Hi there all,
<rant>
So I finally got around to flashing WM6 onto my hermes... to give you a bit of background; I had completely stopped using my hermes and had gone back to my ancient (in tech terms) Nokia 6230i after WM5 had become perishingly slow. It had become so much of a pain to connect to my parrot handsfree that I had stopped using that too... (£114 wasted). Also on every phone call there was at least a three ring delay from someone calling me, to my phone realising it should be ringing... not impressed.
So I thought that a flash to a WM6 rom might help, after having a look around for a little while, I went for Schaps 4.31, initially, its a massive improvement, the phone is quick and responsive, and generally runs much quicker, plus there are lots of nice little things like HTC home...
However the delayed phone ringing still seems to be an issue... when I am in the middle of using the phone or if the phone is out of standby and I receive a phone call, it seems to react much quicker than WM5 ever did, almost instantly realising that it should be ringing, much better. However, if the device has gone into standby, then it will completely ignore that there is an incoming call... It simply does not ring... I have just tried 3 or 4 times and my phone hasn't rung once, after I have hung up on my home phone I have been bringing the device out of standby to see if it has registered the call at all, as soon as I turn the device on there is a missed call on it...
This is so intensely irritating! As I am sure you can appreiciate! At least with WM5 there would be a wait of 3-4 rings beofre it brought itself out of standby and then it would ring, but with WM6, nothing! Surely I can't be the only one experiencing this? I can't even say that this might be just my hermes, as I had it replaced by vodafone about 2 months ago...
Sadly... I will be reverting back to my Nokia after I have written this, at least it is able to send/ receive calls without falling over... I cannot belive that I have a piece of hardware sitting on my desk that is, after all the bells and whistles, supposed to be a phone, and doesn't work as one!!! If an old Nokia can manage it why cant my hermes? At this moment there is a hermes selling on ebay of £139, I am very tempted....
Annoyingly my friends iPhone seems to do all the phone functions flawlessly along with lots of lovely web and data integration... It is still apple though..
Does anyone have any suggestions to improve my woes?
Sorry for the massive <\rant>

