question bout upgrading - MDA, XDA, 1010 General

greetings!
i presently have a
xda 1 here in the philippines
rom version: 3.14.17 ENG
radio version: 4.16
protocol version: 32S54
my question is, is it advisable or necessary to upgrade my rom version to the new version found at 02 official site? i already downloaded it but i haven't installed it yet.
i've learned in the forums the golden rule that DON'T TOUCH THE RADIO VERSION AS LONG AS IT WORKS. so i will not ask bout the radio version anymore.
please help me...thanks!

if you can extract the ROM upgrade files only, then it's OK to go to any WM2003 ROM

my device is only WM2002. does it matter? is it ok to upgrade the ROM to the latest version 3.20.06?

I upgraded mine last night - there are a few subtle differences.

ROM 3.20 is PPC2002 not a WM2003 ... you can upgrade to 4.01.16 if you still want WM2003 ROM
Once again, don't touch the RSU!! ... play with the ROM only

thanks guys!

sorry guy's another question cause for everybody's info im just a newbie and i'm scared of messin up my phone. anyway, i've read problems with the synchronization or restoring data on the phone after upgrading the ROM here in the forums. will i just follow the steps given by myxda.com? or i really need to back up my ROM to an SD still?
sorry guys just wanna make sure. thanks!

it's strongly recommended to backup the current ROM to SD card ... I mean the backup option in the bootloader menu not the xbackup utility

Original o2 XDA II 1.03 USA ROM available somewhere?

Hi all!
Well, I have a problem. I am new to upgrading my XDA II, and I blindly jumped into updating my ROM without fully understanding what I was getting myself into. Shame on me, I know. I didn't back up my original ROM, and now I want to go back to the original ROM. Here is what I currently have:
ROM version: 1.52.00WWE
ROM date: 10/23/03
Radio version: 1.06.01
Protocol version: 1337.16
ExtROM version: 1.52.83
I want to go back to the original ROM because I don't have time to reinstall and reconfigure all of my software, but I do have an xBackup on my SD card from before my upgrade. I want to downgrade to the 1.03 USA ROM and then restore from this backup.
I would really appreciate any help anybody can give me. I've been searching for a total of like 10 hours and I can't figure this out. Thanks in advance, everyone; I appreciate your time.
PS> This is the version I want to go back to:
ROM: 1.03.00 USA
ROM DATE:09/24/03
RADIO:1.05.14
PROTOCOL:1337.14
Well, if anyone figures this out, please let me know; in the mean time, I've decided to just reinstall all of my software.
If you want downgrade to USA 1.03 then you need to have the 1.03 rom on SD CArd the bootloaded your XDA then only can downgrade, but not sure it work, if you need the 1.03 rom I can send it to you. You must remember you upgrade then go downgrade is difficle.
Thanks anyway, but I've got my XDA II back to where I want it.
[Terence]
From the above you mention you have the original ROM, (1.03) but do you have the Radio and Ext_ROM roms? I'm trying to fully revert back from:
R: 1.52.00WWE
G: 1337.16
D: 1.06.01
Ext: 1.52.83
Back to...
R: 1.05.12
G: 1337.12
D: 1.03.00 USA
Thanks,
Could anyone post all of the original USA 1.03 ROM, radio, etc. components for O2 on this thread ?
Thanks

Please tell me where to get 1.03 rom.
Thank you in advance.
Why a downgrade?
I wanted to upgrade my software.
Can you tell me why are you going to downgrade it?
Did you have any problems?
Thanks for the answer,
Uros
Hi Urosh,
Just wanted to confirm the following problem that happens sometime since upgrade:
1. Radio signal delay time longer.
2. GPRS connecting also take loger time.
3. Sometime not alarm, though soft reset before turn off.
4. Sometime phone not ringing.
Hope that anyone can help me to confirm this problem.
Thank you,
[Urosh] If you are asking me why I want to downgrade, it is because I am experiencing problems with phone signal and battery life. The whole, long story is here...
http://www.pocketpcpassion.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=38598&perpage=15&pagenumber=1
If you read it you’ll see others seem to be running fine... It’s up to you, but the upgrade doesn't really seem to 'fix' anything... so its kinda like "if it ain't broke, don't fix it!"
Alternately, if you still really want to upgrade you should make sure you get ALL the ROM backed up first, so that you can return.

