Hi Techies, I have just bought a 2nd hand XDA II which was locked to O2. I used the unlocking program listed on this website to unlock it to all networks. However when I am attempting to charge the phone in the cradle provided, the phone resets itself once removed and loses all the information I have stored on it, including Email Accounts, Connections etc so I have to start from scratch again re-building it. Can anyone tell me how to stop the phone from doing this ? Also, is there a way of changing the OS from the O2 OS to Orange ? I tried the orange Website for the latest Rom upgrade but when I tried to install it, it came up with a Country Error. My XDA 2 Details as follows :
Rom Version : 1.72.00WWE
Radio Version : 1.17.00
Extended Rom Version : 1.72.181
Many Thanks
Hey, mate! You can go to WM2003SE( v.2.02, 0.06, or 2.20 CHS>ENG).
So you don't need to change your Operator ID to Orange or another.

About the restart - I don't know.
WM6 Essentials project DISCONTINUED due to lack of patience with idiots
ROM you have been waiting for. Clean, stable and fast.
This ROM was the reason for ending my previous project with Vlodeck. I started to make it few weaks ago, the day I notticed that clean WM6 has leaked MS labs. I grabbed it and started cooking, throwing all previous progress away. And now, I do not regret.
ROM you have here is the most clean thing you have seen on Charmer. I hope it's also the fastest and the most stable one. All packages that were added to privode aditional functions as camera, mms and others were doublechecked for unnecessary files and registry entries before they were gently inserted inside, tuned and approved.
I tried to remove all possible bugs, but there are few of them that I wasn't able to solve yet:
v. 000.5b WM6 Essentials known bugs
- for the first time after startup, it's sometimes impossible to activate HTC Black theme correctly, switch to Windows Mobile Green, then HTC Black applies correctly (probably tsk file issue)
- power patch correct application is still necessary
- system does not remember word completition set by user - it remembers default settings after reset (defaultly switched off)

Unlock your device, you will avoid problems with flashing and it makes flashing much safer and easier
Unlocking your device brings more comfort and safety. You will never more need to download aditional files - files I'm providing will be enough. It's also almost impossible to totally brick unlocked device - there's allways a way back (if bootloader is not damaged, of course). Locked devices has problems with some common recovery procedures like SD card image flash. If you have locked device, you have a great chance to spend your money to a service company for such simple thing like unlocking is...do it yourself NOW.
Here is the working guide:
http://en.pdamobiz.com/en/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=437&PN=1
Excellent flashing guide for czech users is available here: http://mda.force17.net, made by Trash. Czech translation of unlocking procedure is here: http://www.ce4you.cz/forums/view_topic.asp?t=24991
This ROM is provided AS IS, with no warranties from me, xda-developers server or other parties. Use it at your own risk. Use it only if you know what are you doing.
If you do not like it, don't use it. Use another one, freely modify this one, do anything you want - but do not bother me with stupid begging like "can you add total commander in this rom" - I can, but I will never do it. The same with HTC X-button, backup apps and other useless but popular junk.
Post non-technical suggestions and ideas here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=314776
Let's keep this thread clean with the stuff that's only technically relevant.
PROBLEMS
If somebody has problem others never seen, he:
1) uses some 3rd party software. if I'm asking for this, report ALL 3RD PARTY SOFTWARE, not just one you thing has something to do with error. report all
2) his obscure extrom was executed and some untested cabs, often for other systems, were installed. PREVENT EXTROM EXECUTION even if you think it's harmless.
3) he is using smoe uncommon accessories (gps, handsfree, a2dp.....). Report this
4) his device is damaged. throw it away.
We, charmer owners, are in a big advantage: all devices are the same. No MB revisions, no G3/4 problems.
Common debug procedures if you have an error:
1) try to look if others has the same issue.
2) if not, hardreset device and try if error is still present BEFORE YOU INSTALL ANY OTHER APP
3) if this issue seems to be application sdpecific, install JUST THIS ONE APP and try it. be sure you are installing latest build of your app
4) flash latest official ROM and try your app
5) flash WM6 ROM again and repeat procedures 1 - 3
Previous steps are leading to discover if this is clear system error or is related to any 3rd party app. You will clearly see if it's ROM or application issue. If it's hardware problem, it's harder to say...
If it's ok after HR or new flash, perform following steps to check:
1) leave all settings as they are in defaults (including local settings, timezone etc)
2) if it's app specific, install this app. if not, skip this step.
3) perform step-by-step check: change one thing you usualy do, softreset device and check behaviour (eg. change timezone, softreset and try)
So you will discover hidden error dependencies. Sometimes you will get really surprised what can cause errors...
Hope this simple guide will help you to analyze your charmer errors and will help me to get rid of strange questions...
Error [222]: Device Not Responding
Hi, first of all, many thanks for your job.
I have a problem as soon as I star.
I run ROMUpdateUtility_NoID.exe and when trying to connect to my PDA I get the following error message: ERROR [222]: DEVICE NOT RESPONDING.
My Charmer is connect through the USB connection and activesync is connected.
Anyone has any idea on how I can solve this problem (I´ve tried with other USB ports but nothing... :-( )
Thanks in advance for your help.
For activesync troubleshooting, see http://www.htcamerica.net/support/8525/troubleshooting-guide.html
First, hardreset your charmer. During the meantime, reset your computer - do not connect charmer untill your pc is restarted...hope it helps. You may also try to reinstall activesync - or try it from another computer (it's not necessary to setup activesync partnership to perform rom upgrade)
No booting after update !!
Hello,
i have one question :
I had the wm6 rom : ver 004.4 -=- CHARMER WM6 WWE ROM by vlodeck & nocturne installed on my charmer.. worked fine. No Problems. Today i saw that there is this new one "WM6 Essentials". I flashed my charmer with this new rom and flash method 2 (i also used method 2 for the old wm6 rom). Everythink was ok but after hard reset my charmer stuck at the very first splash screen ( This one where the IPL, SPL and OS Number is beeing displayed). The Phone just did not go on. After another hard reset -> same problem.
I then had lots of problems to get my charmer working again... all the old (even official) rom updates didnt work. But at last i downloaded an obviously newer (than mine) AKKU 3.3 from t-mobile site and was able to flash the device with that one. Now the question : Is it possible that it didnt work because i did not downgrade to an official wm5 rom before upgrading to that new wm6 or do you think that i should not give it a new try because it seems to be another problem ?
many thanks for your answer(s)
If you want flash other WM6 and you have WM6 you *MUST* first downgrade to WM5 and finally flash WM6.
The most successful method has always been to install an official wm5 rom before trying another wm6 rom.
pjam
many thanks for your fast answers.
i tryed it again after downgrading to the official wm5 and now it works fine.
After the flash and saying "Congratulation you flashed it" it died. There goes my charmer to waranty again....
WM5

