XDA 2 --- Serial v1.06 error ---- - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 ROM Development

Hi, there are laods of posts about the error i am recieving. I know now for example it isnt an error but Bootloader Mode. This happened because i tried updating the rom. I know no i had v 1.66 so i didnt even need to. damn damn damn. But anyway I cant be bothered sending it back so was wondering if any1 has the rom backup on an spare sd card i can either buy of them of you can send it out to me through the post and i will return the SD card same day i recieve it after mending my phone and as a gud will offer i will send a £10 note back with the sd card. Please try an make it a 32mb sd card as i dont wanna be responsible if it gets lost etcc. 32mb cards are cheap. Please dont think i am trying to get a free sd card. I just really need to sort my phone out fast..
Please sum1 help me, my gf id going spare that i cant txt her. Doesnt bother me like, i get a bit of peace with a gud excuse.

Matthew

SD card data loss

Hi everyone,
I have a Siemens SX 56 (North American version) running the latest ATT WM 2003 official rom. I have the latest T-mo Radio Stack on it (6.24).
I bought a new Lexar 256 Mb SD card (32x write speed). I saved a whole bunch of mp3'z and stuff on it. The SD card works fine for some time, but then the phone seems to erase all data on it every once in a while! I searched the forums and someone suggested using "storage tools" program and formatting the card with "backup FAT" method.... I have done that too.... It has erased all data on my SD card twice after that as well..... Someone else suggested that you should exit all applications that open on the SD card (or are using the SD card) before you turn it off. I do that too. Even then I have lost all data.
My question is what can I do to correct this? Is the Lexar card the problem? Should I try Sandisk? Sandisk is actually a bit cheaper too..... I can exchange the card for that. Kindly reply quickly and let me know what I can do to fix this issue. Thank you.
Just had it happen to me on my SX56 using WM2003 Beta and a SanDisk 512mb card. Lost everything. Thought it might be the card but now I'm wondering...
Gonna try and replicate the problem.

some time ago I had similar problems with Lexar faulty card, but that seemed to be somewhere explained in that forum that ultimately it has been not card problem but .... wm2003, hehe
I know it sounds strange ..... if I can manage I point you to the right postings .....
regards, monika
ps. I have solved termorarily my problem by simply locking SD card  and then after changing Lexar for Sandisk problems stopped
Bpd, there is a hisory of spontaneous formatting of memory cards ever since WM2003 came out, it wasnt just confined to XDA either, I saw a few posts in other pocket pc forums with the same problem, some people put it down to installed themes.

Use the little white switch on the side of the card to lock it!
Also its been reported that if you label the card after formating it you wouldn't have this problem. Personally I'd do both!
BTW whats the time frame on the erase after you did the upgrade?
HTH
Problem occured same day as upgrade... and now last night again.
Fortunately I made a backup of everything on the SD to my PC and have now just restored it.
I did not "label" the SD this time... just "locked" it.
See what happens this time.

[Help] SanDisk MicroSD Memory contents cannot view,Only works after Softreset!

The phone sometimes can't see the contents of the card Images,Songs..etc .it shows only the thumbnails and file names ,but when i try to open ,edit, rename ..etc
any content of the storage card it gives "UNKOWN ERROR" with a random code.
I have to reboot "soft Reset" for the phone to correctly see the card contents .afer a few minutes , the problem comes back again .
i tried to use different memory cards, anothe 1 Gb microSD card ,and 256 mb microSd Card . But NoWay .. the same Issue ..

Oh, sorry, i mean a StarTrek. Cingular 3125 is an american version of StarTrek.
btw, my brother have your problem with his startrek (with Kingston 2gb microsd card) too. thats hardware problem. But my startrek (with 2gb SanDisk microsd) works good.
Hi Erofich ,
thanks alot for your Nice reply ,
after reading too much threads and googling the problem , i discovered that this problem from the place of the memory stick "hardware problem"
so that i but a slim paper between the SIM card and the memory stick to press the memory into inside and make it stable in the place . i did that from 4 hours , and it is still Works Great Till now.
anyway , i will return back my device when i come back to my home country ..it's still under warrenty !
Thanks all Guys.
My Regards.
Thanks Ghazall, I put 1 small piece paper between memory and sim card, it's work well. till now my kingston 2gb memory card is readable.

how will i know that my data has come back ?
I would start thinking of a plan B or C for recreating that file, because as of right now there's no way to recover anything from the internal SD when the EU message hits. You'll just have to keep up hope that someone is able to work miracle with that parituclar bug/error eventually.

Some people have reported being able to see both of their sd cards when connected to a pc with usb cable. I'm sure you have tried that already. If you can't see the contents through the computer then you most likely have lost the information forever, unfortunately. For future reference, ALWAYS backup your phone's sd card to your pc, both internal and external. If something goes wrong you can simply copy and paste back onto your phone, if you have a working storage device on the phone anyway.

If you cannot mount it in the phone and 2 computers, it's faulty. Try and download and boot into Gparted (CD or bootable USB) as one last chance, but I doubt it would work
See ScanDisc admit faulty cards via Google .

So what is now broken, the internal SD or the external SD? If it's the internal then try to flash the stock ROM. If it's external try to put the SD into a card reader and format it using this tool.