Update...
About half an hour ago I completed a radio ROM update to 1.56.70.11, I thought that updating the radio stack might go some way to solving my delayed call issues.
Well it hasn't helped at all. The acquisition of signal, and the strength of that signal seems improved, but if my device is in standby then it simply doesn't wake up if there is a call coming in. This effectively renders my tytn totally useless...
Does anyone have any ideas on what might be causing this? I am sure I can't be the only person experiencing this...?
For reference my phone is now running:
Rom: Schaps 4.31 LITE
Radio: 1.56.70.11
Any help would be hugely appreciated...
Trinityj5.
You could try updating the os to fix the standby problem... Schaps 4.31 LITE is fairly old now, If I was you I'd try a wm6.1... They're fairly stable now and are pretty quick too. You could also try to update the .net framework on your PDA to 3.5 but this may require you to do some registry tweaking. Easier to find a cooked os with .net 3.5 already cooked in.
I've always had my phone wake up when a call comes in - even in standby so not sure why yours doesn't. Could be a setting you or your network have imposed.
Make sure you've Hard SPLed your phone before flashing though...
Cheers...
Thanks for your reply ultramag, I think I did at some point have a 6.1 ROM on my hermes, and I don't think it made any difference to the call delay issues. I will flash one again tonight and then report back...
Which 6.1 rom would you recommend?
Why would updating the .net help with incoming call issues?
Cheers.
For the wm6.1 roms I prefer the PDAViet roms and PDACorner roms. Other roms are good too but I like these ones best...
I don't know if updating the .net framework on your phone will speed it up but it does seem to speed up windows. I may be wrong, but if you can speed up the time it takes windows to register the call then wouldn't it speed up the time it rings?
I believe you can change the call forwarding time up to 30 secs if the network only gives you 5 or 10. Its in settings>personal>phone>services>call forwarding.
Hope this helps...
Cheers...
Will upgrade to WM6 lock phone again?
Greetings to All and Thank God For this Forum
I successfully unlocked my Cingular 8525 >year ago. I am still running WM5. I would like to use a micro sd card greater than the 2Gb now installed and believe that is possible with WM6 OS. I'm concerned that I not lock my phone if I upgrade with AT&T's download of WM6. TIA-
docwollf, not sure posting in here will get you very far, try posting in the main forum...
ultramag69, thanks for your suggestion about the PDAviet and PDA corner roms, I tried both, and still my phone doesn't want to work.... Do you think that flashing an "official" rom might help? There has been some mention on here that if your phone starts to become unstable then flashing an official ROM may help, do you think it might help me?
Does anyone have any idea at all why my phone might not ring when it's in standby? Its starting to become intensely annoying to be honest....
Trinityj5.
Try flashing the official rom first, then flash your phone with hardspl, then try the new rom. That may work, but it almost sounds like you have a hardware issue.
Thanks for your reply backspacepc,
When I said to install an official ROM, I meant one like the at&t one or the dopod aisa one, I don't have a WM6 ROM for vodafone, they never released one... would going back to the Voda WM5, then hard spl, then a WM6 ROM help do you think?
I am thinking the same as you about hardware... is there a firmware upgrade at all? I have tried over 10 different ROM's now, some WM6 some WM6.1, still no improvement on the ring delay....
If I hadn't have voided the warranty by flashing etc, I would be sending it back....
Any help is hugely appreciated, as you can probably tell, getting quite exasperated with it now...
Trinityj5.
If you downgrade the SPL back to stock and the original os back to stock then you can take it back under warranty. There are instructions in the wiki on how to do this. I believe you may ALREADY have Hard SPL on your Hermes (to check go to bootloader - hold power, OK button above flywheel and reset with stylus, hold in untilyou get to the tri-colour screen. If your SPL is 2.10 olipro, its Hard SPLed) which means you're gonna have to downgrade the SPL. Unless you supercid your Hermes.
You can find the downgrade instructions, I believe, in mr Vanx's tutorials...
Cheers...
Thanks for your reply ultramag,
I do indeed already have Hard SPL on my hermes, I put it there...
I have been looking at downgrading back to stock and then seeing if I can get it replaced, I find it unlikely that voda will even consider it to be honest... HTC might though...
Is there a hardware upgrade that I can try out at all?
Cheers,
Trinityj5
If you open it then you will DEFINATELY void warranty... If you still are within the warranty period its better to send in for repairs than to fiddle yourself.
There are manuals floating around (HTC service manual) that tells you how to take apart and put your Hermes back together, just do a search. Or if you want try Mike Channon's webpage, found at the bottom of his posts. However, if you still have warranty, thats the best way to go...
Cheers...
Sorry! I didn't mean hardware upgrade, I meant firmware....
Are there any firmware upgrades around? It strikes me that the phone doesn't know how to handle a call when it is coming in, so it just ignores it... A firmware issue?
Cheers, sorry again for the mix up!
tj5
1st thing I'd do is to check all my settings. Both phone and volume. Maybe, if you back up and restore the same settings, you've backed it up for silent or vibrate only.
I know that when a call comes through that its slower to wake up from standby when it also has to access the sd card for an MP3 ringtone....
Check out, with Schapps advanced config, how long it takes the battery & AC to resume from timeout. I set mine to about 10 secs.
Also, you should check how much time it takes before call forwarding kicks in. Go to settings>personal>Phone>services>call forwarding. You can set it to a maximum of 30 secs.
These may or may not help, I'm just throwing ideas out.
Hope they help...
Well I didn't back up my settings, it was a brand new phone when I started so I didn't have any settings to restore.
I have mine set to 10 secs too...
My call forwarding is also set to 30 secs...
Thanks for all your suggestions, I think I might downgrade everything back to stock and see what happens from there...
I'm still wondering what exactly is going wrong in my device... It must be some kind of programming setting that has been set wrong... utterly bizzare... can anyone offer any advice to this end?

