This looks pretty similar to the one I received OEM with my phone.
My experience has been that anything that works on one HTC device will work on others. I haved used headsets and chargers from various HTC phones on my G1 and I had no prob. Only headset that never worked was motorolla
I just received the headset adapters. They rock!! Listening to Paramore right now and I'm in total bliss. That's all.
Does the supposed "voice control" work at all?

Elaborate?
Pretty sure hes talking about the voice dialer app, or the search widget, tbh I don't know with the wired ones, never tried.
On my and my son's phone; when are talking to someone, they are complaining they can't hear us properly when using wired headsets with microphone. I've used 4 different headsets, all with the same results. 2 of them were cheap ones, 1 of them was an expensive pair. All with the same results on both phones.
People complain that it sounds like we are far away.
I had my son call me on his SGS2 using the headsets and I listened on both a Blackberry I have, and an Iphone. What it sounds like is when you say a word, the entire word doesn't come through the other end. For example: If you say the word "Doghouse" it might come on the other end as "oghouse" or "ghouse."
Almost like the phone is not translating analogue voice to digital sounds quick enough or completely. This has been tried in several coverage areas so I know its not that.
The problem is with both phones. Each phone has a different case. The problem existed before and after rooting. (Happened right out of the package)
I've used both Entropy and Siyah kernels. Also tried the SGS_InCall_Volume_Fix.
Anyone else having this problem? Also, If not; then what wired headset with mic. are you using?
Thank You in Advance!
ATT I777
Unnamed 2.2.1
Siyah 2.6
I had the same issue with CM 7.1 nightly 11 and my Scoche headset (made for iPhone, unfortunately). Great headphones, but horrible sound quality. I haven't tried the same headset on my phone that's now running UnNamedROM 2.2.1. Probably the same result.
Is noise cancellation disabled? You might want to try that out, but CM 7 doesn't have noise cancellation anyways... If only we had access to the service menu... there are settings in there to change it.

There it is. I'll try it tonight and see if it's better quality. Thanks sent to you!
I forgot to mention; I've tried with noise cancel on and off, and there was no difference. (Or noise suppression?)

Huh.. that is odd... I know how to fix it then, its a setting in the Service menu that changes the dB required to "activate" the microphone... but again, AT&T locked the Audio part of that menu...
I haven't had an issue..Use the Samsung headphones typically, and also some Skullcandy ones.
Yes. Same problem, with Hello Direct Ultralight headset. Audio output (mono, through the single ear speaker) is fine. Audio input via the microphone is not working. I'm using a 2.5 -> 3.5mm adapter but it has 3 conductors and probably is not the problem.
Phone has not been rooted... yet.
Any other suggestions appreciated...
Thanks
Tim
I use Bose MIE2 and also Klipsch S4A without any mic issue.

What's up with that? Even with headphones plugged in the notification sounds go through the external speaker?
Silliness.
Buuuuuuump no one?

I would like to know the answer to this as well, my previous HTC when headphones are plugged in all sounds including notifications went through them, yet the S3 sends notifications to the external speaker, surely this is a bug?
It's absurd and not the only Samsung phone that does it. The thing that strikes me as odd is there aren't many people that seem to care about it. Google searches hardly brings up **** and this thread has gotten like 60 views but 1 response...which is you with the same question.
My Galaxy Nexus didn't have this problem. Annoying as fuc-
i'm guessing most people put their phones to silent while listening to music. that's what i do.

That's ok, but when your phone is in your pocket how do you know if you have a text/email unless you put it on vibrate?
On the top screen of your phone you will see a small i which stands for notification, i dont know whats it called but the settings menu on top of your phone drag it down and click notifications then the letter i will disappear now all notifications will alert you normally via sound like call and texts.

oops i meant i put it to vibrate. however if u do this there will be a slight pause in the music when a notification comes in(i think it only applies to certain functions like sms. whatsapp nofs dont pause my music)
I can't believe no one cares about this... I still want to hear my notifications over my headphones... Work email, personal email, specific ringtones for individual calls and texts... the list goes on. I've owned Mostly HTC, but even my Palm Pre and older Sanyo phones were smart enough to mute the external speaker when connecting headphones.
Bizarre.
I don't know if this has been explained prior to my response. Notifications work fine over blue tooth.