NEW version is out, released 21:22 GMT+1
New ROM version is out...
Hello Mr. Nocturne.op.15. IS IT REALLY WORK ON MY QTEK S100?
No, this ROM is working only on charmer and also on microwave ovens. Put charmer inside oven, turn it on to max power and wait until image download from charmer to oven is completed (this is indicated by battery explosion). Enjoy nice pieces of hardware all around your kitchen, they are WM6 powered.
Wrong
This didn't work on my microwave oven at all. I have a Daewoo microwave oven and it is white. All that happens when I try to flash the rom (on full power) is that there is a strange smell and my Charmer stops working. There are sometimes some sparks.
The microwave now won't get past inital boot loading - there is a big while light and I have a TMobile screen and there are pink squares all over the microwave.
Thanks a lot nocturne and vlodeck - I now have a WM6 microwave but the softbuttons don't work properly and they are very hot to touch. And can I have a German version please?
nocturne.op.15!!!! you bastardo! me charmer no work! it smell not good.
littld: I doubt it, there will be a german translation unless someone from germany wants to do it, go ahead
Isn't it possible to use an original German O2 XDA Orbit WM6 and add the charmer drivers / reg entries to it?
Is there anything else to do?
members.htc.com ->
RUU_Hermes_O2_DE_3.54.207.2_6275_1.47.00.00_108_Ship.exe
Im using O2 Zinc.
When I up rom, I thought it's ok. But when the process bar completed at 100%, the install Wizard stopped. I had waiting for .... more than 1 hour but..... Its still "doin' nothing".
Can any one help me to repair it???
its so "dead"!
You can usually recover from a bad flash by doing a hard reset. At the very least, you should be able to get it back to bootloader mode.
If hard reset works, great. Just remember to charge your battery fully before flashing again. If hard reset at least gets you to the bootloader screen (tricolor, shows IPL/SPL, and when USB is attached, shows that), turn the phone OFF, charge the battery fully (preferably on an AC charger), and then try to flash it.
If none of these work, I have to ask you some potentially embarrassing questions, like: Did you use HardSPL or SoftSPL? Are you abso-friggin-lutely sure you have a G4? What ROM are you trying to load (and does it have IPL/SPL included)? What condition is the battery in? Have you ever had problems with the USB connector? Did you try flashing via bluetooth, Wifi, or some other method that has been strongly recommended against?
One last check: Wizards are also known as: Also known as Qtek 9100 / I-mate K-JAM / MDA Vario / O2 XDA Mini S / SPV M3000 / Cingular 8125 / T-Mobile MDA / Dopod 838 / VPA compact II
(...notice there's no Zinc in this list? Making you nervous? It would me!)
Open your battery compartment, and tell us what the model number is...it'll be under the battery, right above the FCC ID number and the SKU symbol. For example, mine is WIZA100.
My O2 Atom Life got a problem "automatically turn off it self when low battery" and if I try to turn on , it will shut down again while booting Windows ( Windows - Splash Screen )
By this case , people say it was cause of Battery and need to change a new battery to solve the problem.
So, I brought a new battery , but the problem still left ...
later I once had changed my SIM CARD to my other mobile . After , I tried to turn on my O2 atom life and it was turn on "completely" without shutting down while booting Windows. Also the "automatically turn off it self when low battery" is not occur when I am not insert SIM CARD
So , in conclude , No any problem occur when I'm not insert SIM CARD
Would anyone please tell me What the cause of this? ... Hardware of Software or how can I fix it?
- Thank you very much for every answer -

You mean the problem was fixed when you inserted a different SIM card?...that's strange...have you tried reflashing your phone and tried using the same "bad" SIM?

