Hi all,
Can someone confirm that the bootloader isn't being upgraded after upgrading to a newer ROM.
For example my current ROM is 1.60.00WWE with bootloader V1.02
If I upgrade my XDA to a newer ROM let's say 1.72.00WWE does this upgrade alter my bootloader version to 1.06?
Thanks in advance.
Mark
- upgrading to 1.66 leaves bootloader as it is
- 1.72 will replace bootloader by v1.06 (and all that little side effects you can read about here)

Hi Peter,
Any idea to which ROM I've to upgrade to upgrade my bootloader to 1.03?
thanks
Mark
after playing around with several german and english rom-upgrades it seems to me that no rom-upgrade up to 1.66.xxx changes the bootloader. the first rom-upgrade changing the bootloader is 1.72.xxx so i think there is no rom-upgrade with a bootloader 1.01/1.02/1.03 in it.
originally i had v1.01 on my device. when i upgraded to 1.66.231ger i still had v1.01 but since i upgraded to 1.72.751ger i have v1.06 and now i cannot downgrade to rom-versions before 1.66. when i downgrade to 1.66 bootloader 1.06 still stays on the device.
what i am still missing is an official rom-ugrade to a german 1.72 because the one i did was a rom-dump of a brand new eplus qtek to sd-card. this work for exactly one time and replaced my bootloader by 1.06 then i downgraded to 1.66.231ger and everything was fine. but there is no way to perform the upgrade to 1.72 by sd-card again because now i get the message "update not allow". i think this is because of the wrong country-id of the rom-dump on sd-card (which was no problem for bootloader 1.01 but 1.06 cares about and denies).
so i hardly wait for an official 1.72.xxxger where i can change country-id by er2003edit.
greetings
peter

bootloader version
Thanks for the reply, its not the splash screen but the bootloader version i need to change and be able to upgrade at will.
Dear friend,
I have updated my O2 tytn (bootloader 1.04) with the dopod rom.
I like it but I want to try the new Imate rom.
I have tested it but I don't like it, I prefer dopod rom.
Now, I want to return to dopod but the bootload is 1.06 now.
How can I return to the first rom?
Now I'm flashing it with the original rom from O2, the only one I can use.
The problem is that I want an English rom.
There is someone who know the solution for this problem?
Regards
Daniele
Flash a 1.04 bootloader with your original CID (o2). then you will have to flash back to the dopod.
Ok thanks...I'll try it.
Regards
Daniele
Do what barrydavisjr suggests, and when you are on 1.04 bootloader then CID-unlock your device, then you don't have to worry about bootloader version anymore.
See here for the CID unlocker:

Hi all,
recently i upgrade my Tytn to last rom available here. I´m a bit disapoiting about this upgrade so i´m considering the possibility to roll-back to original rom.
Since last upgrade change my bootloader to 1.09 and my original was 1.04, to roll-back i just have to run rom package or i have to do something before the downgrade?
Thanks in advance

Can you tell the inital and upgraded ROM / Bootloader versions ?
Hi,
I had this package:
ROM - 1.18.255.3 07/22/06
ExtROM - 1.18.255.106
Radio - 1.03.03.10
Bootloader - 1.04
and i instaled last one available here.
Rom - 1.35.255.2 11/14/06
Bootloader - 1.09
(....)
Let me say that i bought my Tytn "free" unlock. I have no problem about this issue.
Is there any problem instaling original package? Bootlader turns again to 1.04 or remains 1.09?
Thanks in advance
i think you still can downgrade it to the original rom version as the CID is the same, but the bootloader should remain 1.09. here's a quote from the wiki.
Bootloader 1.09 DOES NOT allow DOWNGRADING of itself by means of flashing earlier ROMs. Once installed it is IMPOSSIBLE to DOWNGRADE SPL 1.09 to 1.06 or 1.04 by regular means!

