hard reset - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 ROM Development

hi, i did a hard reset on my qtek 2020, of course after backing up all data, now after restoring, my sms folder is still missing, and also my inbox which was configured to rediffmailpro server is not restoring, the whole inbox folder i had backed up on my MMC card, where the folder still shows, i have redirected the store location of my inbox, yet the inbox shows empty, what can i do? and if nothing can be done now, can anyone suggest wat precautions to take in the future to ensure my sms does not get deleted?

How to reset / re-install the INBOX

Somewhere along the way my INBOX got corrupted. It will not send any SMS messages anymore.
I have done a hard reset and found it to be working but after I restored my previous backup it stopped again.
My question:
How can I re-create the folders and queue's the INBOX uses, without having to do a full re-install?

[Q] Problem with SMS History (3.14)

Hey guys...
I've got a new annoing problem with my HD2... (official Firmware)
I just updated my phone with the new 3.14 Firmware and restore my Data with spb-Backup... everything seems to work fine, BUT my HD2 won't save the sms history in the contacts now.
If I get a new sms I see it normally in the messaging tab, but if I want to answer in the message window of the contact it won't show ANY sms - not even my own sended ones.
The inbox menu in traditional mode works normally and shows any received sms.
Hope you understand me, my english is not the best.
Any ideas?
No ideas? I don't want to hardreset my phone again...
maybe backup of SMSes with PIM Backup, then deleting all messages and restore back could help?
I have the same problem on my hd2. If I switch to "traditional mode" The history is showing, but not in "conversation mode" (Don't know if that's what its called in English)
It happened after I updated the rom to the latest official HTC ROM. (3.14)
It's really annoying
happened to have the same problem today, tested PIM Backup, helped with mine:
1. install PIM Backup
2. backup only Messages
3 restore Messages:
- "Text Messages" checked, below that "Conversations" box unchecked (not sure if it's necessary), "Inbox" and "Sent Items" checked
- Message restore options: Delete all existing messages from the Database
4. soft reset

try repeating the above procedure with one addition - delete contents of Windows\Messaging folder after step 2,
I'm not sure if and how it affects stored email messages so it could be a good idea to make full backup first if you keep any important emails

I had the same problem. The problem is when you restore your messages using PIM Backup, 3.14 does not sense the messages at all. I personally think the new 3.14 loads sms's to another folder than before thus we can't see it under threaded but when you look at traditional it shows all the pervious messages meaning it might be in a sub-directory in the folder. Just an idea.
To my knowledge there is no way of getting it to show in all your messages. I would recommend just to delete all your messages and start from scratch or load another rom, maybe 2.07 or something.
I can speak only for myself, but for me PIM Backup + deleting files in Windows\Messaging folder works - tested it few times just to be sure.
On my device restoring the messages with PIM backup brings back files in this folder, and then SMS threads reapear.
It looks like if the SMS thread information was stored in all the files inside Windows\Messaging - I wonder if anyone could confirm this?
My messages folder is empty, and I also tried to delete all messages including the folder to see if the new messages would line up in conversation mode without restoring any messages, but it didn't help.
I'll try a hard reset once I've made a backup of everything except my messages. If that doesn't work I might consider downgrading the ROM.

I don't know, off the top of my head, if that will work. However, here are a lot of options to backup the PIM info (email, contacts, text and SMS messages, etc.) on your WM device in preparation for a Hard Reset.
If you do a search in the Windows Mobile Development and Hacking Forum for "pim backup" you will find many, many solutions.
In my opinion, 2 of the most popular (and useful) programs are:
- Microsoft's My Phone is a free service that allows you to backup all of you email, text messages, contacts, etc. (up to 200MB) to the web. you can them sync them all back to the device after you hard reset. It also allows you to schedule the backup so it is almost always up to date.\
- DotFred's PIM Backup tool allows you to backup your appointments, emails, SMS, etc. It also lets you do 2 things that MS My Phone does not... you can backup your call logs and speed dials as well (this is something My Phone does not do). It can also run on a schedule, but the backups are stored on your device (main memory or on the storage card) not on the web.
Cheers!

[Q] Help! HD2 gone to default after softreset.

