All,
I spent hours last night trying to access the bootloader on my XDAII so that I could switch it to the 1800MHz band. I simply cannot access it, when I hold the power button and press reset it simply cold-boots, gives me an O2 screen then goes through the setup process.
Details of the system are:
PPC2003 V4.20.0 (Build 13252)
ROM: 1.60.00WWE
DATE: 12/03/03
Radio: 1.10.00
Protocol: 1337.18
ExtROM: 1.60.50
I flashed the device with the latest ROM image from O2: http://www.sourceo2.com/O2_Developers/Devices/O2_Xda_II/XdaIIRom.htm
I did this before trying to access the bootloader. Could this ROM change the way the bootloader works, restricting access? If so does anybody know where I can get an old/different ROM from and how I can install it with no bootloader access?!
I am *absolutely* sure it is not the order I am pressing the power button and the reset button as I spent ages trying different combinations of press and hold!
I did find that if I pressed power button, reset and joypad I get a screen which simply says "Serial v1.03" this changes to USB when the cable is plugged in but I couldn't go anywhere from there in this mode!
I also tried bandswitch.exe to resolve my problem but this didn't seem to work and gave the current band as ERROR. Again, is this because it is incompatible with the new OS?
Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated,
Rich.
i case youre still looking for an answer: Bootloader is accessed via power-navi-reset all together.
BTW: WHY do you want to access it?
Bandswitch is not neccesary with Himalaya. Its three-band: 900MHz, 1800MHz, 1900MHz switches automatically (personally not tested 1900MHz)
Hi everyone,
I've tried to upgrade my PDA from:
ROM version - 2.06.00WWE
Radio - 1.14.00
ExtROM - 2.06.100a
to
ROM version - 2.06.00WWE
Radio - 1.18.00
ExtROM - 2.06.100a
but it went wrong during the erasing proces. The only thing on my grey screen is USB and v1.02. I've tried the setup again but it keeps by zero percent during the erasing proces, followed by error 112. Also I've tried a hard reset but nothings hapens. After the hard reset the screen shows USB and v1.02.
Can someone please help me out.
Many thanks
powerkite
problem solved
I had ot give the device a hard reset (you know styles with on/off button) in combination with the button between both phone buttons. After this run the upgrade again. It will not show information of the device version, only the version you want to upgrade to.
good luck

Hi all.
Well, I made the jump to the Hermes.....I missed you ex-wizard guys...LOL.
I was wondering, and have searched with little to no luck, for an easy way to check the bootloader version on my Softbank. I want to start playing with it a bit, but have not been able to determine the bootloader version. I am hoping that I can downgrade to the Dopod 1.04 bootloader rom. My device info reads;
Rom Version 1.23.707.4
Rom Date 7/21/06
Radio Version 1.14.00.10
Protocol Version 32.50.7018.00H
Any help would be appreciated. I did d/l both of the guides, but I am still just a touch confused........

Put your phone into bootloader mode to get the version, then soft reset
Look here in the wiki to find out how:

Your bootloader version is the number after SPL not IPL
S.K.

I can not find bootloader mode.
I followed these directions: Bootloader mode: Hold side OK and POWER buttons together and reset with stylus form this link: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_Resets
side ok button is the one closest to the scroll wheel and the power button is the one closest to the top on the right side of the unit, right?
All I seem to be doing is rebooting.
Any ideas on what I may be doing wrong?
Thanks
Sometimes I jump the gun and let go of the power and ok buttons as soon as i hit reset with the stylus try holding the power and ok a moment longer.

No Hard SPL.... Welcome to A LOT of reading on how to unbrick your Hermes...
Try to Hard reset your Hermes. hold both soft keys then reset with stylus. hold ALL buttons in until it asks to reset back to factory. Press "R" on the slideout keyboard and then space. Follow the prompts.
If this works INSTALL HARD SPL......
Then try to flash other roms....
Hi, I have just purchased a second hand HD2 (Telstra Aust. stock) however it already had a custom rom on it (which i didnt like). I have been trying to install a new energy rom i can get the rom on and work except i cannot make any calls, I know the problem is the radio i have tried to install a new radio and when i go through the install stage it gets stuck on 0% and nothing happens. Im not sure which radio to use. The rom i want is: Energy.Leo.29007.sense2.5.Dec.7
My HD2 software details are:
OS version: 5.2.21869 (21869.5.0.82)
Manila version:2.5.19211619.0
Rom version:1.48.405.2 (71294)WWE
Radio:2.05.51.05_2
Protocol version: 15.28.50.07U
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Switch phone off. Then while holding volume down button in, switch on the phone (keep holding vol down). The phone will boot into a multi-coloured screen. What spl version is displayed in the text showing?
You are correct about it being a radio problem. You have a .51 radio instead of the required .50 as explained in the Energy thread.
spl
im running 2.08.0000
Just download HSPL3 and replace your SPL2.08 to HSPL2.08
Then download EnergyROM and flash.
Make sure your RADIO is 2.08.50 and above. I prefer the 2.15.50 RADIO, but that is just me.
Thanks I will give that a go.
thnx man got it working just fine