Upgrading my XDAII unit.

Hi, I'm new here and I haven't tried to upgrade my XDAII unit.
I have a few question regarding this.
1. Will this void my GLOBE warranty? I have a 2yrs contract with GLOBE and currently I'm in the middle of it (1yr).
2. How to determine the current version of my unit?
ROM version: 1.66.00WWE
ROM date: 02/20/04
Radio version:1.08.00
Protocol version: 1337.18
ExtROM version: 1.66.165
3. When I upgraded my ROM would it be permanent? Meaning everytime I hard reset my unit it will install the new ROM?
4. Can I return to my original ROM?
5. Can I backup my current ROM or is there a downloadable version of my ROM (default ROM for XDAII)?
6. Which is stable 2003se or 2005?
Thanks.
P.S. other question will arise. Sorry if this sound stupid but pls understand that I'm new here.
1. Will this void my GLOBE warranty? I have a 2yrs contract with GLOBE and currently I'm in the middle of it (1yr).
Yes, when you flash your rom with a other rom than the original then your warranty is over. So upgrade is at your own risk :!:
2. How to determine the current version of my unit?
ROM version: 1.66.00WWE
OS version
ROM date: 02/20/04
Release date of Rom
Radio version:1.08.00
This is the version of your phone unit
Protocol version: 1337.18
Don't no
ExtROM version: 1.66.165
This contains additional software from your provider.
Can be unlocked and changed. How check this forum
3. When I upgraded my ROM would it be permanent? Meaning everytime I hard reset my unit it will install the new ROM?
Yes, so make a backup of youre original one:idea:
4. Can I return to my original ROM?
Yes, it's possible. If you have it or backed it up
5. Can I backup my current ROM or is there a downloadable version of my ROM (default ROM for XDA II)?
Don't no if there is a specific Rom for youre device. Check the site if GLOBE. Otherwise search this forum for backup software
6. Which is stable 2003se or 2005?
I think WM2003SE is more stable i know because i use it.
I tried WM2005 but when TomTom 5 (navigation software) was not working at that moment i downgraded to WM2003SE.
But the choice is all yours
I don't know everything so maybe there are others who can check my answers. And correct me. I don't want to tell you the wrongs things
Thank you very much [email protected].
welcome kabayan!
warranty????
how about saving(backup) your original rom...ha?
i am smart postpaid user...i reflashed/upgrade/downgrade my device many times.
when i have a probs with my device i just go back to the original rom and going to the smart center with no probs...
EASY!
why is it voiding the warranty...you are only just tweaking the software not the hardware...there original rom is too buggy, they don't have any upgrade or patch to this probs....only one solution is to upgrade from this forum...
:x
Hi kabayan.
Nice to hear from someone closer to me. LOLz.
I have read all you post and its greate. You deserve a two (more) thumbs up. Anyway, I have read in you post that there are too many patch needed. Can I have the version on the current stable ROM you have and all its related files.
One more thing, there are 4 software to be patch right? ROM, Radio, Protocol, ExtROM. Correct me if I'm wrong, based from the above post. I can upgrade to MW2003se my ROM, Radio, and Protocol then have a different ExtROM?
Does the ExtROM contains all the default application installed in the unit when we hard reset it?
Thanks Kabayan.

[Q] What type of HD2 is this?

