and even the overall performance~
maybe the rom and radio must match!

I did read about different (radio)rom versions. I just got my T-mobile Vario II two weeks ago. It has an older dutch rom version combined with an older radio rom. I don't mind losing the "dutch" and switch to an english rom but...I can't find anywhere what the improvements are when upgrading.
I don't have the feeling that the radio part is bad except for the 3g part which drains the battery combined with direct push. I couldn't find that upgrading radiorom improves either reception (which is fine right now for me) or battery life.
Any info about real improvements would be nice.
RadioROM 1.16.0.0 improves battery life!
Personally I find that I get better reception with the latest 1.2 Radio ROM than any other.
thanks guys, I upgrade the radio rom in any case.
How much "extra" battery life can I count on??
A new rom will make your device perform better and more responsive in general. I also had the old dutch T-mobile 1.18 rom, and upgraded to the south-african 1.35 rom, which is english. It performs around 10% faster, and the graphics are at least 60% faster. See the benchmarks: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1060794#post1060794
The dutch T-mobile ROM I have is 1.21.114.3 with radio 1.05.02.00. I will look into benchmarking my version...
I have an G4 CID locked HTC Wizard(T-mobile MDA) running the NBD 8.0 rom and would like to know what it takes to overclock the cpu for better performance?
I would also like to know if this is dangerous for the device?
just try Battery status, it is safe, alhough you do not want to use "overclock on startup" before you need this.
omapclocker makes wizard faster while having lower cpu speed(multipliers etc..), but it is far less comfortable in use(noifications problems etc).
you may have up to 50-60% GAPI speed more.
Still not enough, imo.

Also - high speeds may make phone module inactive( 299 mhz in mine)

I found the battery status program/plugin and installed and found that it is in fact much faster than it was since I am running the NBD 8.0 rom and wisbar advacned 2 along with a whole bunch of other programs that slow the wizard down considerably.
all in all it is an improvement over what I had but not a great one.
On speedtest I'm usually in-between 100-200kbps with the upload speeds being much faster. My old G1 kills this phone on internet speeds. I can't even watch YouTube videos on low quality smoothly. I have the newest radio, clarity bootloader Rom, and mdeejayz froyo sense Rom. Tried different roms with the same results. How can I fix this?
i use MiniCM7 v5
my phone isnt really fast although i oc'ed to 710mhz. so i want to ask u which are the best performance settings (in settings-cyanogenmod).
vmheap, dithering on/off, cache on sd, ... and every option which is available
thx for reply
i've set my cache size to 3072 cause that personally gives me best readings, but I don't know if that's a general thing or dependant on the sd card you're using.
my VM heap is at 24M cause that's prolly more than enough memory for any app i have installed to run properly
clock speed is a personal thing, so best to fidle around with that and see what u like
higher speeds = faster, but more battery drain
lower speeds = slower but less battery drain
What is your opinion on the above? ICS only.
just flash unsecured kernel
reduce speed to 1000mhz with setcpu profile
u could try to lower the voltage but i didn't success to get something stable enuf :\
also Desense Roms like Neomax should help the screen time a bit
enabling the sec core will give u bit more performance and save battery however didnt test it enuf to be sure about it
Sorry for my bad English
