does anyone know if we can stick smilies or ems pic on our sms
or even receive them :?:
no the sms recieve part of the OS dont support ems and cant be made to wihtout rewriting parts of windows ce
but people said that it could be made to send ems if parts of outlook were changed to made those ems codes

Is the change really that serious? I thought the SMS receiving function was only handled by one DLL called SMSReceiver_DLL.dll.
I have tried sending an EMS from a Nokia phone to Xda II, unfortunately I got no response from Xda II at all, I mean NOTHING, no notification, no garbage characters SMS in Inbox (tmail.exe), not a single sign of any incoming sms or anything!
I suspect that this SMSReceiver thingy is written to handle SMS only, and anything with a header which does not comply to a normal SMS, namingly EMS -- IT DOES NOTHING! This is most unfair.

i dont think that outlook and display pictures like that

also composing them would also prob be an issue with outlook
i think that phonecompany's and cellphone makers are pushing mms these days so i doubt that it will be in the xda3
do the newer nokia and sonyericsson even support the std anymore ?

there was a program by eMood soft which handles EMS message (sending & receiving) but it's not designed for Phone Edition. I installed it, it looked good but too bad it can only work via Com ports, IR, Bluetooth etc ... Can't use it on Xda II at all. And the website for this eMood seems to have shut for good. No sign of any other software that works under WM2003 Phone Edition.
Well, as you said most providers are now pushing for MMS ... but in many Asian countries, EMS are still widely used for leisure. And for new Nokia phones or SE phones (even P900), EMS seems to be pretty standard.

I managed to get yahoo mail to work and download everyhour but somehow I managed to loss the Text Messaging capability. I also installed the blackberry software but currently am not using it. I do not have text messaging as an option anymore. Here in China people use text messaging extensively so I would like to know how to get this back. On my contacts screen I see the SMS and text messaging number but I cannot send text messages. All I have for message capability on my messaging folders are
IMAP4 - which I am not using - it also appears on the option screen
MMS - which I cannot get to work - it also appears on the option screen
Yahoo mail - which does work - it also appears on the option screen
Outlook email - which appears to work for system messages from my provider which is China Mobile. - This does not appear on the option screen.
When I try to select new account I can only chose something which has an email address not a phone number.
Any help is greatly appreciated. I also posted originally on the xda-developers screen as I am new to this type of format.

It might be possible to cook a WM5 ROM with the messaging packages and files from WM6.1

The new version on the VZW release is 5.0.70.24. I can receive MMS ok but SMS over 160 characters are cut off. I still receive part of the SMS along with the "Preceding msg modified, Media ojects were removed" error message.
I had my wife send the long text and she receive the following error message "Message Delivered to 7########5 as plain text Destination does not support enhanced messaging service"
It does not allow the addition of new servers or the viewing of the Verizon Wireless server settings.

This is a problem with Verizon's servers.. and not the arcsoft product.
GC14 has apparently dealt with Verizon extensively on this issue.. He talks about it in this thread (among others)

That said... The new version "shouldn’t" cause any problems, and may actually offer something?? Maybe better memory usage, or bug fixes? But I dont really know.
I've been screwing with this version ever since I was given the update a while ago. There are a few issues with it I'm trying to work out, but when I'm done, it should provide an update for Alltel users as well.

I've been using it for about a week now...the main difference I noticed was with the picture messages, in version 5.0.31.25 the MMS are imbedded in the threaded SMS, and if you didnt save the content of the MMS and u received 6 or 7 new texts from the same person the message would be lost among ur other messages and u would have to click "view older messages" to get to them...
In version 5.0.70.24 each picture message is a seperate message, seperate even from the SMS messages from the same person...
but I haven't noticed anything more then that yet...
Is it possible to get this newer build as a .cab? Would it just drop in replace the existing arcsoft .cab GC14 made?

I sms Google (http://www.google.com/intl/en_us/mobile/default/sms/index.html) and many times there are multiple responses/search results and Arcsoft just breaks them up in to separate messages. When I view the messages, they are all together though, threaded view or whatever it's called.
I do deal with the whole lost messages issue if the phone is reset while Arcsoft is open still but as long as I close the program, it's fine.
Am I rambling about stuff that you guys aren't talking about?

You can send 160 + char texts... it's receiving that is an issue.. aparently it's only certain messaging servers as well.. I get a lot of automated texts from my server server monitoring systems.. most are over 160 Char, and most are cut off ( i only need the first few lines anyway).. but about 10% of them come through as part 1 and part 2 (broken up properly).... Guess it just depends on what servers do the delivering??
This has been the issue on every version I've tried...
Where did u guys get the new arcsoft MMS? I mean is there a cab out there or is it still being tweaked?

i flashed to the official VZW rom...I'm waiting on GC or DCD to rip the Arcsoft MMS out of the the new rom so I can flash to 3.2.6
I unlocked a T-Mo HD2 to use with AT&T. I've been using a Tilt 2 before.
My question is: Everytime I take a picture I want to send it as MMS but when I click on the (share?) envelope icon the only options that show up are: Send to My Album (some tmobile website i guess?) upload to facebook, save to footprints and send via email.
Is there a way to have send as MMS/picture message as an option enabled?
Also if anyone can help me raise the mms limit from 300kb to 600kb?