Had this problem for a few months now, but wasn't a big deal - until one needs it.
I can view web pages with no problem. RSS is fine. SMS & emails are perfect.
But downloads get stuck.
Downloading a podcast in RSS fails. IE will sit on downloading forever. Opera (the version that comes with the x7501) will give me a "connection has been interrupted" message, which you can then resume. Resume it around 20 times, and you'll eventually get the file. Opera 9.5 gets stuck & sits there.
The new Youtubedownloader gets stuck downloading files also.
The cap seems to be around 180k. Small files under that work fine, but anything bigger gets stuck.
I did a hard reset last night (after a backup) - same problems.
AT&T support is not much help. If you tell them you're using the Advantage, they go with the "not supported line". So I told them I was using a Touch - but hit compatibility problems with their Media.net download attemps.
SO - just me? I can't imagine a hardware problem that could cause it, but AT&T swears that they don't block things.
it's not a hardware problem at all, i was also getting this problem. there can be a number of things affecting your device: it could be that they're working on the towers in your area. it can be a weather situation. the athena is registered as an edge device on ATT's network so you have to let them know that it's a 3G device and should update there settings accordingly.
i don't have that problem, i used to but not anymore. it was frustrating for me because downloading is a part of my daily device use, lol. i spent three days on the phone with them, when they finished i even had better signal strength. what you could also try is to flash another rom (different build than the one you want to use) then flash back. plus what radio are you using? for me i had less problems with 1.58
Sorry, I should have been more clear. I've had this device for at least a year now, probably more. For quite a while I had no problems downloading.
Around 6 months ago the problem started. I think I noticed it on my RSS reader first (and thought it was a bug in their software), but experiments showed it was the whole phone.
I figured AT&T did something to my settings or their network. But it didn't affect me much, so I ignored it.
Now, it's starting to bug the heck out of me.
(so it's not a weather or tower thing)
I didn't know that AT&T can register devices as Edge or 3G. When I connect, it does show HSPDA
When I'm connected to the Internet, I see "MEdia Net (3G)" or "HSPDA" - and if I'm indoors, sometimes "EDGE." Does that mean I'm set up correctly, or can the phone mis-report which network I'm on?
I've never flashed this thing since I've had it - never even looked at those threads - always thought they were more for people that had Windows Mobile 5 & were updating to 6 - or for those packages with lots of utilities built into the flash.
Lessee.. Device Info:
ROM: 2.19.453.4
Radio: 1.47.51.00
Guess I'll start with running a search for Radio 1.58 & see where I can download it and how to install it.
I assume since it's flashed, programs like SPB backup won't help if I have to roll back?
Just for others that may read this thread - I'm starting my reading about flashing with the following threads:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Athena
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=429013
ok, make sure you unlock your phone first before you try to flash anything. I'm using bootloader 1.2, and radio 1.58.
yes, on your phone it's registered as 3G but on their network it's registered as an edge device. you'll still get good speed but sometimes it can cause problems.
at work i used to have 2 bars on edge and nothing better unless i go beside a door or window. but now i have 2bars 3G and I'm not close to the window.
i would say your radio is at fault, so when you unlock, try a newer radio and see if it helps.
rom flashing is not just for people with older OS, but people who want the most out of their phone. the cooks here gives you more free space and free memory, they remove the operator's junk, the put in their tweaks and other things which gives you a faster device. their roms will make you feel like the first time you got your phone and was just playing with it none stop. they breathe new life in these devices, trust me. lol no joke.
if you decide to try a cooked rom just make sure you read up and follow the instructions properly. happy flashing.
to tell you the truth, i do believe it's your radio, maybe they updated their towers in your area which is causing problems with your older radio. i don't know but that seems to be a good explanation.
Did a lot of reading this morning.
I ran the AthenaUnlocker (step 1 only) - no problems.
I then ran the Athena-Radio 1.58 - which ran fine, but device won't boot (black screen only with glowing green power).
Trying to re-do the 1.58 again to see if I get luckier - if not, I'll try the 1.57.. and if not that I'll have to download an original rom and hope I can get something going!
(right now my faith in the different ROM's isn't too high)
Which one are you running?
No luck on retry. 1.57 radio extracts to something very different then 1.58. Can't find the link to 1.50 yet either.
Trying ROM: "RUU_Athena_HTC_US_2.19.453.4_105_1.47.51.00_Ship.exe" now to see if I can get back to where I started.
(I assume the 1.47 at the end of the file means I will get back to the original radio)
I didn't use the AthenaWrapper anywhere in there - was I supposed to do that?
Many of the posts in the upgrade section kind of assume that a newer person has already read every single threat in the forum. I see lots of posts from confused people & lots of rude "search the forum" type of responses.
Wiki could use some help also - kind of a ..
If you own a US x7501, run the unlocker from this thread (link), then do this (link) etc, then do the radio (this link). If you get a black screen, follow these steps..etc.
had you unlocked your phone?
One last thing for now - reading the 1.58 radio, I don't see where the hard-spl is done by anyone yet. Reading over some of the spl posts to see if want to start over with one of those (like 1.2 for example) and then try the radio.
But I think I'll wait to hear which spl you're on first.