The issue was never Bluetooth. The problem is, you can have you headphones plugged in while sitting in the library, and if you get a notification, it will blast the entire room. Similarly, if you are in your car, the notifications don't make it to your aux port, and also, if you use the aux port, Bluetooth will not play the audio simultaneously. That's crap. On CM-based ROMs this works just fine. Definitely not a hardware issue. Sure sucks for people who use hands free kits in their cars
Same issue here with the external speaker not being muted when earphones plugged in, and unlike previous comments, issue persists when using bluetooth. Currently using Omega v32.1.
This problem affects my Galaxy Note 2 as well. Wow. How does no one else care about this? I don't understand why people would put their phone on silent just because they are listening to music. CM10 sort of fixed this issue on my GS3, but I can't use that on the gn2 because of all the custom stylus integration.
It's definitely an android thing and I can't believe that in almost 2 years since it's been logged, no traction appears to have been made.
Did a quick search through the developer forums to see if anyone has made a mod, but couldn't find anything. Does anyone know, if one the many talented developers on XDA, have done anything here?
EDIT: Turns out there is an app already out there to solve this, but interesting that it's not standard in the OS.

SoundAbout barely works, FYI. I have had major issues after installing this. Sound cutting in and out just using the earpiece.

Yikes.. Might not use it then. Thanks for the feedback (will do a bit more searching to see if there are other apps that could help).

You could try SoundAbout, but as ScrapMaker states, it may cause issues with the sound cutting in/out using just the earpiece.
I wasn't going to try using it, but have over the last few days and it seems to work ok for me. Give it a go and see if it works (as I haven't been able to find anything else on the play store yet)...
I just got the galaxy note 2 yestersay and noticed the headphine issue today while working on the motorcycle. With the headohines on I can't hear the phone ring or notificationsn. what I hear instead is the music I'm listening to go mute the length of the ringing while anyone around me hears my ringing which comes off a little rude on my part and a bit annoying that it doesn't just ring through the headset.
I'm going over the settings and searching the Web like crazy but not finding an actual solution just work arounds about muting the ringer and/our putting it on vibe, neither of which is what I'm wanting or works for me.
I have seen a few T-Mobile unboxing of the One and none seem to include the unbranded headset. They look pretty good, and wish it came included. Anyone know why T-Mobile does not include it?
i'll let you know i should be recieving my HTC one today in the mail from Tmobile
This is true, I have mine and didn't really look for the headset but now that I look again it's not there.
My current headphones work somewhat-- the start/stop button works, but the volume does not.
It doesn't include them! But they are not the beats ones. I'm getting the nexus 4 ones, they're pretty nice and seem to sound ok

Damn that sucks.
confirm. does not include headsets. o well i use my jlabs one anyways lols
Hi, I'm planning to buy this phone but I've got a question.
Can you switch songs though holding down the volume up/down button while the phone is locked?
This is quite crucial to me, since my old Oneplus One got this feature but my current phone, the Honor 7X doesn't and it annoys me a lot e.g. while driving.
I'd be thankful if someone could test this for me since I didn't find any mentioning of this in the reviews I read/watched.
Thank you in advance :highfive:
Surely, there must be an app in PlayStore that can do this?

Probably not. I am AMAZED that pocket skip is still not standard.
But don't worry, first thing I will do when I get my Poco and unlock it is to make this mod (via Magisk probably so OTA is still simple), like I have always done in the past

Wait, That's sounds like too much work. Why don't you use Headphone buttons to change the songs. My ordinary headphones has only one button but I can still Single press to Play/Stop and Double press to change the songs. Surely there are better designed headphones that can do more?

What if headphones don't have any button at all ? (without mic headphones)
I almost never use headphones, but when I do, it's no problem to just look at my phone and choose the next song. The irritating part is that I simply can't do that while driving :silly:.

That's the case, I connect my phone to my car's stereo through aux (simple cord with no buttons) and place my phone down next to me. The most convenient way to switch songs while driving was to feel for the volume buttons on my phone and hold them down.
So I guess this phone can't do that natively. With my Honor 7X, some roms brought this feature with them. I think even flashing AOSP enabled this feature for me but I'm sticking with the default rom for the battery life.
Thanks for your answers and looking forward to a solution :fingers-crossed:
