Hey all, i have a 64GB micro sd card but the phone is not recognizing. when i insert it the phone does not detect so i cant mount it(mout option is grey) and dont get any notification.
Then i tryed to read on mt desktop and still does not detect. Also tryed a friends laptop but same problem.
i went into computer management and i see the card there, but just it. It wont even let me format it through there.
I have search in google for a solution, but pretty much everyone was just saying to format it, but thats something i cant do with all the things i tryed.
I made this post to see if there is something else i forgot to check and if you could help me.
Thank you in advance

If you cannot mount it in the phone and 2 computers, it's faulty. Try and download and boot into Gparted (CD or bootable USB) as one last chance, but I doubt it would work

hello,
this evening i put my phone on standby and when i tryed to turn it on again the screen wouldn't work, so i soft resetted my phone and it started up fine, BUT then i got a couple of errors because my phone couldn't find some program files from my storage card, so i used file explorer to check and it turns out i can't see my storage card anymore, i tryed to soft reset it etc. but nothing worked, i plugged the card into my cardreader and my computer doesn't show the card either, so i think something is wrong.
is anyone familiar with this problem or has anyone got a solution for me?
thanks alot in advance!
Greetings Richard

i think i had the same problem try to format the card on a digital camera and if you have a canon digital camera it should have the option to low level format if not look for a app that does low level format and if after this it still does not work try to see if the card still has warranty and send it to get it replaced.

ok i'll go try right away, yeh the card still has warranty and this is the 2nd time this happened to me (1st time i already got a new card, lol!)
well, the camera says it has to be formatted, but when i try to, it fails, so i guess my card is screwed, again...
well i'll go to the shop in a few mins and hope they'll give me another one again
ok, today i got my new card (unfortunately i hadn't backed my last one up ) and i'm busy installing it again.
but what i was wondering is, why does this problem occur?
What brand of card do you have?

hello all..
i would like to ask if anyone could give me a realiable cab file anti virus...
my 4gig micro sd for dopod 838 pro was hit by one..
i can no longer see the microSD in my computer neither in my phone...
i would like to know how can i format my mmc and how can i get it show in the system
Mod Edit: Please use descriptive thread titles. I have changed yours a little.
That wasn't necessarily a virus... The sd card may have failed.. This means you have a lump of plastic that is useful for NOTHING. You'll need to get a new one. It may have been a FAKE branded name knockoff from china....
I've had 1 or 2 myself...
Cheers...
What problems are you having exactly? Memory is cut? Slow speeds? Wont read?
It could have stopped working, not everything is a virus. The same has happened to one I had. The phone neither my computer could see it anymore.
Try and get a Sandisk (authentic) one.
.....
thanks guy's!...
good thing there's some folks like ya'll around...

My sdhc card stop being recognized
Okay guys, here's my problem, I flashed my phone last night with this
http://rapidshare.com/files/2179382...1.255.1_102_6275_1.38.00.10_108_Ship.exe.html and for some reason, now it won't recognize any of my sd cards even the ones that are below 2gb. I also put the sdhc.777 cab install and it then tried using them and it won't recognize any of them. Is there a fix on this issue? And of course some of the buttons used when you press the alt button arent under the right buttons. Can anyone help?
refuse2bstopped: Is the card working on a PC? I mean, if you plug it via USB Memory card reader or something similar to PC, is it shown in My Computer? If yes, then try formating.

Yes it works and shows on PC but none of them show on the device. I have a 512mb a 1gb and an 8gb that all showed on b4 I flashed the device. But now even the 512mb and 1gb don't show even though they never even needed the sdhc.777 cab that the 8gb needs to work. I'll try formatting it. But doesn't that mean I'll lose all my info on it? Oh well, it can be obtained again. I'll try it and see what happens. But that means I'll have to do it to all of them.

Okay, I tried formatting, and it still doesn't show up. When I go to settings then memory/storage card, it keeps saying "not installed" and it says this regardless of the card I put in there.