He said he did steps 1 only lennie. If I recall correctly you need to do steps two and three for the radio to unlock. He might need to do all three steps as step one's for CID unlock. {I THINK}
Do ALL the unlock steps, then retry radio 1.58. As you've probably seen from my many posts on this subject, 1.58 is a must-flash for the best network speeds. Personally I think 1.57 had better bluetooth sound quality, but either is far better than the stock 1.47. And the speed gains in 1.58 make the slightly worse sound quality a non-issue.
It's already an unlocked phone (sim), so in theory 2 & 3 were not needed.
Now that I was able to do a restore from ROM back to working order (and testing doing a restore on SBP backup - so I'm good now) - I might risk trying it again when I have a little more info.
Based of what I read, steps 2 & 3 should not be necessary... but should not hurt either. So I will probably try that.
I also have a complete 1.57 radio now to try, and I think I found 1.50 also.
The 1.57 thread seems to think that you don't even need to unlock the phone at all.
Main questions - does radio 1.58 work with the Hard SPL? If not, which SPL (preferably with link) are people using? Do I need the Wrapper at all?
Edit - going to do the 3 steps & try 1.58 now.
--
Steps 1 & 2 done, doing step 3 now. Question - if this works, and if the 1.58 radio works ... can I still restore from my SPB backup, or do I need to re-install everything from scratch.
---
Finished the radio 1.58 patch... and it looks like it's booting (no black screen). I peeked at the Device Info after step 3 and before 1.58 - looks like the same ROM, but radio 1.50.
It's up and doing the Customization stuff now. I'm thinking about installing SPB Backup & doing a backup before the restore just in case. Not to mention, even if I can restore my good backup, now would be the idea time to clean up & re-install everything from scratch.
---
Well, well - ROM is still 2.19.453.4, and Radio is now 1.59.00.00 - excellent! Will update again shortly.
---
Welp, backup up the phone & ran the Opera Browser and tried to download a 30 meg podcast......and got the same old "Connection was Interrupted message" - or a lot of work for no end result on flashes
Go the same 1.18 megs (I think I put k in the earlier message) - so no difference. Going to try to restore my backup now.
BTW, my backup before I started was 60.8 megs (!). The clean one is only 8.24 megs. I gotta see what's taking up all that space!

Following up on this idea - AT&T has me registered as an 'unknown' but now have me as a 3G device. They looked up the model to decide what to put me on. Rep said wouldn't cause my problems, (it would just affect speed), but nice to have it correct.
(testing now...... seems to be on Edge. I just went outside, rebooted - still Edge. Guess I'm calling them back now!)
Back home - phone is now correctly showing HSPDA!
..and I'm happy to say, I was able to download a 25 meg file on the way!
Could be the combo, but I think it was lennie's simple suggestion of making sure that they had me registered me as a 3G device!
Thanks lennie!
----
Next morning - problem is back, even after a reboot. Will call AT&T shortly & see if the setting somehow changed back
Hello everybody,
I own an Orange-FR branded Hero, and it get often disconnected, but doesn't seem to "know" that. The network bars stay stuck, and the "H" is displayed, as if there was a 3G connection.
I still can use Wifi (and enable/disable it), but cannot disable 3G/GSM network, not even going into "plane" mode. The only way to get out of there is to reboot the phone.
Looks like a radio bug for me...
Any ideas ?
Thanks
Yup. Which radio version are you running?
And, are you running the phone stock or with a custom ROM. If custom, try flashing the latest radio (read up on it before doing so though, as some people manage to brick their phones by not reading the instructions)- ie. don't pull the battery out, just let it do its thing.
Hello, thank you for your answer.
The phone is like new, I didn't try to update the OS neither the radio, because of the warranty...
My radio version is 63.18.55.06EU_6.35.06.18.
I'm aware of the flash methods, as I often updated my P3300 with roms found right here
Hello there,
still have the problem, seems it's happening 24h after each reboot of the phone, but sometimes less.
By looking at the message log with the OSMonitor application, I get a lot of "rmnet fifo full, dropping packet", and the time shown in the messages is wrong (near 5h20 instead of 22h40)
Thanks for your help.
Got a new phone from Orange (with a crappy customized rom).
Same problem
what does orange say about the problem?
Hi,
each ppl I could talk to told me a different thing.
Sometimes they say it's because i'm moving to another cell (aren't they joking? it's the way GSM works...), someone told me it was because of a "localisation" problem. Another time my file was "stuck" or sent to a wrong service...
I don't think they have any return on experience about this phone.
probably it is just sales bull**** they are told to say to you...
it's guys from level2 support, that's worrying
They change my phone tomorrow... again...
i sometimes have a similar problem, phone gets stuck on 3g network and only shows as uploading data, i think it might have something to do with facebook sync. i haven't had this problem for a long time now but back in the day it used to happen alot
third phone, same problem
i don't use facebook sync
Same Problem
I was having the same problem, especially when it came to 3g / wireless usage - the phone would suddenly lose all connection to the masts but be unaware of it.
My solution so far is to downgrade the radio - the latest one is the worst for it, I'm using 63.18.55.06JU_6.35.08.29 at the moment and a lot more stable than before...
(using Villains 5.2 rom)