Hi this is my first post on this forum, I have read alot and i tried to run android on my HD2 but i found out that my radio was too low for the requirements.
My question is if I update my firmware from HTC itself... will it update my radio aswell? I don't know what rom to download from HTC as there are so many.
Here are some few details of my HD2:
OS Version: 5.2.21864
Manila Version: 2.5.19202525.0
ROM Version: 1.43.405.1 (70124) WWE
Rom date: 10/26/09
Radio Version: 2.04.50.22_2
Protocol Version: 15.26.50.07U
Flash size: 512mb
How can I run android on this phone and how can I get an official update as I have no trust in unofficial updates.
THANK YOU
its a regular hd2, or a telstra hd2. either way, none of the official updates for it contain a high enough radio for android..
where did people get the stock roms then? and whats the best way to get android on my phone by just running it on SD and how can i just patch just the radio and is it only the radio that needs to get patched?
they get stock roms from the thread in rom development called "leo official roms". but as i said, i'm pretty sure android needs a radio of 2.10.50 or so to work best, and the x.x.50 radios come from the tmous roms, so you would need to hspl to flash those radios..
your best option rather than asking here is to go read the android section. there are a few "how to"s in there will tell you all about it.

[Q] back up stock rom from HTC HD2

i have been search on here and on some other sites for some long time to find a way to back up my stock rom installed on my HTC HD2 ..... but everybody is talking about cooking rom and backing up contacts or so .....
is there any way to back up my stock rom from my HTC HD2 before doing anything to my phone??
i just wanna keep a back up of the original rom before doing anything .... can anybody help me?
just download it, a million times easier.
look here [REF]Leo Official ROMs
i downloaded this ver from HTC site but this is very old ver ....... i got 1.66.... i checked the difference between the ver i have now and this one on HTC site 1.48 there is too many fixes and updates in the ver i got not in the 1.48 .... so im looking for some way to backup the rom i have now so i keep the latest official rom

in your device check the software version and the radio version
and give it to me... i'll give you the link from where to download the same rom
rom version 1.66.415.4 (76641) WWE
radio version 2.07.51.22_2
there .....
its really strange that i cant find any of the great developers and programes on this site to help me in my problem
as it was stated in another threaduntil noe ther is no way to "extract" or "backup" an entire rom .
I perfectly see what you mean, its a problem for me too: i modded my 1.66 stock rom so heavily that it would take days to reconstruct my perfect running hd2 in case an update to new 3version stock or flash of cooked rom fails at all and/or dissatisfies me.
then i want to go back to the previous perfect state by just flashing my cutomized stock rom without any additional hazzle
Sashimi won't do this, no other app won't do this..........
Even Spb backup won't do this as I had to learn the hard way since reflashing seems to be not the same as just upgrading a rom .........
some things happen in the rom that we still do not fully understand ......
I have the same concern as winner1. I want try out some custome roms, but before that it would be nice to have some sort of backup of my stock rom.
troed mentioned there is no to "extract" or "backup" an entire rom. So there is the option of downloading a stock rom.
As a matter of fact I am a total noob and I have no idea on what i must to pay attention to. Could someone help me to find a download of my stock rom, please?
Despite there is no hardware-branding, I don't know if my rom is software-branded. It would be nice to have a branded rom if there was one.
I bought my HTC HD2 from the service provider Three in Austria in August this 2010.
Here are some additional information about my phone:
OS-Version: 5.2.21869 (21869.5.0.82) / WM 6.5 Pro
Manila-Version: 2.5.19211619.0
ROM-Version: 1.66.407.1 (76641) GER
ROM-Date: 01/11/10
Radio-Version: 2.07.51.22_2
Protocoll-Version: 15.32.50.07U
Thank you for your effort and time.

The fact that your rom version is 1.66 tells us that although the phone is on 3, the rom isn't rom locked, so you use default HTC roms, not branded roms. (Which would have a 1.7x version)
Unless i am mistaken, this means you need the 1.66 HTC GER stock rom, which (amazingly) can be found on teh HTC germany website under support, pick your phone, downloads, rom updates., or, as per post two of this thread, the official roms thread, first post, first link, 1.66 folder, and teh one you want is called
RUU_Leo_HTC_GER_1.66.407.1_Radio_Signed_15.30.50.0 7U_2.06.51.07_Ship.exe
If you download it from teh htc website, you can confirm its the correct one by using your serial number, because it wont let you download it if its not correct.

[Q] Help upgrading to T-Mobile_HD2_MR_Software_3.14

that's nonsense, you can flash any rom over any rom so long as it is a compatible rom for your phone. That's just T Mobile giving instructions for the lowest common denominator.
