msn messanger

hey guys....
can any one help me?
everytime i try to connect to msn messanger and sign in...its says:
"
Trouble connecting
Unable to connect with current settings."
That even happens when i am connected to wap already...
If i do go in to "settings" and set it up to wap....(even though it is) it doesn't sign in.....its just says signing in for ages..
If any one can help me i will be very grateful
thanks
jay
I too used to have all sorts of problems like that
I used to set up my WAP settings and then next time i looked at the connection settings it had set the internet connection back to 'internet settings' it really was impossible to sort out. to use msn via wap you have ot set your 'internet connection' top combo box to 'wap settings' and hope it stays there.
after messing with it for ages, i installed the xda devel rom 1.1 and then cancelled all mention of the O2 configurator. then just put your wap settings as internet settings. so now anything that wants the net just connects to my internet connection, which is actually WAP.
MSN, ICQ and IE alll connect fine through my WAP connection.
hope thats of some help.
Hi,
What version of the ROM are you useing? If you are on O2 in the UK and have PPC 2003 then I get the same thing. I think that this is a problem for everyone at the moment.
If not try running the O2 auto config from the settings menu. That will reset all the GPRS and WAP settings to default. This should work.
Gil.
hey....
thanks for the replys
i have now sorted the wap problem out.....
but i got a new one
why does it take so long to sign into msn messenger? i am yet to properly sign in beacuse it take too long.......it keeps saying "signing in" and never makes it?
any ideas?
thanks again
jay
hey guys....
new problem
right...when i have my usb (xda on the cradle) and then try and connect...it does it staraight away...but when i take it out.....it goes offline....???
also...i still cannot go on msn messanger...if it is not in the cradle.....
any advie would be great
thanks
jay
That just means that your msn is not even attempting to use your dailup connection and is instead using your pass through connection to your desktop machine, i assume that your desktop has a net connection?
remove it from the cradle and disconnect any connections, then start msn messager and try to log in it should invoke the connection thing and try to connect to your 'internet settings'. if it fails to dail your wap number then this is your problem. and needs sorting before anything else.
hey...thanks for your reply
yeah my wap connection is fine....i have tested that
but when i try to sign in with the wap connection...it just keeps on sayin "signing in" and never gets there...
any ideas???
thanks
jay
Have you entered your WAP settings in 'Internet Settings' or 'WAP Settings'?
Mine didn't work correctly until i deleted the 'WAP Settings' then manually entered my WAP account details into 'Internet Settings'

Internet Explorer problem

I am a newbie in the ways of the XDA and I have suddenly came accross a small problem.
I set up my PPC to send and receive e-mail from my ISP without any problems, when I open my inbox and click on connect my GPRS connection opens and everything is OK, but when I open Internet explorer, I don't have my GPRS connection starting up and I only get a blank page. My internet connection was previously working OK.
Please help!!!!!

how do I set up Internet connection settings(Rogers)on SX56?

I upgraded to XDA developers ROM v1.2 so that I could Unlock my SX56.
The phone Now successfully works but I can't figure out how to set up Internet connection settings, even with the help of Rogers customer service. All they could do was supply me with codes.
Can anyone give me a hand?
do u subscribe to GPRS services from rogers??
yes GPRS
go into settings->connections->connections
add a connection
choose gprs
type in access point
start a program which use gprs
it should start the grps
type in the login and password if your network
require it
choose that it should not ask you again
and you are online

T-Mobile USA surfing not working after upgrade to 2.06?

I've been able to surf using T-Mobile USA's entry "T-Zones" GPRS plan with the 1.72 ROM on my XDA II... I upgraded to 2.06 and it no longer works. It says it connects to T-Zones, but then Internet Explorer fails on all sites with "Site not found."
Messaging and my IMAP account work, so it's not the connection itself. Is this an Internet Explorer 2.06 ROM thing, or a T-Mobile thing?? Did they turn off port 80 or something?
T-Mobile
T-Mobile has changed a bunch of stuff latley. They cut me off of my browsing, if you setup the proxy, it'll start working again. They started blocking unlimited browsing without going through the proxy.
Ah. I set the connection up again as a "work" network that connected via proxy, using 216.155.165.50 (for reference if anyone searches this thread), and I am able to surf.
Thanks!
Forgot to log in. :?
In T-Mobile's ongoing battle to make their "T-Zones" service different from their "Internet" service (for which they charge at least $15 more a month), they keep closing off ports.
I am still able to ssh over the POP3 and IMAP ports, however.
Maybe you guys can help. . .
I just upgraded to 2.06 and the Connection Wizard is different - where there was a place for "Number" and I had *9***3# to connect, now it's "Access point name:" and with the same characters it won't connect. I tried using the proxy as described above and it still won't connect. Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks

Network GPRS setups with Proxy

All,
Trying to figure out what is the best way to setup your network connections on WM6 roms. I'm currently a Tmobile user in USA. The data plan im on, uses a proxy server. So it created an interesting problem if any expert out there can figure this out. HEre goes:
network wizard creates : Tmobile Data, Tmobile mms, on top of the My work network (empty setting), My ISP. None of them uses proxy.
Ok then I went ahead added the proxy into Tmobile Data config then IE works, push mail works from mail2web. AOl emails,YAHOO emails, weather ...etc stops working cuz the proxy.
Ok I decided to play with network management settings like a lot people suggested: I picked My work network (empty setting) as internet, Tmobile Data as private network connect. Now AOL,YAHOO ...etc anything cant use proxy server works, but my IE and PUSH mail fails.
My question is are there ways to tie connection to each application? actually tie into each mail account.
I remember there use to be a skipping proxy cab somewhere, I'm willing to try that cab if someone has it. I just need proxy to be transparents to some mail accounts and maybe applications like HTC weather.
Thank you. Let me know if I confusses everyone.
All,
Ok i did a partial fix.
Changed all the aol, yahoo, accounts to use work connection.
push mail can only use internet connection which has to have proxy. now that my sync doesnt like it, will fail with unreachable sever during sync because of the proxy. More digging. I know there are more tmobile web users out there. anyone has other suggestions?
