i presently have a
xda 1 here in the philippines
rom version: 3.14.17 ENG
radio version: 4.16
protocol version: 32S54
my question is, is it advisable or necessary to upgrade my rom version to the new version found at 02 official site? i already downloaded it but i haven't installed it yet.
i've learned in the forums the golden rule that DON'T TOUCH THE RADIO VERSION AS LONG AS IT WORKS. so i will not ask bout the radio version anymore.
please help me...thanks!
if you can extract the ROM upgrade files only, then it's OK to go to any WM2003 ROM
my device is only WM2002. does it matter? is it ok to upgrade the ROM to the latest version 3.20.06?
I upgraded mine last night - there are a few subtle differences.

ROM 3.20 is PPC2002 not a WM2003 ... you can upgrade to 4.01.16 if you still want WM2003 ROM
Once again, don't touch the RSU!! ... play with the ROM only

sorry guy's another question cause for everybody's info im just a newbie and i'm scared of messin up my phone. anyway, i've read problems with the synchronization or restoring data on the phone after upgrading the ROM here in the forums. will i just follow the steps given by myxda.com? or i really need to back up my ROM to an SD still?

it's strongly recommended to backup the current ROM to SD card ... I mean the backup option in the bootloader menu not the xbackup utility

You should really search for the postings here. DCS has done a great job in putting down his painstaking effort in upgrading the ROMs.
I have merely put all the related postings in a common area so that lazy me can get it all in one area.... :wink:

I followed instruction to try for version upgrade.
But failed when I call latest upgrade exe as Language version is wrong.
so I couldn't upgrade
I don't mind to use English version (Except is Traditional Chinese version), please give me advice to do it.

I'm not export but as I can see from your information you have post your RADIO is 2.05.51.05_2
I'm not 100% sure but with this RADIO you can't update! I hope I'm wrong!!

Basically you need to install HSPL and then flash desired rom of your choice.

Welcome on XDA sir, (Member from 2005 and 1st post)
The most easiest is just to update your radio; Any radio => 2.08.50 are compatible with Android.
Steps that you need to do:
- Install HSPL: (HSPL thread)
- Install a radio: (Radio thread)
How to do:
Or if you don't have a branded device you can upgrade your OS/manila/Radio version by installing the latest Stock ROM 3.14

i have hust got my hd2 back from repair. i see in bootloader that the spl is spl-3.03.0000 and i can't HSPL it. i kow they have replaced the PCB

SPL 3.03.0000 is the latest SPL version that came across with the latest stock ROM 3.14 sir.
And like you have discover already SPL 3.03.0000 isn't compatible with HSPL.
But, in case of you need it, you can downgrade your SPL version by installing a previous stock ROM.

Not normal; I have upgrade downgrade several times and each time my SPL version changed.
Just to be sure, when you downloaded the stock ROM from the HTC webpage, did you use your SN? (normally yes, otherwise it's difficult to install) and witch previous stock ROM do you use?

Not totally agree with you sir; there are still custom ROM's who aren't base on stock 3.14 so he need to change (in case of ...)

I upgrade my HD2 to 3.14 , SPL 3.03.0000 . I downloaded this ROM from HTC site .
Right now no chance to upgrade to any cooked ROM or Android .
Is it possible to downgrade to the original ROM which was 1.48 ?
I downloaded it from shipped-roms .
Any help needed .

You can install custom ROM's over stock ROM 3.14 but you need to use SSPL_Ruu and not HSPL. >>> read more
Android don't have problems with stock ROM 3.14 except NAND, because it need HSPL (the one who isn't compatible with SPL 3.03.0000)
But in this case just install your previous stock ROM 1.66

My previous stock ROM was 1.48. If I install and downgrade to it :
1- No problem would be on HD2 ?
2- Custom ROM or Android would be ok to install ?

1) No, there would be no problems on your HD2
2a) Custom Rom's will work (Don't forget to install HSPL) and Upgrade you're radio; the Radio of stock ROM 1.48 is really old and bad.
2b) Android can only run if you updated your Radio to radio 2.08.50 or newer. (minimum required is Radio 2.08.50. recommended is Radio 2.12.50 ore even Radio 2.15.50)

Give me your actual stock Rom version. There are so much stock Rom's. depending of your aria / branded or not / Language.
So with your actual stock Rom, I can know witch one you are looking for.

Can I ask how you used that information to give him the orignal Rom? I am currently running a Artemis rom and as I remembered I did it using the goldcard method. I just want to remove the SPL install HSPL but it usually reboots. Do you need the serial number part? any help is appreciated
Nevermind found out it was a vodaphone rom needed.