Hello,
I was unable to find any thread speaking of my problem.
I made a softreset to my HD2, little red button on the back, this morning, and while loading, on the orange Windows screen it was saying "performing the phone for first use". I waited for a little while, and as it was taking too long and kept loading and loading, I took the battery out and removed the SDcard from the phone. After that it loaded pretty fast but now the phone looks like at the day of purchase.
It doesn't load or show any of the programs installed, contacts, messages. Nothing.
But through the file explorer it shows that all the old files are there. I mean the photos, program files and so. I don't know where the contacts and messages are stored.
It looks like the phone has the files but doesn't use them.
How do I make the pone go back to the files, and run all the soft?
Where are the Messages and the contacts are stored?
Please help me.
Messages and Contacts are stored in the Outlook database.
Try backing them up using PIMBackup, then hard reset your phone and restore it.
If you could just be more specific.
Where do I find Outlook Database? Can I still back them if they already don't show in my phone?

I assume you mean that your programs and information are on the SD card, since it appears that your phone did a hard reset, which clears the internal memory. The programs won't work because WM requires one to reinstall the programs in order to build the registry entries and copy any needed files to the \windows directory on the phone.
Your data files on the SD card should be fine.
The pocket outlook information is stored in the pim.vol file in the root directory, but if it hard reset those files are gone unless you backed them up. I use MS MyPhone, which automatically syncs my stuff every night at 2300.
After you get any files off of the main memory (if possible), remove the SD card and do a real hard reset - by removing the battery while it was doing initial setup, you may have stopped the OS from installing needed support programs.
Good luck, and be sure and come back and let us know how it is going.
You seem to be right, as on the machine itself there are no files later then the begginning of 2010.
Is it possible that the phone made a hard reset by itself?
Does it mean that there is no way to restore the lost data?
I have made a backup in RescoBackup a couple of month ago, but I added a lot of new numbers to contacts during the last two weeks.
Is there a chance they were saved on the SD card?
I have a pim.vol file, but how do I check if it has the right data in it? in wordpad it shows jibrish.
Thanks in advance.

Unless you backed it up to the SD card, to MS outlook (via Activesync) or to some online backup, sorry, it is gone.
If you have a pim.vol file from before, just copy it to the root directory of the phone (not the SD card). Note that you will ALWAYS have this file in the root directory; it is automatically generated on a hard reset. You will need to have a copy that was backed up.
I highly suggest that you take a couple of moments and make a backup plan for the future. Your phone may have a hardware issue that caused the hard reset; it is not easy to get the HD2 to hard reset, and it should never do it automatically. So you may find yourself looking for those backup files again.
Well, big thanks to all who tried to help.
My phone probably did a hard reset by itself. Something to be noted by HD2 owners.
Lucky me, I made a backup a month ago with Resco Backup v. 2.01. I have to say that the software didn't work at all as expected.
It froze every time I tried to restore the phone data. So I restored it in small portions.
And in about an hour I got my phone back (as it was a month ago).
After all big thanks to RescoBackup tool too.
Good day to everybody.

contact list problem and possible solution

Lately I had been having a problem with my contacts and messages, that I've seen mentioned on here a few times and I seem to have fixed it on my phone. Btw, I am stock, rooted, TWRP, S-ON. The symptoms I was having were:
20-30 seconds to open text messages
entering names to call/text/email would not auto complete
my "people you may know" screen would come up blank
my "linked contacts" screen would come up blank
I tried clearing cache and data on all the contacts storage apps, and wiping cache and dalvik cache, removing my google account and unsyncing facebook account, then wiping all contacts and resyncing them. None of these helped.
Thinking that possibly there was some kind of corruption in the contact database or app, or that I possibly caused something when I restored texts or contacts with Ti Backup at some point, what I did was create a new Ti Backup of Contacts Storage, and a Nandroid just to be safe, then I used Ti's Extract from Nandroid Backup feature to restore Contacts Storage (app + data) from the very first Nandroid Backup I made after I installed TWRP. I had to relink some contacts but everything seems to be working just fine now. From what I can tell, the app version on Contacts Storage hasn't changed, so I think it's a database or config problem.
Hope this helps someone, or leads someone to find the root cause and fix for those who may not have a good backup to go to. Good luck.
I'll need to try that
Update
I backed up the app in TB, wiped the apps data in TB and then restored the apps data again in TB. It helped with the contacts but the messages were slow to load on a few of the threads.