I'm having the same exact problem. I've been researching it for days. I thought a new ROM might fix it. .....NOPE..... The SD card does not exist. When I insert a card.... absolutely nothing happens.
Update: I fixed it. The drive itself was a little buggy. I used compressed air to clean it out. Then repeatedly inserted/removed SD card until it started working (albeit unstably). I repeated these steps a few times, and now it's working quite well.
Hey guys, about a month ago i accidentally dropped my phone on my coffee table and it cracked my screen. I didn't notice any other damage. Now it won't read the SD card. It will try and mount it and then tell me I removed it or something. I'm running Cyanogen 2.3.3. Stable rom and I have a recent nandroid backup.
I would like to fix this without a restore, but I can restore if that'll fix it. I'm just hoping it's not a hardware problem.
As always, any and all (attempts to) help are greatly appreciated!
Are you using S2E or Darktremor apps2sd? (That wouldn't be the cause of the problem, but would change the way you'd troubleshoot it.)
I really don't know what either of those are. I use Titanium backup and the android app manager to move the apps.
k, just checking. I'd suggest trying with a different SD card if you have one to see if it works with that. If it does, then I'd try reformatting the original SD card to see if that gets it to work again. Just make sure you copy all the files off the SD card with a computer first, then copy them back after reformatting.
Okay it was my SD card. I've moved everything over to a 2GB card now. Problem is, I can't get anything to read my 8GB now. I tried formatting after I backed it up, but it failed during the format and now neither my computer nor my phone will read mount it. It's obviously corrupt. Is there any way to fix this? I can fit most of my stuff on my 2GB card, but I'd like to save the 8GB if possible...

Try this program: https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_3/
It has revived an SD card for me in the past. Hope it works for you.
okay I got the SD formatter. I've inserted the 8GB card using a working micro-SD to SD adapter in my card reader and the program recognized the drive and shows the correct size (7.39 GB). When I try and actually format the card, though, it says that either the drive, or the card is not supported by it. :\
I figured updating the drivers for my card reader would fix this, but I have no idea where to find them...
Some thing you might try:
1) Make sure the lock switch isn't engaged on the microSD to SD adapter. I had to tape the lock switch in the off position on my adapter to keep it from switching into the on position when I plugged it into my card reader.
2) Try formatting another SD card to see if it works.
I don't think you're going to find any new drivers for something as simple as a card reader.

There are many variations of that model... Go here: http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/home.jsp?nav=Download and find your specific model, then download and install the card reader driver available/suitable for it.
So here's what happened,
I have a Samsung 8 gb microSDHC that I used on a previous android phone.
I didnt format it for my samsung galaxy s2 t989, i just deleted my old files and put some new files in it.
The galaxy s2 read it fine and it gave my no problems for a day.
The next day I noticed that when I take it out and put the microSDHC back in again, it keeps saying me that its safe to remove, basically, its not reading the card. So i put it on an adapter and plug it into my computer. When i try to access it from my computer, it tells me it needs to be formatted. So I used the windows formatter (i did a fat32 format), but right before it finishes formatting, it gave an error saying it cant be formatted.
So here's the big problem for me, now the computer cant read my microSDHC from my adapter, and my galaxy t989 doesnt recognize the microSDHC when I insert it (when I do, nothing comes up, as opposed to before when it would just tell me that its safe to remove).
What could be the problem? Thank you for your time.
I do not know what the problem can be, but I recommend you to format it in Linux, as Windows' formatting tool is useless, most times. Also try to rebuild the MBR.
i cant fix the MBR of it since the computer cant even see my microSD. I tried it through ubuntu, and the same thing, it doesnt even pick up my microSD. anybody else got a suggestion? im really hoping its not fried because i didnt have it for too long... =[
Sounds stuffed to me. PC can't see it, phone can't see it = bin job. If it's from a reputable manufacturer (Sandisk), try and have it replaced under warranty ?
thanks for the answers guys, looks like I cant deny that its fried any longer xD
its a samsung brand microSD, had it for a long time, I'll check if theres warranty on it
Third thread by you all about the same problem? I already answered in the other two threads. I'll just basically sum it up.
That also happened to me, nothing would read the card. Put your microSD into a Blackberry. It should ask you to format it. Click yes. Your microSD should be fixed. If you want a more detailed explanation, check out my other two posts on your other threads.
Hi. I'm new to this forum and am not a developer, so please forgive my newbiness!
I have a Sony Xperia Z SGP311 tablet and was recently transferring some files to the micro SD card from my PC (something I've done many times the past couple of years) when the transfer froze and crashed. Since then, the device no longer recognises SD cards. The options to mount and erase are greyed out. When I go to Storage via settings, there's a quick flash of info but then it's greyed out again (which makes me think it may not be a hardware issue). I've tried everything I've read online...trying different cards, turning the device on and off again (thank you, IT Crowd!) and restoring to factory settings, and nothing works.
If anyone can help me resolve this issue, I would be mightily appreciative.

It wasn't the card. It's a Sandisk 128gb card and works just fine in a Samsung Tab S2.

sd card slot can get damaged, so it may be hardware error, if reflash doesn't help you.
