need help guys/gals...my xda's sms inbox displays a -1 unread message. how come there is a -1 unread message. i've already tried to delete all messages in the inbox but it still says the same. please help me get rid of that -1 unread message. thanks!
Have you tried a soft reset ?

I have dcd's rom but it aways says I have one unread text. Does anybody know how to fix this without deleting all my texts?
did you try a soft reset ive ahd that before, its not a big problem and is fixed either by a soft reset, or by getting another new text and reading taht.
I'd try installing psshutxp, then reading the text message. Soft reset using psshutxp instead of using the stylus and see if it fixes it.

This worked for me when I had that happen. Select all messages and mark as read. Then send yourself a text message from verizonwireless.com or wherever else, and that should reset the amount. Worst case is to delete all messages and then send yourself one.
I dont know if anyone can help... I've backed up all my text messages and reinstalled my cooked rom and now when I have restored my messages in the inbox its just showing all messages from ME and no one else untill a text comes through...
Anyone know how to fix this... i have a bout a years worth of messages I cant see ...

An "hidden" SMS seems to be present in my phone. Having deleted all the received messages, as soon as the first SMS comes in, the count begins from "two", even if there is only one message to read of course.
I have the last official ROM installed.
Any advices?

While in your messages, Menu>Settings>Traditional Mode.
This should display all of your messages individually. You can tap the message and click delete and it will stop showing up.

your solution worked for a slightly different problem for me: i could see 1 message only in the messages tab but the messaging client inbox was empty. i switched over to traditional mode inbox and then deleted it.
The .exe file worked perfectly. Thank you very much!
Just curious, as this has been found in other devices, as well as my Atrix.
Does anyone receive an error message when receiving an MMS from an iPhone user?
"your phone is not compatible with this message type or size. Portions of this message will not be displayed"
and does not show any of the media?

I've only encountered this when using Handcent SMS - if I load the stock test message app on the Atrix is seems to read the messages no problem...
Is anyone else having this issue. My emails and text message are all read, but the home screen email and messaging shows I have unread messages.

I am having the same issue, i restart the phone and it fixed it but i dont want to do it all the time.