yes I have been getting this issue too.
It uploads data on 3g but doesn't download. I found what appears to be a temporary fix for this issue but it comes back every now and again. I think it is an issue with Orange/Tmobile cell towers.
thanks for your replies,
i'm using the 63.18.55.06JU_6.35.08.29 radio
is there other radio firmwares available ?
thanx

The one listed in my sig is the latest (and arguably the best) radio.
OMG they locked the recovery mode
im on orange and have no problems? To be honest when you talk to them they read from a script, noone there actually knows anything! just searching through a database kinda like windows help and support. If the problem is continuing with new phones id say its your cell area
I have the problem everywhere in the country, they changed the phone, they changed the sim (i'm trying another one right now), ...
That's what makes me think of a network problem.
Whenever you speak to them about issues like this always ask to speak to "high technical team"
They are the only ones that know anything and won't read of a script. They are usually very very helpful as well (or at least are in the UK)
Hi folks,
So I decided to let my old&trusty TYTN2 retire peacefully and be a backup phone - bought an almost unused HD2. Cool, love the phone. Looks good and is reaaally snappy&fast.
But I'm kind of stirred by its frequent crashing and then getting stuck on white boot screen. It appears on random occasions when the phone has to do some thinking - end call, connect to PC, after inserting PIN, app start. Nothing really intensive going on.
The phone has a custom rom: Elegancia v1.0 Final WWE dating 28.07.2010
Radio version 2.08.50.05, Protocol 15.34.50.07U and the third number displayed on boot screen is "D 2.13.90963 8G"
The problem could be connected to overheating mentioned in a couple of threads, but nevertheless I have some questions.
1. Is there a possibility of the issue resulting from a faulty ROM so a reflash would do the trick?
2. Apart from getting a new motherboard or improving the cooling system described in the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=982454 - are there any other solutions to the issue?
3. If I need to take the phone to the warranty there is a high chance that they won't like the custom ROM job so I'll have to flash a stock ROM to make it look good. Where do I get one?
4. Is there anything else specific I'd have to keep in mind?

First thing I would do is update this as it is a older rom, Here is a link to the Elegancia thread if you want to just update to the latest version of that ROM. Also update your Radio to a the 2.14.50.04 or the 2.15.50.14 radio linked in the OP of the thread.
The problem could be connected to overheating mentioned in a couple of threads, but nevertheless I have some questions.

Answered above.
2. Apart from getting a new motherboard or improving the cooling system described in the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=982454 - are there any other solutions to the issue?
Nope, not for the over heating problem.
3. If I need to take the phone to the warranty there is a high chance that they won't like the custom ROM job so I'll have to flash a stock ROM to make it look good. Where do I get one?
Go to htc.com and enter your serial number (under the battery) to get a list of ROMs for your HD2 and download it from there. Also make sure you or on the HTC site for your country or the country the HD2 originally cam from, there is links to the other countries sites on any of the HTC sites. Also make sure you flash it via SD card as this will revert everything at one time.
4. Is there anything else specific I'd have to keep in mind?
Yes If you have a T-Mobile HD2 you can not flash a 2.04.50.xx, 2.05.50.xx, or any x.xx.51.xx radio to it as it will brick a T-Mobile HD2.

