. All I can say for sure is that the one I've got on mine is at least as capable as the standard email app on WM.
