There is an Orientation option in Settings->System->Screen. Also, you can map a hardware button to <Rotate Screen> in Settings->Personal->Buttons
great just the hardware key things
I found it under control panel ... to turn by software

@ gazzaman2k - thanks you are right. didn't know that did that...

Hello,
Does anyone know whether the setting for the backlight is hardware or software. I really would like to conserve power by setting the backlight to a lower level and off is not an option.
Currently there are only two settings as you know and the ipaq has many settings.
Anyone know?
Anyone.. Anyone...Anyone
Tap SETTING/SYSTEM/BACKLIGHT the select On/Off menu.
thats not what he meant Chasl.
Bedammit, its hardware. I tried changing the value in a registry key, and it only accepts a value of 0 (off) or 255 (on). I wanted to reduce the brightness as well, but its not possible. you may think abt tinting the screen though!
hmm
Thanks...
I was hoping to save power.
Ho hum
I hope the XDA II has it...
Then again..
I may not get an XDA II
:? I have an intermittent problem in that my screen locks up at random times. It is only the screen locking up as the buttons still work. Its almost as if TPDisable.exe is running (but I removed if from the device)!!
Does anyone have a copy of TPEnable.exe that they could post? I would like to create a button shortcut to it so if the screen locks up again I can try to enable it again.
Or does anyone know of a similar problem and, more importantly, a solution?
Cheers All.
I've the TPDisable and TPEnable from my Dutch Orange ExtRom.
Have fun with it.
What does exactly the TPDisable and TPEnable do? :?
Regards,
Primoz
TPDisable is nothing more than disable you to use touch screen.
TPEnable is the same as it name it make you enable to use touch screen.
I had that problem too. In my case ,it occur in two program.
The first is Calligrapher and The second is spb Pocketplus.
Please check this two program before try to use TPEnable.
Thanks for the files, Krypt. I'll see if I can find a solution with them.
Tumtum, I have Calligrapher and PocketPlus but I don't know what I can do to avoid the problem apart from uninstalling them!
Just to update:-
I've added TPEnable to HotButtonPlus and when the screen locks up I simply select TPEnable using the HotButtonPlus button and it re-enables the screen. Not ideal I know but it saves a soft reset every time.

Hi everybody,
I come from Windows Mobile, and I'm very happy about Android (and Hero...). With my old WM smartphone I could turn the display off just facing down the device, it was a small application but very userful in my opinion. Do you know any application to do this in Android? Otherwise, it's an idea for development...
Thanks (sorry for my english..)
If you turn it over when it is ringing it will turn it onto silent. I think there are several apps in the market that do the things you mention.
example?
Yes, I was pretty sure to find something in the market. But actually I had no chance. I know how to silent the telephone, but it's not what I'm looking for...
Can someone else tell me a program in the maket to turn the display off ?
Not sure what the point is? The screen switches itself off when it's not being used, so I can't really see the why someone would want to write an app that does as you describe.
Regards,
Dave
Re:
Ok, as example: I'm using Copilot 8. With the automatic screen off, after 2 min. (example) the screen turns off during the navigation. Not good. I have found a program to select the applications as exceptions to keep the display on, but I don't want to add every time some exception.
Or maybe I simply want to decide when to turn off the display without waiting the timer and without using the button (it's a physical button, I had bad experience with the lifetime of some hw button....)
As last answer I don't think your answer is useful. If you don't use this function, you can ask why to use/develop it to the thousands of users of WM using such app....

Ahem - I didn't attempt to provide an answer, I asked a question and qualified it with a statement!

Its easy... u can just click on the red button on your hero and the screen will turnoff, and when u want to turn it on u can click on MENU twice and u will be back at your application that u were using...

I use Copilot but my screen doesnt go off while navigating, and my auto screen off is set to 1min. I think there may be a setting in copiolt to keep the phone awake while in use.

You are correct man, I have been lookin for that kind of apk couldn't find one.
How the apk would work:
-Simply by positioning the device with the face down, you get an instant sleep mode.
-As if you pressed hardware power/sleep.
-You can simulate a "face down" in mid air and the device will sleep. Handy to keep the power/sleep button clean.

There is such a setting in Copilot. As you'd expect, you can find it in "Settings"!

Hi,
Does anyone know how to disable the haptic feedback on the bottom three buttons (Back, Home, Search)?
Also, does any-one know how to change the settings/stop the screensaver (with date, etc.) appearing all the time?
I don't believe there is a way to get rid of the haptic feedback on the capacitive buttons. Maybe with a dev unlocked device.
To change the lock screen settings go into Settings->Lock&Wallpaper then change the time out to what you please.
Thanks for letting me know. Real shame, as I know it's only a little thing but it does annoy me. Regarding the lock and wall paper. I wish there was a way to turn off the feature forcing me to swipe up on the screen every time I turn the screen on. Another annoying feature. Why doesn't it just take me to the main screen?
I believe lock screens are standard on all smartphones with the exception of Nokia as they have the physical button to do that. You could request an app that disables it but I would find it extremely annoying as I accidentally press the screen unlock quite a bit when in my jeans.
haptic feedback
Hello! A while ago I purchased a Mozart 7 phone, it was a used phone, not new, not sealed in the box!
So, it has reached my hands with a deepshining ROM, 4.0 if my memory is right!
Later I´ve updated it to the 6.0 version of the deepshinig ROM!
I´ve, somehow managed to disable the haptic feedback on the "back" button as well as on the "Search" button.
It was not a stock available option, but trought some tweaking software I disabled it!
Now I´ve got a windows phone 7.8 ROM, made for mozart by ansar, available here on XDA, and I´ve looked everywhere on the phone and on the tweaking software, and I can´t find the option to disable haptic feedback!
So I know it´s possible, cause I had it done, but now, dont know how to do it again!
HELP!!!
I have installed some tweaking software, I found in the Deepshining ROM 6.0:
"Advanced Configuration"
"WPH Tweaks"
"WP7 Root Tools"
But, so far, I haven´t made it !
I´m Portuguese, from Portugal so... sorry for my poor English!