doesn't making the device SuperCID fix this problem?
[edit] and by problem, I don't mean getting 1.04 back, I mean there's really no point since you can flash any ROM you wish anyway, and I'm seriously asking cause I'm not sure [/edit]

yes, if your device is supercid, you can flash the roms from different vendors. what is recommended for all is making the device supercid while you are still at the bootloader 1.04. if your device was made supercid while you had the original rom with the bootloader 1.04, you shouldn't have any problems with flashing whichever rom although the bottloader will remain 1.09 in your case.
You can flash any ROM that matches your CID. If you have SuperCID you can flash every ROM. The bootloader will remain 1.09 though.
Hi,
A few weeks ago I upgraded my T-Mobile Vario 2 to WM6 using the TMUK official update. I like WM6 but now need to downgrade back to WM5 because my satnav software (Route 66 Navigate 7) doesn't work on WM6! I've downloaded the WM5 rom from TMUK but it won't install - it puts the phone into debug mode (the multicoloured thing) but then waits for a while before coming up with an Error 260.
I've read all the guides and used the search but can't find an answer - this is a "stock" phone, not unlocked in any way and I'm only using the official operator's ROMs. Any ideas?
Many thanks,
Tim

read this it seem to be the same error
Thanks - but I was hoping to avoid having to unlock the phone. As I understand it I shouldn't need to seeing as I'm trying to install official operator roms?
Cheers,
Tim
what is your bootloader version (HINT HINT)
IPL 1.04
SPL 2.03
I thought none of that mattered if I have only ever used official TMUK operator roms? I went from an offical WM5 to official WM6 and now I'm just trying to go back to official WM5? Whilst I trust the people on here more than I do TMUK support they say there should be no problem doing this.
Thanks again,
Tim

Since the old RUU isnt aware of the newer SPL version you have that is why it doesnt work.
Follow the guide for downgrading HERE.
BRILLIANT! Thanks mrvanx. I put HardSPL on using your instructions, then followed the WM5 downgrade guide. Only problem was that autodetect of my bootloader didn't work, and my SPL version wasn't listed so I had to use SafeSSPL. Seems to have worked, thanks again.
Cheers,
Tim
Hi there, my first posting after reading here for a few days...
I got an T-Mobile Ameo which identifies its IPL and SPL like this (in Bootloader Mode)
ATHE100
IPL-1.00
ATHE100
SPL-1.06.0000
I am a little bit confused since I could not find any other person/posting which reported this SPL version of 1.06.
What do you think about this? Is it just normal or do I have to do some precaution measures before CID-unlocking, SIM-unlocking and flashing?
Greetings, forcemaker
Upgraded to T-Mobile WM6
... with the "original" Upgrade Tool, all fine for me; I also figured out that my PrePaid-Provider "Congstar" is D1=T-Mobile net, so I do not even have to SIM-unlock.
All's fine
So this low SPL version which I couldn't find in combination with "ATHENA" so I was guessing if this was a "too old" version.
CU, forcemaker
Hi
I also have this SPL with small differance SPL 1.07
Have you SUCCESSFULY unlock with OLIPRO unlocker
and this ""original" Upgrade Tool," from where is this
Best regards
just used the T-Mobile WM 6 ROM
Hi GSmart,
I did not unlock the device nor SIM unlocked, so I cannot tell whether it will do the job for you.
I used the ROM from T-Mobile Germany (Deutschland, short TMD). As I did not need any modification - I just wanted it to work stresslessly - I just flashed the ROM with the Update tool that was supplied with the download. As far as I got it, it is the original upgrade tool supplied for providers and customers(?).
You can find the original ROMs in this Thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=334512
I myself used "German - T-Mobile Ameo" which is:
http://rapidshare.com/files/73352583/Athena_WM6_TMD_2.35.111.3_By_Agent_Bignose.zip
So, if any modified ROM which needs unlocking, will install fine? Don't know. Maybe you could upgrade with an official ROM and automatically with the supplied SPL version and then do your personal upgrade.
But ask here in the forum, I cannot answer this.
Good luck!
1000 times thank you for your attention
