After few weeks of experience with WM2003SE (thx to all work done here!), I noticed some more degraded performance with time. I checked the DB_notify_queue database and found it with 213 recoreds despite that I have the clear_notify fix in the startup :shock: ... the average should not exceed 30 records!!
I ckecked the DB file and found that the events of type SCRIPT: 0x000 were NOT removed by the fix. This event is generated for each missed call, and I have a lot since I use CallerFirewall
Also, if you are using StopTime application, it will add new duplicate record each time you modify its settings. I used the CheckNotification s/w to remove these events.
May this help you to enjoy more stable SE

I'm terrible for forgetting people's birthdays, or having to rush at the last minute to find them a present. So here's a simple today screen plugin I wrote that gives a countdown to birthdays and anniversaries that will occur in the next four weeks. Points:
1) Upto four birthdays / anniversaries are displayed
2) English only
3) Finds birthdays / anniversaries by searching through your contacts
4) Only for WM5.0 devices
5) The attached cab is compiled for processors running the ARM instruction set, but this should be virtually all commercially available devices
6) No configuration possible
7) Supplied as is without warranty.

neat Seems to update well, which the "Birthdays" today plugin used to have problems with. Haven't tested the latest version of that yet, though; http://pda.jasnapaka.com/birthdays/
One note: it seems to be using a fixed size font for the display. It would be good if it would inherit from the device font size?

after a long time where i had so many tips and software solutions from this community it is about time a put something back to it.
i have been looking for an application to allow me record a voice memo and send it to myself as a reminder with a voice clip attached.
found a commercial program that did not do it as i wanted so had decided to do it myself.
MemoMe is a light application that enables you to record your memo when you just got an idea or remembered something you do not want to forget, like when you drive or just do your shopping... it goes to your mail or your secretary mail etc. easy to use and configure. it supports all WM devices and all screens.
MemoMe uses any one of your existing email account so no data is passed on and your personal info is untouched, this is mainly for security reasons so no
one can use your smtp info or expose your user is & password.
as said it is offered as a freeware to all as a tribute to this wonderful comunity.
as per donations etc - is you feel like donating, please think of someone who really needs it like poor children etc or donate to charity.

OK, the first official release is now available for download.
change log from the pre - release:
- UI was completely changed.
- many internal engine changes
- sound effects were added
- the send engine was totaly changed and due to security reasons there is no direct SMTP support at all. the only mechanism supported is sending the Memo using the internal outlook engine. any existing account can be used and the configurator shows all available options. in the older version there was a need to provide your SMTP server, username and password - not very good for security...
this way no sensitive data is stored to be a potential risk.
if i will find a way to use a public service or any other option were no info will be stored i will consider.
setup & update procedure:
just download one of the setup packages either EXE or CAB and install it
if you have installed any older version i recommend you uninstall it and delete the folder to make sure nothing is left behind
run the config utility and just follow the few selections and save.
very easy to use and nothing to write a manual for
now you can use the MemoMe app and enjoy !

Help me with Setup
Hi, I am having problems sending to my mailbox I am not sure of the smtp address, could you help with the setup if its not too much trouble, I am using windows live mail........................Thanks for the neat apps
currently the application supports 2 options of sending your Memo:
1 - using your SMTP information where you will have to enter your SMTP server, User & Password and to mark the Authentication if your server requires (most do).
2 - using your AS pocket outlook. if your device is configured to sync your email using pocket outlook (means your outlook can send / receive email) and the default account name is ActiveSync, that option will send the meno using this account. so when you next manually Send/Recv or it performs an automatic Send/Recv according the time intervals you specified.
the nextversion will ofer a different mechanism - either you use your outlook and by this BTW you dont even have to know or provide your SMTP info or the application will directly send using a special set SMTP account I will provide it internally.
i hope by this weekend i will have sometime so i will update the application, in the download server there is a "fresh" version - with fresh user interface that is the final UI from now i will update the functionality only -
- it will allow taking a photo, add a memo to it and send
- it will allow sending to third party as well
and the "wish list" is getting longer and longer as other guys are also sending feedbacks with ideas...
one thing will remain - as much it will be further developped i will keep it free, that's my obligation to this great community that provided me with so many free applications so far

Thanks for the update..I didn't notice any changes in the UI, I got the same UI as the previous ver... there were some changes in the configuration.. didn't see any option to take a photo either maybe I downloaded the wrong file?????

you probably downloaded the temporary version.
the previous version had a simple blue backgroung and the white one with rounded buttons was just added, but that is not your problem
the version available now is the latest one (last night) and is final (before the next one )
as i said the next version will have the camera option and more, it was important to get to a final look and functionality before going to futuristic features.
trus me that the next version will not take years ( it is under design right now but i have my real day job to attend first, this is only a hobby)

it did not come out of being lazy it came out of a real need - say you are driving or just walking, you just remembered something or were told something you do not want to forget... i operate it over a voice command so when i drive i just call the app by its name - record and send...
next will come as said a photo attachment so you will be able to take a pic add comment and send.
next will come third party reciever...
and i hope to add a voice recognition to so you can dictate...

of course - if you record and not send or the sending failed the memo is still stored in memory - usually the file is in the program folder so easy to find.
next time you run the app you can listen to the record and send
if you try to record when there is an unsent memo you will get a worning and then can choose to overwrite or go back...

