Himalaya Romkitchen - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 ROM Development

Although this does not exist, I've tried to describe it using the existing tools.
Could you guys give it a review, so i don't give any wrong/unclear information.
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/wiki/HimalayaRomkitchen

nice work! Hopefully someone will try to automate this process by providing a real romkitchen.

well you cant place programs in the real rom like you could on the xda1's so a xda2 kitchen would just be a more userfriendly way of putting programs in the extented rom

FULL INSTALL WM2003SE for QTEK 2020 requested

Hello, I can read a LOT of roms and technical information but after all, a lot of qtek2020-users still can't upgrade to WM2003SE because some things are too difficult or too technical. Is there someone who can upload a complete setup-file so everything is set for the QTEK 2020 and no more changes like country-codes have to be done and WM2003SE can be installed without any problems?
Thanks in advance.
Sorry Mate that wouldn't work because that would require many diffrent ROMs to be uploaded and that would also require many server space.
Beside that you have to know which ROM to you use. So you should go a little bit technical anyway.
And it is not that diffecult as you think. Because DCS has even made a batch file to make the changes to the ROM. The Only thing you've to do is provide your provider to the batch file.
The following thread contains verything you need.

do you want to try this ftp://gate.egaleo.gr/pub/wm2003se_qtek.rar
Thanks for the info. I'll try it.

How to Port WM6 to Atom

Hi guys, new to this.
realise atom life and atom xda has heaps of similiar hardware. the best thing.. the have been given a FREE ROM upgrade from o2 to fit in WM6.
wondering anyone would like to get ppl started on how to modify a ROM(atom life to atom xda)...?
please provide some initial step jst to get started on playing around with this programming technology. have neve done it before pretty excited
heheh.. nice daz guys.. huhuhu
Upgrade Strategy
We are in the same boat. I have been doing a lot of reading and searching for the last two (2) weeks, and could sure use some help.
Since, I'm new to porting, I am trying to port WM5AKU35 into our AKU22 xda atom device FIRST. If this will be successful, porting wm6 would be the next step. As you know wm6 has a totally different rom compared to wm5. I need to get the hang of porting... before we embark into the ultimate goal.
I'm sharing you what I have gathered, so far. I noticed that the devices others port the new OS from selected a similar device. And by similar, ROM structure is similar. You would be surprised though that when I attempted to port the AKU33 from ATOM Life into our XDA Atom, I had a lot of none functioning parts as compared to when I ported from AKU35 Universal.
I'm not yet sure, if this has got something to do with security issues, as I'm still experimenting and seeking help from the gurus. Hopefully, i'll be able to sit down and figure this thing amidst tight work schedule.
For starters: you may want to search in for all the necessary tools first needed to accomplish the task.
1. imgfs tools - needed to break up and assemble the ROM
2. xip tools - needed to edit the xip part of the ROM
3. bepe's ROM kitchen BUILDOS.EXE and PKGtool.exe
4. ROM from universal, wizard, atom life.
5. our original xda atom ROM file.
I just discovered that BUILDOS.EXE does not reconstruct the ROM correctly for the ATOM. I have tried the Scoter Kitchen and works perfectly fine...
jus wanted to thank you guys for trying so hard to port WM6 to atom

how to get development tools for WM6 for O2 Atom?

search for the following:
pkgtool.exe (package tool by bepe)
xipport.exe (xip editor by bepe)
imgfs tools (imgfs partition by mamaich)
Scoter Kitchen (ROM cooker with lots of built-in tools)
hex editor (AXE)
File comparer (ExamDiff)
rom update utility (by serialzs)
I hope that in your journey, we can collaborate and develop wm6 for Xda Atom.
Good Luck!

Thanks. I don’t realize lots of things i need to develop. But it doesn’t scare me, only one thing scare me is the time. Anyway, is there any Help/Documentation on this? Just have some Clue from where to start.

The only documentation we have is this forum. So make use of the search function by google using advance options and change the site to forum.xda-developers.com
for starters, you need to learn to cook a ROM. then you learn to port a ROM.
good luck!

ROM Cooking for beginners - manual attached

Hi all,
I made this manual in order to help people like myself to better understand ROM cooking basics.
It was ment to be used for Prophet ROMs, but since it uses HyperCore Kitchen, it can be practicaly used for any WM6 ROM.
Please be free to post your comments and/or suggestions.
NOTE: This manual reffers only to "old" way of ROM cooking (first downgrading to WM5, and then flashing to WM6)
If you find it useful, please vote.
Thanks to:
Gullum (for great ROMs)
Anichillus (for great Kitchen)
Cloudyfa (for Step1 ROM)

No, thank you!! I will look into it.
me too
i like this
Thanks for your effort, this is a really good guide.
I just wanted to ask is there a difference between ROMs built this way and ROMs that we flash using new Hard/SoftSPL method.
I saw nb2nbf tool, so is it possible to just convert OS.nb file and flash it using new method or is there some more work that needs to be done?
thank you
I really need it !
Ill check it out this weekend! Seems like fun to me
I have red this guide and it is very clear, very thourough and a big help to anyone starting to cook! THANKS!!
(@ allothers that are missing some extra's: it is NOT an advanced course! So, don't complain but take an example and publish your own knowledge and experience this way. Then everyone can benefit)
Initiatives like these are giving back the original gaoal of this website, it isn't called "xda-developers" for nothing.
Perhaps someone can make a tutorial for skinning standard OS-parts (commanager, dialer, calculator, etc...) Or how to translate your favorite ROM to your own language?
you can't use this way to create XIP from Shadow's ROM, Crystal V5. ROM or from Korand's ROM.
If someone can make this XIP.. Could anyone share the file...
with that file. I can make a new ROM based on new OS..

Never flashed any of these ROMs you specified - so if their XIPs can't be dumped using Dump XIP tool from the HyperCore Kitchen, than I won't bother with them. Let me add that ROM cooker can also remove RGU files from ROM before posting, making it very difficult for someone to modify it. Then I'll skip such ROM too.
But...
FACTS
- This manual was intended for beginners.
- When you are a beginner in ROM cooking you don't like to be confused, but want it all to be clear to you before you do anything to your expensive device.
- I see that you are using modified Touch ROM, which can be dumped with this method.
- I also use modified Touch ROM, but I will not post it - there is enough good ROMs out there already
Cheers!
Hi All - my first post
Thanks for this Phnikola, I'm brand new to all this (smartphone) stuff and need a place to start. Looks good so far.
My TC500 never was in the shops, has no support and no official upgrade path (hmmm...) but there are a few cunning points concerning SIP and home landline "awareness" in the original ROM I'd like to take with me up into WM6.1 (got Cloudyfa's Shadow 2.0 TE ready to go).
Any1 have any good advice for me?
Thanks again

Yes it does, but you don't have to cook your own ROM. Just wonder around a bit on this forum and pick a ROM that suits you.
Dear phnikola

Think Dev_Id and Chunk are correct, but don't know about OS_Id (shouldn't it be 0x400)?
Were can you find this info? Anybody?

This is 372 MB!
Greetings
edit:I tryed to upload a visual kitchen you can create a kitchenfor iolite with it, but it wouldn´t upload. Lay in hospital - use UMTS surfstick
Me utilities interest to disassemble build... How xip to get?
When I´m back from hospital, I´ll give some files for cooking, but not the entire kitchen. Will be 1,03 GB!
I can is wrong I am expressed! I translate from the translator. I have a native assembly, it is necessary to disassemble on SYS, OEM and XIP. What program can be made it?
Ervius visual kitchen works.
I shall go to search. Thanks!
P.S. What devices are assorted by this kitchen?