Thanks a lot for a quick answer!
And another question: The phone looks like an ordinary HD2 - non-coloured buttons and no T-mobile signs anywhere. And it was bought in Estonia, albeit imported from Czech Republic - had to DL new soft from czech site. But I'm somewhat puzzled by the Model No in phone identity app: It says "T-Mobile_LEO.."
Now is that conclusive evidence or could it come just from the Elegancia ROM?
How do I make sure if the phone is actually a T-Mo or the ordinary one?

Sorry for the lag in response her just managed to get back this part of the HD2 forums. If you look in your settings>about phone>hardware information and the flash size says 1024 it is a T-Mobile Leo, if it says 527 it is not. Also I am doing this from memory as I am running Android from NAND so it might be under software information, but i am fairly confident it is in hardware information. And yes it probably says T-Mobile Leo because the Elegancia ROM started as a standard 3.14 T-Mobile stock ROM and then the ROM chief modified the ROM.
OK, the hardware information says that theres 576Mb of RAM and 512Mb of flash. So I guess it's a non-T-mo phone. Thanks!
I'll probably be back with more questions, though
Well-well-well.
Long time no see.
The situation seems to be getting solved soon.
Took the phone to the repairs where they first reflashed it with the original firmware - they had to keep the phone in the *fridge* to do it successfully and avoid overheating.
So it didn't really solve anything and to the mobo change it was - luckily I could cut a good deal and the seller of the phone will pay for the repairs so the thread can be closed as a success story.
Will be back though - boys&toys. Will have to upgrade stuff, y'know.
UPDATED:-
A lot of member found that software fix is working. Please read throught the thread.
I found out that a lot of people using Mozart have this problem. And many blame this on software.
But its not. Its hardware problem. I create this thread to solve this once and for all. If your screen is unresponsive after wakeup from sleep, its HTC LCD touch screen problem. Send it back to HTC.
It happened to my HTC Mozart too. I send it back and I got a new HTC Mozart. The screen is super reponsive.
My Mozart is fine, push the power button and immediatly as the screen lights up slide my finger upwards and it unlocked perfectly and responds normally
Although I have had it where I unlock the device and something happens and then the screen doesn't respond. I then just lock it, unlock it and its fine. I say something happens as I really dunno what happens and can't really remember but it was not just a wake up from sleep thing.
That has only happened twice or so.
Thanks KK. I too thought it was software problem. Will send my device to service center after the festive holidays.
i think this is software .Forum in China, many people brush t-mobile's rom, this is no problem .and you can set a screen password key,This problem will be much better
Microsoft officials have told htc this problem
it's a software problem confirm
when you send it back theyll just ship you back a new calibrated screen mozart with the same hardware, becaue when i broungt my mozart to a htc service center in thailand they told me that the factory rom is defected and need to be calibrated, so i let them calibrate the screen for me. After half an hour i got my phone back with super responsive screen. no more lockscreen lag or slide to answer/endcall problem

some of my friends fixed it by flashinh a new rom

I had an HTC 7 Mozart from T-Mobile DE but it kept restarting itself with T-Mobile ROM or with Europe ROM. So i send it to HTC for repair. They sent me a new Mozart with the latest T-Mobile ROM and i even upgraded the HTC Update in Zune but the left side of screen is unresponsive and it affects all the screen to. I then flashed the Europe ROM, even updated to Mango RTM, made a reset, but the problem remains and i'm going to have to send it to HTC again.
If its a bad screen calibration or not, its HTC fault and hardware fault, not software. I haven't been able to solve this with any ROM or software upgrade or reset. It's definatly a hardware/HTC issue.
op you are wrong
how is it a hardware problem if its solved after flashing the stock rom back on?
it happened 2 times on mine with debranded roms
and dissapeared each time after flashing tmo_de back on
now im on official tmo_de nodo, if it returns, i will probably sell it

Hi! I think u are right, so I'm trying to find an unbranded rom for my phone that is compatible with Italy.
Can u help me to find one ?
it was a hardware issue for my device... they replaced the LCD and i have not had any problems. my only beef is that i had to send mine back to Australia for repair; it took 6 months before my device was returned to me!