1) if you meant pocket outlook - the answer is yes - it uses outlook to post your email to yourself. if you meant pc outlook - no need to as your pocket outlook should sync to your desktop. MemoMe then sync to pocket
2)no. the voice memo goes as an attached file via email to your inbox, that's what it says in first place.

But
When Sound Effects are off it still plays some sound when it starts, buttons pressed etc.
If you wait until max recording time in pilot mode it hangs. It draws blue line till screen end. You press hand button. Button become a clock. It again draws blue line till screen and hangs.

This bug has been referenced in a few device's threads here on XDA :

It occurs in WM 6.1 , builds >20000 and <21058 (not sure regarding the latter).
It is confirmed to exist in builds 21054 and 21056.
As I myself do use that kind of reminders, and this bug bugged me a lot,
I did some research, and wrote small App , that provides a workaround to the bug.
In general - my App monitors the registry, and when the sound should be played for event, it plays it (same sound you chose for Reminders).
I hope that people who were looking for that solution still need it .
Known limitations :
1.For some reason , my workaround only works with WAV files set as sound for reminder. WMA files don't work, and I didn't manage to overcome this.If you have an idea - drop me a PM.
2.If you set the time out (Power Options) to 10 seconds - sound won't be played, due to some sleeps I used.
3.As the bug only affects the "all day" events, you might get your sound played twice for a non "all day" events. Actually , my program repeats the sound every 10 seconds until user performs "Snooze" or "Dismiss". There is a workaround for this one. Set the desired WAV file as sound for the Reminders, press OK.Then return to Reminders Notification , and uncheck the "Play Sound" square. This way, my application will be the only one to play sounds, for all the reminders.
4.This initial version doesn't treat the Vibration absence. I think it can be fixed easily though.
PS : In case of an interest, I might publish the 10 lines of the source code.

I encountered a strange problem. It seems like WinMo automatically close applications when there is more than 4 of them.
When I have four applications running and I open fifth, one of the running application is closed. It cannot be lack of memory because Internal Storage is 40MB free and Main Memory 174MB.
Is it a WinMo limitation or a bug?

seems like your task manager is set to "auto-kill"
use a registry editor of your choice, navigate to:
Hkey_Current_USER/Software/HTC/Taskmanager
and change "Autokill" from 1 to 0

However I didn't find any item called Autokill in Taskmanager registers. There is below only Default and ExclusiveList\System\ but it doesn't contain any kill
I looked for 'Kill' in registers and the only thing I found was HTC\OOM\Killchance 0x3.
Should I add this entry in Taskmanager?

I used to have a similar issue, the cause of the problem was a number of redundant progs/ shortcuts in Windows\StartUp folder, once deleted it solved the problem, now I can open 8-9 progs with no probs, however, not sure how experienced you are with winmo so im wary of telling you to do the same (if you decide to take this route, google the items before deleting & always make a backup). as for the autokill feature you can disable this with advanced config:

1 last thing you might want to try is sktools you can use the demo see if it works for you & change 'Optimize' settings to 'Memory'
these are just a few options to try but you def' should not be limited to 4 progs.

thanks for tips but so far nothing helped.
Autokill is definitely disabled. I used Advanced Config tool and it is OK.
My StartUp doesn't contain nothing special - there is about 10 items.
I so far haven't tried SK tools.
However I observed more details about this strange behavior. At first I noticed that number of running application varies in time - most probably due to different RAM available (however still 170MB).
Secondly there is something called "CursorWindow" which consumes extreme amount of memory for short time. I did following experiment - I ran 5 applications in parallel and as a 6th I opened Resco Task Manager. This shutdowns one of previous five applications. And Resco among normal applications shows task called "CursorWindow Memory: 85.7MB". When run it again this task is not there anymore. It appears only when it shutdowns my applications.
Does anybody know what CursorWindow is about?

Thanks to the registry hack found here we can resume apps instantly.
Be forewarned, however. This is not for the average user, and has some undesirable (though not crippling) side effects. To do it, make sure your device is developer unlocked, then edit the following registry key:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\TaskHost
and set "DehydrateOnPause" to 0 (defaults to 3).
The effects should be evident immediately, but your results may vary. Again, this is for advanced users only, but it certainly helps when trying to multitask on your Windows Phone 7 device. Enjoy!

A useful tip.
But I found that setting to '0' did cause some anomolies in my useage so changed value to '1' and it suits me better with no problems.
I had mine set to 0 this afternoon, played a game of pes2011, then a few emails, phone was full battery at 4pm nearly flat by 6pm, not sure if it had pes2011 still running in the background , battery usage is jus to high with this hack
