Dear All, I wnat to change my XDA2 device form Chinese to English, can I just to download the offical rom 1.72.181, and run the exe file to change it? Do I need do any thign else? how about the Radio and extended rom, do I need to upgrade them too?

try it this way:
1. Get English ROM.
3. Unpack the ROM with winrar or winzip.
4. Delete "HimaGetDeviceData.exe" and "HimaClearJumpCode.exe"
5. Put your XDA II into bootloader mode by pressing power, joypad and reset at the same time.
5. Connect XDA II's craddle directly to your PC. Not through any USB hub.
6. Put XDA II into craddle
7. Run HimaUpgradeUt.exe
8. Wait... till it finish it's job

i have no sound at all but i can make a phone call the front speaker works (the one u put overur ear when u make a call) but the back one doesnt work at all !

i tried to follow this
1. download the attached files
2. REMOVE SIM and SD CARDS !!
3. connect usb cable
4. copy sspl-1.16-nike.exe to your device and run it (usb cable must be connected!) (run it where plzz? using the phone file exploerer or dirctly from the pc)
5. after a few seconds "USB" appears on the display(is it the one with the tri clolr mood?)
6. unplug and replug the usb cable (when i do it nothing happens :S it stucks at the tri color mood)
(OPTIONAL, better to skip it! step 7. if you only want to test the sspl try flashing the attached splash screen by running ROMUpdateUtility.exe from flash-splash-niki)
8. you can now flash the hardspl-1.15mfg-nike.nbh by running ROMUpdateUtility.exe from flash-uspl-niki( i have done it without doing the sspl 1.16 and it worked :S is that correct to do???)
9. after installing the hardspl you can flash any rom (rom cook project

My new Gene is bricked. I am trying with the Orefkov SPL updater. I am getting the Boot loader screen but I am stuck with MTTY. I am not getting the USB button. Please help

IF YOU ARE USING WINDOWS VISTA/7 YOU NEED TO HAVE WINDOWS XP ACTIVESYNC DRIVER INSTALLED.
Use the Orefkov Unlocker

1. Remove the battery, SIM card and SD Card of your phone and press the Power key for 20 seconds to draw out any residual power from the phone.
2. Replace the battery but not the SIM and SD card, and don't start the phone yet. Press and hold the Camera button and then press the Power button or Soft Reset button. Phone will come to boot loader mode (tricolor screen) and SPL 1.10.Olip will be displayed.
3. Connect the USB cable. The text USB will appear on the bottom of the screen.
4. On PC, go to the folder Orefkov in the folder extracted in step 1 and run the Mtty1_42.exe. Press the button "USB" in the window that opened.
5. In the window that opened, type the following command (don't use copy paste please) and press enter:

You'll see a response from phone.
6. Type the following command BUT DON'T PRESS ENTER YET:

ls boot.bin
Note : that is small L and small s in that command, dont mistake it with I.
Now, hold down the Camera button on phone, and press the enter key on computer. After a while, the screen will become White. Continue pressing the Camera button for 10 more seconds.
7. Now release the camera button, close the MTTY program and run ROMUpdateUtility.exe in the same folder, not the one outside it. That one is for RAM flashing that we will use later. Check the boxes in each step and click Next Next and then at last Update. Let it finish the process. Your phone will restart.
8. Now on the splash screen you'll see the info with updated SPL version. The version of SPL will be 1.07.Oref.

go to computer> right click and select properties and go to device manager. Is there anything called pocketpc usb sync? If there is pocketpc usbsync or unknown device then Update it with the driver i have attached below. and one more thing keep on refreshing the page from time to time.

then upgrade that with pocktpc usb sync driver i have attached above and try again. Let me know if that worked.

Unzip the files i have send you.
Go to device manager, right click on windows mobile and select update driver.
select browse my computer for driver.
select let me pick from device drivers and choose have disk.
go to the folder you have extracted the drivers and select pocketpc usb sync.
I am using windows seven but i believe steps is basically the same
I have right clicked on WceRndis and wceusbsh and selected Install. Will that do?

congratulations, now update to the ROM of your choice. Glad to help. Had the same problem, woke up till 5 am in the morning trying to fix that. For new ROMS just browse the section. Plenty of ROMs for our new gene here. Enjoy

@rexhyd : From now on, never flash any ROM that says its for Old Gene, and also those which say Stock Rom or Official ROM etc. For the second type of roms, ask in the forum first, whether they are safe or not. Good luck!

But more than a year, I installed Nike 1.22 shipped Hardspl and from then I used Official Rom's.
And now I have a question. I have to do this again (even with 1.22):
1. download the attached files

4. copy sspl-1.16-nike.exe to your device and run it (usb cable must be connected!)

Hi All,
Need some help. My Samsung S3 mini i2800L was flashed with the wrong firmware in an attempt to upgrade to Jellybean 4.2.2 using odin and it failed . It remained in download mode and I did a battery pull ,now the phone is absolutely dead. Black Screen for all the following:Recovery Mode and Download Mode .The phone wont power on at all. The only sign of life , is when I plugged into my girl friend's Toshiba laptop via usb cable and it searched and installed the drivers.In addition Windows makes a sound when the device is plugged in and unplugged, but is not being recognized by Kies or Odin. I also tried a USB JIG with no success.
Is there any debrick file that I can use for to place on my SD card and attempt to boot from SD, or is JTAG the only option left?

OK ... good news for you is it can still be read by the comp when connected (prompts by audio signal) ... it wont take more than 2 min to unbrick your phone... tell me have if you have a stock ROM available for your device?

Yes I have downloaded a stock ROM from the internet that can be used. My phone is unlocked so I just downloaded a open firmware , please guide me on the steps required and thanks for responding BTW.

have you downloaded SP flash tool along with it??? if not then search for that tool on needrom website... now turn off your phone by removing the battery... now open the SP flash tool and select the Scatter-Loading file present in your stock ROM folder... now click download button... then quickly connect your phone via USB... wait for 5 min ... you will get a message box with green circle and you are done!!! use your phone as you used to earlier...

OK if you have stock ROM in md5 then follow these steps
1) copy the md5 file on desktop
2. Download Odin 3.07
3. Switch off your phone and boot Galaxy S3 Mini I8200L into Download
Mode by pressing and holding the Volume Down+Home+Power buttons
(long press until the boot screen appear), now press Volume Up key to
proceed to Download Mode .IN CASE IT doesn't WORK TRY EVERY COMBINATION SO AS TO ACHIEVE 6TH STEP... IF NOTHING WORKS THEN JUST CONNECT THE PHONE WITHOUT PRESSING ANY COMBINATIONS...
4. Extract the downloaded Odin3.07 zip file and run the Odin3 v3.07.exe
file as an administrator (Right click on the .exe file and click on Run as
administrator)
5. Now connect your Galaxy S3 Mini I8200L to your computer via USB
cable
6. In Odin3 screen, you should see a COM Port number like “0:[COM7]” at
ID:COM section and “Added!” text at the message box. This means your
device has been detected by Odin3.
7. Make sure that, only the “Auto Reboot” and “F. Reset Time” options are
checked.
8. Now, extract the downloaded firmware .zip file, you’ll find a firmware file
with extension .tar.md5
9. In Odin screen, click on PDA button and select the firmware file with

Sigh , unfortunately odin is not detecting my phone at all. Remember that the phone is completely dead, which means it cant power on or go any mode . I think the SP Flash tool would work but I need the scatter file

Download Samsung mobile drivers... Because you had said your friends laptopts prompts when you connect your mobile to his laptop. So remember 1thñg your phone is not completely dead yet. try if flash ROM from his laptop

Ok so update: I downloaded Keis and installed all drivers. I recognized now that the phone is connecting as EMEI on PC. I clicked on it uninstall the drivers and re install it , but ODIN nor Keis still does not recognize phone , only computer recognizes phone as EMEI. Let me know your views.

get your Samsung usb drivers from here developer.samsung .com /board/download.do?bdId=0000000700&attachId=0000000001 (remove the spaces in between). give me some time so that I can find scatter file for your phone.

I got the exact same issue.. my phone is samsung galaxy s3 mini. i will be very happy if you would also find the scatter file (although i still have no idea what is that) for my phone too, while i google it. i'm newbie, i'm not really sure what to find.. help me.. :crying:

Hey guys am using samsung s3 mini GT I8190, i recently flashed cyanogenmode 5.1.1 on my device, it was working fine but i decided to do a nandroid back up and in the process my phone died. it cannot power on or go to downloading mode. When i connect to my laptop there is a sound that its connected but then it disconnects help please..

Hello, i need some help. I have tried all but always shows faild...i even use a recovery.tar and the bar goes all the way to the end but when the procces its almost finish it shows FAIL.
What can i do?

HOW TO FIX FLASH TOOLS ERROR S_BROM_DOWNLOAD_DA_FAIL (0x7D4) & 2004) FOR MTK PHONES
FIX FOR SP FLASH TOOLS ERROR S_BROM_DOWNLOAD_DA_FAIL (0x7D4) AND (2004)
Follow the following steps:
1. Get SP flash tools (Latest version)
2. Download your phone's firmware (from manufacturer site or needrom.com etc) and extract it.
3. install Mediatek Preloader drivers as per your OS version (win x7 , 8 10 etc) and architecture (32/64bit).
4. Run Flash tools with admin as administrator
5. select the scatter file from the firmware folder you downloaded and wait for it to load. (Do not connect your phone yet and leave the battery inserted)
6. Select Download Only
7. Hit the download button
8. Now plug in the micro/type C usb end of your cable to your phone but dont plug to PC. yet
9. While hold down both volume buttons i.e up and down buttons, (Do not press the power button), Insert the Usb cable end to your PCs usb port (Please choose a port thats very reliable).
10. After a while, P Flash tool will begin to upgrade your phone, dont release the buttons yet, let it lapse about 2mins then release them, the firmware upgrade will still continue and it will display a tick pop-up when done (this may take between 5-10mins).
Now unplug your phone, remove and re-insert the battery and power-up your phone. You phone is now unbricked.
Note that the first boot will longer than a regular boot.