Maybe it has to do with some devices, but i received my HTC Mozart from Tmob de with nodo with this issue. I unbranded to an Europe rom and the problem remained. I even went to Mango RTM and the problem is always there.
Lastly so i can send the phone to Tmob de again and use the warranty i reflashed to latest tmob de ROM (1.32) and checked: the problem is there. I even got the HTC update on Zune but nothing solved my problem.
So my issue is definitely a hardware problem... This is a new device HTC send me, because the 1st one kept restarting, this one has the touch screen problem and i hope the 3rd one will be ok!!
I have 2 major issues about HTC support care:
1- If i bought a phone on Germany i cant use the warranty in Portugal - it has to be on Germany! This is very annoying
2- Since the launch, none of the HTC phones with WP7 can send nor receive MMS messages on TMN network from Portugal. Other networks work fine, and other WP7 phones also work fine. This has something to do with a bad configuration that HTC Connection Setup makes on the phone for the TMN network. They know this issue since day one and almost a year later they haven't been able to solve it, despite several updates the HTC Connection Setup had!! Incredible!
i have the same problme i think i should wait for the mango update to see if the problme remains before sending it back
little update here
as i said reflashing it fixes the problem, but only for the moment
i can absolutely guarantee that after reflash, 10 days ago i could unlock the phone by dragging the wallpaper , starting from the minute number going to the top,
NOW, 10 days later and after nodo update- not sure if it matters, it wont unlock unless i do it on the edges of the screen
time to buy another phone,
too bad because i really liked wp7, simple and functional(mango that is) nodo is for the year 2008
looking for a unibody phone, probably desire s
another update, now for the second half of the day my phone works fine, after putting it on sale...
this is what i did after i last saw the problem
1. started music, didnt play it
2. switched on data connection and 3g -started internet
3. switched them off
stayed in pocket of cloth pants
4. took a call 1 failed unlock
5. tried some more unlocks
6. internet on 3g on internet, stayed on wooden bench then youtube and played sata launch, internet off
stayed in pocket
7. switch on data connection and 3g, browse internet
8. played games: sata launch and fastball 2
took 2 calls, unlock worked
left internet and 3g on
now after ~5 hours left alone on leather wallet it works flawlessly every time
i mentioned the surroundings because i thought it had connection with static energy, grounding
so here it is, my guess is 3g on but i cant explain it
i will leave it on
ill tell you more, if its normal from now on im not selling it
Sent my Mozart last Friday and got it back this afternoon. The Service Center reflashed the ROM. After 6 hours the lock screen is still working good.
Was informed by them that they already have Mango 7720 final release and testing it. Release date is yet to be confirmed.
I had this problem and after updating the HTC firmware it almost never happens. So I bet this is a HTC firmware problem.
not only htc
i heard it happened on omnia also
mine works as it should
im happy
After applying the new firmware included with the leaked 7720 Mango ROM, I have not had this problem once
The only solution that worked for me, is installing this rom:
RUU_Mozart_TMO_DE_1.28.111.03_5.52.09.16_22.33a.50 _RELEASE from
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=857561
After that, i installed the available updates through Zune, all works smoothly now.
I have this rom for months, everything is ok, so it s NOT a hardware problem.

If you need certain ROM only your touchscreen can work, it IS hardware problem. Means the touchscreen is very flaky.
The touchscreen supposed to work especially with official ROM. And supposed to work with any ROM.
It just means your touchscreen is bordering failure. I wouldn't want to keep the touchscreen if I were you....
I mean, if a customer who is not so inclined to flash their phone, if they change the phone hardware to a new one with official ROM without touchscreen problem, it will just mean it is HARDWARE problem.
HTC firmware no problem. I'm using HTC firmware fine thank you.
"If you need certain ROM only your touchscreen can work, it IS hardware problem."
I have to say that i strongly disagree with your statement.
It is not just a certain ROM, it is the stock ROM.
When i bought my Mozart the screen worked perfectly.
I flashed new ROMs for a couple of times and i saw the screen had problems.
Then i reverted back to the stock ROM RUU_Mozart_TMO_DE_1.28.111.03_5.52.09.16_22.33a.50 _RELEASE and everything works perfectly.
If someone has a responsiveness problem with the stock ROM, then it might be a hardware problem.