No reset below 70% energy
I have the same problem. Thanks to your discovery i am sure that it is a bug in the radio firmware. Seems that there are different radios ,because not all users of this device have that problem. For me, if i have to do a reset, for installing software or so, i switch the device into flight mode, and then i can do a reset even at 20% of energy !!! If the device hangs for some reason, try to reach the Comm-manager through the hardware-button "Start-Menu" to switch the phone off. If that doesn´t work, remove the SIM-card, restart your device, switch to flight mode (works without SIM-card inside) and then insert the card again. This last solution is not very comfortable, but in case of emergency it is rather useful.
My radio-firmware-number is AL1_KLNC2340_080121_RS001
Hopefully someone will write a new radio firmware without that lousy bug and tell us how to update our beloved AL.
Greetings from Germany

If the problem is radio firmware you may have to flash your AL with an official ROM at O2 site. Have your AL flashed, so that you can also flash it with WM6.5. in case you want it.

I guess Atom Life is an extremely poorly built phone.
The reason of rebooting is the phone drawing too much power and it shuts down.
Without sim card, the 3G / mobile function will certainly draw up lots of power.

Maybe the phone function draws a lot of energy. But after rebooting the battery has lost around 2 or 3% of energy. I think this is normal and not booting below 70% must have other reasons, for example wrong recognition of the battery status, and that must be (i think so) a false parameter in the radio firmware (or in the startup sequence of the ROM?).

due to the bad battery and freezing of the phone, I have given up the atom life and get myself a touch HD. I do know that some of the revision of atom life would be better..

You should've upgraded your device's radio into AL1_KLNC2340_080121_RS001 before flashing, mate.
i did hardreset for my atom life, or maybe change your battery with the new one and than do hardreset...good luck...

Greetings too you all,
I have purchased HTC HD2 device on September 2010 in Poland from Orange network. A week ago I have "finally" upgraded to latest official ROM from HTC2.
My current device details after update are:
SPL-3.03.0000
OS : 5.2.21913 (21913.5.0.94)
Manila: 2.5.20181527.0
ROM: 3.14.479.2 (04666) WWE
ROM date: 10/04/10
Radio: 2.15.50.14
Protocol: 15.42.50.11U
I have a serious problem. My device even when returned to default settings (holding VOL UP and DOWN when switching on) or re-flashed again with same ROM, like to hang quite a lot during the day. Sometimes it works entire day without hang up then hangs unexpectedly or restarts. When restarted it might even hang at white HTC logo screen without the red font versions list appearing, or moments after I type in PIN. Sometimes it restart just moments after I type PIN in, or minutes after working - or hangs. I help myself by using the force-restart button near battery or by removing battery. I suppose it is ROM issue? I do not want to go back to previous official ROM - I had different bugs with that one, and it was in Polish language, what I truly disliked.
I could try very stable ROM and I need your help and instructions how to do it in such a way that I can always go back to all my original settings (if I have to give device back on warranty). I really don't want a screw up so I kindly ask to guide me here through unofficial flashing process, choice of new ROM and troubleshooting my crazy HD2.
my HD2 also behave like this (latest 3.14 WWE ASIA ROM). but i thought it was because i flashed Artemis v43 ROM. i flashed the official ROM again to see if it will restart itself but after few hour & soft reset for several times it works just fine. But when i flashed Artemis v43 & after 2 days of usage it start to soft reset & hang at HTC start screen.
before i read your post i was really sure the Artemis v43 ROM was the cause of this, now im not sure maybe have to flash the official 1.66 WWE again if it keeps restarting itself.
Wow, thanks for your reply. Now I am in check-mate. Because I have researched a lot about Artemis #44, thought it will solve my problem. Now I am not that sure. So what is causing these often hang ups and restarts? You know, couple of days ago after I re-flashed latest official ROM again and I was going through "first use" screens, typing back all my accounts in - it hanged again... restart, and again, again. Fortunately it works without hangs since yesterday. I have this "theory" that subscription PIN locked SIM cards are the issue here. I have changed my SIM card free-of-charge already, however the problem persist. However I took pre-paid SIM from Orange too, not PIN locked, placed it into my phone, and I was able to set up my phone correctly, customize settings and then switched cards back to Orange MIX (something like subscription) SIM card.
I really don't know what to do next. One might say - go back to old-school ROM
Edit:
Firstly I will try to re-flash original latest ROM for my phone S/N.
Secondly I will try Artemis v. #44 (Melody)

if the phone is new, forget trying to fix it, get it replaced.
Issue has been resolved by HTC repair workshop. After my HTC mainboard was replaced everything is fine and my device has not hanged even once since then. I am running stock ROM now.
